We visited 10 years ago and decided to return for our main holiday this year. The renovation since our last visit has been very well done. We booked a superior suite for a week to give us an additional room and a proper seating area. Our bedroom was lovely, if small, and the sea view was perfect. We loved the balcony, with surprisingly comfortable furniture. The second room had the appearance of a spare room and wasn’t well set up - the sofa bed was folded with the duvet already inside meaning it didn’t fully fold back to be able to sit on, so we took this out and it was fine. This room really needed a lamp and some cushions or similar (just a bit of attention to detail) to make it feel part of a suite rather than a blank unloved spare room, but the second side balcony off it was a welcome addition, particularly to catch the afternoon sun. Breakfast was really good quality and we always managed to get a table with a view. We were never rushed and nothing ran out. The room was cleaned well daily and the staff were very pleasant. The hot water in the hotel broke down twice while we were there, leaving us with unpleasant cold showers, but was fixed the next day on both occasions. The location of the hotel could not be better - the best sea view in Carnac, just steps away from the beach, and just around the corner from the restaurants and shops. Parking was expensive at 25 euros a day for the outside car park, but we chose this for peace of mind and a guaranteed spot as we planned excursions every day. There are no free benefits in the room - there is a small basic paying mini bar and a charge if you want the flip flops supplied - I would have expected for the price I paid perhaps even just complementary bottled water or similar. My feeling overall is that you get what you pay for with the view and location, both unrivalled, and the service and cleanliness are excellent. With just an extra little attention to detail to make our suite feel “superior” we would have given 5 stars all round, but still highly recommend this stay if you are not on a tight budget and enjoy sitting and watching the sea! We will happily return.

First the good. The location is incredible, right on the beach of Carnac. There are also a lot of food choices in the immediate neighborhood, albeit a bit touristy. I imagine if you have one of the rooms with a sea view that would be a plus. Now the bad. This building is old and needs a lot of work, at least if the rooms are anything to judge by. The paint was peeling in my room. The mattress definitely needed to be replaced. All of the furniture in the room was just old and worn. My room did not have a sea view. Maybe the rooms with a sea view are better maintained? It was more akin to what I'm used to for 2- or lower-end 3- star hotels in France (and I have stayed in a lot of those). In fact, as I am writing this, I am in a 4-star hotel, only a few days later, in the city of Rennes. There's simply no comparison, the present room is so much better. Back to Le Diana. In the evening , when I wanted to take a shower, there was no hot water in the room! I have never experienced anything like that in France before! Fortunately , by morning , that was no longer a problem , and I was able to clean up. The towels they provide in the bathroom are fairly pitiful. Checking in was a lot more of a task than I am used to in France , especially since they already had the information when I booked the room. One other piece of advice: if you do decide to stay here, go ahead and pay for the private parking, especially if you are going at a somewhat busy time of year. Finding parking on the streets in that area will be extremely difficult. Bottom line, I almost never leave bad reviews, but this hotel really disappointed me.
We stayed here for 5 days and fell in love with Carnac and the surrounding area. The hotel is in a perfect location, on the beach and 2 minutes from the local shops and cafes. We stayed in the 'Diana' suite, which gave lovely views out to sea. The staff were excellent and the rooms were kept to a great level of cleanliness. One example of the staff being helpful is that I currently have a medical condition which limits the type of food I can eat, the waiters understood and spoke to the chief and customised the dishes for me - it's things like that which make such a different to people and make them want to come back. They have parking spaces available at a cost, which I would recommend as the surrounding area was quite busy and parking might be a challenge.
As someone who was born and raised in France but now lives in the U.S., I feel I have a good perspective on hospitality standards in both countries. The Hôtel Diana is decent by many French standards, but if you're an international traveler—especially from North America—it's worth knowing that this 4-star hotel may not meet the expectations you associate with that rating. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and I appreciated that it had air conditioning, which isn't always guaranteed in France. However, there were quite a few disappointments. Accessibility is a major issue. The hotel is not very friendly for elderly guests or people with reduced mobility. We even ended up helping another guest with their luggage because the path is extremely steep, there is no proper ramp, and there are no automatic doors to make access easier. The gym could also use attention. The carpet had an unpleasant smell, and some of the equipment was outdated, with broken buttons that should have been repaired or replaced. In our room, the upper part of the shower head stopped working after the first day. It wasn't a huge issue, but it's another sign that maintenance could be improved. The Wi-Fi could also be improved. The connection was inconsistent, and there were areas of the hotel where the signal was quite weak. One evening I realized I had forgotten my toothbrush and asked the front desk if they had a spare one. Surprisingly, they had completely run out. For a 4-star hotel, even early in the season, basic amenities like disposable toothbrushes should always be available. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant with family. There were only four tables occupied, yet the service was among the slowest I've ever experienced. The food was fine, but the waiting time was excessive considering how quiet the restaurant was. Breakfast was good, but it felt a bit overpriced for the variety offered. If you're expecting a generous buffet with plenty of options, you may find it underwhelming. My family has been coming to this hotel for many years, and unfortunately they've all noticed the same thing: the overall quality has gradually declined. With some renovations, better maintenance, improved accessibility, a stronger Wi-Fi network, and much more efficient restaurant service, this hotel could once again live up to its 4-star rating and its beautiful location.
Perfect stay at Hôtel La Diana! Excellent location, beautiful, clean room, very comfortable bed, great shower, large balcony with super view of Grande Plage & Quiberon Bay! Enjoyed being right on the beach & walking the promenade! Great oysters & Foie Gras appetizers! Staff was friendly & attentive!
