Premier Inn Passau Weisser Hase

Very pleasant hotel in city of calm and beautiful Passau at confluence of rivers of Danube and Inn

We (wife and I) self-tour on good non-electric road bikes (Ritchey "breakaways") and they let us take them to our room and gave us an upgrade to a slightly larger one. Location was great. Decided from the start to stay a second night partly due to predicted rain and they told us in the lobby to go online for a better rate. Also loaned us large umbrellas next day when prediction came true.

Clean room, well appointed, fantastic shower, good breakfast, friendly staff. Really enjoyed my stay. Once thing jarred: if check-in is 3.00 snd a customer arrives at 2.00, just give them a room, don't make them sit around in the lobby until the clock says they can check in.

Decent hotel in good location. Walkable from train station with rolling luggage. Room was compact but clean and comfortable. Ridiculous lock system on room door - it's a standard electronic card lock however the deadbolt knob on the inside is not a true deadbolt but instead just a switch that disables the card lock. There is no safety mechanism which turns off the deadbolt switch when exiting the room, which means that it's possible to exit the room with the switch still engaged, making it impossible to get back in the room with your card. Then you have to go down to the front desk and ask the poor clerk with a long line of people waiting to check out, to run up to your room and let you in. The other issue is that the hotel interior (hallways, but not inside our room) always smelled of cigarette smoke, possibly some of the rooms are smoking or possibly fom people smoking just outside the main hotel door.
