Roberta was an absolute delight to spend the afternoon with! My friend and I are big foodies and not only was the food selection unique and amazing, Roberta was so knowledgeable about the rigorous process vendors go through to produce the high-quality food which made the tour extremely interesting. Everything was really beyond our expectations and we highly recommend this tour if you’re going to the beautiful city of Parma. 5 plus stars for Roberta, the food selection, and the tour!

10/10 experience! Our guide Julia was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend!
Lisa was fantastic! Knowledgeable, warm, and fun. She made our experience engaging and the food was delicious!
We have taken many private tours throughout Europe, and this one ranked among the best. Michelle was an excellent guide - warm, extremely knowledgeable, and well-connected in the Parma community. She took us to a lovely park, wonderful museums, and world class foodie experiences. We would love to visit Parma again, and we could not imagine the experience without Michelle! Grazie mille!
Myy wife and I had a great 3+ hour tour with Giulia. She has detailed knowledge of downtown Parma having grown up here. The places she brought us to were definitely NOT tourist traps as we tended to see more locals than tourists at the various shops. This was important to us. She also sprinkled in a lot of general knowledge about the city and sites, and that was great for us as this was our first time visiting Parma. We would highly recommend her company for this kind of personalized, small group tour.
Plenty of excellent food to sample throughout the day. Skip breakfast if you schedule a late morning excursion.
Our guide was fabulous, very knowledgeable and friendly! As the other reviewers have noted, she wove history and architecture into the tour. Food tastings were delicious. We are highly experienced travelers in Europe and we learned many interestings things during this tour. Highly recommend!
Liza was an exceptional tour guide. She was very energetic, friendly, gracious and very knowledgeable about Parma as well as the various food items she introduced us to. The private tour allowed us to learn everything we were interested in and held our attention. Each shop she took us to was unique with high quality items and the shop owners were welcoming and friendly. We didn’t feel any pressure to make purchases, only what we were interested in tasting. Liza made us feel like she was a friend sharing her wonderful city with us! Couldn’t ask for anything better!
Michelle was extremely knowledgeable and personable! She is an expert in art history and the food of Parma. You want her to guide you through the city!! We had a great time!!
Absolutely amazing experience, come hungry! a wonderful mix of local Parma history and the wonderful foods the area is famous for. Julia is a gem and made the experience unforgettable.
Our food tour in Parma was exceptional because of our guide Michelle! She met our small group at an easily identified bistro. We visited a award-winning restaurants for pasta, parmaseans, meats, paired with wines finishing at several desserts locations with cappuccinos and Expresso for traditional pastries and gelato. Michelle is a sommelier in multiple discpilines as well as art history to share details of buildings, art and music. A favorite tour I will recommend to all family and friends!
FABULOUS tour with Marta. Very well paced and she provided great explanations of how the foods are made and sourced. Marta is very curated with her explanations and so well informed of this area and its beautiful history. Strongly recommend this tour!
We really enjoyed our tasting tour with Marta. It was some of the best food we’ve had while we are here.
Excellent way to immerse in the Parma food scene, be well fed and learn as much as you can to appreciate the care that goes into their local specialties. Now back home, while searching market shelves for Modena vinegar, Parmesan cheese, prosciutto and gelato, I’m much more discerning and enjoying the culinary results.
My wife and I had a fantastic time with our new friend, Erica. Such an enjoyable, delicious, and educational experience.
Michele is a wonderful tour guide. Her love of her hometown and her knowledge of the history of the area as well as the food is exceptional.
The Parma food tour was spectacular. Our guide (Leisa) was local to Parma and provided great insight into the city and the cuisine.
We had a fabulous day with Leisa from Artemilia Private Tours. We saw a lot of great spots in Parma and she took us to some excellent places for our food tastings. She did a great job…highly recommend her
We met Erica from Trip Advisor/Viator. She was right on time and exactly where we were supposed to meet her. She spoke excellent english and she allowed and helped us use or Italian since we were trying to learn. We were exploring Parma and toured the historical section. She was so knowledgable. We went to a historical perfume store, a pasticeria, a deli specializing in Parma Ham products as well as Balsamico, a Parma Formaggio/Cheese, and a resteraunt where we ate 4 types of pasta. We finished at a historical gelateria that used to be a hat store. The old style hats adorn the walls. In case you didn’t notice this was a walking food tour. Erica was THE best and so nice. We would highly recopmmend this tour and Erica.
We had a wonderful trip with our lovely guide, Marta. She was well-acquainted with the food of the region, having worked in several different food-related jobs over the years. She was very knowledgeable of the area. She was kind with a great sense of humor. We appreciated her company. The food was really tasty and we learned a lot about the food-making in Parma. It achieved everything we were looking for. Thank you, Marta!
We had a wonderful time exploring Parma with Erica! She was a fantastic guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food and culture of the area. The walking food tour was a highlight of our trip. We learned so much about Parmigiano Reggiano, ravioli, prosciutto, and the wonderful variety of cured meats that Parma is famous for. The tastings were excellent, and Erica did a great job explaining how the foods are made and what makes them special. What really made the experience memorable was Erica herself. She made the tour fun, relaxed, and very personal. We never felt rushed, and she shared insights that we would never have discovered on our own. We highly recommend Erica to anyone visiting Parma. Come hungry—you'll leave with a much greater appreciation for Parma's incredible food and some great memories as well!
This was a wonderful experience getting to sample pastas, cheeses, pastries, meats, vinegar and finally gelato. Along the way Julia shared here knowledge and passion for the history of many buildings and the area in general. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.
Our guide was Roberta, She was absolute blast! She knew so many things about the city not just about the food. It was the most amazing tour experience that we had in Italy this trip. And all the food we had was so tasty!
100 / 10 recommend!!!! Roberta was the absolute best guide - so fun, friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped at historical sights, a few food stops and learned so much about Parma whilst eating AMAZING patisserie, local meats / cheeses and most importantly GELATO! If you are ever in Parma, please do yourself a favor and take this tour!!
Incredible experience! Well worth the price and you get SO MUCH food!!! The walking tour is manageable as far as distance goes and it really gives you perspective into the beautiful city
Michelle was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the food tour. She had a sense of humor, and was very friendly and passionate about the local foods and history of the area.
Excellent guided tour! Guide was extremely knowledgeable, spoke very good English, and explained everything we tasted plus provided a guided site seeing tour along the way. As good or better than any food walking tour we have been on.
Our guide Julia was great. She gave us historical background of the foods we tasted. She took us to wonderful places to taste fooods that Parma is known for
Our guide, Erica Immovilli, was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and lovely to be around. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
Erika was a delightful, attentive guide full of information about food, culture, history …all things Parma. We recommend her and the tour completely!
The private walking food tour was phenomenal. Giulia was a wonderful guide who was knowledgeable on all aspects of Parma’s history and food history. We enjoyed every stop and learning about the city and the culture. The prosciuttoria and gelatoria were the highlights. We tasted several hams to see the differences and the owner explained the process required to answer one of our questions. The balsamic vinegar tasting was eye opening…best we ever had. The pasta and parmesan cheeses were delicious, and we enjoyed discussing how our family and Giulia’s make the pasta for the holidays. The craft gelato was a perfect way to wrap up the tour…delizioso!
If you want to truly experience Parma, book this tour with Michelle. It felt like walking around with a longtime friend. She didn’t just show us the sights and the incredible traditional cuisine; she let us see the city through her eyes. She shared childhood memories connected to the places we visited and the dishes she grew up with, completely transforming our experience and giving us a real connection to the city and its food. This was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip to Italy. Highly recommended!
This was a delightful experience. Roberta was so full of knowledge and made every cheese, cured meat, or sweet we ate feel like a special treasure. Thank you for making our time in Parma so special!
Erika was a pleasure to have as a tour guide, she was fun and informative. The food was delicious and even made my gluten free self happy. The only reason I won’t give 5 stars is the meeting place was very confusing and vague, we actually went out of our way and had to back track to get to where we needed to be; I even called the local number to find the meeting spot.
Our guide Michele was wonderful, personable and made the tour truly special. We felt like we were spending time with a family member or someone we have known a very long time. All the food was beyond expectations and all the detailed information provided to us made it all a truly wonderful experience. My husband and I are so glad we did this tour and completely recommend this to anyone upon their visit to Parma.
What a great tour! Michelle guided us through a tasting of a wide variety of sweet and savory foods, explaining how they were deeply connected to history of Parma and the local area. We had our 5 and 8-year-old kids with us, and Michelle went above and beyond to adjust the pace for them so that everyone could fully enjoy the experience. Highly recommended!
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Italy! Lisa did a great job guiding us through Parma's food and culture, taking us to places where the locals eat and letting us sample the best the region has to offer. Book this tour—and be sure to come hungry!
Michele is sweet, knowledgable and informative. She did not rush us and answered all our questions. The selection of food stops was truly amazing. In addition, we learned so much about Parma, the city and surrounding farms . We would recommend to anyone visiting area.
This tour was amazing! There was so much food (and wine!) and it was all top-notch. We learned so much about the history of food and Parma, and the shop and restaurant owners welcomed us with such warmth everywhere we went, we felt like stars! If you’re going to Parma, book this tour, you won’t regret it!
Michelle gave a great tour! You can tell she loves her job and her city! She took us to a variety of places and gave us a great taste of Parma!!
Highly recommend Michelle and this tour, we found her extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She was very personable and helpful. The food was delectable! Thank you Michelle and Best Wishes!
Our first full day in Italy, we booked a food walking tour with Michelle Valeria Costa of Artemilia Guided Tours, and it ended up being the highlight of our whole two-week trip. Michelle is a Parma local and a certified Level 2 Parmesan taster, and you can tell — she knows the food and history of the region inside and out. We started at a café with a traditional puff pastry “sandwich” filled with spinach, chard, and cheese. It was so good that even my son, who won’t touch anything green, went back for more. From there we hit Pasticceria San Biagio for Torta Duchessa di Parma, then a meat and cheese shop for an incredible spread of cured meats, Parmesan aged three different ways (Michelle showed us the right way to smell and taste it), and balsamic vinegar — the real aged stuff was unbelievable. We finished with pasta at a trattoria and gelato at one of the top-rated shops in Italy. We kept talking about this day for the rest of the trip. If you’re headed to Parma, don’t skip this — book with Michelle. She also does cooking classes, and we’re already planning to do one next time we’re back.
While this tour was a bit more expensive than we typically go for, it was well worth it! Our guide, Lisa, was very knowledgeable, friendly and took us to many great spots! Her local knowledge and willingness to share was much appreciated. We really enjoyed this tour!
The tour was magnificent! Michelle was a fantastic tour guide and took us to wonderful establishments. Everything we ate and drank was delicious and I can't imagine having had a better experience. Anyone who likes food and wine must take this tour in Parma!
Amazing!! Erica was the best tour guide. We had so much fun, loved the food and learned so much! Would recommend this 100%!!
The food at each stop was excellent. Michelle's love and excitement for her hometown was very evident when she spoke about the different dishes we were trying. She elaborated on her education in becoming certified as a private tour guide and as a certified taster of cheeses, Prosciutto / Parma ham, wine and balsamic vinegar. I believe she said that she had a master's in art history, and so time between stops was filled with educational and historical information about Parma. I would do this tour on day one of your stay in Parma and ask Michelle's recommendations for restaurants based on your tastes. She has been spot on with her recommendations for us so far and does not seem 2 have made her recommendations based on kickbacks from businesses, but rather based on putting her hometown in its best light.
Michelle was amazing! So knowledgable about Parma, and it's food and wine and culture. 10/10 recommend!
Our guide was amazing! She lived in the local area and was so knowledgeable about Parma. The food was excellent. The tour was so fun!
We met Erica at the appointed spot in the beautiful city of Parma. She took us to described food destinations, starting with gelato first since it was so hot. The gelato location had unique flavors and makes everything in house. We got to try 2 flavors and it was delicious. Next was the pastry and cakes shop, which was requested to stay open for us, so we had the place to ourselves. We tried 2 different types of cakes; they were small in size, enough for a tasting. The balsamic tasting was great. We tried 3 different aged vinegars. Erica shared lots of information and the shop was super cute. Then we tried the different types of Prosciutto di Parma with Parmesan cheese and wine. By this point we were getting full, but we had one more stop. We went to a sit down restaurant and had different types of pasta: the tortellini in broth and in red sauce and 3 “raviolis” filled with: pork, spinach/cheese, potato All the while, Erica pointed out sites and gave details and information. She was kind and honest. We would definitely recommend
Our guide, Michelle, was both knowledgeable and passionate about the local food and the rich history behind it. The places we visited were all fantastic and the tour was a highlight of our trip!
