Itinerary
Leaving Parma, you will first stop at a cheese factory to see how milk is transformed into Parmigiano Reggiano. You will also discover how this cheese, devoid of any chemical additives, can be aged for years to improve its quality. You will then learn to recognize the various aging stages by enjoying a tasting led by an expert.
Proceed to learn about Parma Ham. In the ham producing house, you will see every phase of the curing of the meat and then taste the final result, yielded by meticulous ageing. Move on to a local restaurant where you can enjoy all the delicious products of the area, including local wines such as Lambrusco and Malvasia. Your menu includes local cured meats, as well as the tortelli d’erbetta, a round shaped pasta stuffed with ricotta and herbs which is a local specialty. For dessert, you will try the famous sbrisolona and other dry cakes. Your lunch will also include water, wine and coffee.
After lunch, round your tour off with a visit of an "acetaia", where a member of the owner’s family will reveal all secrets of traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

We did a cheese ham and balsamic food tour, with lunch, with Merika as our guild. She was knowledgeable and gave us the naughts into the history, manufacturing and culture of the food. We got to meet with owners of the different facilities and watch hands on processing.
Informative and fun experience with great tastings at each location. I more fully appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into producing the products. Tour guide Sofia was superb.
Our guide, Elena, was very well informed and personable and walked us through all the details and intricacies of parmesan cheese-making, parma ham curing, and balsamic vinegar production. Amazing and enlightening. And our driver Fabio, got us around safely and efficiently (despite his bad taste in automobiles...ha-ha). We had a very fun and enjoyable day.
A fantastic experience. Picked up by our tour guide Lisa. She was very knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. Stopped at a Parmigiana Reggiano building where we saw the cheese makers make cheese, view the holding tanks and storage facilities. Then tried the different ages. Awesome. Then stopped at a Prosciutto factory. We went on a Sunday, so it was not in operation but we still walked through and Lisa explained the process in great detail. Viewed the storage facilities. We then left for lunch and tried the types of prosciutto at a very delicious spot. Finally we saw how balsamic vinegar was made. It was very cool and an intimate experience. This tour was everything we hoped it was to be and more. It definitely worth the cost and if you have time in Parma, I recommend!
I learned about cheese, I ate cheese, I bought cheese. This was true of everything this day. Cheese, prosciutto and traditional balsamic vinegar. Everyone was kind and informative. There were no children present.
It was wonderful to try all the family made specialty products and learn about the tradition and passion put into acquiring the certifications. It's important to learn where and how our food is produced so we the consumers can decide. I liked the message and the quality of everything we enjoyed.
It was a very informative tour that I really enjoyed! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the cheese and Parma ham production process, and the places we visited were definitely worth seeing for food lovers.
Such an amazing tour. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable, we learned so much about the process of cheese, making, prosciutto Parma making, and the balsamic vinegar process. The day went by very fast and we got to try delicious food; would definitely recommend.
The most informative tour we have been on! Claudia was wonderful! Each stop was interesting and we felt welcome! We can’t choose our favorite stop as we enjoyed them equally!
Loved this tour. The guide was informative and fun. It was very easy to spend the day with her. The lunch was exceptional and traditional. Be prepared to buy some lovely treats along the way.
Great tour. Very tasty food and lunch. May seem expensive but well worth the money. The guide came across very informative and we would have purchased all the products but for the UK ban on meat and dairy products from the EU. Would definitely recommend.
Everything went great! The locations were amazing, tasting was fab, and everything was very well explained. Giacamo was a fantastic tour guide. Highly recommend!
This day trip on the outskirts of Parma was a day to remember! In complete awe of the cheese production, prosciutto, and also the visit to the Picci mansion was a complete delight! Could not ask for a better day!
Marika was such a knowledgeable guide who is passionate about the craft and production of these Italian specialties. We would never have been able to experience this on our own. The conversation, view of the people at work creating and beautiful country lunch will be very much a highlight of our entire trip to Italy. I feel like we got the ‘Stanley Tucci experience’!
Myself and my two children (9 and 11) enjoyed the full day tour because of the delicious tastings and information. The guide was very friendly and informative. He took his time and explained everything very clearly. Each tasting was set perfectly and the lunch was delicious at a local restaurant. I would highly recommend this tour.
This was a perfect tour to try all 3 of the local Parmiggiano Reggiano, prosciutto di Parma and balsamic vinegar. Our guide giacomo was so knowledgeable and was able to take us behind the scenes in the factories to explain in detail all the work that goes into production. Highly recommend this tour!
Great day out. Excellent guide and experience of traditional Parma food Relaxing and tasty way to try out the local produce.
Excellent experience overall! Very informative and kept us engaged throughout the entire process; would recommend it to everyone.
My favorite activity during my weeklong Italy trip. Amazing and fascinating learning about Parma cheese, ham, and balsamic vinegar. Our tour guide Sophia was lovely and knowledgeable.
An absolutely amazing experience. The tour guide was personable and truly gave me a taste of Parma. Will definitely go again on a future visit!
If you need a quick and competent introduction to the production of parma ham, parmasan cheese and traditional balsamic vinegar this is the right tour to take. The tour guide is an expert in gastronomy and explains everything, so everyone can understand.
The tour was amazing. It was very informative and our guide, Giacomo, was very well versed in the process to make the cheese, prosciutto, and balsamic vinegar. He also gave us a great overview of the history of the region and pointed out points of interest along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!
The tour was absolutely perfect. Claudia was amazing and very nice and informative. My family really enjoyed the entire day!
This is a remarkable tour! Claudia is extremely knowledgeable about the gastronomy of the region as well as being very friendly and accommodating. All of the stops were excellent - be ready to buy some goodies!
This tour was amazing! Each faculty we visited was incredible, but the best was the Balsamic vinegar tour was by far the best. Definitely do not miss it. Our guide Sophia was so nice and friendly. We got to have lunch with her and she is truly a lovely person. If you’re near Parma, definitely check this tour out.
We loved this experience!! We visited small production houses for parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar as well as Parma ham factory. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the region and how the processes of each operated. If you love food and want to visit Parma - this is a definite must for you!
Wonderful from start to finish. Excellent food and tour guide. Enjoyed the scenery and seeing how the cheese, ham, and balsamic vinegar was produced. Highly recommend.
Everything was amazing, I had a wonderful day tasting and seeing parmigiano reggiano, prosciutto di parma and Reggio vinegar.
Amazing tour. Very informative while a ton of fun. Host was knowledgeable about the individual foods as well as the processes and the over all Italian region and local foods. Driver was excellent!
Such a great tour. Sofia was lovely and informative. I found it just the right length at each place and brought home more than memories
Giacomo was an amazing tour guide. A worth while experience. My husband and I have been wanting to do this tour for a while and it did not disappoint.
Wonderful guide, hosts and food with fantastic back drops for views. We all had a great time on this full day tour. Would highly recommend.
This was most enjoyable tour. Our guide was charming and knowledgeable. She truly seemed to enjoy being a guide. The parmesan-reggiano factory and prosciutto factory were interesting but the Balsamic maker visit - was as the admonition goes - save the best for last was true. We would happily recommend this tour.
The guide was very knowledgeable and the places we went were small family operations where you could tell the owners really cared about their products. We learned a lot. The lunch was good food in a lovely restaurant.
It was full of information and got to see all the making processes of the foods. The tour guide was fun and knowledgeable about everything we saw. The lunch was delicious too.
Great insight into the work, knowledge and passion that goes into the production of these traditional DOP products. We really gained a new appreciation for the people who dedicate their lives to making the best of the best. A delicious lunch was enjoyed as well as tastings of the Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma ham and balsamic vinegar. Our small group was great and made for a most enjoyable day. Special thanks to our super guide, Sophia!
Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, answering all of our questions with great detail. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional experience. Every moment of the tour was memorable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a remarkable adventure!
It’s a must for visitors to Parma. It’s a complete experience to learn what it took to make the food we all enjoy. Valentina our guide was very knowledgeable. The owners of each of the establishments we visited were passionate about their craft.
This is a great tour to small family producers of unique products. The tour guide (Gac ) was passionate about the food of the region and was very informative
Valentina made our experience truly unforgettable. From the start, her communication was thorough, and her meeting instructions were exceptionally clear. This private tour is perfect for seeing the top three attractions in the Parma area, and Valentina's expertise made it even better. Our first stop was the Parmigiano Reggiano factory, where she educated us on the entire process with live demonstrations, followed by a tasting of some of the best cheese I’ve ever had. Next, we toured the Prosciutto factory, learning about production from start to finish. Valentina even arranged a quick stop at a nearby castle, allowing us to capture stunning scenic photos. For lunch, we enjoyed delicious meats and cheeses we had just learned about. Our final stop was at a family-run traditional balsamic vinegar producer, where Valentina once again impressed us with her extensive knowledge. Her expertise across all three industries made the tour absolutely worthwhile. Highly recommended!
This was an excellent tour while we were in Parma. It is a full day. It is also a very educational day especially if you have a guide like Marika who, while young is a food graduate, is extremely well informed, is also quite funny but all of this wrapped in a very sensible, respectful and wanting to please attitude. Your guide make makes or breaks your day….Marika made it a beautiful day! We started with the cheese factory and it was just amazing what we learned and the tastings! The hosts were also very nice and of course we bought the real parmiggiono cheese, 50 months aged….yummy! TIP: Bring a bag that keeps food cool or buy one for €1 at the cheese factory and fill it up along the way. Then we went to the Prosciutto for more learning and seeing how this is done. Even both of us being Italian it was an eye opener. We did a tasting and it was delicious. We also bought more food…prosciutto of course! Delicious! Then there is lunch at the Osteria where the views are spectacular and the food matches that. Finally the vinegar…OMG this is a great place to learn and see and taste what real vinegar is. Our host was amazing and spent time with us explaining things. The tastings…the tastings….DEVINE! I won’t spoil it but…don’t leave there without the real stuff because at home it will cost you a lot more! We’ve done a lot of tours but we’ve now learned that Get Your Guide does them better, provides real value, delivers exactly what you paid for, in spades. We loved every minute of the 8 hours. FINALLY: The unsung hero is the coach driver. You need to be great (not just good) to handle that coach at those altitudes with no guardrails. He did a majestic job of it. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND tipping them both, generously. They have earned it. They have instructed and cared for us majestically. Enjoy the tour and….Buon Viaggio!
An absolute pleasure. Elena was pur guide and she was lovely. Very informative and delicious. Don't skip the vinegar tour.
Absolutely wonderful day spent with our Guide, Claudia. We enjoyed each stop - including our hosted lunch. Claudia clearly explained the history and processing of the cheese, ham and vinegar. She was passionate as she spoke and she was easy to understand. Each producer took the time to meet us and talk about their products and the aging process. Our driver, Vincenzo, was also a pleasure to spent the day with. Would highly recommend this tour.
The tours were well organized and our guide Giacomo was very knowledgeable. All 3 tours were unique and insightful. It’s a must do if you’re in the area!
Great experience! Well planned out as we were able to see the cheese making in process as that was our first stop of the day. The lunch was very yummy and in another great location. Giacomo our guide was great! Super knowledgeable. You could tell he was really passionate about the information he was relaying to us. All in all would highly recommend.
Excellent tour, so much information about the food and history of the region. We loved every part of it. The lunch was delicious! Would recommend to anyone visiting Parma
It was an amazing day! Everything was wonderful and perfect! We loved Sofia, she was an excellent guide. She is so cute and sweet!
