Itinerary
Garibaldi Square is the hub of Parma. The civic center of the city was located here, as opposed to the religious center located a few hundred meters away and represented by Piazza Duomo. This square is also commonly called Piazza del Comune or Piazza Grande .
The elegant Renaissance building of Santa Maria della Steccata is the first church in Parma to be built with a central plan. Inside we will see one of the masterpieces of Francesco Mazzola, known as Parmigianino: the large arch above the main altar, frescoed between 1533 and 1539.
Today it is recognized as a temple of the opera tradition and is one of the most prestigious theaters in Italy. Characterized by a neoclassical facade still today defined as “Parma yellow” and refined interiors adorned with gilded stuccos. Ticket cost: 10€
The Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista, or more commonly the Baptistery of Parma, is an octagonal building covered in pink Verona marble, a symbol of eternity, considered as one of the most important points of transition between the Romanesque and early Gothic styles in Italy. Ticket cost: 10€ (includes Diocesan Musem)
The idea of creating the museum dates back to the 1990s, with the treasurer of the Diocese, Monsignor Franco Grisenti, who proposed an exhibition of paintings, sacred vestments and silverware, as well as a lapidary in the basement rooms for the statues from the Baptistery . Ticket cost: 10€ (includes Baptistery entrance)
The Cathedral of Parma or rather, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, is a Romanesque style building built starting from 1106 and still considered today as one of the Italian medieval masterpieces. lthough the Romanesque layout is well preserved, much of the interior, including the central nave, the dome and the transept, have been modified by subsequent Renaissance interventions. Furthermore, some side chapels have been frescoed in Gothic style in more recent times.
The Chamber of San Paolo is located inside the San Paolo museum and is a museum itinerary that recreates the rooms of the private apartment of the abbess Giovanna da Piacenza, an important figure in the religious and cultural context of Parma in the early sixteenth century. In the Cella di Santa Caterina you can find important frescoes and decorations that reflect the Renaissance art and the religious tradition of the time. The works present in the cell describe scenes from the life of Saint Catherine and other religious themes. Ticket cost: 8€
Originally conceived to house the services of the Farnese court, one of the most influential noble families between the 15th and 18th centuries, Pilotta Palace was intended to integrate the system of ducal residences. It connected the Representative Palace with the more modest building that housed the headquarters of the Farnesian court, located on the opposite bank and no longer exists today. Ticket cost: 18€
The Farnese Theater is considered the first modern theater in the West. Located on the first floor of the Palazzo della Pilotta, it was built between 1617 and 1618 in the ancient “Sala d’Arme” of the court, designed by the Ferrara architect Giovan Battista Aleotti, known as Argenta. Ticket: included in the Palazzo della Pilotta fee (18€)
The most famous garden in Parma, which with its 208 thousand square meters of greenery represents an important natural oasis for the inhabitants of the city. The Ducal Parl is in neoclassical style and stands out for its avenues and sections that intersect in a trapezoidal shape. Walking inside the park, you will have the opportunity to admire some historical monuments of Parma, such as the Palazzo Ducale del Giardino and the Trianon Fountain.

The tour guide had an excellent grasp of the history and was able to really engage the group. Great value
Matteo did a wonderful job mapping out Parma for me with detailed, informative information on each stop. I would have missed so much not having downloaded his audio guide. Matteo good luck with your audios, I did our first in Modena which prompted me to pursue the one in Parma. Thank you, you really added to my Parma visit.
Great idea and way to walk around the city at your own pace. Helpful way to get a quick idea about key points of interest so in 24 hrs you can not miss something important.
It was a terrific time! The Parmesan cheese tour was definitely the highlight of the day, but the Parma ham and the balsamic vinegar tour were very enjoyable as well. Little mixup in the transportation at the end but outside of that we had a great time. If I could recommend one thing, it would be to figure out something to maybe offer some kind of lunch with the trip even if it meant €20 more. We had some small pieces of cheese at the first stop, a couple pieces of ham at the second stop and wine with both so there really wasn't much food and it was a long trip but outside of that I would highly recommend the tour we had a great time!!
Excellent audio commentary and route. Memorable information provided.
Excellent audio describing the places of interest and route provided after each stop to be able to find the next one. Able to revisit the audio afterwards. Memorable information provided.
The guide was easy to access and full of great information. Thanks. 🙏
It was good, very informative however would like an interactive map as we had to use a spare phone for directions. If there was one and we missed it, it’s our mistake.
Great guide, simple, complete and friendly. I recommend it!!
A well organized itinerary with comprehensive descriptions and detailed information on the many incredible monuments in this gorgeous city. The organizer was very helpful and available in setting up the app
Super easy to access. Seamless transition from Google Maps- easy to understand, plenty of information. We loved that we could move at our own pace- and that we could even access it over 4 days!
This was a great way to get a guided self tour. We do like our waking tours but did not want to make a commitment on time. This was a perfect way to make sure we saw the sites and got some of history at our own pace and on our own time. We ended up buying 3 guides!
I was so happy to be able to move at my own pace and convenience. The digital format was super easy to purchase, access, and use. Each segment of the tour was well researched and condensed to an interesting nugget of info. Thanks for a great tour of Parma!
Well done. It was a rainy day in Parma and this made it better (esp the Osteria di Servi restaurant).
Fantastic! We loved the hidden facts about the city and knowing what to look out for. Will definitely be recommending to others.
We had an afternoon in Parma so wanted to do a quick sightseeing tour. The App was easy to use and the link to Google maps meant we could move easily between the sights. The description of the places in the tour was interesting and engaging and we saw things that normally we would have walked past. Lots of interesting details too. I liked the mix of spots to stop and look at between churches and cultural points like Toscanini’s house. Overall a great experience- thank you
This is a link to a recorded and written guide to the main sights of Parma. It was easy to connect and the man who created it us always available to help via email and WhatsApp. Also, if the recording doesn't work or your battery is low, the text is there to guide you. You really can’t go wrong.
We downloaded the walking tour to structure a walk around central Parma. It turned out to be very good value with lots of information- more written information than provided by just listening to the audio guide. It was excellent and we did follow all the sites, in order. We would definitely use the company again.
Very helpful for our quick time in Parma! It made our experience there that much more memorable to have a guide like this.
Great way to see Parma for the first time! We liked the food section describing the foods in Italy and restaurants to try.
We travel with friends and decided to try this tour. All 4 of us had very good experience. We received clear instructions on how to install and activate digital guide. Mateo even sent us a link to the car parking area! This was very helpful! We liked that we had both options - a written guide and an audio guide. It feels like each of us had a private tour guide!
Very interesting and very nice guide for visiting Parma. I highly recommend it
Simple, pleasant to listen to, detailed.
Very nice city tour with a lot of information. Also very good in terms of length.
Interesting and enjoyable guide. Fully recommended
very complete guide on the city, its history, its gastronomy and its monuments. at a reasonable price. this makes it possible to make a parkouds of discovery of the city at its own pace and according to the time available.
In a new city this easy-to-use tool helps you navigate monuments and museums as well as providing good advice on restaurants and typical food and wine, like a paper cup.
The audio guide made the walk in Parma pleasant, very useful for those visiting the city for the first time and want to have an exhaustive overview of the main places. We also used the analog guide of Modena
The guide is really simple to use, very useful and with essential information to visit the main attractions of Parma, in the historic center. I would definitely recommend it.
We've moved to 1. Booked a virtual tour and are thrilled. It was a very well planned route, which we were able to interrupt individually and continue the following day. We learned a lot of interesting details and Matteo answered a question about booking via WhatsApp immediately and very friendly. We are looking forward to the next tour "with him". Thank you very much and good luck!
We were happy about the short tour with the main sights and related informative details of Parma in the digital app. The culinary tip of the gelateria also worked wonderfully.
Beautiful driving. Very interesting and nice. We were able to see in 3-4 hours the important goals of Parma even with the rain. Definitely a redo.
Wonderful to see Parma's highlights, walking through the city. There was also market so that was fun to experience. If you are not familiar this is a fun experience for discovering a city
Although I didn't follow the order of the stops proposed by Matteo, it was very easy to find my way around the city and create an alternative route thanks to the ease of use of this digital guide. The explanations are clear, not too long but still detailed and there are also some interesting curiosities
Exhaustive audio guide, not long and not boring, just enough to have an overview of what is observed
Guía muy bien preparada para la ciudad de Parma. Recorrido bien marcado y explicado, se agradece el enlace a Google Maps para ir de una parada a otra. Destacar la parte gastronómica de la guía.
Very well prepared guide for the city of Parma. Well marked and explained tour, the link to Google Maps to go from one stop to another is appreciated. Highlight the gastronomic part of the guide.
clear, not long, possibility to stop and resume it, great for those who do not want to waste time in a group and maybe want to listen to the lyrics again
This type of guide is perfect for a short visit to the city! Definitely well made and efficient! Super recommended!
Who manages the service is a courteous person, very helpful that you can also contact via WhatsApp the Guide is almost complete almost exhaustive and gives you a picture of the city remarkable and very precise we recommend it
Quite interesting audio guide maybe not very complete and detailed, ok the informal tone lacks a bit of insight especially for some attractions.
I followed the guide and I liked it. I enjoyed following the instructions of the guide to visit places in Parma. I had a good time, and I even had ice cream.
Great idea, but you need a perfect internet connection. Otherwise, the text will jerk. But for the price really recommended!
