Make sure not to take a duo language tour. The guide was fantastic. But both language parties only gained 35% of the knowledge we could have obtained by a tour in one language.

Sandra gave us a wonderful tour. The weather was a little bit rainy, but we saw all the important sites and she introduced us to museums and churches that we then went back to at our own pace. She took us to her former school in the Complesso San Paolo and inside a church that had formerly been used as a prison during Napoleon‘s time. She also gave us a great recommendation for lunch, which warmed us up beautifully. She was very well informed, opinionated, and interesting. It made Parma really special for us.
Advertised as an English tour we had Italians which meant she had to speak in 2 languages. Therefore spent a lot of time waiting and didn’t see that much.
A very well-structured tour, so that the historistical information was connected by various recurring threads. Our guide Benedetta was perfect, as was the bluetooth technology which enabled us to hear every word at our own chosen volume, without her raising her voice or disturbing others. I found two hours to be the perfect length.
I assume this tour would be good if you speak Italian, but it is terrible if you speak English. The tour guide had very poor english. Her pronounciation was so bad that I could not understand most of what was being said, and she would also mix up some of her english words so that the stories were not understandable. The guide would firstly speak in Italian for the Italians, and then in broken English. I finished the tour very confused about what it was all about.
Our guide was very good, but she was in a difficult situation. We were a mixed group of English and Italian speakers. Each of us signed up with our language preference, but we were tossed together, forcing our guide to explain everything twice, meaning that the tour covered only half of the places. When it was Italian time, we English speakers wandered about. When it was English time, the Italian speakers wandered off. Really disappointing for everyone. The organizers should have asked one group to come back later, or hustle to find another guide, or something. As it was, we saw some churches.
The history of the conflicting factions including Rome that I never new. Architecture is totally different than I expected. Many places to get ticket to if you have more than a day.
Excellent tour although there were times when we could not hear our guide. She has a soft voice. The information we did hear, however, was very good. She answered all of our questions.
Giorgia is a fantastic, engaging and very knowledgeable guide. She made the history of the city come alive and provided an excellent tour.
Enjoyed the tour and learnt about of the city history. The tour was both in Italian and English at the same time, and because of that it took a bit more than 2 hours. But we appreciated that the guide took as much time for both audiences. Advice: you can buy directly at Tourist Office, if you have time go there and do a direct reservation. The listed price at the Tourist Office was 12€, but we paid 18€ in TripAdvisor. Not sure if this is a service fee - as this was not indicated anywhere -, but it's difficult to justify the difference.
Excellent guided tour of the centre of Parma, would highly recommend. Relaxed and not too much walking, so perfect for older visitors as well.
Consigliato
