Our guide, Michelle, was fantastic: super knowledgeable and really passionate. We had no idea how much goes into making Parmigiano Reggiano, and seeing the process up close was unforgettable. Then we moved on to Prosciutto di Parma, which was just as fascinating! We learned so much about how it’s made, walked through the curing rooms to see the different stages of aging, and wrapped up with a delicious tasting of prosciutto and other local cured meats, along with a glass of wine. The drive through the hills where the prosciutto is made was gorgeous, too. It was a wonderful morning, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves food and wants to see how these products are really made!

Great option if you’d rather skip group tours and have a guide all to yourself! Our guide, Michelle, knew so much about how the food is made, the local economy, and the history behind it all. The tastings were the cherry on top, and the intro to sensory analysis was fascinating! Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be telling all our friends.
This tour takes you behind the scenes to show what goes into the exceptional quality of world-famous products like Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma. We learned about the hard work of the farmers and veterinarians, how the animals are raised and fed, the strict standards set by the official regulations, and every little detail of how these products are made. You’ll never look at them the same way again! A heartfelt thank-you to our guide, who led us with passion and care to the very soul of Emilia-Romagna, introducing us to small, family-run artisan producers who deeply respect the land and its traditions. Thank you!
We loved this tour- Erika was a great tour guide- she was really funny and completely tailored the guide to us. The parmesan tour was really authentic and really fun to see- we got to see the entire process from start to finish and then finished with a tasting in their aging room which was awesome. The proscuitto tour was very interesting as well- we were there on Saturday so they weren't working- but still got to see all steps of the process and completed with a tasting as well. We had a great tour and would strongly recommend this tour to anyone- and would strongly recommend Erika, who really made the tour special and fun.
Our family had the most amazing food tour of Parma with Michelle! She had a great amount of knowledge and love Parma cuisine/products and was able to impart that to our family of four. She took us to great eateries, ordered the most delcious Parma cusine and told us all about the history and the proper way to enjoy it. She was very helpful when our train from Milan arrived late in Parma and was able to take us through the experience with us feeling rushed(especially in this 39 degree heat). I would highly recommend this tour and Michelle as a tour guide!
Roberta was an amazing tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable on the area, and how the Proscuitto de Parma and Parmigiano Reggiano is made. This is a great tour for foodies and people who like to know about food sourcing. Off the beaten path with small local food artesian. I highly recommend this company. It was a wonderful experience. Safe for solo travelers.
We had an incredible half-day experience with Eliza - she was truly remarkable. Her encyclopaedic knowledge of both geography and food, especially the Parmesan and Parma ham facilities we visited, was astounding. She was dynamic and funny and warm and entertaining and it made for a very special day for my daughter and for me. We hope that she continues to share here love of food and Parma with visitors - she's a fabulous advocate for food culture and for the entire region!
We had an awesome tour guide. Her name was Roberta. Absolutely informative, clear concise very thorough. Easy to understand easy to communicate. She was very friendly. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you love parmigiano Reggiano cheese and prosciutto. What was also great about this tour is that it was private and you moved at your own pace. A MUST!!!!!
if there is one thing you do in Parma, this should be it. this was the most informative, interesting and educational day - and it included one of the best meals as well. Michelle is so good at imparting a lot of information in an interesting way. she answers all questions. Takes pictures to document the journey and makes it a truly lovely experience. This tour takes you to several locations so you see the countryside and learn about the local culture. I cannot recommend this more highly!
Our experience on this tour (last week) with our amazing guide, Lisa, was simply amazing! We booked the option with transportation included to and from Parma, and the entire day was seamless. We were first taken to a Parmiggiano Reggiano dairy and we were able to watch the entire process right there on the production floor with the cheese master and his experienced crew. It was simply incredible to watch - these people are true artists and watching them work mostly in silence with everyone just knowing what to do at all times was SO awe-inspiring. Lisa is incredibly knowledgeable about the entire process and was able to explain the ins and outs and whys down to a granular level. She kept things interesting and engaging for my two kids (10 and 11 year olds) and was so patient with them, even when they were being rowdy in the van. The tasting at the end of the production tour was also great, as we were able to taste the cheese at different stages of aging. From there we went to the Prosciutto di Parma factory - we were there on a Sunday, so unfortunately, we weren't able to see the production process (they only work on week days), but we still enjoyed walking around and looking at all the rooms and equipment and of course, the many Parma hams! Lisa brought the process to life for us with all of her extremely detailed descriptions and again, answered all of our many questions thoroughly and enthusiastically. After the tour, we tasted different varieties of ham and met the sweet owner and her daughter, and it was awesome to chat with them. We could not have asked for a better guide or a better tour. Two weeks in Italy and now that we're back home, this is the experience we're all still talking about. Also big shout out to Michelle, who was very responsive and helpful before the tour. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience! I'd give ten stars if I could.
Roberta Morese was an amazing tour guide. Her in-depth understanding of the production processes for both Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma made our experience as enjoyable as possible. Her language skills were remarkable, and that added to our enjoyment. We couldn't be more enthusiastic about our recommendation for this activity. It's one of those "don't miss" experiences for first-time visitors to Reggio Emilia.
Our guide, Lisa was fantastic. She provided a lot of historical knowledge about the making of parmigiana reggiano cheese and the process to cure Parma ham. She was friendly and engaging and the tour was fantastic. It gave you a great sense of pride about these family-owned business's and their contribution to the local economy. I visited with my two sisters and would highly recommend the tour to other families and individuals.
It was very interesting. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The two locations were perfect.
An amazing tour with Lisa a fantastic guide. We enjoyed seeing how some of the most delicious food in the world was made. Great excursion into the countryside after several days in cities. Lisa was warm engaging and very knowledgeable. Mille Gratzi
Groovy cool experience!! Highly recommended. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the cheese and ham. The driver was great.
This tour was so much fun. You really get to see the full end-to-end cheese making process, which is incredible to watch unfold. And, the cheese tasting at the end is also fantastic. Going through the Parma Ham facility was also so interesting. Lisa was a great guide who was excellent at communicating the history and processes related to these incredible foods in the region. We loved the whole experience, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the excellent cuisine in and around Parma!
Lisa, our tour guide was superb. Her knowledge, friendliness, flexibility and good disposition were amazing. Recommended "120" %.
This was a very well organized and professional experience. Nice Mercedes van with a friendly driver. Lisa was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable. Amazing how much she knew. The dairy visit was interesting and mostly kept the kids (7 and 10) entertained.
This was a very educational and fun experience for all the family. Michelle was a knowledgeable and personable guide who made our experience worth the adventure!
Roberta was amazing, she knows the subject very well - we have visited parmiggiano cheese factory and parma ham prosciutteria. Best guide during our trip in Italy this time and we have done 5 tours this week. Pleasure to take such tours.
Our private tour was led by the very knowledgeable Lisa! We especially loved the Parmigiano Reggiano dairy where we got to watch them make the cheese and got to meet the cows. Lisa was so kind and friendly and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the history and process.
Wonderful. A great driver and a personal luxuary van just for us. Lisa was our guide, her English was better that ours and we were born there. So much information presented by Lisa with in depth knowledge of all aspects of the tour. We now have even more respect for the artisans who not only spend their days making this amazing cheese but making the job look effortless. It was like watching a ballet and conductor at the same time all done in wellington boots and hardly a word spoken. Timing and skill , superb to watch. Then through beeeutiful countryside to Parma ham production place in the hills. Again fascinating, labor intensive which translates to those amazing flavors we associate with Parma Ham. Don't hesitate with this tour just book it and ask for Lisa because her command of English, Italian and German (possibly more languages) really added to the trip .
This was one of the best tours we have ever gone on. Lisa was incredibly knowledgeable and detailed about operations at the cheese and ham plants. She was patient in answering our many questions and very engaging throughout. Coming in, I didn’t know how much I would care for the operational aspects but her passion and delivery made it very interesting. Highly recommend taking the half day for this tour. Well worth it and a highlight of our Italy trip so far!
This is a very informative tour, and our guide, Cecilia, is very knowledgeable regarding the process of producing these wonderful products. The experience was well worth the investment of time. Tasting the goods was also a great highlight as we were getting hungry during the tour. I highly recommend this if you are a foodie or interested in the way these products are made. It is very interesting. Thank you Cecilia.
We did two days tour with Michelle. The first day was on Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto, and another day was the food walking tour within Parma (We also asked her to add balsamic vinegar tour at the end of the second day). Michelle was amazing in explaining history, the process of making the products, and culture in a very detail-oriented manner. So both days were very insightful and fun. For the food walking tour, be prepared for the flavorful tastings, and please skip your breakfast before the tour as you will taste so many things!
Tour as described was close to 6.5 hr. Cecilia was the tour guide. She was very passionate about details as she grew up in the area and her father was a cheese maker. We chose to use our own transportation so we could drive on from our last stop.
Beatrice was an outstanding guide. She was obviously passionate about the locations and products she showed us and was great at giving information, answering questions and showing us the process. Seeing the cheese made and walking through each step was amazing and the same for the Parma ham. Guido our driver did a wonderful job maneuvering through the fog and even though we couldn’t see the lovely landscapes and castle due to the fog we have a wonderful tour and I would recommend to anyone. We also tried a sandwich shop she mentioned after the tour and it was delicious.
This tour was a highlight of our trip to Emilia-Romagna. Michelle picked us up from our hotel in Parma and our first stop was a small, independent producer of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. We got to see so many steps of the cheese making process up close! At first I had wondered why we needed to make such an early start to the day, but Michelle timing it perfectly so that we could see everything (from the boiling of the milk and separating the curds, to forming the wheels). We even got to help “turn” the curds to release them from the bottom of the copper vat. Next we got to taste 12, 24, 30, and 36 month Parmigiano Reggiano. Michelle is level 2 certified taster and thoughtfully walked us through the tastings, pointing out the nuances of each cheese’s aromas, textures, and flavors. So fun! Our second stop was a “salumifico” in Langhirano. I loved that this was another small family run business, this one woman owned and operated. Michelle was so knowledgeable about the whole process of making Prosciutto di Parma and walked us through the facility. So cool to see — although I wouldn’t recommend for my vegetarian friends. :) We ended with another great tasting — this time with a little glass of local wine, too. I truly cannot recommend Artemilia more highly. This truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Such a fun and special day.
This is a definite tour to take. We absolutely loved our Guide, Cecelia! She was such a pleasure to be with. Our driver, Guido, was fun and comical.
Today was such a great day! We got to tour Villa Aiola dairy farm as well as Conti Prosciutto di Parma plant. We got to watch them make the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and explore the dairy farm. We got to meet the dairy cows and even welcome some new baby twins to the farm!! We got to sample fresh ricotta cheese and the different aged cheeses!! We also got to see the different aging rooms for the prosciutto hams and also sample some different aged varieties!! Michelle was such an amazing guide - so full of knowledge and helpful in helping us understand the processes!! We highly recommend using this group for any tour they offer!! We hope to come back again! A day we will never forget!!
Cecilia is a total gem & gave us a 5🌟 experience in Parma & the ER region! She and our driver Guido guided us safely through the gorgeous countryside for behind the scenes experiences at a functional dairy & prosciutteria. She’s so knowledgeable, kind, and authentically interactive- we made a new friend!!
Fantastic tours of a local farm that produces Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and then a local producer of Prosciutto di Parma. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about her region's products and culture. Highly recommended!
Perfect tour, we tasted all of the classic foods that we have been excited for. From the homemade pasta dishes to the vertical tasting of cheese from parmigiana and a very special balsamic vinegar from Modena everything was perfect. We had two bottles of amazing wine that we had never tried as well. We had special pastries as well, and Serena went out of her way to get gluten-free options for my husband that were delicious. Serena was an absolutely amazing tour guide I would give this tour five stars for sure but more if I could.
Truly remarkable experience. Highly recommend. It was definitely a highlight of my trip! Our tour guide was very knowledgable and shared lots of insight which made us appreciate the experience even more.
A friend and I enjoyed our private tour with Serena. She was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and happily answered all of our questions. I felt like we got an in-depth view of both the parmesan factory (from watching some parmesan and ricotta being made from start to finish, going to see the cows that produced the milk, and tasting 4 different aged cheeses) and the prosciutto factory (seeing the raw meat cured with salt, seeing the meat at different stages of the curing and aging process, and finishing with a tasting including a glass of sparkling wine). I can't recommend Serena enough, she was fabulous. In addition, the logistics worked well: we were picked up on time at the designated meeting spot, had a dedicated driver along with Serena, and a very comfortable car for the two of us.
Everything is well organized, the guide Serena took her time for us and presented everything to us exactly as the tourist wanted
This half day tour was absolutely amazing! Michelle met us at the dairy farm (Villa Aiola) bright and early and proceeded to give us the most informative, energetic, detailed, up close and personal tour of the Parmigiano Reggiano factory. During the tour we watched the different stages of the cheese being made and even had a chance to assist in the cheese making process. The tasting did not disappoint...4 different Parmigiano Reggianos and freshly made ricotta...they were all delicious. From there we headed to a proscuitto di Parma factory. On the way Michelle provided us detailed history of the town and stopped for a photo op of a 15th century home. At the prosciutto factory, we learned about the aging process and ate delicious samples of the ham. If you want an immersive, personalized experience, this is the experience for you.
Really great tour, Inspiring and relaxing. The pickup was in time, the guide and the driver were very nice and very well informed, they answerd all our questions.
Highly recommended! Beatrice was a fantastic tour guide and you could really feel her expertise on knowledge of regional foods. Both stops were fascinating deep dives into the process that makes the foods special and tasting a full ranger afterwards really gave us an appreciation of the products.
That was one of the best tours I've ever been on, private, great guide, incredible access. Our guide was an expert who was also personable.
Wow! This was a fantastic experience. Michelle is extraordinarily knowledgable about local food, art, wine, and culture. She has lived in the area all her life and is so passionate about what she does. She is a certified cheese taster and is pursuing her sommelier license so she really knows her stuff. Not only is she brilliant, but she is kind and very funny. She works hard to maintain strong relationships with local, and small scale producers who take pride in their work. There are countless tour options for food in Emilia Romagna but this group is the best. Book them today. Thanks, Michelle!
We spent a great afternoon with Michelle C. walking and eating our way across Parma and can only highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone! Michelle is a wonderful guide who is full of wonderful insight, history, and clearly an excellent ambassador for her home town. Our tour included stops to taste at a wonderful panini shop, a beautiful local restaurant for cheese, wine and pasta tasting, then onto a deli which just blows your mind. Dessert, coffee and even gelato rounded out our tour. We didn't eat beforehand and arrived with an empty stomach .. and walked away wanting for nothing. The tour is not by any means cheap, but the value is amazing. The private tour allowed us to walk, taste and experience the city in a way which is just not possible in a group tour.
Beatricia (sp?) was an excellent guide who knew a huge amount of information about both the making of Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto de Parma. We definitely appreciated visiting smaller family owned businesses. The tastings of both the cheese and ham were eye opening, revealing the differences that time and craft can have. The prosciutto tour is not for your vegetarian friends, but otherwise highly recommend this half day tour.
Serena was a terrific guide - very knowledgeable and entertaining. She included the right amount of historical information as we learned about the process of producing Parmigiano Reggiano and prosciutto di parma. The two production facilities were family-run businesses, and we got to see the production processes up close (as in splashed by the milk) before tasting the cheese and ham. The tasting was a highlight, but seeing the warehouses where the product is aged was also very cool. Thanks also to Guido for driving us around!
We had a fantastic time wit our guide, Brabara. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a truly unique private experience. We were the only ones around for most of the time - we saw other large groups in passing but had a really intimate experience.
The entire tour was very professional and memorable. From the intricacies of the Parmigiano Reggiano process to the cellars of the Prosciutto di Parma. Beatrice was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience so exciting.
I recently had the pleasure of embarking on the Half Day Private Emilia Foodie Experience tour, and it exceeded all my expectations in every way possible. This tour is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine and wants to explore the rich culinary traditions of Emilia-Romagna.
This Parma Food tour was great! Beatrice was so knowledgeable on all subjects. Our experience was one we will remember and the cheese and Parma ham tasting was unforgettable. Thank you, Beatrice for a lovely day!!
This experience is a must for families with children so they get a private one on one attention with observing Parmesan cheese in the making. Barbara was an absolute delight, and is very knowledgeable of Parmesan cheese process, Parma ham process, and is more than willing to answer any questions you have. Thank you Barbara!
Wonderful experience. A "must do" if you are visiting the area. They went beyond our expectations. Thanks!
