Inside Notre Dame: Enter the 12th and 13th-century Gothic monument. Discover more than 450,000 square feet of cream-colored limestone that has been meticulously stripped of ash, lead dust and centuries of accumulated grime, leaving its soaring vaults, thick columns and tall walls almost startlingly bright, calling out with celestial magnetism. Admire and enjoy the craftsmanship of over 2,000 workers and craftsmen from around France who contributed to the cathedral’s reconstruction. Discover the new liturgical furniture, like the altar; peered at delicately sculpted scenes from the life of Christ. Marvel at gold-leaf stars set across a deep blue ceiling in one of the painted side chapels; and look up at cherubs on the oculus, a ring of stone at the centre of the four vaults that form the cathedral’s transept crossing. Admire the cathedral’s central nave, that has been restored creating the foundation for one of the most spectacular architectural masterpieces ever constructed.
Where we measure the distance of Paris from other places. Step on it to come back to Paris. Where criminals used to repent before their execution.
Walk onto the plaza in front of the cathedral, which is also in the process of being redesigned to open it up toward the Seine River and to help millions of visitors flow through more easily and comfortably. The flower market has attracted avid gardeners and curious passersby since 1830. Excellent tour. Violeta was so knowledgeable and set a perfect pace for our group. Be sure to get the option that allows you to enter St. Chappelle.
Great experience with great guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. Guide took her time answering questions and giving personable insight.
It was an amazing tour! Our guide was great. Very knowledgeable! We learned a lot about the history of the Notre Dame
Great tour with Nina! She really knows a lot of history about Paris!! We went on the Notre Dame tour. Nina was very informative!
Touring the Notre Dame Cathedral was an inspirational experience for us. But what made this experience far better was our tour guide, Nina. She’s extremely knowledgeable in the Cathedral and the surrounding areas, and she takes great pleasure in presenting her knowledge. Nina is a professional who definitely knows her job but more importantly, she’s a genuinely nice person.
Violeta was excellent!! She was very knowledgeable and seemed to really care to make sure that we received a lot of information about what the place we were visiting. Highly recommend her.
Gives you background history of the area. You have time to explore the cathedral and San Chappell was impressive. Stain glass beautiful. Carole excellent guide and very animated. True joy!!
Our Guide Violete was exceptional in every way! Informative and easy to understand and follow along during the tour.
It was just a wonderful experience! Tour guide Nina was helpful and knowledgeable - on time and pleasant! I recommend the experience to everyone visiting Paris...
Informative and knowledgeable A lot of information Thanks Nina
Good tour, by our guide Nina, of the exterior and areas surrounding the Cathedral. Tour does not include the interior, as I don't think any "tours" are permitted inside the Cathedral (but there is no entry fee). I highly recommend you visit the Cathedral earlier in the AM, as the lines for entry are longer and longer as the day progresses. The meeting point for the start of the tour was somewhat difficult to locate.
Notre Dame is one of the most toured locations in Paris, so there can be large crowds. In our case, there were unusually large crowds, but the line to access the interior moved quite briskly. It didn't seem like a long wait to get inside. Note that security is strict, and if you have anything that resembles a weapon, such as a substantial selfie stick, or a walking stick not used for its obvious purpose, you will be denied entry.
Violetta was greatest we had a great time and learned a lot
Violeta was great. Engaging, knowledgeable, and organized.
Nina did a great job with the history and the right amount of time with all the explanations.
We loved it, Allan was a very pleasant informative guide. We all enjoyed it tremendously. I would highly recommend it
Lovely time great guide even though the weather was terrible
An excellent tour! We saw the Notre Dame, flower market, and Saint Chappel. Violetta gave interesting information while we waited in lines. She made a few smart adjustments due to inclement weather—and we appreciated her quick thinking. We thoroughly enjoyed our tours! We highly recommend these tours!
Carole was an amazing guide and so knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history of France, the area surrounding the churches plus the architecture as well.
The guide, Violeta, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. She not only gave us facts but also insights into the history of the island, Notre Dame, its destruction and reconstruction. She shared personal experiences with us and interacted with us as we toured. It was an outstanding tour.
Our guide Abi was awesome! Tour was right length and great historical insight for the family with 3 teenagers.
A wonderful walking tour of Notre Dame and Saints Chapelle — the interiors and exteriors of Notre Dame are spectacular and so miraculously saved and reconstructed after a devastating fire. Sainte Chapelle has breathtaking stained glass windows on the upper level.
Violeta was great. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Norte dame
Nina was a wonderful, engaging, informative tour guide! She provided historical and nuanced information that truly helped our group to have a much better context of the Cathedral and surrounding area!
Our guide was informative and organized. She really helped us understand what we were seeing, and gave us information about the whole of the historic core.
Nina was a great tour guide! She knew all about the history of Paris and Île de la Cité and Notre Dame, and made the tour interactive and entertaining.
Very knowledgeable guide. But disappointing in being left on our own to tour the Cathedral. In other cities we had wonderful touts in side. We did see small groups of tours in the Cathedral.
Beautiful buildings and very interesting history lesson. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable .
Great tour! So much information I'd never heard. Our guide Violeta was some informative and friendly.
Violetta is fantastic! Very informative and interesting history.
The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and shared many historical things on the tour. Great Job Thank You
Violetta was an absolute star! She was immensely knowledgeable, genuinely friendly, and made us feel right at home in her city from the moment the tour started. If you want to experience a completely different side of Paris, this is the way to do it. Violetta brought the city’s darkest history to life as we wandered through eerie medieval alleyways, sharing captivating stories of scandals, haunted landmarks, and sinister legends. The entire experience struck the perfect balance between chilling history and French history. Ending the night at the wildly unique Dernier Bar Avant La Fin Du Monde was the ultimate cherry on top. I couldn't recommend Violetta and this tour enough—an unforgettable night out in Paris!
Katrina was an excellent guide. I learned a lot from her. It was easy to get in, very crowded inside. Note that guides are not able to talk inside the Cathedral, but she told us a lot of inside highlights before we entered. We spent quite a while outside listening to details about the outdoor aspect of the Cathedral and surrounding area.
We suggest the group should have earphones. Otherwise we couldn’t hear the guide clearly in the outdoors. There are people talking loudly and bells ringing. The guide is good but I don’t think she has enough time to introduce the Saint Chapelle in details.
Great tour. Skipped some of the lines. Tour guide was very informative and enjoyable. Plan about 2 hours to see everything on the island.
Nina was an excellent guide. Friendly and very informative. She added a bit of humorous insight too. She was also great with the children.
Violetta was so wonderful. Great tour guide.
Violeta was amazing and deserves more than five stars.
Great visit to Notre Dame and St. Chapelle. Book early as lines get long for Notre Dame. The guide does not join you inside either on this tour however Nina did a wonderful job explaining what we would see
The guide was average, difficult to understand. Could have toured Notre Dame on my own. Next time I will book through With Locals.
The guide was very informative, she provided history of the cathedral as well as the devastating fire and the repairs.
Becky was an amazing guide, she knew all the interesting details about Notre Dame. She was warm and friendly like touring with your family!! I would highly recommend her for any tour she is leading in Paris!!
Tour director very knowlegeable re renovations! Great walking tour Plenty of time to walk around inside cathedral and take pictures
We had a very good experience with Benedictine on our tour of Notre Dame/Saint Chapelle. She was helpful, courteous, and professional. She started the tour on time although not all members of the group had arrived. However, she was able to find them, and they joined us for the rest of the tour. Benedictine was able to give us helpful information on the history of the development of the city from its early days. She also.was knowledgeable about the history of Notre Dame including the recovery from the disastrous fire a few years ago. I would on a tour with her again.
Violeta is a wonderful tour guide. We learned so much from our time with her. I would highly recommend her as a guide.
Violeta was great! She gave us amazing history as well as local tips.
As there is no fee to enter Notre Dame you do not skip the line to get in. You line up with everyone else. Guide is not allowed in Notre Dame so really you don’t need a guide for the first part. I am still glad we went via an organized tour
It is well worth the visit. The history is fascinating and the artwork and architecture are stunning.
Excellent tour and great value for money. Violeta was a superb guide - well informed, friendly and professional. Thank you!
