This was a fabulous tour! Milan, our guide, took us through a local food market selling fresh produce, fish, and meats as well as prepared, ready to eat foods. He explained the history and current system of vendors markets in Paris. He took us to several different vendors where we tried samples and chose sausages, pates, cheeses, and fruits. We stopped at a bakery for baguettes. We walked to a private picnic area where he served wine as we ate the delicious food and had a delightful conversation. One of the best things we did in Paris.

As soon as I spotted Milan's picnic basket, I knew we were going to have a great time! This special tour blends delicious food, an authentic Parisian market visit, French history, and personal conversation into one fantastic experience. We started with a relaxed walk through a market, stopping at stalls to talk, taste, and buy. By the end, Milan had collected a beautiful assortment of cheeses, fruits, pate and baguettes for a wonderful feast that he expertly prepared for us on a blanket in a nearby park. Of course, a bottle of red wine made an appearance! Milan has an extensive knowledge of history which he communicated in a way that was very relevant and accessible. When he learned that we were from Boston with its own revolutionary history, he altered our tour in order to take us to a private church where Lafayette was buried. The location was magical and so unique. I highly recommend a tour with Milan. He is a treasure!
The Paris markets are a cornucopia of wonderful sights, smells and tastes, and Milan knows where each and every one of them is on which day of the week. Our market stroll and picnic was such a delight. It was so refreshing to do something non-touristy. The vendors kept offering us tastes of their goods, and it seemed like Milan knew all of them! Our picnic setting was idyllic and, of course, the cheese was magnifique! Along the way, Milan shared some of his extensive knowledge of the French Revolution and pointed out sights relating to that period in French history. This was our second day with Milan, and we would do more. Pick any of his tours. You won't regret it.
Great family experience! The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. I felt like a local while shopping at the market.
The market, the smells and the experience of seeing fresh, stunning produce from fruits to meats to cheeses was amazing. Milan provided interesting trivia and information about the markets and the source of each and everything we got. The trip to a boulangerie for fresh baguette and eclairs was super fun! The picnic spot was very quaint, especially the lovely chickens who accompanied us on the walk!
Milan was awesome as our tour guide! It was such an enjoyable experience for me and my daughter! Something unique activity if ever you are in Paris. Interact with locals, eat good cheese and pates and meet friends! We loved it!
The picnic with Milan was so fun! We started our tour with Milan at the Place de la Bastille and he provided a wealth of historical facts about the area and the French Revolution - it was fascinating! We then walked to a nearby local French Market and chose various treats for our picnic. It was so fun to wander through the market and be among the locals while choosing bread, cheese, meats, fruits and wine - the sights and smells were wonderful! We then walked to Place des Vosges and had a lovely picnic in this historic Paris Square. On top of all this fun, Milan was kind enough to guide us to a Metro Station at the end of the tour and helped us purchase tickets. Merci Beaucoup, MIlan! We strongly recommend Milan for any tour of Paris - you will be delighted!
What a great experience our family had on our Food Market shopping trip and Picnic with Milan. We met local food sellers at the market who Milan knows so well. Milan showed us a wonderful side of Paris life we never would have experienced! Chatting and trying so many different foods that were offered by many of the friendly vendors. Then deciding what we wanted for our picnic was just so much more fun than you would expect it to be. We learned some real interesting history on the French revolution that happened right by the market and then he brought us to a very unique place for our picnic. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely do it again when we come back to Paris. I do ALOT of research before I bring my family on vacation and I'm certain you will enjoy this tour!
It is often hard to keep the attention of teens and pre-teens. The day in the market in Paris did that. Milan encouraged the kids to interact with the vendors in French. They enjoyed trying different cheese and fruits. We all had a great time! Thanks Milan!
Milan was a wonderful guide and taught us so much about France and the historical highlights of the great city of Paris. We loved experiencing the informal and friendly atmosphere of the Parisian market. Milan was a great conversationalist and the food was DELICIOUS!! It was really interesting seeing Paris from the local perspective—Highly recommend this tour!
What a great day we had with Milan! We can’t say enough about the experience~ from the market to the picnic and everything in between, we couldn’t have asked for a better day! Thank you Milan for showing us a part of Paris most people don’t see! It was charming and fun and a perfect day in every way! We would highly recommend Milan as your guide! You’ll love every minute!
Our most memorable eating experience in France was our food market visit and picnic by With Love From Paris. It is very special. We visited a beautiful food market and then had a wonderful picnic on the grounds just outside a historic castle and church. I recommend With Love From Paris and it’s guide Milan who was friendly and versed in a number of French topics.
When we were greeted by Milan it felt as though we had just reconnected with a good friend. The tour of the Farmers Market was absolutely delicious. My husband and my girls had the opportunity to taste wonderful, fresh food. Milan, is extremely knowledgeable and very patient. After collecting all of our delights through the market we went to a medieval castle (Vincennes) to enjoy all of our finds. This is a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Highly recommended tour.
Enjoyed the guide who was very friendly and likable. We picked out what we wanted for lunch at a local food market which focused on fresh fruit in season, an abundance of cheese, some dried meats (we skipped the fresh horse) and the like. Visited a local bakery for fresh baguettes and then went to the grounds of a castle (via subway) where we enjoyed our picnic on a blanket with beverage of our choice. .
If you don't do this tour or any tour from his selection you are missing out on an amazing experience! I signed up for this tour on purpose as I love markets as they remind me of my experience growing up in the Caribbean and going to the markets to get fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, etc. to pick up the things needed for meals for that day or week. Little did I know I was in for a full blown tour of the Bastille area with the most knowledgeable guide, Milan. From the moment we met I felt like I had come to visit an old friend and they were taking me around their neighborhood. Milan made you feel comfortable all while sharing so much information on the places we went, things we say, vendors we spoke to and helped me get comfortable speaking French again. The picnic at the end was the icing on the cake. Just hanging out in the park, enjoying our market purchases, chatting like two old buddies: priceless! This tour was amazing and certainly a highlight on my solo trip to Paris. I wish there was a higher rating to give because Milan deserves it! Don't even look anywhere else, book Milan tout de suite!
Really enjoyed this authentic market experience! Milan showed helped us navigate a local market, taught us some helpful French phrases, and showed us around a neighborhood we probably wouldn’t have otherwise visited. Check out this tour if you like to get off the beaten track and enjoy some locally sourced food!
We had a lovely walk through areas we would have never found on our own. Milan could tell us everything. In Thieme lovely areas he brought us to the local food suppliers with the best products, tell him what you like and he comes with a whole plate full of lovelyness. Later on he finds a beautifull park where we strike down and enjoy the environment and eat and chat. It was a splendid afternoon!
This was my first tour and daytime experience in Paris and I could not have chosen better. Milan was generous with his time, kind, friendly and gave me lots of opportunities to practice my practical French and conversation. By chance, I had a private tour - loved the market experience, the delicious picnic and all of Milan’s tips and knowledge about Paris. Highly recommended.
My daughter (8) and I had a fabulous time. It was just the two of us. Milan took us to a market and taught my daughter how to buy things. Then we went to the park for a picnic. It was a great way to see Paris life and Milan went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this tour and any others tha Milan does. It was wonderful!
The market was fantastic, Milan is a perfect guide, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, always going above and beyond and exceeding expectations. We talked to winemakers and cheese makers to decide what to get, discussed all manner of interesting details about the produce and the neighborhood. Milan even gave me a fabulous recipe for salmon tartare! This was my most special meal in Paris, the fruit, oysters, cheese, wine, and everything we got was beyond delicious. The park was lovely, and Milan topped everything off with a surprise visit to the home of the writer Victor Hugo, just round the corner from the market. Not to be missed by anyone remotely interested in food and the Paris lifestyle in general.
We really enjoyed the experience of visiting a real street market in Paris with Milan. Before we started the visit, He give us a little introduction of the history and curious details of the place where the market was located, then we went to explore the stands buying all the necessary for our picnic. In the way to the park, we bought bread and wine to finish our menu. Everything was fresh and delicious. At the end, as an extra activity, we went to visit the Victor Hugo house with him (also give us some tips of what other interesting places were around there). I'd recommend the tour, we had a great time talking about history, food, wine and life.
What a perfect start to a great trip. Milan tailors the experience to your likes and needs and he makes you feel like a local. I chose this experience because I wanted to feel like I had lived in Paris forever. Gently strolling through the market, with additional historical tidbits because Milan also does a fabulous French Revolution tour, we spoke with the merchants, tried various fruits and cheeses and chose an excellent assortment of snacks. Then we went and had a lovely picnic at a castle. Writing it, I feel like it comes off as touristic, but no, we were sitting with couples young and old from the district who were taking the opportunity to enjoy the lovely weather. What a great way to spend a Wednesday. We sat and ate and talked about everything and never had an awkward silence we needed to fill. I highly recommend this experience for those who want to feel like a local, or imagine the life they wish they had in Paris. Milan is a great host and enjoyable company, a new friend and neighbor.

A absolutely wonderful experience! Milan was a fountain of information concerning not only the culinary aspects of our picnic and market visit, but also the history of Paris. The time flew by. Milan showed us everything in the market from the breads, to the cheeses to the meats and the wines and the fruit. What a delight for the senses! He then took us to a very nice park to enjoy our market delicacies. He is also an accomplished photographers and took many photos of us. Oh by the way, he speaks English perhaps better than I do. I highly recommend this tour without reservation and I know you will enjoy it thoroughly as well.

Milan went out of his way to make sure we understood and appreciated everything in the market from the bread to the cheeses to the fruits to the language of the market itself. He looked for photo opportunities and made sure we were comfortable with our selections. His selection of a quiet park for our picnic was delightful and we passed our time with a wide variety of topics of conversation. Milan is an excellent host and I hope that you will enjoy his expertise and company as much as we did.
