Itinerary
The Eiffel Tower was built by French engineer Gustave Eiffel, for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris. This magnificent technical feat was achieved in a mere two years, two months and five days. It stands 324 metres tall, and the metal structure weighs 7,300 tonnes. Parisians were scandalised by its metallic look and height. It was built to last 20 years. A radio antenna was added to the top in 1903, saving the tower from demolition. It has now become the monument symbolic of Paris.
The American Church in Paris with its green clock-tower was the first American Church built outside the US, in 1931. The stained-glass windows by Louis Comfort Tiffany have been listed as a historic monument.
With its golden dome over the royal chapel, the Hotel des Invalides was built to the orders of Louis XIV as a military hospital for injured soldiers and officers. Today, the royal chapel houses the tomb of France’s first Emperor, Napoleon I.
Alexandre III bridge was built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and to seal the Franco-Russian Alliance. Its central feature is the Paris coat of arms covered in gold leaf and two nymphs symbolising the river Seine. On the other side of the bridge, you’ll see the arms of Saint Petersburg, and two nymphs symbolising the river Neva.
Pont de la Concorde was built using stones from the former Bastille prison after it was famously stormed during the French Revolution in 1789. It leads to the Palais Bourbon on your right, seat of the National Assembly, and to your left to the Place de la Concorde.
The former Orsay railway station, built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris, which had a railway line leading to the south-west of France, was turned into a museum in the 1980s to house 19th-century art, including works by the greatest Impressionists and Post-Impressionists such as Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
The Institut de France, former Collège des Quatre Nations, was built using funds bequeathed by cardinal Mazarin in 1661. It houses five academies, the most famous being the Académie Française. Its members’ job is to contribute to the French language, updating and modifying the official French dictionary.
The Pont Neuf, or New Bridge, which is actually the oldest bridge in Paris was the first Parisian bridge to be built in stone with pavements rather than houses lining it. It features 381 grimacing stone masks, all individually decorated and unique.
Pont Saint-Michel, built at the request of Napoleon III, hence the two imperial Ns on its pillars. To the right, it leads to the Latin Quarter, so called because students at the University of Paris there spoke Latin until the 19th century.
Ile de la Cité is the presumed birthplace of Paris. The Parisii tribe first settled here 300 years before the Common Era, calling the island Lutetia.
Paris’s Gothic masterpiece, Notre-Dame Cathedral. Its construction started in 1163 and was completed nearly two centuries later, in 1345. The cathedral features a host of gargoyles and sculptures. The south rose window, called the Rose du Midi, is dedicated to the New Testament and was a gift from the French king, Saint Louis.
The Tournelle Bridge, and on its right, a statue of Saint Genevieve, patron saint of Paris, with her back to us. It was sculpted by Paul Landowski, who later sculpted the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
The Arab World Institute was inaugurated in 1987 by president François Mitterrand. The cultural centre focuses on history, art, society, religions and science in the Arab world.
Featuring former town houses dating from the 17th century, like the Hotel Lambert and the Hotel Lauzun, Ile Saint Louis is one of the most prestigious areas of Paris. Many celebrities have lived there, including Charles Baudelaire and Georges Moustaki.
Since 1357, the Hotel de Ville de Paris has been the seat of the Paris City Council. The construction draws much inspiration from Neo-Renaissance style. It is open to visitors, you can visit the banquet hall, designed to the template of the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles.
The Louvre museum used to be a royal palace. It was turned into a museum in 1793. It is the largest monument in Paris with over four kilometres of façades and nearly 14 kilometres of galleries. The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world, exhibiting 38,000 works, including the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Venus de Milo and of course the Mona Lisa.
The place de la Concorde was where King Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie-Antoinette were executed during the French Revolution. The central feature is an obelisk from Luxor in Egypt. It is 34 centuries old and was brought to France in 1836.
Built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris, the Grand Palais is a great feat of architecture. Its glass roof is considered to be the largest in Europe. It has now become a venue for cultural events and exhibitions, a funfair and the largest skating rink in Europe.
The Palais de Chaillot is located on the place du Trocadero. Built in 1937 for the Universal Exhibition, it comprises two Neoclassical pavilions, flanking an esplanade that overlooks the Trocadero gardens. It houses the City of Architecture and Heritage, the National Navy Museum, the Museum of Humankind, and the National Theatre of Chaillot.

The tour guide was great-he was very informative and easy to understand. We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend.
Very good! Tout est parfait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!¡¡!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This river cruise was lovely. The view from the water was a great way to see the sight in a relaxing manner. The tour guide was excellent.
Our cruise time and route was modified just a day before due to the Pope's visit. However, boarding was smooth and it wasnt difficult finding the meeting point. The boat is quiet which helps. We booked the english-guided boat but no one mentioned that it would be done in both French and English which can be confusing. The guide gave all the important highlights on the sites we could see. Boat is just the right size so not too many people.
A good overview of the Seine around and about L’Isle Cite. It is a good way to begin your sightseeing in Paris. Especially since the dock is at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
Very knowledgeable tour guide and interesting cruise with a lovely refreshing breeze from the river. I had to move as felt annoyed by young teenagers behind me who were constantly loud and boistorous and were using my seat as a stool and I'm glad I did as I took a better view surrounded by more mature adults and I could hear the tour guide. Recommended 100%. Thanks.
This was a great and very affordable way to experience Paris from a different perspective. We got amazing views of the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and many of the beautiful bridges along the Seine while taking in the city from the water. We sat in the front and had some of the best views, which I definitely recommend! The only downside was that we couldn’t hear the narrator very well because the speaker in the front didn’t seem to be working properly. Overall, it was an inexpensive and enjoyable activity, and I would definitely recommend adding a Seine River cruise to your Paris itinerary!
Perfect midday activity. We went right after going to mass at Notre Dame and absolutely had a perfect day. Temperature was comfortable the wind was blowing and we got a great overview of the sites that we passed. So fun to see the city from a different angle. The guide presented good information and helped us gain our perspective in the city.9
The tour is very relaxing and interesting way to see the iconic sights along the Seine. Highly recommend it.
Slow bar service, obviously a trainee or someone who was very new. Guide provided over speakers not headphone so was very hard to hear. Also narration was done in French and heavily-French-accented English. Combine the two factors, I couldn’t understand much of the tour
Gentle coast along the river, with a very knowledgeable host...spoken enthusiastically in both Français and English!
Exactly what we expected. Very nice. Only gripe was the bar service was rather slow. The tour guide was great and boat was nice.
Loved having the narrator and she was excellent. Boats are clean and not crowded. Highly recommend this tour.
The tour guide did a great job explaining the history of everything we saw, in both English and French. They were very accommodating to our family member that was in a wheelchair. We also were able to sit in shaded areas. I highly recommend!
Boat trip was nice, however bar staff were grumpy, drinks overpriced and they were still serving beer that was only dripping out as machine was not working properly
We paid extra for the live guide and the nicer boat but I wish I had gone with the other companies. There was no guide at all so we had no idea what we were looking at, it was so hot and we were in direct sun the whole time we couldn’t even purchase cold beverages at our own expense.
The narrator did a fantastic job of telling us interesting and important things about all the buildings along the river. She did this in both English and French and it was impressive because she also did it by memory, she didn’t read to us or have notes. The ride was smooth and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!
Cruise on seine was amazing! We were able to see so much and the views very breathtaking! The guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience a lot more enjoyable
Very nice and relaxing guided river cruise, definitely would recommend
You get a good view from the boat. The tour guide was ok.
We enjoyed the cruise and thought it was both relaxing and informational. It was a hot day and so it was nice to relax on the covered deck while listening to the interesting facts about the different sites. It was also nice to get a different perspective of the monuments and buildings. The staff and crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks and light snacks were available for purchase during the cruise (card only) The Seine cruise fits into an enjoyable day of sightseeing and was the perfect addition after a visit to the Eiffel Tower as the starting point is very close. Definitely recommend this cruise when visiting Paris.
Easy to find, just the right amount of time, could hear everything and guide was very fluent in French and English
Well worth the money and very informative! Easy meeting instructions and had an on board bar which was a nice touch.
Easy to find the boat company at dock on Seine. Tour guide was amazing and she talked about sights and buildings the whole trip in both English and French. We sat inside due to rain. Boat was fairly quiet. There was a snack bar with drinks available to purchase.
Delightful river cruise with informative guide my friends and I had a lovely cruise despite the rain
Plenty of seats , good amount of time on the river and a very knowledgeable guild
Unless you can sit up top you have NO idea what you are seeing. We got there 15 minutes before cruise and had to sit downstairs as upstairs was completely filled. Tried to get on next tour but it didn’t work. We were looking forward to learning about Paris and its historic sites. That didn’t happen. VERY DISAPPOINTED
Even with a designated time/ticket, we still had to wait on a line and didn't get onto the boat we were scheduled to (although we were there on time). Wasn't a big deal because one left 15 minutes later, but you'd expect if you have a ticket to be able to board.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Crystal at Notre Dame. She was knowledgeable, expressive and had a gentle calming attitude. It took us awhile to figure out the meeting place was across the street from the cathedral but that was the only hiccup in an otherwise great experience.
An excellent 1 hour round trip from the Eiffel Tower to the end of the Ile de la Cite. Excellent guide giving lots of information in French + English. 100% electric boat so smooth and quiet. WC (but only one) on board. Embarkation was trouble-free and the boat kept to schedule (it was not over-busy). Highly recommended.
Get there early enough to get a seat on the 2nd floor of the boat, other wise you’ll have to stand to see the views. If you miss a view don’t worry as you’ll circle back to see it again
The boat tour was magical! We ended with a gorgeous sunset and the Eiffel Tower lighting up! Our tour guide was very good!
A lovely relaxing experience with a beautiful bilingual host! Great way to sit back and see the main attractions with some history explained.
Guide kept my 11-year old’s attention and did a good job of narrating in two languages (French and English). Boat was comfortable and not overcrowded (probably due to the cold weather).
Easy to starting spot, very informative and interesting history, easy walking, friendly guide. Great tour!
We missed our reservation. They informed us that our tickets are good for 30 days which was very accommodating. Also, our adult son has a disability so they priority queued our group of 5 people ahead of those already in line.
Nice cruise, even in winter. The boat was warm and the view was good. The narration on sights seen enhanced the excursion.
It can be chilly and windy on the top deck in October /November. Bring a hat! The guide was excellent. It is a delightful excursion and worth every penny. We recommend this trip and cruise line
Great cruise with friendly staff. Unique view of landmarks and the architecture of Paris. We had a great time overall. Highly recommend walking along the Seine afterward.
This was a smaller cruise which was exactly what i wanted--the docent spoke in both French and English and was fantastic! I really enjoyed all the information and seeing sights from the water and not having a huge crowd to contend with.
The boat ride was as expected. But on October 13 the guide’s English was very difficult to understand. This why only three stars.
Nice river ride and tour. You have to listen very carefully to understand the English tour guide but we enjoyed it and indulged in champagne and crepes!
Great guide and commentary! We really enjoyed it and would do again and/or recommend to anyone in Paris.
Beautiful river cruise down the Siena through Paris. Great way to see the city! Tour guide was very good and the guide in the free accompanying app was also very informative.
Beautiful day weather wise and it was a very relaxing tour. Guide pointed out significant buildings and told brief stories about each. It was very nice
Very disappointed to arrive and be told our tour was cancelled. Contacted Viator directly because tour operator didn’t notify us of the cancellation until we arrived to check in for the tour. I understand boats break down but communication shouldn’t.
Tour was cancelled due to mechanical problems….we were informed if this at the dock after spending 36 euros on an uber! we did not receive text notification—-just an email—which I did not check before departure. Viator has been so good at informing us of departure reminders, etc. on prior tours—why did they not text us this time!??
Excellent tour on a lovely electric boat. Visited Paris in September and this was the 10:45 tour for 1 hour. The boat wasn’t overcrowded so plenty of space to move around and take pictures. Also a little cafe onboard for refreshments. Highly recommend!
The boat was excellent my wife is in a wheelchair and had front view went under 20 bridges saw a lot of great sites well worth the money
