We wanted to understand the history of the Impressionists and Montmartre. Ana was knowledgeable and a wonderful storyteller. She brought it all to life. As we walked the streets, we felt as if we could go back in time. She offered many insights that put things into perspective and fired our imaginations at the same time. Because she is an artist herself, her sensibilities and integrity added to the entire experience.

Welly was truly informative, but not overloading us with information. He was polite, funny, answered our many questions and engaged in conversation. He was able to show us parts of Montmarte that we never would have found on our own. It was our favorite part of our trip and wish we would have booked more tours with him for a true Parisian experience.
Excellent guide! Welly was the perfect host . Even on a cold and chilly day we had a great time. Welly was very accommodating and made stops for us to try out local cafés. I would definitely recommend.
The Paris Saint-Oeun flea market can be overwhelming! In fact, my husband and I have bern there many times. Our tour with Lucien made all the difference! He’s smart and interesting as well as flexible. He helped us find a beautiful, hand-carved statue of the Virgin Mary … even though his speciality is a market overview rather than finding specific items.
Great tour. I wouldn’t have wanted to try exploring the market without Lucien’s historical knowledge and expert guidance. We saw all the things we wanted to see and places we wouldn’t have found on our own in half the time it would have taken us if we had to figure it out for ourselves.
Our family of four (two adults, two teens) had a wonderful experience on our tour with Ana. She was warm, knowledgeable and thorough. She kept the tour going at a good pace, shared insights into many of the people buried in Pere Lachaise, both well known and obscure, and also shared a great deal of fascinating knowledge about the history of the cemetery itself. We would all highly recommend a tour with Ana!
Maxime (our guide) had a perfect approach with our family, being flexible and versatile, extremely kind and gentle. Furthermore, the information and knowledge he brought, as well as the places he took us, were pitoresque, interesting and very edifying! (History of the city, of the neighborhood, of arts etc.). We will definitely seek Maxime for more experiences on our next visit to Paris.
We booked our Montmartre tour with Max on a rainy and gloomy winter day. Max was a great sport, led us through hidden alleys and passageways. We stopped to warm up in churches and coffee shop. The area is spectacular and it helped to have a knowledgeable guide to discover gems off the beaten path. Maxime is a history and art buff, and will gladly engage in philosophical and cultural discussions. Book him if these subjects resonate with you too. He sent us off with suggestions for further discoveries and restaurant recommendations.
Nella gave us an artistic tour of Montmatre and it was extremely fascinating. She is very personable and engaging. We had a fun few hours together learning and seeing so much. Do not hesitate to book a tour with her. The price-value of all With Locals tours in Paris are very very expensive compared to others I have taken in Italy and Spain but not Nella’s fault.
Welly was excellent. Booked last minute and he customized the best afternoon! It couldn’t have been better except for the weather (but in December who can complain?) I would not hesitate to recommend Welly and WithLocals. Worth every penny.
Andrea has a love of history and how it all works. As we walked through Montmartre, with various stops along the way, he easily relayed how the neighborhood evolved over the years and the role the arts and other social factors played in that evolution. Andrea makes wonderful connections between the present and the past. These connections made for a lively walk and wonderful conversations about the past and present and future with a beautiful neighborhood spurring it all on, hosted by Andrea.
Nella did a phantastic tour with us! She was very entertaining, very knowledgeable and a very nice person to guide you. We loved the tour and it will be an unforgettable event.
I had a lovely tour with Nella. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and a joy to spend time with. She provided a personalised itinerary and I felt that I got a glimpse of Parisian life, the way it should be. Great conversation too!
Lucien took my two teenage sons on his tour. Both are studying Napoleon for 'A' level. They were riveted by the experience, finding Lucien to be an informed, amusing, engaged and engaging guide. He brought a touch of quirkiness, which kept them amused, and even sent them a list of links to Napoleon-related films afterwards. Thoroughly worthwhile experience.
Louis was a perfect guide for our walking tour. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and we covered a huge range of topics from current affairs, architecture, philosophy, food and culture. And such a good host. We had great fun popping into shops to sample and buy. And the entire tour was bespoke. Louis took great care and attention to plan and show us the parts of Paris we were interested in. Thanks so much!
Friends who had recently been to Paris recommended Withlocals, and after looking through all the guides we decided to go with Giedre. She was excellent! She was waiting for us at the designated spot with a smile on her face, and spent just over 3 hours taking us on a personal walking tour through Paris, with some stops along the way to for some quick shopping or to grab a drink at our request. Her knowledge and passion about the history and architecture of Paris was apparent from the start, and she had a great ability to share the history and stories of all the places we passed in such an interesting way and answer our questions. It was really fun exploring Paris with a local, and she was full of helpful little tidbits of information, like when we took the Metro together to one spot she told us to make sure our pockets were zipped and our bags were held close because of pickpocketing, or took us to a street with an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower that tourists don't frequent but where the locals like to go. She also shared some of her own personal recommendations for areas to visit, restaurants she loves, good places to buy posters or grab a cafe latte. She curated the tour a bit based on some of the things we wanted to see and do, and at the end dropped us off at an amazing cafe that won the award for the best croissants in Paris in 2023 where we had an incredible lunch. If you're willing to splurge a bit on a private tour (it is expensive) I would highly recommend Withlocals for an elevated experience touring Paris, and if you do a walking tour, you can't go wrong with Giedre. She's absolutely lovely and delightful and is sure to make your tour a wonderful afternoon in Paris.
My wife and I very much enjoyed our tour of Montmartre with Murielle. She was very personable and knowledgeable about the area. We appreciated that she did the tour in french as we requested so we could practice our french as we toured the area. She willingly tailored the tour to our interests. Towards the end the rain was starting to get to us so we ducked into a cafe to enjoy a coffee to round out the tour.
We really enjoyed our Paris WWII Resistance tour with Lucien. He is clearly passionate and knowledgable about the subject and we enjoyed getting to know him a bit.
We had a great tour with Welly! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to spend time with. He adapted perfectly to the various needs of our group and taught us a lot of interesting information. The walk exceeded our expectations and was definitely worth every penny, would recommend Welly to anyone! He even shared some great restaurants with us and we have gone to a few!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time with Gelsomina who showed us parts of Paris we had never seen before even though we had been here many times. It is worth the experience thankyou Gelsomina for being a well trusted tour guide.
We spent the afternoon wandering the streets of Montmartre with Nella. We had a fantastic artists view of the history of the suburb, which we really enjoyed and learnt about some of the more hidden aspects as well. We even popped into the local craft brewery which was a treat! It’s not always easy to keep a family of 5 ( kids 17,15,10), but Nella did a great job of chatting to each of us throughout the tour, making sure each of us got something out of it. Thoroughly recommend this tour with Nella
Welly is interesting fellow, ready to converse rather than lecture. However, sometimes it seemed he was reciting a memorized page or two. He was a cheerful man.
Ana was very knowledgeable and engaging. She answered our many questions throughout the tour. Not only did we learn lots about the many artists and writers who lived in the area, Ana told us an array of stories about their lives giving context and showing the various ways that connected the vibrant communities we walked through. Her tour is a must for those interested in the Impressionists and Montmartre.
Anukool is amazing. His knowledge of Paris history and its inner workings is remarkable. The presentation was personable and he welcomed all questions, even off topic, and answered clearly and concisely. We hope to contact him again during our current visit. He is worth at least two tours per visit! Thank you Anukool your time with us will be remembered.
We enjoyed our tour with Lucien. He is very knowledgeable about French and European history, which he wove into stories about the places we visited. We have a better understanding of the link between the architecture and monarchies in Paris. If you enjoy history and period stories, Lucien will provide a very enjoyable tour.
Joao is an amazing guide and photographer. My sister and I had so much fun wandering the streets with him and meeting locals in various shops. We leaned so much about the area and really felt like we were traveling with a friend. We love our photos and the time we spent. Joao answered questions for us and even went above and beyond to help us find a driver for another day trip we were taking. Frankly, he really saved us a lot of trouble! We are forever grateful. Do this activity! You will not be disappointed
We took this tour with Welly. He did an excellent job in showing us around, as this is our first time to Paris. He gave us a comprehensive overview of the city and we got to see firsthand why Paris is one of the most traveled cities in the world. Great tour with a great guide!
Guide was amazing and knowledge was on point! We had the best time with him we booked it so we did it first thing off the plane highly reccomend
Anukool was very informative. He was knowledgeable and personable. He claimed to be a foodie and historian, and that was evident on our tour. He personalized the tour to our own interest. We enjoyed his tour so much we extended our tour, an extra two hours! He made our daughter’s day by wrapping the day up with an Emily in Paris sneak peek. Thank you again Anukool!!
Had a wonderful 3 hours with Welly. He showed us sights we would not have seen in other tours along with a history of Paris. Well worth the money.
We had the pleasure of having Welly as our guide in Paris, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. His vast and varied knowledge of all things Paris truly enriched our visit. Welly was not only professional and insightful but also incredibly thoughtful in his approach. He managed to engage every member of our party, ranging in age from 10 to 70, with ease. His ability to connect with and captivate such a diverse group speaks volumes about his skills as a guide. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an unforgettable Parisian adventure!
We adored our tour with Anukool! The span and depth of knowledge he has on .... EVERYTHING ... was just astounding. His easy-going personality made it a fun adventure as he led us around the city and shared fascinating stories. You can't go everywhere in just 3 hours, but Anukool was totally flexible and let us choose what parts we wanted to explore with him. Then gave us tips on the things we would be doing later in the trip on our own. Anukool was the perfect way to kick off our stay in Paris! :)
Joao was a wonderful guide and photographer! We really appreciated his flexibility. Our kids were a bit jet lagged, we were up against some rainy weather, and, we had a train to catch right after our tour. Juan couldn't have been kinder to our family! His flexibility was much appreciated. We have been to Paris before, but never Montmartre. Juan showed us some amazing shops that the average tourist may just walk by... yes there are some big sites in the area, but the small shops are so much more charming. We could have spent hours visiting each one! Our kids loved buying treats, and we saw so much more with Juan who could navigate the busy crowds like a pro. The photos came out beautiful and we will treasure them forever.
We had the best time on our WithLocals tour with Livia around Montmartre! This was such a wonderful way to experience a new area of the city and get the best recommendations and history of the area. We had my 90+ year old grandparents with us, and having the ability to be flexible and move the tour at our own pace was amazing. Overall, a truly fantastic experience that created many lasting memories!
We had a fantastic tour of Monmarte with Joao. He was very patient with our children. It was fun to hear the history of the area and we are excited to see our photos. He explained to us the history of the baguette competition and got us one to try. Thank you, Joao!
What a great tour of cemetery Pere Lachaise!! Ana is very knowledgeable and makes the tour very enjoyable . Although this tour is 3- hours long , Ana makes so entertaining that it seems a lot shorter . I strongly recommend this awesome tour
We messaged Paolo and within 1 hour we were wandering the sunny streets of beautiful Montmartre with him . So knowledgeable, friendly , and an expert in architecture . It was a fantastic 2.5 meander with an expert guide . An excellent experience . Thanks
Paolo was really informative and enthusiastic about history and the lifestyles of the people. Great at connecting everything together.
Welly was knowledgeable and entertaining! He told of the fascinating history of Montmarte in a short 3 hours. Highly recommend.
Great time just walking around the Louvre and Latin area, very casual and nice pace. Highlight was the Luxemburg gardens.
Our With Locals tour guide, Isabel, created a special tour of the Latin Quarter focused on Marie Curie and other strong woman of Paris. She did research ahead of time to find special places to help my daughters learn about their favorite scientist. Isabel was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. She went at our pace and was very flexible with changes needed. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
Bibiana gave us a great tour of Montemartre, showing us the windmills, the places where famous artists lived, the easy walking path to Sacre Coure, how to order a coffee & much more. Well worth it!
It was wonderful! Gelsomina was fantastic! She catered the tour just for us and was very knowledgeable! Highly recommend her.
We had a great tour with Paolo from the Louvre across Paris, ending at Place de la Concorde. Paolo gave us a very good overview of French and Parisian history, coupled with very practical information. The view of the city from the terrace of Lafayette was marvellous. Overall a very informative and entertaining 3 hour tour! Many thanks again
We did a WWII French resistance tour with Lucien. His grasp of the history and the specific details were incredible. His deep knowledge and preparation was quite evident. Also, his ability to relay it to us was great. There is no way we could have done this on our own. Definitely a value added tour and worth the money. I give him the highest praise.
Paolo is an excellent host/guide. Our tour was informative and interesting. He adjusted the pace for our groups needs and is very gracious. Would definitely book him again. Highly recommend
We had a great time with Joao on our photo tour of Montmartre. Having lived in the neighborhood for 20+ years, he is wealth of knowledge, and it was lovely to leisurely stroll around and learn about the history of Montmartre and how it has changed over the years. We stopped and got snacks at a couple places, he pointed out the THREE "Meilleure Baguette de Tradition Française" on Rue des Abbesses as well as other "best of" spots, including ones that locals go to. He talked about Amelie changed parts of the neighborhood. On top of everything else, we got a folder of great, edited photos of our family to remember the outing and our trip. He was also incredibly engaging with our kids (see photo)
Our tour of the Marais with Paolo was wonderful. He's a treasure trove of information and stories - and explains everything in the most engaging way. Was a delight to wander the streets of the Marais with him and hear all about the history and culture. Plenty of humour too. Really memorable.
This was a very bad experience. We went to the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour. We were unable to find our English speaking tour guide. The Spanish speaking tour guide assured us they would be there soon. Eventually we met up with the group which was about 50 people! The information presented made it sound like the groups would be a small group. After we got through the first line the group was divided into 2 groups of about 25. Our tour guide had trouble getting us into the Louvre. The group ticket voucher she had did not work. Our group of 25 had to wait at the desk for over 15 minutes not knowing what was happening. When we finally got into the Louvre the tour we hit some highlights (Diana, Nike, Venus de Milo) the tour guide was nice but with the large group and having to wear a head set it may have been better to have a recording. We left before the end of the tour because it was confusing. I was very disappointed.
Who would have thought that a walk through a cemetery could be so interesting? Well, the tour of Pere-Lachaise cemetery with Ana was more than just interesting, it was fascinating and fun! Ana skillfully guided my wife and I through this beautiful but huge cemetery to the burial sites of so, so many famous (and not-so-famous, but important and interesting people), including Moliere, Delacroix, Chopin, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, and many more. Without her we would would have just been wandering aimlessly through the cemetery and would probably have found only a very few of these sites. But what really made the tour a big hit was the fascinating and sometimes funny, sad and/or "behind the scenes" stories that Ana told us about these and many other persons who over the years made the Pere-Lachaise cemetery their final resting place. Thanks for a wonderful tour, Ana!
