Excellent tour, the timing never felt too rushed or too slow. I especially appreciated that at Pointe du Hoc our guide Maria personally explained the history and guided us through the site. Perhaps a brief explanation of the full itinerary at the very beginning of the tour would have made the experience even better, but overall it was absolutely worth it.

It contains 9,387 U.S. soldiers, most of whom were killed during the Normandy Landings and the Wall of the Missing with the names of 1,557 soldiers missing in action. The cliffs leading down to the beaches contain the remnants of the German defences, including concrete casemates with memorials to the soldiers. At Normandy American Cemetery you’ll see as well the semicircular memorial colonnade with the sculpture “Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves” and large maps of military operations.
Learn about the huge sacrifice made by the 34 000 men who landed here on D-Day. Omaha Beach is the most popular travellers destination of the D-Day Beaches.
Mont Saint-Michel and visit to the Benedictine Abbey Our guide will bring you up the narrow streets of the mediaeval village towards the top to the Abbey. Usually we manage to join the Guided visit which is led by an expert on Mont Saint-Michel and its history. When it is not possible for some reason we provide the audio-guides for the Abbey's visit. First settled by man in the year 709 it contains a Medieval village and beautiful Abbey fortress dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. The construction of the Benedictine Abbey started in the 700’s and continued through the 1200s. It remains practically the same since the Middle Ages as it continues to be the goal of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. Mont Saint Michel remains the most visited site in France with around 4 million tourists per year. After the Abbey visit You'll have free time to enjoy Mont Saint-Michel city and time for lunch.

They maximised the time at each point of interest. Luis, our guide, was knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. It was a long trip, but the breaks were provided at the right moments, and the French countryside along the way was beautiful. I would happily recommend Tour Up in Europe.
My husband and I sincerely enjoyed our day-trip (D-Day | Omaha Beach and German bunkers, and Mont Saint Michel). Our guide, Louis, was extremely knowledgeable and kind. He shared his passion, historical facts and photos with us, which truly enhanced our experience! Omaha Beach holds a profound reverence, and the German bunkers carry a haunting darkness. We were deeply moved by this meaningful experience. Mont Saint Michel was PHENOMENAL! Nothing like anything we had ever visited before. The crowd was large, but manageable. Definitely visit the magnificent abbey… worth every stone step! Our time at each location was very sufficient, as were our restroom
We are so thankful to Natalie and her driver – we had the absolute best day. We saw so much and learned so much! Natalie and her driver are very accommodating and we’re great to spend the day with!
This was a VIP experience from start to finish. Our guide, Daniel, was knowledgeable and quite expert about both World War II and Mont Saint Michel. Our driver, Alex, was very safe and extremely courteous. All the arrangements (admission, entrance fees, etc.) were seamlessly included. The timing of all events was perfect. We made a few changes to the agenda in advance of the tour, which Daniel was unaware of, but he smoothly pivoted to accommodate the new agenda. We would highly recommend this private tour as “the way to go” to see as much as possible in a compressed amount of time.
My young adult daughter and I were trying to pack as much into a short trip to Paris as possible. This private tour helped us do that by allowing us to see two of our must-see historic locations in one day. We were picked up in a beautiful new Mercedes sedan. We had both a driver and a well-educated tour guide, Nataly, who came well prepared. Nataly was friendly and talkative. She made the long car drive feel much shorter with her knowledge of history and French life. She brought along her iPad so she could illustrate some of the information she shared. Yes, it's a very long day, but well worth it!
This was hands down one of the best days of our 7 week holiday of Europe. It was a long day, but worth it and worth every dollar we paid. We were transported by a private driver in a Mercedes van - very comfortable for the long day. Our guide Danila was great - young, knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. Was worth the money to go as a small group, we were able to ask questions and chat as we walked. Such a privilege to walk on Omaha Beach and pay our respects to those fallen US servicemen. Mont Saint-Michel was an absolute treat. What a magical place - almost straight out of Harry Potter. If you’re thinking of a day trip from Paris - do this one!!
Amazing experience! The tour was well-organized, and our guide shared fascinating stories about World War II and Mont Saint-Michel. It felt personal and special. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Paris who wants to explore more of France’s history in comfort.
This is a nice activity for a day. We were not interested in the American cemetery so we spent all the day at Mont Saint Michelle and even tried some calvados. Our guide Helen and driver Ibrag couldn't be more welcoming. The organisation was top thank you guys!
Great day the tour was incredible I had an excellent day I recommend 100% the place and the decor was great I really liked Mont Saint Michel
It was really a nice trip. We managed to see one of the most tragic places in the world - Omaha beach and the 7th miracle of the world - Mont Saint-Michel and all that in 1 day. There are no other tours like that, so it is highly recommended ! The team was just great, very professional guide and driver.
We had a fantastic experience visiting Normandy! We traveled with our family and opted for a comfortable minivan. We had a wonderful guide who shared fascinating insights about the attractions. Everything was incredibly interesting, and I'm still going through photos from these beautiful places. Highly recommend it!
I seldom give negative reviews. However this experience was absolutely unacceptable. We booked this trip while in paris and per trip advisor we needed to wait for the status to change from pending to confirmed. The next day it was confirmed. Pickup was at our hotel which was listed on their Pickup locations at 7am. 7am no driver. 715am I called and spoke with valerie. She says if it says your booked the driver will be there no problem. She said she would call back and confirm. 30 mins go bye no response. Called back, she would not answer. I then receive a text stating they didn't get the reservation yesterday but magically they received it this morning. They would need 1 hour to get a driver on site for pickup. I tried calling again. No answer. The hotel staff who I did not solicit asked if they could call valerie. I gave them the number and she answered. She blamed tripadvisor for not receiving the request and insisted on the driver to arrive in 1 hour. 1 hour goes by no driver. I called again and still not answering my calls. She finally answes a plea from a text messages asking for a status update. She says they will need another hour. We again wait and 2 hours now goes by no driver. The hotel manager is now in the building and becomes angry with the situation. He calls valerie direct and explains how this is unacceptable and not how to conduct business. She insists a translator will be to the hotel with a driver in 30 mins. She then text me the driver and translators numbers. 45 mins go by and the translator shows up apologizes. Then we are informed the driver is stuck in trafficking and will be another hour....wow. We then asked if we would even have time to see all the sites on this tour. The honest response was NO. We called tripadvisor asking to cancel and you would think that would be a no brainer given the circumstances. It wasn't. First attempt the call was "disconnected" after holding 10 mins. Second attempt we held another 10 mins waiting on a response. I had to threaten to dispute the charge with american express in order to facilitate a response. Ultimately a refund was issued. (still waiting but I'm sure it's coming) so we know have 4 hrs wrapped up into this while we are in paris. Such wasted time and so much aggravation. Not to mention the international calls that we will obviously be paying for to attempt to correct their mistakes. Shame on tripadvisor and shame on valerie and this third party company. Absolutely unacceptable. Couldt recommend enough. DO NOT BOOK THIS PERIOD!
We enjoyed our time so much. Our guide was such a joy to be around. He explained us all the information about these two completely different sites. And he seemed to be an expert in any! The drive was long (prepare yourself) but comfy in our private van. The driver was excellent too. Special thanks to Nataly from the booking department who was dealing with our troubles ahead of time. Sorry for the hotel changement situation.
Went with my family to do the D Day tour and Mont Saint Michel. We were picked up right at our hotel in a comfortable van. Our guide was Natalie and she was awesome! Very knowledgeable, funny and pleasant, she really helped make the tour a fun and memorable experience. Going to Omaha beach and the museum was very powerful, and Mont Saint Michel was incredibly majestic. Highly recommend.
The long but teaching you a lot day, We had a great time visiting both places in a single day. If I had the chance to do it again, I wouldn't hesitate, even though it was quite a long day. It would be fantastic to have more than 24 hours in a day to explore further.
This trip was very special and we enjoyed it very much. It was a great way to get a taste for both D-Day and Mont Saint Michel. For a more in-depth experience, you would really need to spend a few days in that region. We did not have that option so this was perfect for us. We visited the American Cemetery which was deeply moving. The museum was really well done and our guide, Helen, really tied that information in with the overall history and events of the time. We visited the graves and the chapel as well. We enjoyed a delightful lunch with Helen and then topped it off with a visit to Omaha beach. It was a lovely experience and Helen is full of fascinating information that brings the experience to life for the visitor. My family really enjoyed this experience, particularly because we have a long history of military service connected with France. TIP - bring a windbreaker or a coat as it is always very windy here! If you have a relative here, locate their name on the wall in the rose garden behind the monument. We chose to eat in a wonderful restaurant by the beach at Omaha Beach. This was the best choice because the restaurants at Mont St Michel are very crowded and would have taken up a lot more time. It also provide a more intimate (quiet) environment where we could better hear all the information that Helen was sharing with us. Really made such a difference to the quality and depth of the experience! We headed to Mont Saint Michel next. What an incredible place! We arrived in plenty of time to take our tour, however, for some inexplicable reason, the Abbey had shut down the visits. But where a door closes, another window opens when minds work together. We discovered there would be Vespers in the Abbey a bit later and we could attend that. So, Helen arranged for us to stay a bit longer so we could actually attend. It turned out to be something we will all remember for a long time. Best outcome for sure - just a few people, in the Abbey, with the Nuns and Monks singing their vespers with but about 10 other people. It was beautiful. Tip: you might want to start with Mont St. Michel in the morning to accomplish 2 things: 1) the longest drive is over first instead of last. 2) you will not have be concerned the tours will close unexpectedly early (even though Helen had never experienced this issue in the past). Better to be safe than sorry!. Tip #2: Let Helen know before you come of the historical aspects you are most interested in so she can share those stories and information with you. She know so much! It was a long day, for sure. Don't plan anything the next morning as you will want time to rest after that day. But a HUGE shout out to Helen, our young, very knowledgeable, extremely personable guide. We enjoyed her company very much. And also to our driver, who was so agreeable to the change of plans last minute and delivered us safely everywhere we went. You both worked to make our experience as special as it was and we were thrilled with the day and your company. Thank you! Merci!
This is a completely unprofessional and unethical tour operator. Based on my experience not a large tour operator and likely a 1 or 2 person shop that takes your information and assigns a Uber driver to be your private car and an inexperienced college student to be your "professional" tour guide. I would read the other negative reviews, so you know what to expect ahead of time if you take the risk of using this company. The tour guide is likely an inexperienced college student who googled the sites for basic facts the day and didn't have detailed knowledge about the places or sites. In fact stated many inaccuracies when I asked him questions. Frustrating when you have a private tour and ask where are the major places in Normandy to see the bunkers, etc and he doesn't know. We were already lost at the 1st site and walking to nowhere which made the day longer. I let him and Valerie know during the tour and was texted back just finish the tour and happy to get feedback afterwards. I sent her feedback that night. She never responded. Because the tour was completely nothing as promised in the listing I disputed with my credit card company and Valerie's response was to make up lies that I was in fact very happy and smiling and likely unhappy because of an unrelated tour the day before. Total lies. I didn't have a tour the day before and was in fact at the women's gymnastics all round finals and had a great time. Luckily had text messages with Valerie proving that and other "inaccuracies" exposing her lies. Proceed with extreme caution with this tour operator and if you decide to take a gamble. Here are some best practices. 1. Communicate only via text message with Valerie and tour guide. Even if you let the tour guide know you are not happy in person during the tour, send that person a text message anyway so that it's documented if you decide to dispute because they will simply make up stories to justify their positions in the absence of proof. 2. Take pictures of the car you pay extra for because what you paid for may not be what you end up getting as I previously mentioned they don't have a fleet of private cars, but a network of Uber drivers. Document, document, document. Know that you are paying for an inexperienced college student who may or may not speak the language you chose to be your tour guide and an Uber driver who may or may not speak the language your chose to be your private car. As long you are ok with that you should be fine. Or, you could just hire your own Uber driver and google or use the guided tours at the sites yourself for a much better and knowledgable experience and save yourself the disappointment and frustration. As to how they have the Viator "Badge of Excellence" is beyond me. Good luck to you.
Fantastic tour and guide! We didn’t have much time because we were in Paris for the Olympics. We wanted to visit both Omaha Beach & Mount St Michel on the same day. This was the only company I could find that did both. It was a luxury vehicle and our group of four felt like rock stars! Highly recommended!
I had paid for and expected a personal guided trip in a luxury car. We ended up with a tour guide who had only been in Paris for 7 months. All the questions we asked her she could not answer. It was a most disappointing and disheartening trip.
Was a rush visit, could’ve spent all day at each location, but it was better to see each for a little bit rather than not at all. It was a great experience, would love to go back. Tour guide Emily was very sweet and accommodating. Driver Alex did a great job getting us there and back.
It is a long trip covering both places. Our driver and guide were excellent. We spent just enough time in Normandy to see the main sites and we were off to mont saint michel. Here we had time for lunch and visit the abbey at leisure. We did not spend time walking on the beach as we were not prepared. We came in a Tesla, so about 25 minutes were needed each way to charge the car.
Tour Up in Europe is a very unprepared and unprofessional guide service, which you should only use if you do not want to receive the tour you purchased. We booked the Normandy tour on the 80th anniversary of D-DAY; however, the company did not attain the required permit to visit the historical sites on the anniversary. The other tour operators were able to provide their clients the experience of visiting on the 80th anniversary as they had attained the proper permit, which was clearly posted on the Normandy website stating tour operators needed the pass. Long story short, ten hours in a car and unable to experience the historic celebration that we signed up for.
We had an incredible day traveling to Normandy, especially to the stunning Mont St. Michel! Our experience with Tour Up in Europe was exceptional. Nataly, our guide, was absolutely spectacular. She was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, educated, and professional. We highly recommend her to everyone! Nataly made us feel very comfortable and turned our trip into a magical experience. She is fluent in multiple languages and will tell you everything you need to know about France. We also visited the D-Day beaches, which were profoundly significant for us. The historical depth and the stories shared made this part of the trip especially moving. Additionally, our driver, Abdulah, provided a smooth and luxurious ride. His driving skills were impeccable, enhancing the overall experience. Our day was truly special, creating memories that will last a lifetime. If you ever need a guide, please look up Nataly. You won’t be disappointed. Whether your interests lie in history, food, wine, culture, or anything else, Tour Up in Europe will take care of it. P.S. It is not the first time I let this company to organise my trip!
Just a heads-up: the drive is a tag long (over 3 hours), so you might want to plan for a more relaxed day afterward. But it’s absolutely worth it! The historical charm of the abbey simply took my breath away. Seeing it with your own eyes is truly sublime. Plus, the tour was well-organized, with all pickups on time.
The tour was very well organized. It was a long day, but very informative. Many thanks to our guide Helen for the tour. I never thought that even in the rain (sometimes pouring), such a wonderful walk around Mont Saint-Michel could be arranged.
Great experience with a lovely guide who educated us on the history . She was fun as well as informative. I’d highly recommend.
Wow, what an incredible day exploring D-Day sites and Mont Saint Michel! The history, the views, just everything was amazing. Highly recommend this tour for an unforgettable experience! One thing to advise: maybe consider taking a 2-day tour to really immerse yourself in the experience and make the most of it!
We enjoyed this tour. Very convenient with the private guide and driver who were both very caring and fun to be around. We will remember this day, thank you!
Very profound history knowledge given during the tour. Pick up and drop off from a place that was not listed on the trip advisor - very convenient. Thank you for all the information and being in touch 24/7. Mary is a sweet guide!
This experience is exciting! The abbey is amazing, feelings came out in the cemetery because we had time to see a short film where they recount the lives of the soldiers. Simply recommended!
What a fantastic day! Our private tour of Mont Saint Michel and D-Day was simply wonderful. Daniel, our guide, was exceptional, making us feel welcome and sharing fascinating details at each stop. From the majesty of Mont Saint Michel to the excitement of D-Day, every moment was memorable. I highly recommend this tour for an authentic and enriching experience in Normandy. Thanks to Tour Up in Europe for making it so special!
