Excellent 1/2 day private excursion to Chartres Cathedral with driver and experienced guide included. Very interesting and energetic visit to Chartres with lots of history and detail. If you are determined to visit Chartres from Paris, this is an excellent option.

We were looking forward to visiting Chartres for a year and weren’t disappointed. The cathedral is breath taking and Lillit, our guide, was the perfect interpreter of the stories told in the stained glass windows and provided historical details of building and rebuilding of the cathedral. She followed our interests and managed to share her knowledge while supporting our interests as difference aspects of the cathedral caught our attention. We also had the time to see the medieval town center and visit the open market and shops. The drive from Paris to Chartres was an opportunity to set up our tour and see the countryside. Nicolai, our driver, even provided interesting details on Paris infrastructure on the drive to Chartres and a relaxing playlist on the way home. Highly recommend and ask for Lillit!

My husband is on a wheelchair and Corrine and her driver ( forgot his name) were very sensitive to his needs. It was very educational and was very pleasant.

Viator does not stand by their obligations to its customers. When there is a problem as we had with a driver who took off after we were 7 minutes late. There is no one to call. It is shameful. The website gives you a link to get a refund and the link doesn’t work. DON’T USE THEM!

It was a last minute booking to see Chartes. Very good driver. Guide was adequate but could have been more interactive and present more information.

Caroline was super friendly and. Informative. The drive out from Paris is mellow 90 minutes. I suggest adding an hour to your tour so you can take a break, have some lunch and refresh yourself for more information about this marvelous place.

Absolutely amazing stain glass and so much too! Beautiful cathedral nestled in a quaint little French town. Built in the 12th century is more amazing than Norte Dame in many ways.

We had a private tour with car and driver/guide. The day before the scheduled visit to Chartres, the trip was cancelled. No offer to reschedule. No reason for the cancellation. Left us without the opportunity to see the Cathedral at Chartres and no chance to find another tour on such short notice. And since Trip Advisor is a middle man, they direct you to the tour provider. And as was the case several times during our use of Trip Advisor, no one answers at the tour provider phone number. Trip Advisor always answers the phone. Always puts you on hold while they "attempt to reach the tour provider". Only to let you know they couldn't reach them, but would send an email. Then seize the opportunity to try and sell you another tour. Any tour. It was a disgusting and quite disconcerting.

Amazing tour guide and really spectacular cathedral in the process of being restored to look like new. We also went to a local bakery and tried foods unique to Chartres (desserts and cookies). The tour guide was very knowledgeable and taught us things we never would have known otherwise.

Guide and driver were great. We went on Saturday so the traffic was tolerable. Really enjoyed the stained glass windows and the carved wall figures depicting the life of Jesus.

This was a wonderful experience! The driver and guide picked us up at our hotel, and both were exemplary! Our guide filled us in on the history of the cathedral and village on the drive, and was very informative during our visit inside the cathedral. He then took us on a brief tour of the surrounding village-tgerexwas even a marketplace going on in the town that we were able to explore. We were then escorted back to our hotel safe and sound and right on time. A very relaxing and enjoyable day-a tour type that I would do again and recommend to anyone!

Seeing Chartres Cathedral is a magnificent experience that touches both the mind and the soul. The city of Chartres is charming as well.

Great driver and tour guide. Picked us up on time and got us quickly to Chartres. The Cathedral is amazing and looks great after most of the interior has been refurbished. Our guide presented great information on the Cathedral stained glass and statuary. Would highly recommend if you have time in Paris to see the Cathedral in Chartres.

We took a number of tours while in France - most of them marvelous experiences with excellent tour guides. Chartes Cathederal is amazing, beautiful and so much history, but our tour guide was much more interested in traffic and getting back to Paris than our experience at Chartres. It started when he picked us up. He was upset that we hadn't signed up for the 9:30 tour since the 11 is supposedly reserved for families with small children. Where is that info in tripadvisor? The guide was knowledgeable but very patronizing. He rushed us thru the tour and skipped over portions. I had to actually ask to see the main altar, the side chapel, and the front entrance of the church (yes some construction but you could still walk by the front of church). I was expecting to have lunch at Chartres, but we got a 5-minute coffee. This was an expensive tour that was very disappointing. I spent $1,100 for 3 people plus had to tip both guide and his driver. I expected a better experience. Also guide used laser pointer than annoyingly shows up in some of our photos. I highly recommend going to Chartes, but definitely use a different service.

Great experience. My mother dose not walk much and our guides accommodated her by driving through the old town and speaking to her while sitting in the church. Stefan knew our interest in history and gave us extra historical information.

My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Lilith, and driver, Steve, were fantastic. While Chartres and the Cathedral are a must-see from Paris, their enthusiasm and good humour really enhanced our experience. We hope to use their services again for other tours.

Guide Lillet (sp) and driver Steve are the perfect pair to show you the splendor and beauty of Chartres. In a very comfortable automobile Lillet explains much of the history about both Chartres the Cathedral and the town while driving en route. It’s a magnificent site when you first see it from the road. Lillet was superb and comprehensive in her knowledge and extremely adept at conveying it. She also showed a bit of the charming town after the tour of the Cathedral. The trip back to Paris was smooth and comfortable and included a lively discussion about Russian authors & the need to find the right translations that do them justice. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

Our guide’s knowledge of the site and the pleasant driver who got us all there. It was a rare sunny day and though windy we enjoyed every minute.

Learned a lot about Chartres and cathedrals in general - our guide was very informative. Of particular interest was learning how to interpret the stained glass windows and statues and how they tell a story.

I booked this private tour of Chartres when my usual tour company was not available. Guides in France must be certified and licensed so I wasn't too worried about changing your companies other than the quality of the vehicle. Our guide, Kiko, was very friendly and knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. Chartres itself was fantastic. I had been there many decades (yikes) before and while it was amazing, the cathedral was grimy and unlit inside. Since, it has undergone an amazing restoration (still ongoing) and is well lit inside. Kiko knew so much of the history of the people, biblical and historical references, the architecture, etc and was a very good storyteller, an important skill for a guide. We had a lovely experience

It was a very comfortable drive in a clean, new Mercedes. We felt safe with the driver despite heavy traffic. The guide seemed fairly inexperienced and did not provide much historical background of the church. Arthur also said that he would talk about the Vikings coming to Chartres but did not. He brought up taking a break so we ended up eating lunch. He asked to join us and we ended up paying. He also asked to stop at a chocolate shop to buy items for his stepdaughter which ate more of our time. While it was a pleasant afternoon, it was not worth the expensive cost.

This tour was outstanding! Originally we thought about taking a train from Paris to Chartres. We are glad we didn’t. Our guide was excellent and gave us a ton of information on the Cathedral and the town of Chartres. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to find out about Chartres.

The private guide (Lily) was amazing. I highly recommend this tour of Chartre. We had lunch nearby afterwards and it was delightful and delicious. This is my second visit to Chartre and it was even better with a private guide!

Lilith our guide was outstanding! From the moment we left our hotel in Paris and our entire drive to Chartres she provided us with all the historical enlightening detail we wanted! The largest cathedral in France in a quaint medieval town provided a wonderful 1/2 day trip for us ! My husband and my adult daughter and I would highly recommend.

Our guide, Kikko, was wonderful - loved sharing history, faith and the beauty of the cathedral. His energy and knowledge gave us the history - after 40+ years of visiting dozens of beautiful ones - we learned how to read stained glass, discover architectural features/purpose and functions, shared our favorite teas and enjoyed a refreshing light rain. Driver Steven added to the tour - a fellow American whose “new life” is in Paris. A delightful and educational day.

I enjoyed the trip immensely. Especially with Notre Dame de Paris closed to visitors because of the 2019 fire, Notre Dame de Chartres is a priority. The guide, very knowledgeable, walked me through the cathedral pointing out many highlights. He answered all my questions. We were not at all rushed. He was patient and helpful when I was trying to see images high in the stained glass windows. I was having problems with my phone and was very worried about scheduling a ride to the airport at the end of my trip. The guide and driver were very gracious and reassuring in scheduling for me a ride to the airport a few days after the trip to Chartres. I plan to book the same tour when I go back to France next year with my grown children and grandson.

Excellent guide who brought the history and beauty of Chartres to life! Her passion for French history was amazing and she was quickly able to adapt her presentation to our level of knowledge.

We were in Paris over the holidays and scheduled this tour for Christmas Day since most things in Paris are closed that day (though Eiffel Tower was open which we did in the afternoon). Lilith gave a very pleasant and informative tour of Chartres, both the cathedral and town. There were a few stores open in Chartres that day so we were able to get lunch at one of them. She has a driver for the van, so is able to focus her time and attention on the tour and provide information along the way. Overall, would highly recommend.

Our trip was good, although traffic and driving time limits the time we actually spent in Chartres. Would have liked to have spend more time wandering the village. Guide was excellent and knowledgeable.

<p>It was very luxurious to have a private tour, complete with driver and experienced guide. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient with us and the Cathedral is a gem. It was the one thing we did on our week trip to Paris that didn't involve fighting a massive crowd, so we really enjoyed the leisure to explore the Cathedral and then have lunch in the wonderful town. Even the rain couldn't dampen the experience.</p>
