AMAZING. we are not history buffs but thoroughly enjoyed our long day in the Normandy area. It is worth the time and effort to go from Paris. Regis, owner and tour guide, was amazing. A walking talking, interesting historian and it’s so different learning about it in this way versus from a boring history book 40 years ago.

Itinerary
With your driver-guide you will travel to the Normandy beaches in an air-conditioned minivan. Once you arrive in the Calvados county in Normandy, you will stop at “The Pointe du Hoc”, 100 feet high cliffs between Omaha and Utah beaches. In mid 1943 the german TODD organisation set up 6 long range artillery guns (155mm caliber) housed in concrete bunkers and facing the english channel above the cliff. In fact, "Pointe du Hoc" was one of the thousand german stronghold positions of Hitler' project to build a wall of defense along the coast in Europe. Known as « The Atlantic Wall » and which consisted to build bunkers, guns battery and beach obstacles network along the coastline, from the spanish border to Norway in order to prevent any allied invasion. In June 6, 1944 at 07h10 am 225 US Rangers aboard barges landed just below from the cliffs and began to scale them using ropes in order to stormed the guns emplacement and then destroy them all. Blown up concrete bunkers, bombs craters and traces of the battle are still visibles today.
The National Guard Monument sits on the spot (WN72) where the 29th National Guard Division broke through German defenses on D-Day, June 6, 1944. The monument and the original bunker which it sits atop are maintained by NGEF to preserve the legacy and pay honor to all National Guardsmen who have fought in the European theater.
At Easy Green sector, two monuments were erected after the war and still stands facing the beach : Monument « Signal of the Liberation » (photo stop on the spot) This Monument commemorates the landing of the Allied Forces on June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach, and the liberation of Europe. Two frescoes can be seen on either side of the monument, one dedicated to the 1st US Infantry Division, the other at the 116th Regimental Combat Team of the 29th US Infantry Division. Monument « The Braves » (photo stop on the spot) A monumental work by sculptor Anilore Banon which pay tribute to the courage of Allied Forces soldiers. There you will have a bit of time to walk along the beach and maybe grabb a bit of sand to fill in a tiny glassed container as a souvenir to bring back home.
The monument of the 1st US Infantry Division (Red Sector / Easy) in the form of a commemoration-obelisk. The obelisk stands in the middle of the area of Wiederstandsnest (WN62). WN62 was one of the strongest defending positions in that area. WN62 or Widerstandsnest 62 (Resistance Nest 62) overlooks Easy Red and Fox Green Sectors of OMAHA Beach at Colleville sur Mer. WN62 was the most powerful resistance nest on the OMAHA beach coastline.
Overlord Museum chronicles the period of the Allied landing until the liberation of Paris. The collection was collected by someone who was both a witness to the conflict and involved in the reconstruction of Normandy. Personal items from individual soldiers and armoured fighting vehicles from the six armies in Normandy will be presented as a series of reconstructions showing over 35 vehicles, tanks and guns.
The guide is now taking you to visit the beatiful maintained American Cemetery in Colleville sur Mer which overlooks Omaha Beach nearby. The 180 acre site contains 9,387 perfectly aligned white crosses and a memorial chapel which adds the finishing touches to this moving scene, allowing visitors to reflect on the price of war. While walking along row upon row of white grave headstones, your historian guide will share with you stories of soldiers who fought in the vicinities and then were awarded for gallantry the highest miltary decorations. On the Walls of the Missing, in a semicircular garden on the east side of the memorial, are inscribed 1,557 names. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. The memorial consists of a semicircular colonnade with a loggia at each end containing large maps and narratives of the military operations; at the center is the bronze statue, “Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves.” An orientation table overlooking the beach depicts the landings in Normandy. Facing west at the memorial, one sees in the foreground the reflecting pool; beyond is the burial area with a circular chapel and, at the far end, granite statues representing the United States and France.
Arromanches is remembered as a historic place of the Normandy landings and in particular as the place where a Mulberry harbour artificial port was installed. This artificial port allowed the disembarkation of 9,000 tons of material per day. It was on the beach of Arromanches that, during the Invasion of Normandy immediately after D-Day, the Allies established an artificial temporary harbour to allow the unloading of heavy equipment without waiting for the conquest of deep water ports such as Le Havre or Cherbourg. The port was commissioned on 14 June 1944. This location was one of two sites chosen to establish the necessary port facilities to unload quantities of supplies and troops needed for the invasion during June 1944, the other was built further West at Omaha Beach. The British built huge floating concrete caissons which, after being towed from England, then had to be assembled to form walls and piers forming and defining the artificial port called the Mulberry harbour. These comprised pontoons linked to the land by floating roadways. One of these ports was assembled at Arromanches and even today sections of the Mulberry harbour still remain with huge concrete blocks sitting on the sand and more can be seen further out at sea. Some key figures: by 12 June 1944 more than 300,000 men, 54,000 vehicles, 104,000 tons of supplies had been landed.

The day trip to Normandy and Omaha Beach was incredible! Highly recommend. Regis was very knowledgeable and made the experience so much more than it could have been. His information, additional facts, and photos he shared added to it. The day of our trip was the day the Pope was in Paris. Regis found an alternate meeting place and helped us navigate the transportation back to our hotel with the closures of the metro. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Dear Regis, I would like to sincerely thank you for a wonderful trip to Normandy. Your deep knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm made every moment both meaningful and memorable. You have a remarkable ability to bring history to life, and it was a true privilege to experience it through your guidance. At the same time, I greatly appreciate your professionalism, your generosity, and your warm and engaging presence throughout the journey. Beyond being an outstanding guide, you are also a friend, and that made the experience more special. This trip will stay with me for a long time, With my heartfelt thanks and warmest regards,
Fabrice was our guide and driver. The trip to Normandy from Paris was about three hours and he got us there efficiently with an explanation of the Allied invasion along the way. We saw all the sites as promised, and he gave us a little talk at each location. It was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Pictures from D Day would have been helpful.
Our driver/guide, Régis, was fabulous - super knowledgeable about the sites aa well as WW2, making the trip a wonderful, enjoyable learning experience!
Regis was extremely knowledgeable and a great tour guide! He kept everyone engaged, including my teens! His passion for history is evident. Highly recommend!
When the subject is D-Day you can read books and watch movies but the experience of being where such bravery and sacrifice occurred is overwhelming. Regis, our knowledgeable guide, was a wealth of information and details well beyond the battle. A visit to Normandy and Omaha Beach confirms beyond argument that freedom is not free.
Worth the time to see. Our guide/driver was great. Spoke English really well. He was knowledgeable about place and events.
Viator did a great job with advertising & offering the different types of sites for the customers. Making the reservation was easy & Viator did an amazing service of providing constant updates & communication throughout the entire process. On the day of the event the tour guide/ driver was prompt, very polite & professional. The guide was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the locations & sites we visited and explored. He provided additional details of the local areas that we traveled through. The guide kept us on track and provided a very relaxing experience. I would highly recommend Viator & this tour guide.
Regis was a terrific host and we loved having a personalized tour. He is very knowledgeable about the area and WWII. The timing of the stops was perfect. The area was absolutely beautiful and the weather was perfect.
Our guide went out of his way to make sure we saw everything we wanted and more! He definitely went the extra mile and even picked us up at our hotel.
Regis was an exceptional tour guide—truly one of a kind. His deep knowledge of French, military, and world history is nothing short of remarkable. What a gift it was to learn from him. Not only is he incredibly informative, but he's also a fantastic conversationalist. Our family was completely captivated throughout the entire tour. It was, without a doubt, the best historical tour we've ever experienced. We can't recommend it highly enough!
Our tour guide Regis was very kind and extremely knowledgeable. We were able to experience a lot in one day. He knew so much about the area also. It was a beautiful day that I was able to share with my family (adult children).
My family and I had a wonderful day with Regis. The trip went as planned, with incredible timing. We saw everything promised and more. We talked history non-stop with Regis, who was an amazing host and a great guy all around. We felt right at home the whole time. I highly recommend this trip from Paris.
What a memorable tour. Our guide Regis was amazing. This man’s knowledge and passion for D Day and WW2 is well worth it. Safe driver too! We loved spending the day and eating lunch with him. Highly recommend.
We ended up having a private tour with Regis unexpectedly! Regis was a great guide and host. He was knowledgeable and kept great time on the tour without ever feeling rushed. He was attentive to our kids. Brand new van and safe a safe driver.
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed this tour, led by an extremely knowledgeable tour guide in Regis. The itinerary was planned to perfection, meaning our time in Normandy was maximised to the greatest extent possible. Easily one of the best and highest quality tours I have experienced. Thank you!
The tour was top notch, done very well. One thing to be aware of is it is a long drive each way from Paris, over three hours with a pit stop. It makes for a long day, but if you’re in Paris and want to see the Normandy battlefield sites, this provides excellent value. The countryside, villages and beaches are beautiful, and appear largely unchanged since the WWII era. The opportunity to visit the D-Day landing sites, beaches, museum and American cemetery is not to be missed, if you have the chance. Our family actually left the tour at the end of the day and stayed the night in an Airbnb nearby in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, so we didn’t have to endure the three hours home to Paris on the minibus which was a nice luxury. The tour group was about a dozen people or so and we were packed in that van like sardines. A special shout out to our tour guide, Anjali. She is extremely dedicated to her craft, very knowledgeable and clearly knows of what she speaks. We also had a great van driver who navigated in and around all the tight spots including numerous other tour buses that were everywhere on a holiday weekend in June during the busy D-Day weeklong anniversary.
This tour was a must see for me and my family and it did not disappoint. Regis is an excellent guide and offered lots of information about all things that occurred there on D Day!
We spent an unforgettable day with Regis, easily one of the top five guides we’ve ever had. He is passionate about Normandy and the day flew by with one memorable and moving moment after another. Book this tour, you’ll be so very happy you did .
Regis was a fantastic tour guide, full of knowledge about the history of Normandy and the surrounding areas and the World War II battles. The lunch stop was both convenient and lovely. The van very comfortable, clean and Regis was an excellent driver.
Amazing trip to Normandy with Regis, the most knowledgeable and experienced guide we could have asked for. He made the trip so interesting and enjoyable! Highly recommend his tour!!
Regis, our tour guide for Normandy, was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about both Normandy and Paris. The van was extremely comfortable and he was accommodating with stops. We would highly recommended this tour!
This tour was great. It was freezing and sleeted on us the whole time but the guide stayed with us and kept going! He was very informative. Our only slightly negative comment is that he stayed with us very close the entire time and we didn’t think we had any privacy to talk about the weight of the place between ourselves. However we were grateful he was on time (early), drove there safely, navigated the area for us, and even gave us a cup to gather sand. It was a touching place to be.
Regis provided a fantastic and comfortable tour. His knowledge of the Normandy D-Day landing was so impressive and extensive. It’s an experience my husband and I feel very lucky to have had.
Our guide was amazing! So many details and history we would have missed out on if we’d gone by ourselves. Completely worth it and a wonderful day.
The tour guide, Regis , was excellent Our group was small at 6 adults We were promptly picked up at 6:30 am and returned to Paris approximately 7:30pm The tour included a discussion on the 3.5 hr ride to Omaha Beach. We saw Omaha Beach, The American Military Cemetery and The Omaha Beach Military Museum. The tour was in-depth and the pace allowed everyone time to ask questions I highly recommend this tour. Awesome tour. Regis was extremely knowledgeable, showing a detailed knowledge of the D Day landings everywhere we went. No matter where we were, he could tell us what sector of Omaha Beach we were, what American Army Divisions were involved. It was well organized. Though it was a long day, we got to see Pont du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the Cemetery, and we were able to beat the crowds everywhere that we went.
What an amazing day! Our guide was so well educated on the area and WW2 and shared soooooo much information with us. He had pictures of what the area looked like before , during, and after the war. We saw the beaches, an incredible museum, and the cemetery. He educated us about all that we would see on our 3 hour drive up. The other couple with us spoke only French and we speak only English. He seamlessly spoke in both languages in his explanations. We highly recommend this tour.
Very knowledgeable guide Regess. Highly recommend his tour. He laid out a map to review what we were going to see. It gave us a great overview prior to actually seeing the locations in person. Thank you!
A great place to visit when visiting the area. The bunker complex is large and you can enter some of the buildings. Parking is good and there are information boards on the site.
Regis was a great tour guide with as much information as we could have wanted. He blended the sites with pictures, history, and descriptions that we excellent. The tour was comfortable and his conversation made the trip go by more quickly. It was a great day:
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and made the experience one of the highlights of our European vacation. His descriptions, anecdotes, and highlights were amazing. Five starts does not begin to describe the quality of this experience. I'd do it again and highly recommend it.
Guide was excellent. Long drive but worth seeing. Rain kept crowds away. Monu m ents ,cemetery and beach are somber. Lunch ok. Why are dogs playing g on this historic spot?
Omaha beach, the bunkers and museum were incredible. Reggie, our tour guide was outstanding. He put the events leading up to the event in perspective and followed up with showing us the interesting sites to enhance our understanding. He was one of the best guides we have had, and we have enjoyed many!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and because we had a very small group he even took pictures for us! It’s a long day from Paris so everything needs to be at a certain pace. It was a good experience.
All stops were great. Tour guide was knowledgeable and fun to engage with. We had a great time. We highly recommend this tour.
The guide, Regis, was a walking encyclopedia of Normandy. We really enjoyed his commentary and knowledge. It’s a wonderful tour with some sobering moments seeing the crosses and stars of each soldier buried there.
Our day in Normandy was spectacular. Regis, our guide, along with a sunny day, made the meaningful, serene Pont du Hoc, Omaha Beach and American Cemetery come alive. All three are must sees!
Its clinical and more like Ikea than a WW2 monument, its an ok experience. Nice views on a good day and easy enough to walk around.
What an excellent day learning about the history of Normandy and the area. Transportation very comfortable, Adrian provided excellent information and we learned so much! Would definitely recommend this day trip to anyone visiting Paris.
We had a great time. Our guide was excellent and very informative. The American Cemetery was very moving.
It was absolutely the best tour I've ever had. Regis was courteous, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable of the military events leading to and through D-Day and more. We never felt rushed at any of the stops. His restaurant pick was spot on too. He definitely made a long day from Paris to Normandy and back so very pleasurable and memorable. It was such a humbling experience. Do not miss out on this wonderful opportunity to pay homage to the greatest generation.
Being able to see these locations is one thing, but having the guidance of a tour operator such as Regis is invaluable for adding color and depth to an already profound experience! Regis greeted us 20 minutes before departure and got us situated in the very comfortable van for our drive out. He made sure to engage each and every one of us with stories of the area and genuine insight that only someone who has a great interest in the subject is able to provide. Being able to see Pointe du Hoc, the memorials, the beach, cemetery and museum all in a single packed day was a wonderful experience made even better by Regis's excellent commentary and engagement through stories and pictures. This tour is very focused on the subject and you do not sacrifice time spent at significant places for 'padding' like you might at other tours. Lunch was also very very good. If there is only one tour you do on your trip to Europe, make it this one.
An amazing experience with a wonderful guide! Regis was so accommodating and knowledgeable. It was an educational and touching experience. If you are in Paris, I highly recommend this D Day experience. It is a long day, but worth the time and expense to honor the young men who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Bring a rain jacket.
This tour is an absolute must ! Our tour guide, Regis, was spectacular. We learned so much history, and seeing the historic locations in person made all the difference. Regis is the Best. Ask for him as your guide.
Regis was the best tour guide ever! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he taught us a lot. Point du Hoc was gorgeous and like Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, a solemn place. It’s impossible to overstate the bravery of those men who turned the tide of WWII. Also visited the Overlord Museum which gave us a good look at the implements of war during that time.
Incredible trip! Highly recommend guide Regis!! THIS is the trip to take! We booked this trip based upon other reviews and were very glad we did.
Our guide, Regis, was fantastic! He was very patient and kind. I strongly recommend this tour or any tour with him.
Great event, Regis was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Well worth the money. Good overview and excited to go back to learn more. Would like to spend more days with Regis to learn more.
