A sweet, unforgettable stop for families visiting Paris! Looking for a unique thing to do in Paris with the kids? The Chocolate Museum is a perfect family-friendly museum: the story of cacao is told in a fun, simple way, and our children were hooked from the first room. The highlight was the chocolate workshop. We molded, decorated and tasted (a lot), then left with a bag of our own creations. Lots of laughter, and a much better souvenir than a magnet! Just before us, a group of colleagues left the workshop after a team building** session, still in their aprons and laughing, with bags full of chocolates. If it works for adults, imagine for a family! Friendly, patient staff and easy to enjoy even if you don't speak French. A great rainy day activity in Paris. Book ahead, especially on weekends and school holidays, and come hungry!
Me and my wife did this as a last minute activity for our anniversary after a recommendation. It was a really enjoyable experience - really good activity for couples and families. Chef was really attentive, knowledge and personable and really engaged with us. Good variety of chocolate made - you take away 4 bars each plus a few extras plus your aprons. Really good value for money, would highly recommend it
Very poor value 80 euros for family of 5 30 or 40 mins reading about chocolate Should be 25 euros for a family of 5 Felt a bit scammed
From arriving to going around this is a very impressive and interesting museum, i thought i new a lot about the history of chocolate but i found out today i know very little, i would highly recomend you visit and spend time just reading the signs and taking in the history about chocolate, i love chocolate and the fact that you can eat as much as you like from the various vending machines on the tour, plus if you pay for the tour you get given a free sample to eat after you watch a small demonstration about making chocolate and can enjoy a hot chocolate at the end of the tour makes this for me a must do place, if i could i would rate this museum 100 out of 100
This is a fab place to visit. I booked it without much of a thought around what it would be like, more so because my children love chocolate. We spent 2 hours here learning all about the origins of hot chocolate and then the production of bars of chocolate. There are quite a few interactive sections, including tasting chocolate on the way around and loads of really interesting infographics to see too. There is a simulated presentation at the end where you get to see the chocolate being made and then taste them (if you've kept your chocolate pouch until the end!) and we paid the extra few Euros for a hot choc each at the end. There is a lovely gift shop too. This is a really fun, interesting and tasty experience, highly recommend for all ages.
Fantastic experience, really fun way to learn a new skill and the staff are super friendly! Highly recommend! 😁
Wonderful explanations in multiple languages. Samples of what was being discussed along the way. Lots more porcelain than the Orlando Museum. Interactive smells, free email picture and great gift shop. Optional cost hot chocolate gives one the opportunity to try the ancient styles. HIGHLY recommend for US tourists tired if big museums.
An unexpectedly positive visit to this museum. I would highly recommend it for kids aged between six and 12. Plenty of activities to keep kids occupied. We visited on a very rainy day and it was ideal. Not too crowded. Plenty of chocolate to sample! The artefacts were well described in English and French and of a better quality than I had anticipated. I would recommend this as a place to visit in Paris along as the art museums!
Horrible. Waste of money and time. Do not visit. Tried to contact via website but contact us doesn’t work, seems like intentional as they know people will curse their so call museum. They should be banned from calling it a museum as museum does hold some vale.
A nice place if you like chocolate and dont have any other plans, but would not be at my top of the list
A very informative presentation. So many historic examples of chocolate making equipment along with detailed explanations. I spent 3 hours there, examining the exhibits, reading the signs and taking photos. There are splendid examples of candy molds, tools and chocolate memorabilia, such as posters and chocolate sculptures. The audiovisual display are very well done too, detailing the progress from cocoa tree to finished product. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learning the history of chocolate. There were plenty of samples to taste too.
If you book the visit only, you will experience the very good show about chocolate. Very interesting and covering all aspects. And you will be able to taste their chocolate: very average white, very average medium, very average tasting dark. That’s the whole spectrum, also in the shopping room. So this is good for give aways to average friends. They should know how to make good chocolate and offer fine taste that is above stuff from the supermarket shelf’s. But: the museum show is worth the money ! AND: at exit book the spicy Aztec drinking cacao - that is fine, with an sophisticated taste blend for fair €4. if you are looking for an artist in design and taste, go for Illene in Paris.
We did the workshop but it didn’t really tell you how to do anything and we just dipped a few foods into chocolate and then it was done. Super overpriced! Kids enjoyed it but I’d expect to pay 20euro each for what we experienced
Waste of money. Just saw a few cooking bowls & chocolate molds. Wish we had never been there to waste our time. Not value for money
Wonderful explanation of all the ancient ways chocolate was made during the Aztec and my periods. It also delineated how it was so popular in the Monarch ages of France in the 1700s and 1800s.
This place was lovely! I brought my 9 and 11 year olds and they were exactly the right age for the activities that the museum provides. They got really into completing the whole booklet and loved tasting the different chocolate samples. The staff were very kind and friendly and we learned a lot!
What a massive disappointment! It is not a chocolate museum. It is a depressing story about the history of the cacao-bean. Me and my partner both love chocolate normally but the chocolate here was inedible. We were expecting sculptures of chocolate and joy, but it was mostly focusing on the history and not at all the joy of chocolate. Only one section had four sculptures, the other sections were filled with disturbing pictures but most of all boring facts of the cacaobean. The room with actual chocolate felt more like: ”oh yeah, we must have some chocolate to be able to call it a chocolatemuseeum, so let us just threw something up quickly”. With all of this we decided not to do the planned workshop and were then met with disappointing and angry looks from the staff. This was all pathetic.
Very disappointing visit. Looks like someone just bought few room and printed stuff from internet. I won't recommend for free also as you will save your time, forget about paying
A great family day out for adults & children with lots of chocolate to eat. Wonderful experience learning the history of chocolate to modern day.
We loved this small museum. We learned a lot about the history thanks to the audio guide and explanations in both English and French. We tasted about 5 different types of chocolate as we made our way through the museum. The virtual chocolatiers' demonstration was outstanding! You felt as if you were right in front of a live chocolatier himself as they spoke. The delicious truffles eaten at the end of the demonstration were outstanding! We loved the chocolate Arc de Triomphe and chocolate Tour Eiffel which were great backdrops for photos. We booked ahead and included the hot chocolate but the museum was not busy and we probably could have purchased tickets in person at the time. We bought several pieces of chocolate in the gift shop to enjoy at home. Would definitely recommend this small museum and the time was less than two hours.
I had an amazing time at the chocolate factory in Paris. I got to drink hot chocolate and ate so much chocolate, it was incredible! The whole experience was so much fun, and I wish I could do it all over again. Watching how the chocolate was made was fascinating, and every part of the tour was enjoyable.
The Chocolate Museum is fun and educational. I learned a lot. We were there on a Wednesday and it was not crowded. You do not need Viator to see the Chocolate Museum. We had to go on a different day than we had booked with Viator and it was very easy to get to with an Uber. They also have discounts for children and seniors. So much fun, if you LOVE chocolate!!
Definitely for young kids....they will enjoy it! Visited during the Olympics these were a 2 kids groups there.
It gave a good historical perspective of things, but needs to just give free hand audio with the tour.
Perfect! The chocolate was so tasty. The booklet was really fun. I went for my half-term and also made the chocolate, as well as getting a tour. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Really interesting museum..loved learning about the history of chocolate and trying the chocolate samples. The hotel chocolate at the end was delicious..
Nice experience that is educational and entertaining for adults and children. The all you can eat chocolate dispensers that allow visitors to experience the taste of chocolate throughout its history is a great touch.
It was a very interesting and informative tour. The displays were very good and well done. It was an enjoyable experience
We was very happy with the Choco Museum, Else was very accommodating and explained great information about the museum
This is a nice museum for kids. It is interesting. It is self guided tour and in the end the demonstration is all on video (no live person interaction) which was a little disappointing but the video was well made.
Was a great thing to do for 2 hours, self tour, very interesting and you can taste chocolate buttons as you go around, finish off buy buying a hot chocolate. Loved it
We (as senior citizens) loved reading about all the history...however, most of the children we encountered looked miserable. Maybe more interesting things for them?
Easily found, straight forward access. Entirely self directed experience. Informative. Not as stimulating as the chocolate for tasting which was lovely but beware people , particularly children have a taste and put it back in the dish, so always decant a fresh sample. All in all good for the price.
Was surprised to spend 3 hours here with our 10 and 8 year olds. Informative and interesting exhibits, we all learned a lot, and ate too much chocolate
All of it. Thank you. Nothing else to say. You are making me feel pressured now to say more. I could turn this into s negative review
This little museum is very cool. Great story with awesome features and very clean place. It was a wonderful respite from all the hot crowds and pushy tourists. There were quite a few visiting the day we went but it wasn’t elbow to elbow. Staff was very nice as well!
France may be known for its famous art museums, but if you have some free time, this chocolate museum provides a great history lesson on chocolate making in France.
The Chocolate Museum was a fantastic part of our Paris tour. The history and information was so interesting. We enjoyed all the chocolate samples and the hot chocolate at the end of our tour.
When we spoke to natives in Paris, they did not know about the Chocolate museum. We found it here on the Viator website and it was a great experience. We thought it would be an hour, we ended up being there for 2 1/2 hours as the kids were enjoying the activities. Highly recommend.
Very cute museum for kids; good ways to explore the origin of chocolate and how it’s made. Free chocolate buttons were yummy, also the tasters from the demo.
Worst experience ever! Now I know why this place is not recommended. The museum is a joke and the employees are even worse. There is really nothing at all to see in the museum - we showed up for our workshop at 4:20 for a 4:15pm appointment. The workshop is supposed to last 45 minutes. Can you believe they would not let us in! They said we were too late for the workshop and that it is full now. I have a paid ticket. How is it possible for it to be full and too late! I realize we were 5 minutes late but traffic in Paris is completely unpredictable and they had blocked the road! They said the chocolate had to set so it was too late! Really? I had my 2 young children in tears! Literally booked our day around this one event which I actually PAID for and they would not honor our workshop! Completely unacceptable and now I know why the hotels do not recommend this place! It sucks! Save yourself the inconvenience of traveling out of the way for this! I should have booked the other chocolate tours that were recommended. This is what you’re traveling to see in the ‘museum’. We even asked to just watch the workshop that we pod for and we’re denied because they said it was ‘full’? How is it full if I paid for the space? 4 spaces to be exact?
My child actually liked it, but I thought it was pretty dull. We were only there an hour and both ready to go by that point. The chocolate on offer is very low quality - little hard waxy disks. I’d rather go to a proper chocolaterie and spend my money there.
I went to the museum with my son [2yr] and my wife and it was fun. I enjoyed the explanations, the decor, and the way they explain in multiple languages the story of chocolate. It's also great that you can taste different kinds of chocolates in different areas
We were underwhelmed by this experience. It is a self-guided tour. The museum is older and the story of chocolate takes work to put together by reading the placards on the wall. There is a free hot chocolate at the end of the tour, which was average. We were hoping for a more exciting experience.
My 4 year old and 13 year old both enjoyed themselves at the museum today. The game booklet helped them to get involved with the exhibits instead of just browsing passively. There was lots of interesting information, well presented and easy to understand even for my 4 year old with multimedia displays, antiques and reconstructions. There was lots of chocolate to taste at several points in the museum. We spent a good couple of hours there and the kids were in no hurry to leave. The hot chocolate is good too. A nice indoor activity for families.
Visited the museum with a 5 and 7 year old, the whole family loved it! The exhibits are really interesting and the story is well laid out across the museum- I learnt so much that I didn’t know about chocolate! The kids get little activity packs and there is also a free audio guide you can access on your phone. Plenty of chocolate to eat across the museum that went down well and brings the exhibits to life. Everything was available in English and I think several other languages too. We spent a good 2 hours looking around. Situated right by Bonne Nouvelle metro so easy to find for tourists.
Although the history of cocoa and its production is interesting, I think it is better with children around. It is a self-guided tour and not crowded at all. We could taste chocolate (mainly dark chocolate) throughout the tour. And at the end of the tour you can get a cup of hot chocolate. Somehow, I expected more. I was hoping we could see how the chocolate is made and then get to taste the finished product. But it's all "theory"! But then, it DOES SAY MUSEUM!
Everything was great . Each room was wonderful. You can taste three chocolate. The personnel was nice and helpful
The museum was amazing when we entered we paid for 4 tickets and we paid for the hot chocolate for my kids the price is reasonable we had a chocolate in the box to pieces so they told us to wait not eat it until we see the show. we got a lot of information during the museum Walking we noticed a free chocolate we tried a dark chocolate in the beginning. The place has two floors I enjoyed chocolate in the first floor we get dark chocolate in the end In the second floor we tried as free different kinds of chocolate , dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate. At the end we had a small show with taking picture on Photos both it was a really amazing trip for us we got a lot of knowledge about the history of chocolate
