It's always a bit of a crap shoot when you sign up for a group tour and don't know who will be leading it, but with all the positive reviews I decided the odds were in our favor (plus, I was booking this at the last minute and the next day skip-the-line access was a bonus). As soon as our guide Avi introduced himself I knew we were in for a great experience. He was smart, funny, a great communicator and enthusiastically shared his love of art and history. I only wish that the tour lasted longer than it did.

What a wonderful 2 hours we had with Laurence. Her love and knowledge of the Impressionist period was just great. We learnt so much of the history around that time. The time went by far too quickly. A really interesting experience.
The Museé gets very crowded, so be sure to book this tour to avoid all of the lines. Amalie, our guide, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, giving us time at each piece but at the same time moving us along.
Wonderfully set up. Amelie was a great guide, spoke very clear and was so informative about the museum and the paintings inside.
Our tour guide was Adam- and he was phenomenal! His enthusiasm was matched only by his knowledge base! He approaches the museum as a journey through art history and mixes his extensive art history knowledge with his background in science (PhD). This resulted in an intellectually stimulating tour, yet very fun and upbeat. We all learned so much and left with a feeling of truly experiencing the museum. Great guide and tour! We cannot say enough good things about “Team Adam”!
We had a very informative, enjoyable tour with Claire. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the arts and shows it enthusiastically. One thing most enjoyable was how she connected the art and history of the period with very interesting stories. She also did a super job describing an artwork in one room, telling us to keep a certain something in mind, and making a connection with another piece by a different artist in another room. Claire was also quite good at moving around the crowds while still emphasizing the important pieces. I would gladly take another tour from her. Thanks, Claire!
Finding the meeting location and tour guide is confusing and chaotic with museum employees giving you conflicting information and insisting there is no such thing as a ticket that "skips the line". Lovely museum though
A must do and Felicia was great. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made everything that much more interesting.
Hugo was our guide and fabulous tour of the museum. Hugo knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting and manageable to get through this museum.
We loved having Laurence lead us through the Museum and we learned a lot about art history. She’s a very animated and knowledgeable guide. It would have been better to have headsets. The Museum was crowded and we had to stay close to hear her. As a result I don’t think we enjoyed as many paintings as we might otherwise been able to.
Excellent tour with Violette. She was a subject matter expert on the artists/,paintings she talked about. She certainly has a passion and made the tour fun.. highly recommend
Violette was an amazing guide. We learned so much and had the best time at my favorite museum in Paris. 10/10
Guide (Rosario) was great. Appropriate pace. Made the entire museum experience much more educational.
Our guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant. She brought the art in the Musee d'Orsay to life! Very much enjoyed speaking with her about the history of the museum and the Impressionist painters. Great tour - highly recommend!
Our tour guide Avi was so knowledgeable. We really enjoyed his presentation. He was also very friendly.
My partner enjoyed the guide. For me, she spent too much time talking about the earlier painters, missed the early Cezannes, Manets and Lutrec. Half an hour of intro would have been fine. By the time we got to the fifth floor she was very rushed. No mention of the post impressionists
Violette was great. She was friendly, professional and informative. Really enjoyed her company and enthusiasm. This is the place to visit to see Impressionism
Stéphanie as a guide was exceptional. My only issue was that I wished the meeting arrangements could have been clearer (ex watch for your guide who will have an iPad with your names…). There’s renovations in that same area plus lots of other tours.
She was quite knowledgeable and was very entertaining. However, she did not talk very loud and we had to stay extremely close to her to hear. In addition, she did not invite our seem to like questions being asked.
We had the best experience with our tour guide Adam. He gave us interesting facts and insights into many artists. He engaged us for the whole tour. I highly recommend this tour, and ask for Adam only!
Our guide Clare was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed her narration! Highly recommend this!!
Guide (Claire) was fantastic and did a very interesting tour! It was a great way to experience the museum.
I found Adam to be very engaging but was very disappointed in his tour felt like I was back in school. Instead of informing us about the paintings he engaged in Q & A to point to his point of view. Only showed us the paintings he wanted to make point about. Lovely man but need to think about why we went to learn about the paintings not Adam’s point of view. I left the group early because I was quite bored and felt like I was in class
Rosaria was a wonderful guide, thorough and detailed with great stories and insights to the art in front of us. She kept us on our toes and attentive for 2 straight hours (not an easy task with 2 teenage girls). Bravo!
Avi was very helpful, patient, and informative
Our guide Laurence was great! The meeting point for this Tour and all other tours needs to be more defined less confusing. We have difficulty finding the meeting points for all of our tours.
Avi (our guide) did an amazing job of bringing the different styles of art within the museum to life by telling it in a chronological story. Truly fascinating history that everyone (even my 13 year old son) thoroughly enjoyed.
Our tour was cancelled because the museum was closed due to the heatwave in Paris, but Viator was wonderful in helping us get a refund.
The tour guide never showed up. We contacted the tour provider directly via a chat and phone call did not receive response from either. After waiting 30 minutes We contacted Viator and they did provide a refund.
A I was spectacular! We loved the historical background that helped us understand the traditions in art leading up to the Impressionist period and the variety with in Impressionism.
Enjoyed it and our guide was great! She really know the topics and answered any questions that we had.
This was the best way to see the museum. Ruth, our guide was excellent and so knowledgeable about the art. The museums are so large and can be overwhelming, so it was nice to have somebody show us around who knew the ins and outs. This is the only I will do museum tours from now on.
Maybe wishpers are needed. He was a wonderful guide with a new perspective for me. The museum is very noisy. My hearing aides are not sufficient to hear everything .
We had an absolutely fabulous tour through the Orsay with Ivana, who was beyond lovely and so knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour to get the most out of this amazing museum. We learned so much not only about the art but also the context in which it was created. My teenage kids loved it too! Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Guide was extremely competent and knowledgeable in art history. Simon provided excellent commentary and was very personable.
A really enjoyable tour, that helped our understanding of the Musée d’Orsay and the development of art within the collection. We learned far more from our knowledgeable guide Arthur than we could have ever done visiting on our own. He was intelligent and his love for the subject showed :-)
Our tour was very well done and our guide Emanuel was excellent. The experience of having someone lead the way and explain everything to us was a huge plus and created a much better overall experience.
The museum is filled with treasures, but so many other patrons make it daunting. I’ll be back, but I’ll be prepared for pushy crowds.
Absolutely wonderful. It was breathtaking. Being in the room with all of the van Gogh and Monet works was unbelievable. Highly recommend this tour and our guide was fantastic and super knowledgeable.
I love the D’Orsay! Our guide was very knowledgeable, however, he went a little too far into details of almost every painting we saw which became a bit much. Hitting the highlights would’ve kept the flow moving and our brains engaged. I feel like we didn’t see much of the works because the focus was too long on specific artists. Seeing a few paintings of artists is enough instead of 10 of one artist.
The guide did not show. Wouldn’t answer messages nor could I connect by phone. Very expensive for a now show!
Our God was wonderful and she had an incredible knowledge of the museum and the various artists. I would highly recommend this tour.
This was such an interesting tour! Although I have some pre-existing knowledge of art history, my partner did not, and Simon was fantastic at finding the balance between making the information easily digestible and teaching me something new! I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to visit the Musee d’Orsay!
viatour did not tell us who our guide would be or what group name. we looked for viatour sign and were told that viatour was not a tour operator and we should check our voucher. not on the voucher and caused anxiety and frustration. the tour was excellent!
Our guide Claire was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about art history and the Impressionist period. This is a wonderful introduction to Musee d’Orsay even if you have been before, as I have. I learned many new things.
Absolutely amazing experience with Lillie (I think that was her name, and how it is spelled). Best tour we've done in a long time. We loved it. She was enthusiastic and super knowledgeable. If we were in Paris longer, we'd book her privately for more tours.
Trip cancelled by tour guide. Didn’t find out about cancellation until after we arrived at museum for 10:00 AM tour.
Tour was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. Walks claimed it was “moved” to a different time but of course this is effectively a cancellation. No notice was sent to the email used to purchase the tour, just a message through the Viator app while we were asleep. Would give zero stars if possible.
Our tour was a “no-show”, stating that they had sent us an email with change of date the day before. However, we received confirmation of the date and time both the night before and the morning of with our original time. First time for this happening to us, so frustrating. We were able to just buy tickets the day of and go through without the guide. Saved quite a bit of money too
We truly enjoyed our walking tour with Nazil at Musee D’Orsay. We were in a small group of only four people, and she kept the pace of the tour perfect, to see as many pieces as we could in our two hour tour. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to point out items of interest that we may want to come back to after the tour. My understanding is that we do not have the option to choose a tour guide as they are assigned to us, but I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest Nazil as a tour guide at any location in Paris. Little suggestion- hold a special colored umbrella or jacket at the mtng point and let tour participants know what to look for.
