Itinerary
Start in the heart of Montmartre, a hilltop neighbourhood that still feels like a village. As you wander its cobbled streets, your guide will bring to life the artists, stories, and small details that make this place so special.
We begin just across from the iconic Moulin Rouge, before slowly making our way uphill. Along the way, you’ll spot Van Gogh’s former home and the café made famous by Amélie — little moments that connect Montmartre’s past and present. Early in the tour, we’ll stop at a local award‑winning bakery to enjoy a freshly baked croissant — a simple but very Parisian moment.
Pause at the “I Love You” Wall, where the phrase is written in over 250 languages. Then slip into a quieter side of Montmartre, discovering one of its prettiest, lesser-known squares.
Pass one of the last windmills left in Paris and wander along one of Montmartre’s most beautiful streets — peaceful, elegant, and far from the busy crowds below. From here, your guide will lead you through a discreet passage to one of the best hidden views over Paris, along with one of the city’s most charming cobbled streets.
Tucked away on the hillside, you’ll find Montmartre’s hidden vineyard — a surprising reminder of the area’s past. Just across the street sits the Lapin Agile, a cabaret once loved by artists and writers.
End near the Sacré‑Cœur, but not in the way most visitors do. From a quieter viewpoint, take in sweeping panoramic views over Paris — a memorable final moment and the perfect way to end your time in Montmartre.

We had the best time with Camilla! Her storytelling was so enjoyable and her enthusiasm contagious! The route of this tour is so special and the surprise at the end made it so wonderful! Take this tour BEFORE touring Montmartre!! The small group is so much more enjoyable. We will seek out Intrepid again when looking for tours.
It is all in the guiding. Camilla (from Argentina) was sensitive, intelligent and humorous. On a glorious autumn day, there was no better way to spend 2 hours than meander through the quieter streets of Montmartre with such a knowledgeable and entertaining guide.
Camilla gave us one of our best tours in all of France! ( 4 cities, countless tours) Her storytelling is engaging and her enthusiasm contagious. The route plan for this tour offers a great surprise at the end. Be sure to take this tour BEFORE visiting the Montmartre area! It's a gem and so different from other parts of the city.
We had such a wonderful time walking through this quant area of northern Paris. Our guide, Camilla, was incredible. Took us off the beaten path, got us croissants from a great local bakery and made sure to stop occasionally so the walk up the hill to the church wasn’t too bad. Highly recommend this tour to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main city
Had an excellent time learning about the area of Montmartre. The tour guide was informative, funny and shared her knowledge in an interesting way. I would definitely book another trip!
Very nice walking tour with lots of explanation. The tour guide was from Intrepid Travel. We went on a food tour in Japan with that company this year and had a great guide there as well. I think they vet their guides relatively well. Pace was good and we finished up with the best views.
Cecilia was fantastic! She really personalized the tour to our family and was so kind. I have been on many Parisian tours and this one takes the cake.
Max was very knowledgeable and conducted a very interesting walking tour of Montmartre.
Camilla was a fantastic guide! She told us the interesting history of Montmartre. What I loved most about this tour is that we saw areas of Montmartre that we would never have discovered on our own. Camilla took us away from the super touristy & crowded areas to the beautiful & peaceful areas of Montmartre. I especially loved seeing Moulins de la Galette- Renoir’s inspiration for his painting with the same name. Another highlight is seeing the square where local artists were practicing their craft just like the master painters did in the 1800s. Totally recommend Camilla & this tour!!
Time and money well spent. The 2.5 hours flew by and the guide (Max) was fun and knowledgeable. We especially liked the small group size. Overall a great experience.
We attended this activity as a family with teenagers and comprised almost all of the small group. We were excited to tour with a local and hoped for local stories. The instructions asked us to arrive 10 minutes early but our guide was not early. Our guide was a knowledgeable artist who provided a lot of historical background. Our teens were extremely bored. Our guide walked slowly and was on their phone texting between stops. Our guide glossed over some icons of montmarte because they didn’t want to make the tour religious. We had hoped the tour guide would use some awareness of our group and show our kids some things of interest to them but they did not. We were jealous of the people on le petit train who still saw most of the things we saw but didn’t have to walk in the cold. I would rebrand this tour as one for those interested in details of architecture, history, and artists lives rather than hidden gems.
Max was awesome in his delivery of the history of the area and hill as well as the significance of the topic discussed… he was articulate, knowledgeable and witty. Highly recommend!!
Our tour guide was a wonderful ambassador for Montmartre, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the area. Her enthusiasm and energy were contagious, which definitely increased our tour group’s appreciation for Montmartre.
Max was an excellent guide! He was on time, professional, pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about the area. He made sure to take the time to show and explain all historical sites. We were very pleased with his tour. It was one of the best thst we have had during our holiday.
Cecilia was a great guide. We learned lots of interesting things and the croissant was delicious.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly So enjoyed my tour with her and highly recommend
The walking tour hit the mark. The guide was engaging and informative. The walking level was moderate: just as advanced (Montmartre is very hilly).
Our guide Camilla was wonderful! She took us all around Montmartre and we learned so much! The tour was educational, smart, funny and delightful!
Max was extremely knowledgeable and fun! We learned so much about this beautiful neighborhood.
Great your that was full of fun facts and the right amount of history. A good time enjoyed by us both!
Cecilia was fab. So passionate about the area, its artistic history and its contribution to Parisian culture. As an artist historian she had so much knowledge. Highly recommend taking the tour. 10/10 experience.
This was the best tour we had at Paris. Max, our guide, was phenomenal. He has so much knowledge and what a pleasure to have him as a guide. It was the very best guided tour that we have had as a family. Montmarte is so beautiful and Max maximized our experience. The croissant was also delicious.
Cici was great. Perfect tour!!!
Cecilia was absolutely incredible! Loved our tour. She had so much knowledge of the area to share with us, and so warm and so friendly. Unmatched energy! I could have spent all day on this tour. Would recommend to anyone. Accidentally caught a parade during the tour as well and it was a great surprised.
Parfait tour. A nice amount of information but not too much. Guide was excellent. We would not change a thing.
This tour of Monmartre was one of the highlights of our trip! The area was so adorable and there is so much history. It was a good value for the time and experience! You even get a croissant. It is enough time to give you a framework for the area before you explore on your own. Camila was an excellent tour guide and we wish could give her more stars. We highly recommend this tour company for their philosophy of smaller groups and promoting local businesses! My suggestion would be to go on a weekday in the morning as I think weekends get busy!
Christiana was a fantastic guide, excellent knowledge and a great personality. Would highly recommend
I love how Cecilia combined art with the backgrounds of history and culture! Thank you ♡
It was a great time! Highly recommend this tour!
We were in Paris three days and, had a couple of very dud tours with other people, however, this was the best we experienced. This was a small group, three couples, so just six of us. Our guide was excellent, a great personality, very informative and knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Although warned that this was a walking tour, involving steps and hills, it was all done at a sedate pace and was easily manageable. Our group age was all over 60. The tour was actually two hours long by the time we reached the summit but did not feel arduous. At Sacré‑Cœur, we then had advice from our guide about entering the church, or other nearby things we may like to see. This was a very satisfying and enjoyable tour. To my shame, I have forgotten the name of our wonderful guide, a young lady who was originally from Argentina, but had been in Paris for 8 years.
Camilla, was friendly, informational, and very positive. Great job!
Our guide Max was knowledgeable and entertaining. Would highly recommend
Great experience in Montmarte! Easy walk through neighborhoods to Sacre Coeur. Guide was very knowledgeable and professional.
Max is an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and the artistic legacy of Montmartre. The only hiccup was the meeting place. The instructions said Place Blanche which is a large and busy intersection. We had to message Max to find the exact spot in front of the entrance to the Metro.
Great experience. Especially for art lovers. Tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and accommodating.
A really well guided tour with Max, he showed us places I would not have seen if I’d go to Monmatre by my own. It was funny and interesting and not boring at all! Would recommend it for sure.
Super interesting tour and Max was excellent, very knowledgable, fun and and super engaging.
A wonderful experience with our exceptional guide, Max. I was on a previous Montmarte tour a few years ago. On that trip we were taken to all the high volume touristy areas and it was not very memorable. On this tour, Max told us about his personal relationship with the area as an artist and former resident. He had a lot of insights and information I had not heard before. He was also very accommodating on checking our pace and energy and keeping us safe on the narrow streets and sidewalks. A five star guide. And the croissant was delicious 🤤
Max was very friendly and personable. His tour was an absolute delight. He was an expert on the artists and their work created in the very buildings we we were looking at. He filled us in on the history of Montmartre in a fun, interesting way. He knew the cabarets, the churches, the windmills as well. It was top notch.
Celine was great and pointed out some of the best patisseries, Boulangeries, and restaurants of Montmartre! Great way to see the highlights and hidden gems in a couple of hours!
Maxx was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and professional. It was an excellent walking tour.
Excellent tour. Max focused on artists as well as the history of the neighborhood and was passionate and informative.
Cecilia was a very informative and enthusiastic guide who shared the history in a compelling way. I highly recommend this tour
My guide was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. There is a free public toilet by the church at the end of the tour. Even though there are a lot of steps and hills it was not strenuous. I would high recommend it.
Silvana was so engaging, knowledgeable and fun. Best tour we’ve had in France so far!
Very informative. Guide was enthusiastic and personable! Had great stories and photos of the artists' works and building histories. Lotsa fun!
Our guide was wonderful. She was enthusiastic and lovely. Unfortunately, Montmarte is one of the less appealing locations in Paris. Dirty/ vulgar/crowded. Very tough walking and not a lot to see ( and I have significant background in art of that period) Our guide was magnificent with very little to work with… She was highlight , but time is better spent in Paris elsewhere.
Cecilia was incredible !!! I enjoyed the tour very much
It was incredible everything the guide knew about art and special places. We really enjoyed it. Thanks Cecilia! And thanks intrepid! I do recommend it. 10 points!
