Itinerary
Once at the meeting point, you will start your tour by exploring ile de la cite, the oldest settlement in Paris. Once known as Lutetia, this former Roman city was the predecessor of present-day Paris, from which the city grew outwards.
From here, you will see the infamous Notre-Dame Cathedral Notre Dame Cathedral (Exterior Only)– the most famous of the Gothic cathedrals of the Middle Ages, distinguished for its size, antiquity and architectural interest.
You will then pass by the Saint-Michel fountain, a monumental fountain commissioned by Haussmann, under Napoleon III. It depicts the archangel Michael vanquishing the Devil, evoking thoughts of the battle between Good and Evil.
Next we will head towards Shakespeare and Company, a bookstore unlike any other. Just minutes from Notre Dame, it is arguably one of the most famous bookshops in the world where literary types from the Beatnik Generation would find a home through the 1950s and 60s.
Following on, you will see the Melkite Greek Catholic parish church, Saint Julien le Pauvre, one of the city’s oldest religious buildings.
You will also see the Roman Catholic church of Saint Séverin, one of the oldest churches that remains standing on the Left Bank and which continues to be used as a place of worship.
After this, we will head towards the Musée de Cluny, also known as the National Museum of the Middle Ages. This museum is partially constructed on the the remnants of the third century Gallo-Roman baths and houses famous collections from the 1st to the 15th centuries.
Next we will head towards the infamous Sorbonne University, a college that became the epicentre of knowledge. The history of the Sorbonne is closely linked to that of the creation of the French university.
We will then head towards the Pantheon (Exterior Only), a building originally built as a church dedicated to St Genevieve, but now functions as a secular mausoleum, containing the remains of notable French citizens such as Voltaire and Rousseau.
We will then go to the beautiful Luxembourg gardens, situated on the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter. The gardens, inspired by the Boboli Gardens in Florence were created in 1612 upon the initiative of Queen Marie de Medici and cover 25 hectares of land.
If we have time, we will see the church of Saint-Éienne du Mont, which contains the shrine of St Geneviève, as well as the tomb of Jean Racine.
We will also pass by the Wall of Philip August, the oldest city wall in Paris. The wall was built during the struggles between Philipp II of France and the Anglo-Norman House of Plantagenet, as the French King ordered a stone wall to be built in order to protect the French capital before leaving for the Third Crusade.

Hugo was an excellent guide. He provided so much history and context for one of the oldest parts of Paris, and showed some really interesting landmarks.
Jay gave a great tour of the Left Bank. I appreciated starting with the history of Paris, then learning much more about Notre Dame than if I came on my own. Jay gave interesting information about both the landmarks we saw in addition to life in Paris, doing so with enthusiasm.
Interesting and informative
Eden was our guide and she was Exceptional. Informative, friendly, answered all your questions, and helpful. We can't say enough about her. Had 3 tour guides in Paris so far and she is the best. We highly recommend her. Allison
Eden was awesome. She was so knowledgeable and courteous and we would LOVE to have her do ALL of our tours.
Jay was a fantastic guide one of the best I’ve ever had. His knowledge of the area was wonderful. I enjoyed hearing about Notre Dame and then going into the Latin Quarter. My family was tired that day and he kept the pace slow and kept checking on everyone. He answered all of our questions and gave us lots of good advice for our stay in Paris. He was enthusiastic and very easy to listen to. Something you don’t always get with all the guides. Would definitely use this company again.
Jay is a very informative guide weaving historical & interesting stories about the sites we were visiting. The tour was well paced.
Excellent tour with Tamari. She was knowledgeable, clear, and personable. Her English was great. We saw the best of the Latin Quarter and got an appreciation of its history.
Sophie was a great guide! Good experience.
Eden was a great guide! She was very friendly and knowledgeable and took us to many places in the Latin Quarter that we would not have seen on our own. Thanks!
Florian G. did an amazing job leading our university class group through a detailed tour of the Latin Quarter. He was able to incorporate some special details for our topic of study. Highly recommend!
Wow, so much to see and learn about in the Latin Quarter. Jay was so engaging and informative. Highly recommend this tour.
Supernice tour by Jay! So many stories and things ro know about!
Tamari was wonderful! She was so kind and informative. It was 100 degrees with the heat wave and she went slowly for us, stopped in the shade, took our comfort into account.
Eden was a knowledgeable, informative and fun guide. I will definitely get more out of staying in the latin quarter after spending the afternoon with her.
Our guide Eden was friendly, accommodating, personable and very knowledgeable. She "read the crowd" and paced the tour so that she was able to answer individual questions while imparting a wealth of knowledge. Being a native of Paris, Eden had a wealth of stories about the history of this gorgeous city and area. She shared her knowledge in a conversational fashion, making sure we all heard and had time to make inquiries. If we do another tour here, we will be looking for Eden.
Jay’s walking tour of the Latin Quarter was a highlight of our time in Paris. He was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the area to life with fascinating history and stories—from Notre Dame and its architecture to Marie de’ Medici and the Panthéon. One detail that really stuck with us was learning that three million people walked behind Victor Hugo’s coffin to the Panthéon—just one example of how memorable his storytelling was. I did the tour with my 15-year-old daughter and a friend, and Jay made it engaging and accessible for all of us. It was informative, interesting, and very well-paced. Absolutely well worth doing the tour!
Eden was very caring and thoughtful for a couple who were late, enabling them to join us.
This review is a couple months late but my spouse and I had a lovely tour with Alasdair! He was so engaging and warm, and the time flew by. He had very compelling stories to tell about each site and deftly interwove the important details about French history with some funny, less essential tidbits. You could tell he enjoyed giving these tours, and he was always open to follow up questions. I really appreciated how he had a unique perspective as someone who did not grow up in France, but has made a home in France, has a French spouse, and has clearly reflected a lot on French culture. We highly recommend him, and we would take any tours with him as a guide!
Eden did a great job. It was a nice tour of an area that gets away from the main tourist areas. It was a good change of pace from the "big" sites.
Our tour of the Louvre with Juan Caceres was amazing, He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about history and art. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Juan.
This tour exceeded our expectations and was absolutely wonderful. Eden was an amazing tour guide. Eden shared with us not only the history of the Latin Quarter but also provided local knowledge of the neighborhoods we explored. We were very lucky to have had Eden as our guide. It had just snowed in Paris and it was beautiful to walk the area with fresh snow all around us. Eden was kind enough to stop and take photos of my wife and I along the way, and Eden knew all the good stops for amazing photos. It was like Eden was our local Parisian friend showing us around the city. We highly recommend the tour but definitely try to get Eden as your guide!
Ljiljana was a very good tour guide who gave us really interesting insights into the Latin Quarter, along with a warm and welcoming approach.
We had a great time on the tour taking in all of the fantastic sights on this tour. Anatole was a great guide and kept us entertained with his stories and tidbits of information which allowed us to gain a greater appreciation of the monuments. great experience
Eden was a fantastic guide for our tour of the Latin Quarter. She was friendly, inclusive, and incredibly knowledgeable, tailoring the experience to our interests and letting us pause at places we wanted to further explore. We learned so much about the history of the area, its architecture and residents, and enjoyed a visit to the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. Highly recommended!
Eden took us on our walking tour around the Latin Quarter. She showed us many sights and shared interesting facts about the areas which gave me and my family of 5 a better insight into Paris! She was very clear in her explanations and very hospitable. She ensured our interests were taken care of. A must do if you come by Paris and ask for Eden!
Alasdair provided an incredible tour of the Latin quarter. The tour was educational, fun, and highly engaging. Would absolutely recommend!
It was a most informative and pleasurable walking tour of the Latin Quarter! Our guide, Alasdair, was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We can feel his passion for the city and its history. A 5-star experience!
I really enjoyed this tour. Jay was very knowledgeable. It was a long tour, but Jay kept us at a relaxed pace and we stopped often. There were so many landmarks to learn about and he used photos and maps to give us a complete vision of the area. I would go on this tour with Jay on my next trip.
Excellent tour with guide Eden M. As we walked through the lively Latin Quarter, we walked at a slow pace as she explained its history and local culture. She patiently answered questions and was delightful to be with for the entire afternoon. We recently took the tour of Latin Quarter with Francois V and thoroughly enjoyed the time together. Francois was so knowledgeable and excited to show us the wonderful architecture and share stories of the area. He had clear understanding of the locals and their way of life and the whole experience was something to remember. We would recommend this tour for a great dose of history and culture of a fascinating part of Paris.

Hugo was a very knowledgeable guide and open to questions from the group. I am still applying the knowledge I gained on flying buttresses and gothic architecture during the tour.
Our guide Tamari was excellent. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge. She had a positive spirit and gave us much good information. We really enjoyed the tour.
Francois is an experienced knowledgeable guide. He is inclusive of all the group and is flexible with the group requirements. Explained the history of the Latin Quarter and its place in modern Paris. Very informative. I would recommend him.
This was an amazing tour and François V was a phenomenal tour guide! He blended a depth of knowledge with humor and was able to answer everyone’s questions. I felt like I was getting the inside scoop and even locals stopped and listened in to his anecdotes!
Eden was a great guide that was able to Modify the tour to our desires. Visiting the Shakespeare and Friends bookstore was enjoyable as well.
Hugo was a great guide! He deeply knows his history and shared great insights during the tour. He was also so personable and witty!
Quite interesting. Not as creepy as I expected. Need to climb 111 steps on exit. Worth the visit. But tix in advance. Vive Lafayette.
My wife and i had a wonderful tour around the Latin Quarter with Francois. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Paris and the Latin quarter. Visited some lovely places and he aslo had some great suggestions for the rest of our visit to Paris. Highly recommend
Francois was an excellent tour guide- very knowledgeable, funny, engaging with each member of our small group. We learned a lot. Incredible knowledge of French history from its founding to the present day. Our time with Francois was as much entertainment as it was an education about Paris. Thank you! Highly recommend!
Fantastic day! Hugo was very passionate and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history and architecture of the Latin Quarter.
We did a tour of the Latin Quarter our first day in Paris with Eden M. As a local she had so much insight on everything we were seeing and gave thoughtful info based on the interests of our group. Our group only ended up being 4 people which we loved because we felt we got more of a one on one experience. Highly recommend!
Eden is a great tour guide. Her knowledge of Paris history and architecture (and English) is outstanding. We were very pleased with the tour and the guide.
It was a lovely experience, walking through the Quartier Latin and learning a lot of interesting details from our lovely tour guide, Giorgia. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone who is interested in exploring this district of Paris.
