Wonderful guide and tasting as well has great history. Wonderful champagne and Cheese and bread. Thank you
Excellent, informative and the favorite thing we've done in Paris! Raphael went above and beyond to answer our questions about this beautiful, historic area and even showed us a part of the district we don't feel we would have ever seen on our own. Kind, friendly and patient. We truly recommend taking a tour with Raphael!
Exceptionally great experience! Rafael was extremely friendly and informative. Despite being a level 4 sommelier, he explained everything to our level of knowledge Seeing the area, learning the history, picking up food along the way, all to culminate in a fun champagne tasting and pairing with what we had been gathering was such a treat! Was perfect to start our week with this, since we now know many places we want to visit for the rest of our stay. Completely recommend!!!
Excellent tour guides! Lots of wonderful information about champagne. In a small group, which is so much better and we also got to know the others on our tour.
Rafael is a French sommelier who informs not only about champagne, but also culture, history, and architecture. He and his father created this unique experience for visitors to Paris. Having lived in Paris all of his life his knowledge of and indeed his love for his city shows as he talks about and reveals all things Parisian. You literally go on a shopping trip with Rafael as he takes you through the less travelled side streets to find the hidden gems of Paris. First to a patisserie for some bread, then to a boulangerie for macarons then to a cheese shop for cheeses. Along the way he points out historical facts, architectural findings and his favorite restaurants. After our walk and “shopping trip”, we visit a wine cellar where we not only tasted4 different champagnes but also enjoy all the goodies he bought for us along the way ( fabulous cheeses, wonderful breads and delicious macarons. ). This was definitely a major highlight of our trip. You have to do it!
This tour had the perfect mix of tasty treats and cultural insights. Raphaël made us laugh and shared great stories about the neighborhood. The brasserie stop was a highlight, a real slice of Parisian life. Go for it!”
This tour was such a great way to discover Saint-Germain beyond the usual tourist spots. The brasserie stop felt super authentic, we had a glass of wine and soaked up the local atmosphere. Raphaël shared cool anecdotes and made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. Would 100% do it again!
Raphael was an excellent and knowledgeable guide! Had a lovely time with wonderful champagne! Bread and cheese were delicious. There was quite a lot of walking. Initial hour was rather far from end destination.
I booked a tour for a Tuesday. On Monday at 11:30 am while I was flying from US to Paris they left a vm that they didn't have enough people and were canceling. I completely understand they need a min #. The issue I have is that they told ME that I had to cancel! By the time I landed and got out my computer to cancel at 330, it was less than 24 hours before the event & the website doesn't allow changes oe cancelations without 100% penalty. In other words, I lost the $158 paid b/c they canceled. I called the vendor/operator 2xs and texted them for help. They refused to refund me and told me to schedule another event. Despite explaing that the policies do not allow changes within the 24 hours before. What a lousy way to start a vacation. I called trip advisor and explained the situatiin multiple times. I also offered to send texts and vm from operator/vendor. I had other events scheduled w My Winedays which I proactively cancelled.
Raphael was very good , knowledgeable and a pleasure.. We learned about the history and architect of Paris that we wouldn’t have touring ourselves
Had a wonder experience the tour guide was very passionate in his knowledge of champagne, food and history of the area. Highly recommend this tour you will learn a lot about champagne paired with great food!
What a great way to spend an afternoon tasting champagne paired with food gathered from local stores while getting to know the Saint-Germain area. Our guide was knowledgeable about wine and pairings and knew the area very well.
We had such a good time with Raphael who showed us Saint Germain des Pres' every secrets. Best Champagne, best cheese, best pastry… I would recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you!
Our Guide Raphael was great, we were just expecting it to be a traditional food tour where you stop at multiple place and eat, we stopped at multiple places and picked things up...ate and tasted at the end.
There turned out to be only two of us signed up for this tour, but our guide Raphael was happy to continue (despite the minimum number normally being three). Our thanks to him for that. What an interesting guy he proved to be. He told us he had previously been the sommelier at Le Grand Vefour which is probably enough to establish anyone's credentials as a wine expert. Essentially this tour takes the form of an introductory champagne tasting (at Les Editeurs in this instance) accompanied by what amounted to a tutorial about the history and process behind champagne. Having been primed with a load of new knowledge you are then taken on a walking route stopping at various locations to pick up bread, cheese, and pastries, ending up in a wine shop to consume the above and enjoy several champagne tastings. We learned a lot and enjoyed the trip immensely. The fascinating thing is that although the walking route took us to places with which we were very familiar, having visited them many times over the years, Raphael's commentary opened our eyes to lots of things we previously knew nothing about. His knowledge and understanding of the place and the history was as impressive as his appreciation and knowledge of wines. The tour took a generous four hours and was not rushed in any way. There was a fair bit of walking involved but much less than we would anticipate for a normal day wandering around Paris. If you don't enjoy urban walking or don't have comfortable shoes, this is probably not for you. If you genuinely want to learn more about champagne and want the opportunity to compare grape mines etc, then this is for you. Having experiences this trip we are tempted to explore the day trip options out of town.
It was wonderful ! Raphael is an absolut delight and a top tier guide ! He knows everything on Paris history and champagne. We had really tasty bite to eat and champagne. Would 100% recommend it :)
Can’t recommend enough this wine tour in Paris ! Our guide Raphael was perfect, friendly and so knowledgable on paris history. The pairing of the typical french food we picked up during the tour with champagne was the perfect way to end this wonderful afternoon !
Our tour around Saint Germain Paris was such a unique experience and beyond our expectations! We learned so many interesting facts and our fantastic host gave us excellent explanations to the wide variety of foods. The champagne we have tasted were absolutely amazing. It is totally worth your money, don't think twice before booking this tour!!!
We met our guide Raphael and immediately felt we were with a dear friend. His knowledge is so impressive and his patience for questions was without limits! Although we have visited Paris numerous times we learned more in this meeting. His knowledge of the area and the history surrounding it made this adventure even more fun. Then as we learned about the different champagnes and how to pair them ! Even a casual champagne lover will learn and enjoy. And for anyone that has some experience it will be a fun and enjoyable outing! Ask for Raphael you will make a new friend!!
The tour was amazing ! I can bet it's one of the best. The guide is very kind with us and shared with us many anecdote about Paris and his history. The best of all is the mix with champagne !
I had such a great time. Discovering Saint Germain Des Près, learning about all the hidden stories of the district and grabbing treats all along the ways. Great champagne selection and amazing time: highly recommend to anyone with an afternoon in Paris.
We were visiting Paris and booked this food tour. What a wonderful day discovering some champagne and visiting Paris and its history ! I truly recommend it if you’re a champagne lover and want to know more about Paris !
What an Amazing experience! Exceeded our expectations. Our guide Raphael was fantastic, we learned so much about Paris history, secrets.; Champagne tastings were absolutely amazing too. Would highly recommend this to anyone!
Wonderful guide. Great mix of history and food. And of course, outstanding champagne! Paris at its best!
Raphael was a great guide. He mixed history, food and champagne into a wonderful tour. Learned a lot and tasted great champagne!
Went on this tour with my wife and it was our favorite afternoon in Paris. You will not be disappointed. Nicholas was fantastic, engaging and knowledgeable. We got to stop at two places to taste champagne from larger houses and small grower producers you likely will never try outside of this tour. All the Champagnes were different and meant to introduce you to the difference between the regions within champagne, grape blends and sugar content. In addition to the champagne tastings we got to stop at different stores to pick up cheese, sausage, bread and desserts to pair with the champagnes. This all occurs against the backdrop of St Germain des Pres and all the history that does along with it. Great combination of walking historical tour, champagne tasting and fantastic food. Highly recommend!
