Itinerary
Meet your guide near the Catacombs entrance at Denfert-Rochereau and get ready to head far below the city. Descend the long spiral staircase into a maze of tunnels first carved as limestone quarries in the Middle Ages, later used as burial chambers when the city's graveyards overflowed. As you walk the bone-lined corridors, you'll see skulls and femurs stacked floor to ceiling and arranged into crosses, hearts, and archways, while your guide explains how the remains of millions came to rest here. Next, stand before the Barrel of Passion in the Crypt of Passion, the most striking arrangement underground, and hear the tale of a secret midnight concert once held in these tunnels. The highlight comes when a guard unlocks the iron gates to two restricted chambers closed to the general public, where your small group sees rooms most visitors never reach. The tour ends deep inside the Catacombs, with free time to linger and explore at your own pace before you exit to street level.

Extensive tour with restricted areas as advertised; knowledgeable tour guide. Caution/come prepared if you have vertigo, there are some steep spiral staircases.
Everything went as planned. Meeting sight was easy to find and guide was on-time. The tour exceeded expectations.
Very easy to book through the app. Great communication leading up to our trip and good directions to meeting point. Our guide Remi was wonderful and extremely passionate about what he does, we loved it!
Remi has a clear passion and it shows. Prepare for lots of steps and walking. Would highly recommend!
Our guide was very thorough explaining the history of the Catacombs. It is a tour you shouldn’t miss.
Eleanor was very punctual and informative throughout the tour! She knew her history and did a great job! Eleanor helped us afterwards in obtaining metro train tickets. We really loved her in the tour!
It is one of the creepiest but interesting tours you will ever do. I don't want to spoil too much but this trip through underground Paris will fascinate you as you learn about how and why there are so many bones and why they are where they are. There are about 100 steps down and back up and the tunnels are not large and if you suffer from claustrophobia may want to skip. With the tour we had access to areas not available to general admission ticket. Be prepared to be creeped out.
Remy was a wonderful tour guide. He maintained a nice balance between humor and respect while educating us about the catacombs.
We had an amazing experience. Remy, our guide was fantastic. He shared so much interesting information we would not have gotten without his guidance. Access to the restricted areas was a treat as well. Highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide, Remi, was amazing! He had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. This was an awesome tour all around and having a tour guide is definitely worth it!
Remi was amazing! Very knowledgeable and professional. We were able to walk through private areas only allowed for private tours. It was an amazing experience!
Amazing tour! Remi was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and overall just fun to be around. Will recommend all family and friends to visit!
Remi did a great job, he was super informative and took us to some pretty cool restricted areas. In this case 2 areas not available to the public with some pretty cool imagery
This extensive labyrinth of limestone tunnels under the city of Paris is well worth the visit. The history and atmosphere in the subterranean depth with the remains of four to six million Parisians to accompany you is quite unforgettable!
Great way to see the catacombs with a small group, access to areas most don’t get to see, and a knowledgeable guide who really helped you understand and respect the catacombs
We booked the skip the line with private access to the catacombs and are very glad we did. Remy was our guide and he was excellent. He has several years experience giving this tour and shared extra details from his experience. He offered lots of extra details that you can’t read online. The restricted area was surprising and very special. We loved it. Group size was about 15 people. Not too big, we were able to easily hear him and ask questions. Totally worth the extra time and money.
Remy was our tour guide! I definitely recommend. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Be prepared to walk a lot and wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Remi gave us an absolutely amazing tour! Would highly recommend! We saw secret rooms and heard amazing stories throughout. The tour was 2 hours long and moved at a great pace. Loved!
Interesting tour with a personable guide. The historical about this history of the site were fascinating.
Be aware that it's closed in spaces and a lot of stairs, but it was fascinating and our guide was very knowledgeable.
I couldn’t find the tour guide so I called the contqct number in the reservation and nobody responded. I couldn’t even get the real tickets for the catacombs so i had to pay 112 euros more. I talked to support but they said nothing can be done and they didn’t give me a refund.
This tour was fine but not outstanding. The history lesson was good but the catacombs are not as dramatic as they make it seem. Love Victor but this was not my favorite tour.
Visited with my teens and they enjoyed this so much! Restricted areas are so worth it and the guide was fantastic so much knowledge and fun facts he shared.
Such a cool tour- seeing the secret areas and hearing the stories was awesome! Would recommend to anyone!
We had a lovely time! Our guide was thoughtful of tight places and knowledgeable. Overall, a great experience even for our 12 year old son.
A last minute choice for our short trip to Paris and I was skeptical that it would be worth the money. It was worth every penny! Our guide was not only knowledgable but passionate about the Catacombs. Getting to go into restricted areas made this even more exciting and let us experience even more of the history. We loved it.
One of the coolest tours I’ve ever done! Remy is a fantastic tour guide! Knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor! I would recommend this to anyone!
Our tour guide was amazing!! She was enjoyable to have as our guide and explained the history of the catacombs and kept the group engaged.
We really enjoyed our time in the catacombs with our guide, Remi. Being able to access the restricted areas and have a knowledgeable guide is definitely worth the price.
I purchased a tour with 6 people, upon arrival the group had 18 people, 3 times more than advertised. They combined 3 groups for what reason I do not know. So I paid over $500 to not be able to hear the guide and miss half of what she was showing. I want reimbursement. Terrible experience.
The meeting spot was very easy to find. The tour guy took us over right away, maybe 20 in the group. First thing is a spiral staircase about 5 stories down. I am a bit claustrophobic and was worried but once you are down there it’s fine! Ceilings are low. I am 5’1, no issues. We were guided through tunnels with brief explanations about the history, which was fascinating. We got to go to 2 VIP parts not open to public. Guide was very informative and entertaining. Tour was about 2 hours. Stair climb back up wasn’t to fun 😁. Overall this was a great experience. I would however suggest a guided tour as opposed to self guided. The Tour Guy is also a great company to use for other tours as well! We did the Louvre Closing Tour with them!
A rare and interesting experience, with lots of history and macabre. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour come alive.
This was one of the best parts of our trip to Paris! Leo was so amazing and knowledgeable, and honestly we wouldn't have learned half the things we did about the Catacombs had we not gone on the tour with her. You can tell that she is really passionate about this piece of Paris' history. The whole tour was so interesting and having so much great context really made our trip to the Catacombs that much more incredible. Make sure to request Leo as your guide if you can, 10/10 would recommend!!
We booked in January when the cancellation policy was a "cancel for any reason". Our tour was cancelled because of COVID and we were told to "fill out a credit request". We were told it would be addressed 7 days before tour was scheduled because they were overwhelmed. Now we have been emailed saying they have changed their refund policy. I didn't realize you could change your refund policy AFTER I booked! I am filing a complaint with the BBB and credit card company for my $451. I realize everyone has suffered through this crisis, but the shady way it was handled was unacceptable.
We had an amazing trip down into the Catacombs with Leo. She is a great guide and considers herself a "Cataphile" having explored much of the Catacombs herself she is intimately aware of the history and significance it plays in Parisian history. The tour is not to be missed and having a guide along with "skip the line" made it even better. We got caught in some of the Gilets Jaune protests where many streets were blocked off. The Tour Guy called me to check on us and directed us right to the front door where we met Leo. Thank you!!
Leo was our guide and she was fantastic!!!. She told such great stories and got the whole group so excited about the Catacombs. It went very quick and despite other tourists she kept the group together and we all enjoyed it. Ive come back to the States and spent time reading about the Catacombs. Leo gave us recommendations for films and books to study. She had a great sense of humor and the areas we went to that were cut off to other tourists was mesmerizing. a pool and carved cities- it will take your breath away.
Great experience! Our tour guide Leo was very knowledgeable! Really knew her stuff! Had a wonderful time! Thank you!
Leo was a very experienced, and knowledgeable tour guide. Her stories were engaging and really painted a picture of what it was like for Parisians in 1770’s. Leo was patient with children on the tour, and answered every question they had to offer. Whether that was if ghosts are real, to were the bones were fake. I would recommend a tour with Leo any day. Thank you Leo for making this tour so enjoyable.
Loved it. Our guide was excellent. We had a great time. Very interesting information about Paris history.
Our tour guide Leo was great! She made the tour amazing. It was interesting material and site but was even better. We really enjoyed it.
My son and I took this tour in late September 2019. Our guide was Eleanor ("Leo") and she was fantastic! Her love of the catacombs and their stories was evident at every stop. Some notes: - you definitely do skip the line! We didn't wait at all despite a huge backup of walk-in visitors; - there are a lot of stairs! you'll end up walking up and down about 10 stories' worth; - the security is tight at both ends, both to protect visitors and the catacombs and to prevent idiots from taking souvenirs; - Again, Eleanor was fantastic. On a couple of occasions she had to gently shoo away non-paying visitors who couldn't resist her great narration.
the tour was amazing because of the catacombs and espacially guide leo. she is really able to bring live into the halls of death.
Tour guide Leo was awesome, made the tour fun! Appreciated the history info as well as the great attitude!
Great time in this tour. Our guide Leo was super kind and knowleable.. she has so much history and stories to share making our trip so worth the money
We booked our tour through The Tour Guy due to the reviews of the tour from this company. We also decided that we did not want to stand in a 3 hr line. This tour allows you to skip the line and get into the catacombs with a tour guide. Our guide was Leo. She was very friendly, accommodating and informative. She genuinely loves sharing stories about the catacombs and it’s history. Thank you to Leo and The Tour Guy company for this awesome tour!
My husband and I have recently done the this tour and were fortunate to have Leo as our guide. There is so much more to the background of the catacombs than their use as a graveyard. I was a bit creeped out to begin with, but Leo's enthusiasm for, and knowledge of the catacombs, helped me to move past this and to appreciate a unique part of Paris history. Definitely book this tour if you can and ask for Leo!
Leo was a wonderfully knowledgeable woman who knew inside stories of the catacombs and their history.
The tour guide never showed up. There was no communication from the company. I bought three tickets. The company never responded to emails. I want a refund.
Our tour guide was so enthusiastic about the subject and very well-informed. Great to share in somebody's passion! The ability to skip the line was crucial! Book ahead. The line wrapped around the block and most would have not gotten in. Also, the tour we took allows you to see parts of the catacombs that non-tour individuals do not get access to.
