Unfortunately, I can’t review the experience as we didn’t get to go. Our plane was so late getting in we totally missed the tour. We went to the Orsay, but I really regret not having the guide to help us understand what we were seeing.

Absolutely amazing. We lucked out and our group was only the 2 of us. Our guide was simply AMAZING. She tailored the topics to ones we were clearly interested in and the breadth of her knowledge was astounding. It turns out she’s an art history professor at Le Sorbonne. We’ve taken many tours of many art museums and this one was the best ever.
We had a wonderful visit to the Musee d’Orsay with our tour guide. She spent time educating us on the history of art in France and the techniques used and then continued to take us through the tour with an emphasis on understanding the artist himself and his approach. I found this to be instrumental in appreciating the works we saw making each come alive. I will always plan a tour guide for art museum tours from now on. It was unforgettable!
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and personable. As she was an art professor at the Sorbonne, we got a university level art history class! Only issue was the meeting place. You’re asked to meet in front of a rhinoceros statue which is no longer there. The staff inside the museum had no idea what we were talking about! We did meet up with our guide on the courtyard in front of the museum (use the address - forget about the rhino).
We got no communication from the guide prior to our tour, but we arrived at the spot noted by the company 10 minutes early. Our guide arrived right at our tour start time and didn’t see us because she was at the door to the museum, up the stairs ( not where the emails told us to go). When we finally connected, she already appeared to be annoyed with us, and her attitude extended throughout the tour. She taught us very little about the artwork or the artists, and rushed us through the 5th floor exhibit. An hour into our 1.5 hour tour, she told us she had to go down to meet with another group. She said we could come with her, but didn’t say whether she would be doing anything different in their tour. We assumed she would be going through the same spiel, so we let her go early. We went through the other floors on our own, but without any of the benefits of a knowledgeable art expert. This tour was a disappointment and not worth the money.
Our tour guide was extremely passionate and knowledgeable. I have done other tour guides in this museum in the past this one I would say was the best I appreciate her passion and her insight how these paintings are done gave me new things to learn.
The woman who was my guide was excellent! She was very nice and very knowledgeable on art history and painting and sculptures. This was the best experience and I really enjoyed her descriptions. I really learned a lot from her.
My eldest daughter is really into art so I thought it'd be a nice experience to show her Van Gogh and Monet. There was so much more to see too! The art gallery is huge, we even got lost at one point looking for the children's section. We ate in the cafe which was a lovely experience and our server was very friendly. It's beautiful to see all the original clocks from when it was a train station. My only reason for not giving it 5 star is I feel the signs could have been better and laid out better as some parts of the gallery were like a maze. Also the toilets were not very clean at all which needs improving.
The tour guide never showed up so we called asking where he was. The tour company called him several times but didn’t answer. We are waiting for a refund.
My friend and I had an amazing tour of Orsay! Even though it was extremely busy our guide was phenomenal and took us through seamlessly. Unfortunately we have forgotten the name of our guide, but she was absolutely amazing. She was knowledgeable and very friendly, not only showing us the highlights but also some of her personal favourites. It was a unique tour as she explained how to actually look at paintings properly, especially the impressionists, and our perspectives changed completely. The only negative was the lack of communication from Tripadvisor / Viator / Taste of Paris. They didn’t provide me with a contact number and the location advice is outdated - it lists a Rhinoceros statue that is no longer there - so that was confusing and a bit stressful to begin with as we didn’t know if we would be able to find our guide! However, our guide called our names from the front of Orsay so it didn’t end up being an issue, and she told us she had my number anyway even if I didn’t have hers. Thank you!
Excellent tour of the museum and the art! Highly recommend to obtain a better appreciation of art history.
This was a truly unique experience but it seemed rushed. The description said 90 minutes but our tour guide was there for an hour. I appreciated her expertise and insider knowledge; it was like a fire hose of information. I learned a great deal. But after she left we stayed and attended an exhibit and looked at some of the art we had been rushed by.
Catherine was a wonderful guide with an extensive knowledge of artworks, sculptures & history of the Musee de Orsay building. She was able to accommodate my husband's wheelchair accessibility during the Tour through the crowds of visitors. She gave the highlights of the Orsay so we could wander through the Musee for the rest of the day.
Our guy never got back to us and never showed up. I asked for a refund, but I have not heard back about that either.
We had a tremendous guide, Asfaneh, a professor of art history at the Sorbonne for our first visit to Musée d'Orsay. Over 1.5 hours, she guided us through the major Impressionist holdings of the museum revealing the techniques, back stories, and motivations of different artists of the genre. Asfaneh made the art come alive! A very memorable experience, and highly recommended. There are a ton of exhibits in the museum, and this tour is far from exhaustive of its holdings, so think of the tour as a targeted experience that focuses on the Orsay's most famous/popular pieces. You can remain in the museum after the tour if you wish to explore more. Note that for this tour, you need to book & purchase museum entry tickets on your own directly from the Museum, and then book the tour based on your entry time. This allows you to schedule the time of your visit to your preference.
Our guide was fabulous! The tour was so interesting, he really provided great information about the artwork and the artists. We felt like we had insight into the life and times of the artists. He also used an iPad to share photos and a wireless headphone system so he could whisper and we could still hear him. Damien McDonagh is a grear tour guide, I highly recommend!
Beautiful old train station, turned into a fabulous art museum. Very knowledgeable guide the meeting place was different from what Viator shared. We had a hard time finding our guide.
The quality of Viator tours varies greatly depending on the individual guide, who isn't known in advance. I've generally had pretty good luck, but they can be great to just okay. Also, make sure to confirm whether entry tickets are included or not, and if not, make sure they are available for the date of your tour.
Ana was a great tour guide, she taught us about the painters, and showed us how the paintings changed based on your perspective. We loved our tour with her, highly recommend!
This was the best guided tour I have ever experienced. Our guide was very knowledgeable about art and we so much from her.
This tour should not be offered without admission tickets. I booked the tour and then went online to buy museum admission tickets but they were sold out. When I messaged the guide company they messaged back a day later and abruptly said to cancel the tour. I wrote back to say I found some admission tickets to the museum through a third party so we were still good to go. We made it for our 16:00 tour and no guide in site. VERY unprofessional. Very expensive tour and we've taken tours all over the world. Never has anything like this happened before. Disappointing to say the least.
Excellent tour! Our guide Crystal was very engaging and informative! I would highly recommend this tour!
The museum was closed and no one bothered to tell us until we arrived at the meeting place. We have requested a refund.
The guide was wonderfully knowledgeable and brought a nice energy and enthousiam to the tour. Thank you!
Nom : DUFFAN Prénom usuel: Afsaneh She was so knowledgeable and heartwarming throughout the tour. It was a pleasure to have this time with her
Damien was very knowledgeable and great at navigating crowds to experience key works of art without huge crowds around them. His passion for many of the key artists we explored was infectious.
Best tour of my life with Juan. She was informative, professional and yet made it personal for me. A memory that will stay with me. I love art. I love history. And I love art history. She had it all.
My daughter, son (who is a wheelchair user) and I had the best time with our guide Gonzalo. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable; we truly enjoyed our experience. And, Gonzalo really looked out for my son which was very much appreciated. He and this beautiful museum tour get 5 stars!!
Excellent knowledge of the artwork and great to see and hear so much about some amazing artists. Definitely recommend doing this tour.
Our tour guide was amazing..very caring, kept the kids engaged! However, purchasing tickets, communication from the local tour company wa very poor. We paid more than we should have for the tickets.
Tour set for 4 pm on NYE which is when museum closes entry. After our guide no-showed we sprinted to entrance and made it inside. Tour had no communication and never responded to my repeated requests for contact information. Awful. Asked for a refund. Still awaiting a response.
Gonzalo is a knowledgeable guide. The tour flowed well with how the art style changes overtime. Gonzalo told stories of how artists influenced each others, how some artists decided to break the painting rules and eventually evolved into new painting styles. There are just so much too see in Musee D’Orsay. A good tour guide certainly makes a difference. We were lucky that no other people booked the tour on the same time as us. It became a private tour. Also we were reminded that we need to purchase the general admission tickets ourselves as soon as we booked the tour. Everything went well from booking to the actual tour.
Voucher received day if event. First time notified that entry ticket would be needed to purchase separately.
Afsi was a wonderful guide - so informative and articulate about the pieces in the Orsay. She was great & I highly recommend her tours!
Our tour with Afsaneh was well worth it, especially for families like ours who wanted to maximize our time during a short trip to Paris and make sure that our teenage kids learned a few things about art along the way. Afsaneh was extremely knowledgeable and her passion for art (especially the Impressionists) kept everyone engaged during the tour. I highly recommend.
Fantastic tour. A guide can make or break a tour and our guide was the best. Incredible Lu knowledgeable in communicating the ideas, the importance, the reasons for the paintings (and sculptures) that we viewsd. We ended the tour with new knowledge and appreciation. Our favorite tour in Paris by far!!!
Excellent tour guide was very knowledgeable walked at a good pace so we could see many of the paintings and explained each one . There were only 4 of us .
Beware. An entry ticket into the museum is NOT provided in the price. My tour guide was nice to contact me the night prior to the tour. NO reminder to pre purchase an entry ticket. ALSO INSTEAD OF ASSISTING IN PURCHASING THE TICKET ALL I RECEIVED WAS A STERN LECTURE YOU NEED TO READ THE FINE PRINT BETTER!
Our guide was late arriving to the museum. We were not aware that he was trying to contact us through the "Whats App", to let us know he was running late and on his way. This did stress us out, but all's well that ends well! The tour itself went well, Guide was knowledgeable & helpful.
The museum was wonderful. Our very knowledgeable guide combined the appreciation of the art with a history lesson. This was a big plus.
I paid an extra €85 for a private tour for myself and my wife and two other people showed up on the tour. The guide acted like it didn't matter because it was only an additional two other people. That isn't the point. I wanted a private tour so we could have more interaction with the tour guide. We are owed a refund but it really didn't meet my expectation as a result of their selling others onto our private tour.
Small group is definitely the way to go (ours was only us!) The guide gave us different perspectives and we felt her passion shine through! Excellent guide and tour.
Went through the museum on a guided tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable regarding the art as he was himself an artist. He explained the use of colors and to achieve certain effects within the paintings. I enjoyed his explanations and thoughtful comments!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful answering all of our questions. Explained how all the Artists differed in their approach to their art. She give us terrific overview of their lives which was extremely informative. We enjoyed the tour and learned so much about them.
Guide never showed up. Waiting for aviator to refund the money. No response to date. Museum was great
Our tour guide was great. She was very informative. One in our party required a wheelchair and she was very accommodating.
Ichun was a great guide. Very informative and answered all our questions. Wonderful tour. Would recommend.
I highly recommend the tour guide experience. Front of the line is a lifesaver but the knowledge received is the best!!
Overall, a great experience. But, it was supposed to be a two hour private tour. Our guide said she was done after 1 1/2 hours.
Afsaneh was an incredible tour guide. A professor at the Sorbonne, she is knowledgeable and passionate about the art. I came with my 14 year old daughter, who usually gets bored at museums, and Afsaneh did a great job engaging her and gearing the tour to interest her. We both got so much out of it and hope next time we're in Paris we can request her to see more of the amazing Orsay.
