Itinerary
Situated in the beautifully manicured Tuileries Gardens, the Orangerie transformed into a museum in the early 20th century when Paris’s over-crowded museums needed new galleries. The Orangerie most famously houses the series of various waterlilies Monet granted to France thanks to his friendship with George Clemenceau, which earned their own private gallery space. The expansive collection of 19th century and early 20th century paintings features works by other famous Impressionists and those who came after. View Cezanne’s studies of fruits and flowers, seductive portraits by Matisse, and various phases of Picasso’s career through several nudes. Other artists including Modigliani, Renoir, and Utrillo, all make the Orangerie a must-visit for anyone who appreciates French art and the Impressionist movement.

We enjoyed our tour with Alban. He has great knowledge of art history and did I wonderful job teaching us ! I would definitely recommend this tour as for someone who is novice with the arts he really made it fun and interesting.
Very nice experience. The guide Zdravko is very knowledgeable, I enjoyed my time in the museum a lot.
We really enjoyed our visit of the museum. The guide made it even more interesting by explaining the history and context to put the art into perspective. The visit was at 10am so the museum was not crowded. The museum is underrated compared to the other big museums, but it is definitely worth visiting!
Hugo was excellent! His knowledge, passion and expression added to a magical experience!
Absolutely fantastic private tour of the Orangerie with Sunday of Babylon Tours. A private one on one tour is absolutely the best way to go through the Paris art museums especially with someone with art heritage and knowledge like Sunday. Once again, you can’t go wrong with Babylon Tours. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Sunday and Babylon!! Loved it!!
Hugo was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He provided lost of details and anecdotes that I was unaware of.
The guide Belen was excellent, very knowledgeable. But her talks were a bit too long. We would prefer to have more time to view the paintings.
Anatole S. Provide great insight into the art & artists. It was a wonderful way to explore L’ Orangerie & Monet’s water Lillies.
This was a wonderful tour. We saw everything we wanted to see and received all the explanation we needed and wanted.
Excellent in every way . Elena our guide was superb
Our tour with Belen was an absolute standout. She has that rare mix of deep knowledge and lively storytelling that makes every place feel alive. The three hours we spent with her felt like exploring with a passionate local friend, and the fact that it ended up being fully private made it even better. Belen turned a simple tour into a memorable experience. Highly recommend.
Dunja gave a great tour. It was the right pace. It was informative enough but did not feel like a lecture. She added insight about how the architecture and lighting impacted the artwork. She kept us engaged. She also did a grea job explaining the use of color. I would recommend her.
Amazing experience brought about by Ljiljana, our wonderful guide! She’s very knowledgeable and shows her excitement as she walks us through the exhibition! TOP!
Belen was the perfect guide: knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a lot of fun. She provided so much relevant history and “back” stories about the artists and cultural influences on their works. We would do it again tomorrow!
The water lily rooms are spectacular. Michel, our guide, gave us background and interesting stories which brought the art culture alive. He was wonderful.
Our guide, Emilie, was excellent. We were caught up in traffic and a few minutes late and it was no issue. Emilie was extremely knowledgeable about the pieces in the Orangerie and told us a lot of interesting back stories about the artists. We can’t wait to come back to Paris and explore more now that we know so much more about the artists. Also, a quick shout out to the Orangerie, which is the hidden gem of the Paris Art museums. A great, yet small, collection. 5 stars!
We enjoyed our tour guide. He was knowledgeable and made the experience memorable. Museums are better with a good guide.
Zdravko ‘Z’ was an excellent tour guide! My mom and I very much enjoyed the pace of the tour. We learn many new things and opportunity to observe the work independently. It was a great balance. ‘Z’ had wonderful photos on a tablet to add to the richness of the tour. Thank you!
So glad to be able to see the Monet water lillies. Our guide was fabulous and really helpful in getting the most from this experience. This is a must go!
Dunya was the best guide we ever had! Extremely knowledgeable and helpful, she made this tour the most memorable and enjoyable experience! Highly recommend!
My guide was exceptional, he communicated with me ahead of time, gave me location information which helped ease my concerns. His knowledge was extensive and communication skills were excellent.
Our guide, Dunja, was terrific. In addition to describing the artist’s techniques, she provided explanations of the art’s historical and cultural contexts. Her descriptions were clear and easy to understand—but not simplistic.
A great tour by a knowledgeable and pleasant guide, showing us the highlights without feeling rushed.
We have visited Paris four times but the tour of Le Orangerie was by far the highlight of them all. Dunja was a brilliant tour guide - incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about art and very engaging. We loved the way in which she was able to locate the art in the context of social history. And of course the art works are amazing!
We had a perfect tour of L’Orangerie with Sunday! We had visited Monet’s beautiful water lilies in the past but learned so much more about the entire history of the museum, relationships to other artists, as well as interesting insights about Monet. We asked if we could tour with Sunday again since she did such a fabulous job on this tour. Highly recommend.
We booked this tour and got incredibly lucky having Hugo as our guide. He was welcoming, extremely knowledgeable and very intertaining. He explained everything with details and at the end made an incredible statement of what is art and how precious it is. My husband and I loved still talk about this day today.
This museum was fantastic, all works were in big airy spaces with plenty of room to view. The coffee shop was very reasonable . The access for disabled people was great, straight through no waiting. Anyone with a disability card to go in got free, with no booking required. Highly recommend a visit.
We had a wonderful tour with our guide, Emma. She was extremely knowledgeable, explained everything clearly, and made the entire experience both engaging and enjoyable. Her passion, warmth, and expertise truly enhanced our visit, making it not only informative but also memorable and very enjoyable from beginning to end!

Lili was informative, kind, and knowledgeable. Her knowledge of the artists in the museum was impeccable. We enjoyed every minute!
Excellent tour. This is a smaller museum but with a beautiful and exciting collection. Less crowded than the louvre and orsay which really improved the experience. We really appreciated the expertise and knowledge of our tour guide who made it a wonderful and enriching experience for us. Romain from Babylon tours was friendly, organized and ad did a great job explaining the history of the water lily paintings of Monet , and introducing us to the artworks of Derain, Soutine, Laurencin and Rousseau. His passion and expertise were evident and we learned a lot from having him as our guide. We highly recommend this tour.
This was second private guided tour in Paris with our guide Anatole. He did a great job explaining the history of Monet’s paintings and the other collections at the museum. Our guide Sunday, introduced us to the museum’s rich and very nice collection of impressionist, fauvist, and modern paintings. Sunday explained the art movements, the painters, and gave insider stories of the painters, We learned a lot from her and enjoyed our visit with her.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful private tour of The Orangerie Museum in Paris. Our guide, Lili, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and she engaged my two young daughters very well and kept them interested in the paintings. The highlight of the tour, of course, was Monet's magnificent Waterlilies ("Les Nympheas"), and our guide Lili did a superb job explaining the history and meaning of these awesome works of art. Highly recommended.
Belen is excellent. Her knowledge of the paintings is only exceeded by her exuberance in explaining them. Would do other tours with her.
Our family of 5 (kids 17,15,10) did a tour of the Orangerie with Anatole. He made the experience so much richer and more enjoyable as he explained the history, importance and picked out the key artworks in the museum. We were lucky enough to see the Heinz Berggruen collection, including Picasso, Klee & Matisse and this allowed Anatole to really take us on a journey of discovery. His passion is evident, as is his charm. I am sure we would not have had anything like the experience we did, if we had just purchased our own tickets. I cannot recommend him enough. Make sure you allow a little time after the tour to really soak it up.
Intimate group of three. Easy to ask questions. Guide had great background information. Also displayed photos of artists.
Marcel was amazing. He educated us on the history of the time, art innovations, family and life time of Monet. We were able to appreciate the art so much more with the background information.
Malaika was a wonderful and engaging guide who gave a thorough but easy to understand overview of Impressionist Art. Our visit was enhanced by her expertise and friendly personality.
Lili was an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable about art and art history. Recommend if you want to see the Water Lillies.
What a special place. The tour with our guide was terrific! Emma was delightful, most knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the space and its special contents. We will most definitely refer this tour to colleagues, family and friends. Thank you so very much Emma for your deep insight and kindness!
