Above expectations on every level. Meeting instructions very unambiguous, guide's knowledge of Saint Jeanette and Rouen was exceptional. Milan has a very engaging style and it was a joy to meet him. I couldn't recommend his tour more highly.

Itinerary
• You'll meet your personal tour guide at a meeting point received upon booking • Excursion starts at 7:30 to 8am - Back in Paris at about 5-ish pm. Duration: About 8 hours • Scenic train from Paris to Rouen in Normandy. • In Rouen, you'll explore the historic and quaint downtown with its medieval architecture. • You'll admire the tallest gothic cathedral of France, Notre-Dame of Rouen, that was recurrently painted by impressionist Claude Monet. • You'll see the place where Joan of Arc was executed, burnt at the stake. • You'll admire and learn about the richly, beautifully crafted city clock tower of Rouen, one of the oldests of France. • You'll discover many other true hidden gems on your tour route such as a former medieval cemetery (very busy during the black plague). • Spectacular views along the way • Possibility to eat at one of several lunch accommodations in town (not included) • Your tour will cheerfully end upon our return to Paris
As the tallest cathedral of France, Notre-Dame (Our Lady) of Rouen has been painted several times by Impressionist painter Claude Monet who loved recreate the sunlight variations on it throughout the day. Inside the church lies many treasures, among which the tomb effigy of the duke of Normandy and king of England Richard Lion Heart, and other powerful medieval figures of Normandy and France.
Iconic belfry with its daintily crafted clock. While we'll admire it from the lively pedestrian street that goes under the belfry, it will be possible for an additional fee to visit inside and climb up the stairs for a spectacular view of Rouen!
A former medieval style graveyard, recently turned into a cultural center with a café and art galerie. Quite eerie!
A modern church with magnificient 16th century stained-glass windows, next to site of Joan of Arc's last breath, built in honor of her martyrdom.
Through the quaint medieval looking streets, there is this magnificent building, a symbol of renaissance architecture.
Historic site of Joan of Arc's execution. The whole city of Rouen is vividly impregnated with the martyrdom and last breath of this national icon.
The Joan of Arc Historial is not a traditional museum with classic works hung on walls. It is rather an immersive show re-enacting our heroin's saga and posthumous trial for rehabilitation in 1456 where witnesses of this era will guide you from room to room ensuring you an unforgettable experience.

Milan was a wonderful guide! He is knowledgeable, passionate and fun to be with, and made our trip to Rouen very special. We highly recommend Milan and this tour if you are interested in visiting Rouen.
Milan was an outstanding guide! He was personable, very knowledgeable, and had a passion for the services he provided as a personal guide. I would highly recommend Milan for any services he might provide for Normandy! I was very pleased in my choice for a day trip to Rouen!
The experience with Milan was amazing , we had a glitchy start but that was an error on my part, but he was still accomodating and despite our late arrival, once onboard the train to Rouen. The scenery was changing and beautiful, once at Rouen, walking the through the streets and having Milan tell us about the history and show us the steps towards Joan of Arcs life and end of life, was an experience . Our 13 year old loved the day and was made special with Milan’s knowledge and passion . Thank you for a wonderful day and hope to see you again on one of your other tours .. highly recommend this tour
Memorable experience and awesome trip to Rouen to learn the history of Joan..have some time to stop by to some gift shop and restaurant along the way too
Milan treated us like friends visiting his country! We had an amazing experience thanks to him. He guided us perfectly to where we needed to go, gave us great information and history about each location. We would not have known how to make our way around these cities without him! Giverney was my favorite, Monet’s house truly stunning and following St. Joan of Arc’s footsteps were incredible. We enjoyed exceptional experiences and are grateful to Milan for making our trip even more special!! We would recommend him 1,000%!!!!
This tour with Milan of With Love From Paris tours, was one of the best tours I have ever been on. Milan was phenomenally thorough, professional, and a delight to be around. His knowledge of the subject matter was amazing and I would recommend this tour to everyone.
We had the most spectacular day with With Love From Paris. We did the Rouen Day trip with Joan of Arc highlights. It was the best tour of our trip. Milan was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and easy to listen to. He kept us engaged and interested the entire day. Time flew by. I would highly recommend him and his company to anyone traveling to Paris or the surrounding areas. You won’t find better.
This was without a doubt the best tour I have ever been on (and I’ve been on a few) while the tour itself was amazing, what made it far beyond anything I’ve experienced so far was our guide, Milan. Hands down Milan is a true professional and created a magical day that we will never forget. From the communication prior to the tour, to the little touches along the way Milan made this day for us smooth, educational, wonderful and memorable. We were met by Milan exactly where directed, and smoothly boarded our train, Milan providing many points of interest along the way. My partner and I travelled with two young children and Milan made sure that they were entertained the whole journey and even surprised us all by buying them a bag of chocolates from one of the stores in Rouen. We chose this tour to see Rouen and learn about Joan of Arc. We were not disappointed, this was a terrific insight into all things Joan of Arc and I for one learned a lot more than I knew prior. But it didn’t stop there, the history of Paris, France, Rouen, and many more were all passed to us by Milan throughout the day. His knowledge and passion for his country and its history was astounding. We will definitely travel back to France in the future and would not hesitate to take another tour with Milan, a wonderful guide and true professional. At the conclusion of our journey Milan escorted us to the nearest taxi making sure we were safely in the car and informed our driver of or hotel. There was not a single thing for us to worry about the entire day. Absolutely fabulous!!
We had a wonderful day touring Rouen with Milan . Milan gave us a historic and current perspective of all we saw. His sense of humor and ease of conversation was relaxing. From the time we sat on the Train until we sadly said Au Revoir the day was exceptional. The sites and the food will not be forgotten. Looking forward to taking more tours with Milan in the years to come.
All of it was so exciting to see medieval buildings. My guide Milan was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and it made it become more alive. He was helpful, polite and caring. I would highly recommend this tour with Milan
What a wonderful adventure. Our tour guide, Milan, is kind, and extremely knowledgeable. On this tour we traveled, by train, not only to Rouen, but also to Giverny and toured the home and gardens of Monet. This was our first trip outside of Paris and it was beautiful. This tour made our trip to France very special… thanks to Milan. Do not miss out on this tour. Be sure, if possible, to ask for Milan.
Milan is one of the best guides I have used. He allowed me to customize our tour months before arriving in Paris and suggested several additions. He contacted me several times before the tour — one being two days before the tour with the precise time of pickup. His historical knowledge of the areas toured is extraordinary. Milan even added on taxi service when he saw that my sister was having knee issues. The whole day was amazing as is Milan.
What a wonderful experience! Milan was amazing, he took us to places we would never find on our own. He is very knowledgeable and nice. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend him.
Excellent personal tour in the city of Rouen with our tour guide Milan. Milan was very friendly and knowledgeable. He also made the tour time efficient, casual and fun.
My husband and I went on an all day tour from Paris to Rouen with Milan, the founder of With Love From Paris Tours. over the years, we have travelled to many places, have taken many tours, and Milan, without a doubt, is the best tour guide that we have ever encountered. He is incredibly nice, thoughtful, and extremely knowledgable. It was a pleasure to hear him speak about the history of Rouen, Joan of Arc, the Cathedral, etc. Due to mobility issues, Milan arranged for a car to pick us up at our hotel in Paris, stay with us throughout the day, and return us to our hotel 12 hours later. On our way back, we took a slight "surprise" detour, and visited Chateau Gaillard. A fortress built in the 12th century for Richard The Lionheart. What an incredible sight/site. Milan went out of his way to cater to our needs and interests. We had such a wonderful time, that going forward, he is our "go to" tour guide when we are in Paris.
This past Summer during our two-week stay in Paris we reached out to Milan Melet (With Love From Paris Tours) for a tour of Rouen, historic medieval capital of Normandy. Since we have been very pleased with his tour services in the past such as his Parisian market tour followed by a delectable picnic in the shadows of Chateau of Vincennes, his memorable tour of the Champagne Country, and the wondrous experience of Claude Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny, we had Milan design a tour for us of Rouen. As usual we were not disappointed! Milan meticulously took care of all the details, and soon showed us his expertise and love for Normandy. After all, he was reared in this region of France. He met us at the Paris Gare St-Lazare train station early in the morning, where we boarded our train for a scenic one-and-a-half-hour ride to Rouen. It is a brilliant and easy getaway from Paris. Upon arriving in Rouen, Milan took us downtown to visit what is without a doubt one of the most stunning cathedrals in France, and maybe in all of Europe. It is an excellent example of classic Gothic architecture. Its imposing façade will take your breath away. Its spire alone erected in 1876 is the tallest in all of France. As Milan guided us through the interior of this cathedral, he proceeded not only to identify the various treasures within these venerable walls, but he also enlightened us about the extensive, complicated, and colorful history of Normandy. He shared with us his valuable insights into the prominent historical events which occurred under the times and lives of Rollo, William the Conqueror and Richard the Lion heart. Milan is well versed in his history, and enthusiastically loves to share his knowledge. Another highlight of this tour was learning more about the history of Joan of Arc, and her tragic demise. He arranged for us to tour the very jail cell where she was initially confined. It is curiously juxtaposed in the basement of a modern building which currently houses medical and legal offices! We could only ponder what thoughts may have raced through her mind as she awaited her fate within the walls of this dungeon-like cell. Next, we toured the Joan of Arc Museum located in the Archbishop's palace in Rouen, in the heart of the historic center. Her second rehabilitation trial (1456) and ultimately her condemnation to death (1431) took place in this building. You feel as though you are living her history as you are guided from room to room, and learn about her epic tale, as it is cleverly portrayed using state-of-the-art video and sound multimedia. Again, Milan demonstrated his attention to detail. One of us has a mobility impairment issue. Milan made sure to stay several steps ahead of us to ensure we had priority seating and easy access to the entry and exit doors at all times, and wherever possible he arranged for elevator transport. This allowed us to fully enjoy and appreciate this magnificent and rewarding presentation. Next, Milan took us to the historic and architecturally beautiful Place du Vieux-Marche of Rouen. This is the site where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. It is in the center of this old market place, and is surrounded by many medieval half-timber houses, as well as the modern Église Jeanne d’Arc. The striking architecture of this church conjures up a variety of symbols: Some see a dragon, others see the mouth of the Seine River where it enters the sea, and still others see a knight's helmet. To each his own! For us, the pièce de résistance for our visit to Rouen was just across the street from the Église Jeanne d’Arc, namely, La Couronne Restaurant. We chose to tour Rouen mainly because we wanted to have lunch at La Couronne, the restaurant where Julia Child (one of our personal heroes) had Fillet of Sole Meunière and fell in love with French food and cooking. The rest of course is history. It turns out this celebrated restaurant and inn was founded in 1345, and is the oldest such establishment in France. This was the fulfillment of our personal pilgrimage in honor of Julia Child. Stepping into this restaurant was like stepping into yesteryear. The old-fashioned papered walls were covered with framed pictures of many world-known celebrities who have enjoyed meals at this historic restaurant. This pictured décor reminded us of Sardi’s Restaurant in New York. Again, we were not disappointed. Milan made reservations to secure the appropriate time and table for this pilgrimage to honor the memory of our personal hero, Julia Child. The meal was an experience, and a definite highlight of this tour. After our sumptuous meal and a walk under the Gros Horloge, an astronomical clock dating back to 1389, making it one of the oldest such mechanisms in France, Milan arranged for us to visit L’ Aître Saint-Maclou, a 16-th century ossuary for victims of the plague. It was a fascinating albeit somewhat eerie and macabre experience. Overall, with this tour, Milan provided us with magnificent memories. As we mentioned before, we were extremely pleased with Milan’s tour, and we highly recommend it. In fact, we would recommend any of his other tours. As we are planning another trip to France and Paris soon (we can’t get enough!), we are currently considering taking his “The Rouen Armada” tour. This event hosts one of the largest gatherings of tall ships in the world, and runs for ten days: From June 8th to June 18th of this year. This will give us another excuse to have lunch at La Couronne. Also consider a customized multiple-day tour of Normandy (Giverny, Rouen, D Day, Mont Saint Michel). This is one of Milan’s most rewarding tours, and one we have enjoyed in the past. Milan’s expertise in tours in and around Paris has brought him much notoriety. Last Fall he was featured on NBC’s “The Today Show”. He shared the splendors of Paris with Hoda Kotb & Jenna Bush Hager. It is evident; Milan brings emotion, knowledge and passion to his tours!!
The best part of this tour was Milan, our host! Milan took care of all our travel arrangements to Rouen, even assisted us with travel arrangements to meet him in Paris. We were greeted with a big smile, energy and enthusiasm for sharing the day with us. He tailored the day based on our interests, and we experienced more than we had hoped for. His knowledge and love of sharing it made it a day to remember. Rouen itself is a great place to visit, beautiful, charming, steep in history and easy to navigate. We highly recommend this day trip if you like history and want a terrific experience.
A fabulous full day trip with my personal guide Milan. A medieval town worth visiting, made very enjoyable with Milan. He was very knowledgeable, humorous and thoughtful. We had a lovely time walking on the cobblestone streets, visiting the Joan of Arc museum , a tasty lunch in an old cemetery turned into a restaurant and afternoon tarts and hot chocolate at a delightful Cafe. The cathedral was an architectural marvel. Was really sad to head back to Paris after such a wonderful day.
We were taken to Rouen by our tour guide Milan. Milan is so knowledgeable of every place in France. He is fun to be with, never intrusive and fills you in on the sweetest details of every aspect of Life in France. Rouen was a quaint and incredibly historic town, filled with architecture that went from the very humble to the very extravagant. Cobblestone walkways, delightful shops and restaurants. We were impressed with the Joan of Arc, place of imprisonment, and her place of death, but we really enjoyed the film of her trial. After many pleasant hours touring this town we then embarked on a private chauffeured ride through the magnificent French countryside to Chamembert and William the Conqueror’s castle. We had asked our travel agent, Jamie, @jaimetravels.com to incorporate Rouen in our Fabulous trip to Paris and Normandy . Do not miss this adventure and do not go without Milan! ❤️🇫🇷
