On a scale of 1 to 5 I'd give Matthew a 6! He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about French cuisine and customs and history. I learned a lot and really enjoyed all the tastings. This was light years better than an afternoon food tour I took with a different company later in the week.
Matt was the most dedicated & knowledgeable tour guide ever! He showed us so many spots, explained about Paris’ history, treated us to the most mouthwatering meals & gave us an overall awesome experience!
The tour was enjoyable. The food was good and the tour guide was friendly.
So much food and so delicious! Our guide Matthew was so knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the walking, the food and I learned so much about Paris and French food and wine that I did not know. Would definitely do it again!
My family and I just returned from a fantastic food tour of Notre Dame/Latin Quarter in Paris. The food was delicious but what made it great was our incredible tour guide Zara. She shared interesting facts along the way about both the food and Paris itself and she has a lovely and engaging personality. I recommend Zara and the tour highly.
Olivia was authentically French and a delight
The tour guide, Matthew, was outstanding. He was probably the best tour guide I have ever had on any of my many tours, food or otherwise. He not only knew so much which he shared but went above and beyond to give us more than we paid for. We stopped at the Basilica de Notre Dame where Matthew took pictures of us against the Church as well as inform us of many facts. As we walked and he picked up the various foods, he gave info continuously, about the foods, the establishments where we obtained the food and the corresponding background info and history. When we went back to a room to finish sharing the rest of our food, he also brought out bottles of different wines. He kept asking if we wanted more food and/or drink. The tour was supposed to be 2-2 1/2 hours but it was 3. He should get a raise!
We thoroughly enjoyed Matthew's food tour through the Latin Quarter. He was knowledgeable and personable. We highly recommend this tour. Note: don't eat beforehand! Plenty of food on this tour.
Matthew was an amazing tour director. He provided insights into the culture, history, area, as well as the food. He made the tour fun and interesting. The food and beverages he chosen were delicious and paired well with each other. It truly was a taste of Paris.
Fabulous food tour with Matthew! He was a lot of fun and extremely knowledgeable! Everyone on our tour raved about him. I have done several food tours but this one was at the top,
Matthew made this tour fun and interesting. He was so easy going and provided much more than just food stops. His knowledge of the area and the food made us want to do another food tour today!
Good food experience, with a little Paris history and history of food tastes. Some cider and wine to drink.
We joined this tour as a family, expecting a classic walking food tour experience through authentic local dining spots. We were in Paris after all, with hundreds of options in the vicinity of Notre Dame. While our guide, Nana, was knowledgeable and engaging, the organization was disappointing. After only a few stops, we spent the rest of the evening in a rented former diner, eating pre-purchased food. We booked a food tour to discover the charm and atmosphere of the city’s dining scene, not to sit in a room with a group of people. It felt more like a catered event than an exploratory tour. I've been on many food tours before, and sadly, this one did not meet my expectations.
Olivia, our guide, was sweet and animated and just knew where to find the best croissants, macarons, cheese, crepes, quiche, baguettes, and dessert and wine. It was a lovely day learning about French food. Enjoyed meeting others from Alabama, California, and Germany. Just the right size of group. Fun experience. Come hungry.
Matt was great. His knowledge and delivery was exceptional. I knew he was awesome early on when someone asked a question and he said “ I don’t know “. Matt was friendly knowledgeable, and fun to be with !
The tour was educational, informative, fun, gourmet & a few surprises. I have been to Paris before and I saw some places not seen before. As a tourist, it's great to actually stop & go inside the "fooderies" instead of just looking through the windows or walking past. I did not take the Wine Package this time which suited me better. Thanks to our wonderful guide, Matthew, I had a fantastic experience!
Aramis was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the sights along the way. I was thankful she didn’t cancel the tour on this grey, cold and wet day. I enjoyed her company and the interesting information she shared with me. The food was very tasty too! I highly recommend this tour with Aramis!
The tour was great. Our guide, Duniya, was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable about Paris and had great recommendations.
Great experience with Ingrid showing us around and introducing us to French cuisine! Such a good time learning and tasting
Highly recommend this tour! Excellent value for money with a range of amazing sweet treats from the classic to the unexpected. The tour guide is lovely and friendly and provided a fascinating insight into the history of Paris and the history of many of the foods and shops. Bring your appetites and sensible shoes because there is a lot to see and eat.
Great meal and wine! Awesome company! I wish there were more explanation of the area we visited (eg St Germaine area). Would consider going again!
Well really- where do I start. We loved our time with Stephane, our guide who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He was able to enlighten us on French customs of which we should be aware. His knowledge of the history of the area and Paris in general was impressive as he explained how this old area grew and changed over the years and the reasons behind the changes. Stephane was particularly passionate about explaining the importance of food in French culture and how to choose the very best produce We went to a number of specialty shops and tasted the exquisite produce they were famous for. We eventually ended up in a Basque restaurant where Stephane unpacked the items he had collected along the way . We all sat and enjoyed the food , explanations and accompanying wine as well as some special dishes prepared at the restaurant. There was also a delicious secret dessert. Don’t plan to rush off at the designated end time. This tour went above beyond our expectations and we felt like we were sharing a meal with old friends. Come with an open mind and heart. Thank you Stephane for a memorable tour - We take away some learning and memories of a wonderful time in your beautiful city.
The tour was very informative, with a smooth flow of information that never felt overwhelming. It lasted four hours, and our guide, Aramis, was extremely accommodating. She handled everything with professionalism and friendliness, always showing proper etiquette while also sharing fun facts about Parisian culture and history. We received practical tips that were useful both as tourists and for getting around the city. The pace of the tour was natural, never rushed, and the food selection was excellent—authentic and truly representative of Paris. We enjoyed it so much that we’re already planning to join more Secret Food Tours with her. Aramis is young, full of energy, and speaks excellent English.
We joined the 5pm Saint-Germain tour and it was absolutely fantastic. Our guide,Duniya , was outstanding – her knowledge of Paris, French culture, and the origins of the food made every stop memorable. We visited a variety of wonderful places, each with its own charm, and the evening finished perfectly as we came together for a shared feast with plenty of wine. It was great fun, full of laughter, and thoroughly enjoyed by both myself and my husband A highlight of our time in Paris!
Spent an absolutely delightful day with Stephane touring Saint Germain. We sampled caramels and macarons while collecting bread and cheeses, which we consumed at the adorable Basque-cuisine restaurant Osaba. We had a terrific group, laughed a lot, and learned a ton about Paris, its culinary history, and all sorts of other fun facts from the charming and funny Stephane. Would take another tour with him if we had the opportunity.
The only thing I would recommend on this tour, don't do the 5pm tour. We had a blast but a lot of the shops were closing. It was still so much fun. Learning the history, trying tasty treats. Stephane was a perfect tour guide. I loved that we ended with a meal all together where Stephane shared more history with us. Was one of the best food tours we've done.
We won this food, wine and bread tour through my wife job. We are Parisians, gourmets and gourmands, and we were curious but were really astonished by the pleasure we had tasting excellent food and all the anecdotes we learnt about French food ! The guide, Stephane, was lovely and entertaining. A really nice time , fun and tasty, worth every penny,
Great tour! Aramis was a great guide! Would recommend. Very friendly and engaged the group. Food was good! More for company, a coffee option would be cool to include!
Aramis was amazing! The food was delicious, and she was very knowledgeable throughout the tour! Very friendly! Would recommend.
It was fantastic and Stephan was delightful and so full of knowledge. I became a little French on this tour. The food was fantastic!
Sally Mokrane did an amazing job showing us around the city and gave wonderful insight on the culture and food in Paris. She was very intelligent and knew what she was talking about.
Sally Mokrane is amazing, we really enjoyed her tour!! Would 100% recommend. We got to try a bunch of tasty things and learn a bit about Paris!
Duniya was a fantastic guide. She not only shared insights into the French food culture but she also added interesting French history as it pertained to Saint Germaine and French food. I would highly recommend Duniya and this particular food tour.
Matthew has been a wealth of information and very personable. I would give him 6 stars if I could! I learned and ate while fully enjoying myself.
Achraf Kouiry was a fabulous tour guide! Very knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent food and wine! Request him, you will not regret it!
Our tour was great. Etienne answered all our questions and was very engaged. A great experience that provided many different food options.
We had the very best time! Aure was our guide, and she was lovely, knowledgeable, and funny. She kept us in good spirits despite the rainy weather. But as she said, Paris is beautiful in the rain! We stopped at some incredible shops and were able to sample wonderful treats. And, we gathered cheeses and breads and desserts to round out our absolutely delicious lunch. And the wine! So much fun to spent the morning with Aure and learn more about my favorite city and hers!
This Food Tour was amazing. Delicious food, wonderful wines, and Stephane is a highly knowledgeable, funny host. Extremely enjoyable and highly recommended!
We had a fabulous evening with Stephane who not only taught us about French food and customs but so much about the city of Paris and French culture. All the foods we tried were fantastic and it was more than enough for an evening meal. There was also delicious wine. We had a great group with a family from the Netherlands and it was a real highlight of our trip. We would recommend this tour to anyone!
Luisa was friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to answer any and all questions. She was an amazing tour guide! Her secret and local suggestions were great!
Very informational tour and plenty of food and wine. Learned some good intel - eg. Twist the baguette, don’t pull it; don’t put bread upside down; and the intro to basque food and wine was very unique and tasty. But we would have preferred a tour focused more on Parisian specialties that we would come across during our vacation.
This was a delightful tour and our guide was terrific. He was knowledgeable and a good story teller. I recommend this tour.
We took the Notre Dame walking tour with Luisa and she was fantastic!! We had a wonderful time. She was knowledgeable and fun and very informative. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic Notre Dame tour!! Luisa facilitated a food tour with a perfect balance of food tasting and history about the area. She was very positive and ensured everyone stayed on track so that no time was loss. She was also very knowledgeable about the history of France and was able to explain how it changed the food into something we know and love today. Not to mentioned, she encouraged discussion between the tour group, so even a solo traveler like me didn’t feel left out. For the tour itself, there was a wide range of flavors—from sour to sweet and everyone found something they enjoyed (if not everything). Thank you Luisa and Secret Food Tours!
My husband, parents, and I took Stéphane's food tour around St. Germain last week. He was an outstanding tour guide, telling us the history behind the food we were trying, and teaching us about French food culture along the way. We tried salted caramels, pâte de fruits, macarons, foie gras, two types of bread beyond a regular baguette, a multitude of French cheeses and charcuterie, plus a full meal at a Basque restaurant. I loved trying Basque food for the first time, and it was delicious! We also enjoyed a wonderful dessert and wine with our meal. Stéphane answered all of our questions, even our awkward ones and offered a balanced view on the topics we brought up. He even stayed well past our tour end time to keep talking to us.
Leo was a great tour guide with knowledge of food, culture, and histor. It was a perfect mix of walking, food sampling, and several courses at lunch with great explanations and conversations.
Nana was an EXCELLENT guide with deep knowledge of the neighborhood and the best kept gems for fantastic food. Although we lived in this same neighborhood many years ago, Nana took us to new establishments with which we weren’t familiar and let us see our old haunts in a fresh light. Highly recommended, especially if you’re lucky enough to get Nana as your guide.
My husband and I did the St. Germain Secret Food Tour a couple of days ago, and we both had a wonderful experience. Marie was our host, and she was extremely knowledgeable and eager to ensure our whole group had a great afternoon. The quality of the food provided was superior, and the quantities were plentiful. You will NOT leave this tour hungry. There is plenty of food and generous glasses of wine. All in all, a great a great way to experience some traditional food and meet other people in the beautiful neighbourhood of St. Germain. Highly recommended.
The tour was fabulous, our guide Stephane was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. We learnt more than expected. We would recommend this tour!
