We enjoyed the tour and appreciated the stories and sights! This was our first time using the voice map app and we found it easy to use and will be looking for other tours through Viator/voice map future trips!

Itinerary
This self-guided audio tour takes place in Montmartre.
You briefly stop in front of an art piece called "Mur des je t'aime" which literally means Wall of I Love Yous but is generally called Wall of Love in English and was created in 2000 by Frederic Baron and Claire Kito. The tiles represent 311 ways to say "I love you" in 250 languages.
There are written records of this church dating back to the year 885 which makes this one of the oldest Christian sites in Paris.
Visit the workshop where Picasso lived between 1904 and 1909, where Modigliani also lived and worked here. So did Renoir, Juan Gris, Max Jacob, le Douanier Rousseau, and many others who are not as famous today.
The tour passes through place Émile-Goudeau.
The tour passes by Picasso First Studio.
The tour passes by La maison de Dalida.
This beautiful windmill is one of only 2 left in Montmartre and specialized in grinding wheat. It has also been a restaurant for a long time. Famous artists like Renoir, Van Gogh, and Pissaro frequented this restaurant and painted it, turning it into an icon of Montmartre. Renoir's Bal au Moulin de la Galette doesn't show the windmill, only the party that takes place behind this famous facade. Van Gogh painted several versions of this windmill because his brother Theo lived nearby and he knew the area well.
The tour passes by Le Passe-Muraille.
The tour passes by the Statue of Saint-Denis.
The tour goes down Rue de l'Abreuvoir.
The second pink house where it says "Maison Rose" was made famous by a local painter named Utrillo, making it one of the most iconic scenes of Montmartre. Then it was bought by someone who was friends with famous singers and so they often patronized it. Singers like Edith Piaf, Aznavour and Jacques Brel came here frequently. Before them author Albert Camus was also a fan.
Paris used to have a lot of vineyards, this is one of the few that's left. It is so small that one person can take care of the whole thing, and keep it pretty for all the visitors, tour guides, the mayor, TV crews, etc.
The Lapin Agile first opened as a cabaret and drinking establishment in 1795. At first it was named "Rendez-vous of Thieves", then "Cabaret of the Assassins" before caricaturist André Gill was commissioned to create a new look for the place in 1880 and he came up with the rabbit drawing.
The tour passes by Place du Tertre.
The restaurant is a classic here in Montmartre. It's name means simple and without ceremony. There has been a restaurant here since the 1500s, it has been rebuilt and renamed many times. May painters and poets came here for a drink and a meal. Degas, Renoir, Monet, Cézanne, Sisley, Toulouse-Lautrec, all patronized this restaurant. In 1886 Van Gogh painted his famous La Guinguette à Montmartre here.
The tour passes by the 2nd Statue du Chevalier de la Barre.
The tour ends with a peep inside the Basilica Sacre Coeur.

This covers a lot of fluff that is inconsequential. By the time you get to the main landmarks you've spent a lot of time walking around and are tired
Fabulous tour of Montmartre! Annie’s tour will take you to the well known spots and the hidden gems. It was such a great way to explore the neighborhood for the first time. The stories and historical context were both informative and entertaining. If we hadn't done this tour, we would have missed out on a lot of interesting history. You will love listening to Annie, her voice is a pleasure to listen to. My husband and I shared a pair of earbuds and listened through my iPhone. Very easy to follow along, and you can pause the audio whenever you need to. Directions are easy to follow. I cannot recommend this tour enough!! We loved it.
We had an amazing experience with Annie’s v }>:L oice-guided tour of Montmartre in Paris. The narration was engaging, easy to follow, and brought the neighborhood’s history and hidden gems to life in a way we would have completely missed on our own. It felt like having a knowledgeable local guide with us the entire time. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore Montmartre at their own pace while still getting a rich, informative experience!
This is a terrific way to see Montmartre and have the pleasure of Annie in our ear guiding us through those amazing sites. She is very clear in her directions, informative, knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. The start point was easy to locate and each point of interest flowed from site to site. We set the pace, were able to rewind or stop the audio feed if necessary and the built in gps kept us on track. Sharing a set of earbuds, my husband and I were able to listen to the commentary together. It felt like a private tour. Thank you Annie. Your audio guide, Montmartre is 5/5 and highly recommended.
Montmartre! Such a fun place to wander in Paris. But in just wandering you would miss so much, so I am so glad that I had this tour. Voicemap tours are such a great way to learn more about what you are seeing without breaking the bank for a personal tour. You have flexibility in stopping and starting and I listened to them before going to have a little preview. I love the Join Us in France podcast, facebook group and Annie is a wealth of knowledge. I just bought one of her new ones for my next trip.
Annie’s tours are well crafted, informative and easy to follow. Her instructions are precise and the content is enjoyable to listen to. It’s apparent she puts a lot of thought into her presentation. Voice maps makes it easy to start, stop or wander and then get back on track. Make sure your devices are charged or bring a battery pack.
I Enjoyed listening to the tour before going to get a better feel and the when onsite everything went smoothly definitely worth the cost.
This is the third of Annie’s VoiceMap tours we’ve done. We love the flexibility, the descriptions and the insider tips
I really enjoyed this audio guide tour because it felt like I had someone with me, guiding me along the way. I never felt alone and I never felt lost or unsure about where to go. All the descriptions were beautiful and the way the lady added humor made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
So easy! The best way to tour an area. At your own pace. You can even speed up the recording to make it go quicker. Easy to use… recognizes your location. Commentator was pleasant to listen to.
While quite a lot of walking in a hilly neighborhood, the tour shows you all of the sights and provides background information that really adds to the experience. If you walk slowly and stop frequently to enjoy the experience (such as street music or a drink at a cafe) this tour will take at least 4 hours. Well worth the time and effort.
This self-guided audio tour was fantastic and a great value! The instructions given for downloading the appropriate app was clear, support information was provided, the walking instructions were clear, and the history given about the area was fabulous. If you sit too long at one place, it will indicate that you may be lost which I found wonderful. And about 3/4 of the way into the 2-hour tour, it reminds you to check your phone battery. You can stop and start the audio as often as you like. We loved it!
This walking tour is fabulous. There is lots of history, great directions, warnings about possibly being lost, and warnings about possible low battery. You can start and stop it at your own pace. We had no problems with VoiceApp and the directions for accessing the tour were easy. One of the best tours ever!
Tour is great - very informative. There is a bit of uphill walking involved, so if you’re doing another walking tour same day - perhaps this one will be better on a different day (especially if you are with kids).
DO NOT DO IT. Impossible to do with all the stairs and the using of the battery for the phone you need to be Olympian to do this
The GPS allowed the tour to track our progress and the tour guide talked about exactly where we were. It was amazing. We wandered off and a man came on to gently redirect us. The anecdotes she told were informative and so interesting. The self pacing was such a pleasure. We saw other tours where members were struggling to hear their guide and to keep up. We absolutely loved this method of touring Montmartre and will seek out other tours on this app in our future travels.
This was a waste of money. We couldn't get this audio tour to work properly. It would start talking and we couldnt pause it. The app would crash and we couldnt resume from where we left off. It says it will automatically speak when you get to the locations but it didn't. After the 2nd stop it didn't speak at all. Disappointing so we gave up on trying to get it to work and we just ended up wandering around on our own.
This was great. Directions were accurate, lots of interesting info, great stories too. Thanks so much!
The GPS locations were always off and the guide could have pronounced the names of the streets with a bit less French accent in order to be understood on an English based audio..
We really enjoyed our tour and definitely learned things we never would have learned. The only problem was it wasn’t always clear where to go. Also it would tell us to go into a church and it would resume when we were finished but then while in the chuch, the app would think we we lost.
After a short time I learned how to use the app. It's very interesting to follow the audio tour at my own pace. I wish the descriptions were more simple with lesser literature words and expressions. I enjoyed taking the tour two times. Navigation and usability was very practical.
This was the perfect tour for me. I didn’t want to engage with a group of strangers and wanted to walk the Montmartre area at my own pace. The stops were interesting, the tour guide was easy to listen to and easy to understand. I will definitely do more tours with this company.
The directions to the meeting place were very confusing, I should have just used my mapping app. The personal locator light sort often did not accurately reflect where we actually were, it might be of on an adjacent street.
While this app had lots of information for each spot through Montmartre, it needs improvement. The places I wanted to see the most were the homes/studios of famous artists such as Picasso, Renoir and Van Gogh, Basilica of the Sacre Coeur, the and at the top of my list was the artists square. However, the app took us from the bottom without giving us a choice to pick what we really wanted to see. By the time we got to the Sacre Coeur everything was closing, we were tired and cranky and missed the whole artists square (which was the main place I wanted to see in Paris). The app needs improvement perhaps giving a list of spots to choose from before beginning so it can be more personalized. It was our last day so I couldn’t come back the next day to see the rest of Montmatre which was my dream to go see, my reason for coming to Paris, and so I’m very disappointed. I’m from the states, so I would I have to plan an entire new trip to Paris to see artists square. This was my birthday / graduation gift to myself and I don’t know when I can afford to go back. So again, the app needs more personalization improvement.
A fabulous way to explore the area at your own pace. Perfect for solo travellers. The instructions were easy to follow and the audio was very informative, interesting and well paced. Great that you could go back and listen again to refresh your memory. Highly recommend and I look forward to doing more self-guided audio tours.
Super guide and easy to use! It gave us the luxury of touring at our own pace and at the same time very informative.
I liked hearing the stories about the people that lived in the area. Best part was the man that walked through walls and about the windmill, the paintings... history attached to it. Also, about the movie Amelie and the connection.
It was easy to use, accurate, informative, entertaining and excellent value for money. I will always consider using this guiding in the future.
We really enjoyed this audio tour. It was nice to be able to go at your own pace and stop off when you wanted unlike guided tours. It was also great to be able to do it when you want bs a scheduled tour!
I couldn't get the tour. Every confirmation number I was given didn't work. They used a third party and the two were not transferring the information.
A lot of backtracking in the tour. But the content was entertaining and good. Just hard to navigate where it was telling you to go next.
Beautiful self guided tour that takes you off the beaten path of the tourist traps (just a brief walk though them). We could not believe how well done this was. So reasonably priced and a must do to learn about montmartre while walking through!
Exceptional views and a great experience. We would do this again. Thanks for making this easy to experience.
Highly recommend! I had a great time exploring Montmarte listening to this tour and going at my own pace! Great details and stories of so many special places that I would have never known or just missed by just walking through the streets without listening to the guide!
We enjoyed listening to the narrator on this well planned tour. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who would like to explore Montmartre at their own pace.
Easy to follow navigation and great narration. Loved being able to explore this lovely area of Paris at our own pace and with a knowledgable guide. The information was informative and entertaining — highly recommend this tour.
The tour was easy to follow, informative and insightful. I'm sure that I would have passed by 90% of the hidden gems the guide pointed out. The stories were also fun. Highly recommended.
Great audio tour!! Nice voice, easy to stop and love the reminder when you get off track . It took me to all the special spots of montrmatre
Loved this self guided audio tour. It was easy to download, easy to follow. The narrator was easy to understand and she made the tour fun and interesting. This was a great experience. Much better than having to walk in a group tour. I hate those! Please keep making more!
Going to the churches, vineyard, and La Mason Rose, Picasso home. Tour guide was awesome! Her directions were very easy to follow. She spoke slow and clearly.
A fun (and cheap!) little way to explore the area. I learnt so much that I would never have known if I just walked through without any guide. Super cool!
Our guide was funny and interesting, and doing this walk at our own pace was perfect for us. We stopped several times along the way to eat and take pictures and shop, then picked up the tour again when it suited us. We spent all day wandering around, but we didn’t miss any major sites and we learned a ton. I’m going to do this kind of tour again!
Man who walked through walls. Sometimes I would get lost. Would be better if more pictures popped up of the tour so you know what you are suppose to be looking at. Otherwise great tour
