Itinerary
The middle age jewel, one of the most impressive site in the world
A spectacular view on the bay with the Mont island in the middle
Your guide will lead you up narrow paths to the top of the tiny village for incredible Atlantic views, while revealing its fascinating history. Retrace the steps of pilgrims of the Middle Ages to discover the famous Benedictine abbey - legend has it, the Archangel Michael appeared here to the bishop of Avranches. Hear about the extreme tides surrounding the island, giving it a fairytale feel
The Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is a stunning medieval monastery perched atop a rocky island off the coast of Mont-Saint-Michel in northern France. Founded in the 8th century, it became an important pilgrimage site and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Rising dramatically above the surrounding tidal flats, the abbey offers breathtaking views and is one of France’s most iconic landmarks. Today, it is a Mont-Saint-Michel UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting visitors from around the world for its history, architecture, and unique island setting. Enjoy this visit on your own !

This is a 14 hour day including 10 hours in a tight bus, then a shuttle bus to the Abby. So you have 2-3 hours to spend at the Abby.
The tour was well planned. We booked the tour guided one. Our tour guide guided us through the abbey and explained to us the history behind it. We returned back to Paris by 9:15 pm We stopped at a gas station for a break on our way to and from the abbey.
This tour is a combination of tourist paid for guided tour and tourist didn’t want a guide . The tour has many people on the double deck bus and this company had at lease 2bus on this route . Comfort stop for bathroom has very long lines
The tour guide doesn’t speak English well and I just don’t understand her. I talked to other people on the group, they felt the same
Really really happy for having Marie as a guide, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, very pleasant tour
Marie was very a informative guide.
Wonderful experience but be prepared for a long bus trip. The drive was comfortable. Best burgers at Mont Burger!
Mount Saint Michel is a long drive from Paris and our Guide provided little information about the history of France and Mount Saint Michel during the long drive. She managed logistics well, but that was about it. Compared to other Viator Tours, this tour and Guide were a disappointment.
The walking tour & path was wonderful. It a must see adventure in the lifetime. It was the 8+ hours round trips drive from Paris to Mont St. Michel but it was worth the trip.
Come energized in comfortable shoes, with a raincoat. The history is fascinating, the structure is grand, the views from the top are inspirational.
Had a great time. thanks to khalid and crystal.
The drive thru the French countryside was fantastic.
Our guide was very good actually and very helpful but the 2 star rating is for the bus. For a 4 hour long trip and decide not to open the restroom for the passengers is not acceptable! Even though the bus stops midway, people may still need to use the bathroom especially the elderly and people with conditions. And upon returning to Paris, the airconditioning broke down. The upper deck of the bus was so hot we were almost suffocating due to the heat.
It is nearly 5 hours going and 4 1/2 hours returning to Paris and only 3 hours on the Mont. But oh so worth the trip. The Abbey is amazing, I would have even gotten up a 1/2 hour earlier to get an extra 1/2 hour there.
It was great, well organized according to the instructions of the reservation
Definitely go with a tour guide so you hear about the history and the secrets of Mount Saint Michel.
Alex was an incredible host - switching seamlessly between French, Spanish, and English for the group - it was quite impressive! Loved the guided tour of the island - it was well done and the time allocated was great. The trip then also allowed a fair amount of time to explore on your own - have a meal, do some shopping, or just take in the sites of this medieval gem. You should be in good health and shape to do the full tour as lots of climbing inclines and stairs to the top, but well worth it if you’re able! It is a long trip from Paris and the bus quarters are really tight - hardly any leg room and you get to know your neighbors well. If anything could be improved - that was it. Four hours each way of not having much space to move was tough.
Steve was an excellent Tour Guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive to all travelers! Thank you!!
Great guided tour to a stunning landmark! We were in Paris for 6 days and decided to use one to take a day trip. So glad we picked this one. The trip there is on the longish side for a day trip (4-4.5 hours each way) but our guide kept us informed at several points throughout the drive by teaching us about the history and traditions of the area. Definitely recommend!
Our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable, organized and enjoyable to be with. Lots of history and beauty. Was a good tour!
Great experience. Bus time is long both ways but coach is comfortable. Guided tour was worthwhile. Highly recommend.
Great experience. Very knowledgeable and well experienced guide. Beautiful to see and explore the site
A long day down and back to the Abby - 8hrs on a bus. 4hrs at the Abbey. Be prepared for the 300 steps up to the top. If you’re not very fit it might not be for you. The paths are narrow and steep and there’s so many people - some with dogs and there’s kids everywhere too in front of you and behind. After an hour I felt like one of the prisoners they use to hold there.. wanting to escape! There’s 2 or 3 shuttle buses that hold about 70 people and a line of about 600 trying to get on in the rain. It’s another classic example of go once and never again!
Great experience and worth visiting this long awaited heritage spot from my wishlist! Awesome views, nice weather, scrumptious food, lovely souvenirs and comfortable ride, what else could I have expected from this trip!!
I realize the conditions make this experience challenging - namely the long drive and the short time on the island. For those who cannot see msm any other way because of logistics, but are interested, I would definitely recommend this trip but make sure to go with the guided option unless you are familiar with what you are looking for in the abbey. For me it was the guide’s stories that let me enjoy my time there, needing only an hour to cover it all. She was very knowledgeable about the subject. The only suggestion I have for the operators is when getting off the shuttle I lost the guide briefly in the crowds not knowing if I should wait or rush forward, so anything that could be done to make sure people can find the guide after the shuttle would be great
Mont Saint Michel is breath taking! Such a wonder and beauty. It was even better to see in person. It was a bucket list dream for me which did not disappoint. It is worth the long trip in the bus. Amelia is a wonderful guide. She is so full of knowledge and is very engaging. I learnt so much about the history of Normandy and Mont Saint Michel from her. The guided tour is a must! It is so worth it. Amelia walks you through every part of Mont Saint Michel and explains all the different rooms and the history which I found so helpful. Amelia makes the day run seamlessly.
It was a long day, but worth the day trip, especially with the driver and the tour guide Marissa. Very professional very efficient and very well informed. Thought I really got the feel for the place with the knowledge.
St Michel is an amazing place and our guide did a wonderful job. I recommend this tour with the caveat that you should be prepared for a long bus ride. If traffic is good, it’s 4 hours each way with a bathroom break in the middle. (Bring a book). Our home trip lasted 5 hours because a stretch of the highway was closed. It’s not a trip I would do again, but we’re glad we did it once.
Book with VIATOR Wonderful company. On line is easy to use, information was instantly. Highly recommend especially when it concerns large trips you organise. You don’t need any extra trouble.
Long drive to the destination with limited time while there. Mont st Michel is stunning. The guide could have been clearer in her diction, it was challenging to comprehend at times. However, she addressed all our questions patiently.
Convenient way to travel to Mont St Michel from Paris. Our hotel is just a few hundred feet from the pick-up and drop off point.
Tour guide and St Mt Michel were spectacular even with gloomy weather! Thank you so much for your patience hospitality and knowledge!
Very smooth with 1 exception that I will speak on at the end. Meeting point was easy to get to and departure was prompt. Half way to and from the abbey we had a 1/2 hour pit stop. The onboard guide was helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Mont Saint Michel has a fairytale appearance. The views are increadible of the area and from the abbey, worth the trip. The 1 issue was mis behaving children. It is a 4 1/2 hour drive there and the same back, a 14 hour day. No place for small children, ill mannered children, or parents that won't deal with their children. This trip and any others like it should have a minimum age of 10, no exceptions and spell it out in the booking. It makes for an even longer and more tiresome ride.
Glad to have booked a guided tour so we didn't get lost. However, more time than 4 hours is needed to explore the site. With the time for the guided portion and lunch, barely an hour and half was left to go around on our own. It took a while to wait in queue for the shuttle because there were many school kids there on field trips.
It was a fabulous experience however I paid for a guided tour and the audio boxes did not work so I wasn’t able to get as much backstory as I had hoped.
We did the Mont Saint-Michel day trip from Paris and everything ran super smoothly! The tour guide was very clear with the information and the organisation was great. Even though this is a bit of a long day, it’s completely worth it!! What an AMAZING location.
It’s a very long drive from Paris but oh so worth it! Be prepared for the 250!steps up to the Abbey but it is an amazing experience.
Excellent tour guide although the upper bus ceiling was way too low and the seats a little cramped. Meeting place was up the road from the designated spot and no-one came to advise or check if anyone was there! Would have loved an extra ½ hour on the island, and an extra 5-10 mins at the roads stops, but then it becomes a 15 hour day. Still would have gone. Otherwise an excellent experience, and very worth while.
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Easy and comfortable bus ride to the Mont, but NOT for anyone who cannot walk many steps. Guide was superb and very knowledgeable.
Amazing and worthwhile trip, Christelle was pleasant and explained the interesting history about the region very well.
This was a spectacular tour. Alex was an amazing tour guide and she gave us so much information while we were in Mont-Saint Michel. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour from the moment we got off the bus to we got back on the bus.
Our guide Manuela was amazing ! The trip is sooooo worth it . Yes it’s long but worth it and Manuela made it all so easy ! We loved it
Recommend! Very interesting, not exhausting, everything fitted in one day easily, had time to rest on the way there and back. Our tour guide, Manuella was very knowledgeable, caring, she answered all our questions about food and history, no one from our group was lost. Definitely must do if you have time.
The location is spectacular, and one of a kind. The shops were friendly and the restaurants accommodating. Be aware of the long ride from Paris, but the destination is worth the ride.
The bus was very modern and comfortable even though it was full. The journey of 4.5 hours was smooth with just one stop. The access to the site was easy and our tour guide Alex was amazing. She had fantastic knowledge of the history and architecture and moved at the perfect pace also leaving us time to explore after.
Great experience! Our guide- Crystal was awesome. Mont St. Michel was incredible place to visit. I totally recommend this tour.
Claire the guide was excellent. Make no mistake, it is a long day with a 4hr bus trip both there and back from Paris. But we felt it was well worth it. After visiting the abbey, there is plenty of time to eat/shop/walk around before catching the shuttle back to the bus.
Honestly the tour itself was awesome - tour guide was my highlight - I just would not recommend doing 2x 4hr trips just to visit Mont Saint Michel - the whole day was spent on the bus essentially, which if you have a lot of time in Paris, I guess that is not so bad but maybe pair this with a night stay in Normandy and visit another site if possible.
I thought i booked an English tour, but it was English and Spanish which was hard hearing over and over The tour guide, did her thing, but there was no real leading of a group and by the end, out of 24 people may be 7-8 were left in the group. Very disorganized, felt like I deserved a refund, i wonder what those people who left felt?
