This is one of the best wine tastings I have ever attended. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and had a wonderful sense of humor. There were 17 in the whole group, and everyone had a wonderful time. We talked among each other. The wine was absolutely delicious. The cheese was wonderful. Couldn’t think of a more wonderful place to learn about wine.
We had a fabulous time learning about wine with the owner of the Secret Door, Erwan. There were 13 people in our “class” which made the small space packed. Erwan is delightful and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about French wine which was helpful for buying wine while in Paris. It’s a different wine world in France and he prepared us! I highly recommended this lesson!
From beginning to end this was a wonderful experience. Having little knowledge of wine other than enjoying it, I learned quite a bit about French wine. The pairings with cheese made the event even better. I highly recommend this tasting event for anyone in Paris looking to have fun and learn a little about French wine.
What a fun afternoon! We found the secret door right next to the Le Butter shop in the 15th arrondissement. When we arrived, we were greeted by Erwan at the front door. He was knowledgeable & friendly and the wine and cheese were delicious. The 2 hour class just flew by! It’s a must when visiting Paris. And don’t forget to visit the butter shop too!
Wow—what an experience at Secret Wine Door! We learned so much about the different wine regions of France, how to properly order wine at restaurants, and so many little things we never would have known on our own. The owner’s knowledge was incredible, but what really made it special was how much fun he made the entire experience. We learned, laughed, and drank some great wine along the way. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Paris!

One of the best experiences I’ve had for a wine tasting. I got To taste 6 very different wines and cheeses that opened my eyes to new flavor profiles. There is an art to drinking wine and actually enjoying all the flavors.

Our host, Erewon, was gracious and kind and welcoming. We had a range of people who had from no knowledge to winery experts from Napa in the event and he accommodated everyone, answering questions and keeping the air lively and open. I love that we could experience the wine and cheese pairings (with guidance about what to pay attention to) as they came to us, without the pretentious attitude I’ve sometimes seen around wine tastings.

The sommelier was very knowledgeable, nice, accommodating, and personable. The wine pours were generous as was the cheese and French bread. My daughter and I really enjoyed it, had a great time, and would definitely recommend it to someone with no knowledge of wine to someone with a lot of knowledge.

Very good wines and cheeses on the menu. The owner had extensive knowledge about wines and cheeses and the pairing of them. The patrons were a pleasant company as well, even if quite a few of them were US citizens.

I’d especially recommend doing this early in your trip, it completely changed how I approached ordering wine for the rest of my time here and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Being a novice to French wine, but not wine in general, this a nice introduction and fun as well. Erwan does a great job of explaining the basics for wine drinkers of every level while making it entertaining and not pedantic. The cheeses was amazing as well! It is also very close to the Eiffel Tower so plan to buy a bottle wine and some cheese and head over there afterward.
This was a wonderful 2 hours, beautiful wines, lovely cheeses and a fantastic host. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Paris. When my son comes of age we will definitely bring him here.

The host was well versed in the various wines and how well it was paired with various cheeses. If you are unfamiliar with French wines and some of the cheese offerings of the various regions, it is a great introduction.

While I must admit I’m not normally much of a wine guy, I would tell anyone I know they would have to do this tasting if they were visiting Paris. The atmosphere was amazing and friendly, the wine was some of the best I’d ever had, and the cheeses were exquisite and really brought out the flavors in the wine.

Erwan is down to earth, knowledgeable and provided great tips not only about the French wines but wine handling, storing etc in a small intimate space. What a time we had! I would 100% recommend this wine & cheese tasting whilst in Paris. The wine selected for us were so good and also the cheese was a great touch. This didn’t feel like a classroom or formal learning activity it was very casual and done perfectly.

We had an awesome wine and cheese tasting with Ewan at Secret Wine Door, along with about a dozen others whose wine experience ranged from almost nil to expert. It was fun and informative without feeling like “school”. Ewan was engaging and helpful, including before the tasting when he fit in one more of us, even though the tasting was marked as full. Learned a lot about wine and cheese, and a bit about Paris culture (buying bread 4 times a day; what!?!), and had a great time doing it. Highly recommended.

It was a phenomenal experience!! Loved it all. Erwin, the host, was funny and fun and welcoming and so very knowledgeable. I can’t eat unpasteurized cheese so he called his wife to go to cheese store to get me cheese I can eat. She arrived in minutes. They both went over and above. So thoughtful and wonderful of him.
