Colin de Rivas was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and an excellent driver. He took the time to explain many other interesting sites throughout the route, including an applefarm. It was above our expectations! We truly recommend it 👌

Victor was the best guide I have ever had the best
We would recommend this tour again and again. We travelled with Colin de Rivas from Finding France. He was very knowledgeable about the area including the history and the significance of the area. He is a history buff that enjoys taking his travelers on a tour where they learn things and makes it very memorable.
Very friendly tourguide. We enjoyed it a lot!
What a great tour with Colin! Our group was ages 10-80 and he was able to keep all of us engaged and interested. Even those that had been there twice learned something this third time around. The trip is about 3 hours one way from Paris (which we knew) but it went by quickly and was the perfect time to rest before a full day. We visited Omaha, Pointe du Hoc, and the American Cemetery and museum as well as a 4th generation calvados maker and lunch. It was a long day, but worth it on every level.
We had the best day! We had a family of 5 adults on the tour - my dad is a huge WW2 buff - the rest of us were just along for the ride, but we all had the best day. We learned a ton, and it was overall very enjoyable. Our tour guide Colin was AWESOME- very accommodating and informative. My dad was so happy with the day - and myself and the rest of the family really loved the tour and found it very informative. We also really wanted to get seafood at a local place and Colin took us to the best place! He had sent a what’s app the night before confirming all details and he was there at Hotel du Louvre right at 7am on our tour date! Long trip to and from Paris but Colin made it great!
Although pricey, we felt this tour was well worth it. My husband was a World War II buff and this trip was on our bucket list. Our guide, Colin de Rivas, was excellent. He had gone out of his way to research old pictures of the bunkers and D Day beaches to show us what it looked like back in 1944. The American Cemetery was especially moving because it was so huge. Colin made sure we enjoyed ourselves on the tour and was very kind in that he did not rush us through any experience.
Colin was an attentive and thoughtful guide. He made sure I was comfortable throughout the journey. Most importantly, he was quite knowledgeable of the Normandy invasion and went the extra distance to explain with the use of photos he stored in his iPad, the invasion. What was remarkable, was his effort at trying to show exactly what point or place was the actual photo taken during the invasion. We managed to climb into the bunkers before the crowds converged and he showed me several bunkers that other visitors were not normally led to. I am thankful and will recommend him to anyone for the Normandy excursion
The whole experience is informative and humbling. The cemetery and the movie they play will bring tears to your eyes bringing home the sacrifices these, and all our soldiers make for our freedom. Our guide Colin was amazing. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and he was patient while we took photographs. This trip was on my husband’s bucket list but I wasn’t sure I wanted to go but I’m very glad I did. I learned so much, saw such beauty and sadness at the same time in the cemetery. We actually went into German bunkers, one that still had a cannon in it. It brought history to life.
Incredible private day tour of Normandy with Colin. Highly recommend the tour and him as your guide! He customized the day for us and was so knowledgeable of all WW2 history. Big thanks to him for making our trip and tour so memorable. Excellent guide and experience!
Colin was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I would highly recommend requesting him for a private tour. 10/10.
Absolutely amazing guide Colin was very informative. It was an excellent tour of Normandy. It was an all day tour but didn’t feel like it at all!
My wife and I spent 2.5 days with Colin from Finding France. We stayed in Honfleur and went for a full day to Normandy Beaches and then to Mont. Saint Michel for another full day. Words cannot do justice to Colin's professionalism, superb knowledge about WW 11 and the evolution and description of Mont. Saint Michel. Further, his demeanor with us as a guide could not have been better and more professional. We would always work with him in the future whenever visiting Paris.
Louis was excellent. A true gentleman with lots of experience and key knowledge. He was accommodating and polite. I would us this company again. Thank you especially to Louis
Louis was a great guide, personable, friendly and very organized. He had lots of historical information to share and answered all our questions and more! We highly recommend Louis and this tour!
Tour guide, Colin, provided a wealth of historical information about Dday and WW2 in the European theater. We had an uncle who participated in the Dday paratrooper operations and died shortly after. Colin helped us to find the location of the Airborne Division's landing and temporary American Cemetery near St Mere Eglise. Being on the beaches really helped to make us appreciate how enormous the operation was , and how spread out the beaches were. The area is very pretty and peaceful, and hasn't really changed since WW2. Also, you won't find a better guide.
Wonderful experience and guide was great. went from paris to beaches and back in one day but still very well done.
We spent 12 hours with Gilles our guide who picked us up right at our hotel. We drove the 3+ hours to Omaha beach stopping along the way for coffee and toilet breaks. Gilles had a map and used that to give us the history of the area before we arrived. We did the most interesting tour of Omaha beach, The American Cemetery, a local apple farm to sample the wines, had lunch and Gilles described other places as we were driving around the area. His knowledge about the war, France and World War 1 +2 was so impressive. We learned more on that tour about WW2 than sitting in a classroom for 5 years. We are SO GLAD we spent the extra money to take this private tour with Gilles. It was worth every cent. We could never have leaned so much if we were on a large tour tour.Gilles was flexible about how long we wanted to stop for and where we wanted to spend the most time. Our walk around the American Cemetery was really moving, Seeing all the crosses really was overwhelming. So many young men sacrificed so much. May we never have another WW again. MERCI Gilles!!
Wonderful trip to Normandy from Paris. Our guide, Gilles, was very knowledgeable of not only French history and Normandy, but was able to tie together US history as well. He customized the trip to our needs and would recommend 10/10
Our guide was very knowledgeable and had maps to show the whole area. He answered all our questions and took us to every place we wanted to see. Walked me to a New Hampshire grave at the cemetery so I could pay my respects to a person who served from my state. We stayed for TAPS and the flag ceremony. Very moving. Also pointed out places of interest on the 3 1/2 hour drive. Our lunch was at a country farm that had been part of the United States presence. It was all great, even the weather. We would definitely ask for Gilles again.
We took a private tour of the D-Day beaches in Normandy. Our tour guide was Agnes. She was just amazing. She spoke English beautifully. She was extremely informative and answered all of our questions on the drive to Normandy and back to our hotel. I definitely recommend her. What a memorable experience for myself and my family!
This could and should have been a lot better. The sites we visited were wonderful to see but our "guide" chose not to include at least two stops which were listed in the description (Sainte-Mere-Eglise and a visit to Utah Beach). Moreover, the tour description on Viator states, "This private tour is completely tailored to your group's preferences." Nothing could be further from the truth. When asked to make a brief stop at Berkhamsted Castle in Caen (which he said we would pass) our guide refused and indicated there was not time. This was surprising to learn particularly given the fact that the total time the tour lasted was significantly less than the 12 to 14 hours listed in the description. In addition, the tour operator did not respond to two messages I sent via the Viator app. I received zero communication from anyone associated with this experience until our guide showed up late to pick us up. The worst part of the experience, however, was our babblative guide inviting himself to join us for lunch and then having us pay for him. I have been on numerous tour through Viator and never have I experienced something like that. This could have been a fantastic experience and should have been for the high cost of the tour. A partial refund should be granted. Very disappointing.
We had Agnès as our guide for the day. She was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We had the most amazing private lunch, overlooking Omaha Beach. I strongly recommend this excursion.
It was such a great experience even though it is such a somber event. Our guide, Gilles, was very informative, professional and personable. The younger kids in our group really enjoyed it as well. We highly recommend this tour!
Clement and the Finding France team were outstanding tour guides. He provided a lot of information and was just an overall fun and nice gentleman! Highly recommend
This private tour was above and beyond what was expected. We could not have had a more perfect day. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and passionate about Normandy. We say it all and had a very special lunch as well. Highly recommended
As a couple we had a full day tour of the beaches of Normandy and the heroes cemetery and museum. Our guide and driver was Agnes. She was a fabulous and safe driver for the 3 plus hour up and 3 hours back. She was also a fabulous guide, very knowledgeable and an energetic guide. I highly recommend this guide and this tour. Agnes was also a lovely, interesting lady to spend our time with.
Gilles was outstanding. Couldn’t have had a better guide and time. He exceeded all our expectations and look forward to using them again.
This was a fabulous tour!! Jean Noel was an amazing tour guide. It was a long day trip from Paris but worth it. We were not rushed through any on the sites. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and informed us of all the most important information we needed to know before we got to the sites. He spent time pointing out sites along the way and he stayed with telling stories. Many times you just get dropped off but this was not that tour. He went over and beyond to ensure we saw everything we wanted to see and it did not stop there. My son left his bag in the car. Jean Noel and the tour companies answered my frantic emails into the very early morning hours. Jean Noel brought us our bag first thing in the morning too.
Excited to this trip. Booked immediately. Reached out to the tour operator to confirm details. No response for several days. Reached out again. No response. Normally book tours through trip advisor and have never had double no response over 4 days. Decided not to risk an important trip day with a non-responsive tour operator. Cancelled and re-booked with another operator
The views and food was outstanding however our tour guide was without a doubt the very best we experienced during our 35 days of tr.
Best way to see it all in a day: Normandie, beaches, cemetery. Our guide, Gilles was so knowledgeable and friendly. He presented the information in a way that engaged us. We learned so much. He was able to accommodate my disability by occasionally finding a place for me to rest while he and my husband covered areas that were more strenuous. He also pointed out interesting things on the ride to and from. This was the best tour - if you are thinking about taking a private tour, do this one - you will be glad you did. I would love to take another tour if we ever travel back to Paris area again.
Gilles was fantastic. We could not have had a better guide. Aside from His wealth of knowledge - he was just so thoughtful and kind. He wanted us to really enjoy the tour and we did!
Great trip ! Very nice car and super convenient pickup and drop off. Giles was a very knowledgeable and extremely likable tour guide. Really enjoyed getting to know him. Highly recommend
Excellent overall service; our tour guide was very attentive and knowledgeable. DDay beaches visit is a most. Definitively would recommend.
This is a tour we have wanted to take for many years. We were fortunate to have a guide such as Guiles who was passionate and knowledgeable about this sacred place. He answered every question we had throughout the day and was patient as we took many pictures. He also took us to meet Bernard Lebrec on his family farm in Englesqueville la Percee (a short distance from Pointe Du Hoc). There, we were able to taste Normandy Cider and Calvados. Meeting Bernard was very special, as his father was at Michigan State University at the same time my wife’s late parents were there. Overall, it was a day we will remember forever and Guilles our guide was simply the best.
What a memorable and unique day! We were able to experience DDay history and locations together as a family, Louis-Marie was an excellent, knowledgeable and kind guide who made every stop special. The experience was flawless - no waiting anywhere. Communication from the company was excellent. We will work with them again for our next trip.
Normandy and the D-Day beaches were a bucket list thing for me. So we reserved a private tour with Gilles. It was absolutely fantastic and everything I could hope for. Gilles was an absolutely fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining. He has a wonderful approach to educating you with early France and Paris history leading up to the events on June 6, 1944. We saw just the right amount of places for a long one day trip from Paris. I would highly recommend this tour, and don’t be surprised if you shed some tears.
The tour of Normandy with our guide Gilles Lotand with Finding France, was memorable and a must do to fully understand the enormity of the Normandy Beach landings and the American cemetery and the beauty of the Normandy countryside.Gilles historical knowledge was impressive and fascinating. We loved this one day tour.
Our tour guide, Gilles, gave us an up close tour of the Normandy beaches , memorials, and the cemetery. We climbed into a bunker. He is extremely knowledgeable. Gilles shared many wonderful stories and maps about D Day including the preparation for the attack, why the troops came to Normandy and what happened from there. We had a great time.
This company is excellent. We did 5 private tours. Candice was very helpful establishing the itinerary and handling the business transactions. Driver Our driver was Augustin. He is awesome. Comfortable rides, pleasant conversation, and he detoured from direct routes to show us added sights in Paris. The Lourve This place is huge and impossible to see in 4 hours. We went back on our own. Our guide was Vincent. He is very knowledgeable but new at guiding and his English is slow. Frankly this visit was too short, I would either find a full day guide or saved the rest of the day for a self guided tour. Instead we planned an afternoon in Montmartre. Montmartre Vincent was our guide again, this is a walking tour. Vincent was very helpful with historical context for the sights. Beautiful views of Paris. Most folks visit this area on their own but no doubt miss many details. This was worth the investment. Normandy Our guide and driver this day was Gilles. There simply is no way to overstate the quality of this tour or how awesome Gilles is as a guide. He is knowledgeable, respectful, interesting, and easy to understand. His plan for the day, including rest stops, and lunch stop were perfect. Every American should visit Normandy and the American Cemetery. When you go arrange the tour through Finding France and ask for Gilles. Rearrange your travel if need be for his availability. This was my bucket list item, my wife was less enthusiastic about spending a day doing this. We were on a 21 day vacation touring three countries and taking more the a dozen guided tours. She declared this the best day, best guide and best experience. So, if you go to Paris take this tour, ask for Gilles and enjoy. (PS: if you have a relative buried in the cemetery let Gilles know, there are special experiences available. I cannot overemphasize how respectful Gilles is, that enhances the total experience but would be particularly beneficial for a person with a relative in the cemetery) Giverny Lucia was the guide. Excellent guide, good English and very knowledgeable. This is a fantastic place to visit and greatly enhanced with the stories and context Lucia provided. Versailles Lucia also guided this visit. Versailles is huge, particularly the gardens but Lucia did a great job giving us an overview of the gardens with visits to key features and her knowledge in the palace was invaluable. Overall Finding France is an excellent company. Their guides are knowledgeable, polite, on time and make the experiences valuable. I will use them again on future visits. I have visited six continents, used guides dozens of times. Often guides hired for me by people who wanted to impress. Gilles is without question the best guide I ever been assigned or hired. Period.
What a wonderful trip! It was rainy the whole time, but Clément and Louis made the trip very easy. The best part was the obvious passion Clément has for the events of June 6th 1944 and the allied liberation of France. We can’t wait to book another tour the next time we are in Paris.
The tour was perfect! Gilles gave us such a range of history, I learned so much! The drive from Paris was 3.5 hr, which made it 7 hr of driving total. The stops on the tour were all well planned. If I had one, small negative, I would've liked to spend a little more time at Omaha beach. Overall, a very pleasant trip that I highly recommend!
For a roughly 12 hr day, it flew by. Our guide, Gilles, made the long drive interesting with his storytelling and educational buildup. Having a guide was most helpful with visiting the various sites and knowing exactly where to go and how to efficiently move through the day. So many touching and heart warming moments. The food was delicious at our lunch at L’Ephemere, but the history of the family owned castle was just as impressive. Ending the day at the American Cemetery was emotional. Gilles shared many facts we wouldn’t have known walking around on our own. It was an insightful and moving day made entertaining by Gilles’s friendliness and humor. The tour exceeded our expectations, thanks Gilles!
Gilles, our tour guide, was excellent. He gave us a lot of history using maps and flip carts on our drive from Paris to Omaha Beach and all throughout the day. Once on the beach we realized how long it was and the enormity of it at low tide. At Pointe du Hoc we realized that the cliffs were 175' high with Germans firing machine guns down to the beach slaughtering our boys as they hit the beach. Our visit to the American Cemetery was heart wrenching to see all the young Americans who died at Normandy to keep all of us speaking German today.
Nice tour, great guide. It’s a long day the kids were tired after it. Would recommend to anyone to do.
Gilles was extremely knowledgeable about the events leading up to the Normandy invasion and afterwards. His English was excellent so we could understand him easily. We visited the sites listed and because we were a private tour of two we could manage the time as needed for the different sites. Went to a lovely place for lunch L’Empherere(?) Comfortable Merecedes SUV. Would use him and Viator again.
Agnes was an amazing guide-personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and fun to spend the day with. Her insights into D-Day helped us understand what the Allies went through and added to our experience.
What a fabulous way to spend a day in Normandy. Our guide, Gilles, was such a pleasure to spend the day with and learn more about the rich history of D Day. I cannot recommend this tour and especially Gilles enough!
Most amazing day trip for my whole vacation and best care from Clément for all parts of the very comprehensive tour I could ever dream of. Much help was given to get information about my father’s 778th AAA Bn as he did not like to talk about the events that took place with his children.
