Cheese & Wine Tasting In Montmartre With A Local Cheesemonger

This was a highlight of our trip to Paris. Doriane was an *excellent teacher and storyteller. She guided us through the delicious cheese and wine pairing with humour, charm, and so much knowledge. Thank you, Doriane!

Raffaella was an excellent host. She was very knowledgeable yet did it in a fun way. The wine and cheese pairings were very good. We met other nice travelers from all over the world. We had a great time as three females on our trip.

Max's presentation was very energetic. His passion and enthusiasm for cheese and wine enhanced our whole experience. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the cheeses we sampled and which wines they paired well. He showed us the region where each wine was grown. We appreciated that the wine pours were full glasses, not just small samples. He set the standard for what a presentation should be. The 2 hours and 15 minutes went by all too fast.

The wines and cheeses were carefully selected. The pairings were very good from a taste point of view, and represented a nice variety. We learned a lot about each: history, flavors, production, etc. Our leader was very engaging and funny. She set a great tone, so we also enjoyed meeting the other attendees. Overall, a great experience.

It was fantastic from beginning to end. Very informative, delicious wine and cheese pairings, good anecdotes and insights, and lots of fun. Raphaela was amazing. Very knowledgeable, passionate and fun.

Max was engaging, was very knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor and made the class entertaining. He explained each cheese for the region, history and variabilities in France. In addition he described each the wines that were paired with the cheese and why they were chosen.

A must do! I did this tasting with my two adult daughters last December. I’m back with my husband and it was the first thing I booked. This made our trip to Paris so authentic … Dorian was wonderful, as was Max last year. Do yourself a favor and sign up! After or before the tasting , wander around charming Montmartre and Sacre Cœur. It makes for an incredible experience.

This is a small, intimate event in a nice area of Paris. Max the host is a super friendly guy and passionate about his wine/cheese presentation. He is very knowledgeable about wine, cheese in France. He makes everyone in the room feel welcomed and comfortable. He encouraged all to offer opinions, thoughts, ask questions. We thoroughly enjoyed this event. We highly recommend this to family, friends, others.

This was easily one of our favorite activities during our time in Paris. Max was incredibly knowledgeable, and we learned so much about the wine and cheese-making processes, as well as the most renowned regions of France. The intimate setting made it easy to meet and connect with other travelers, and we really enjoyed the conversations with our fellow participants. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Paris, whether it's your first trip or your fifth.

Really interesting! The cheese was soooo good and diverse! The wine was also very good and Raphaëlle knew a lot of interesting facts about the wine and the cheese. Great experience, I would recommend!

My husband and I purchased this wine and cheese tasting a bit last minute after debating whether to do this or a walking tour. We are SO happy we went with this one! The host Max was very fun, knowledgeable and clearly thoughtful about his pairings. The selections were excellent and I learned a lot! The portions are also very generous, you will not leave hungry (or sober haha). We would do this again with friends next time we’re in France.

So much fun! Our host, Dorian’s, was great. She gave us so much information about the cheeses and wines, and the regions they came from. The wines served were all white, all good, and paired well with the cheeses. The late harvest wine was an unexpected treat. We enjoyed the whole experience.

We had a very great wine tasting experience! The host Max is very friendly and chose a very great selection of wines and cheeses, complementing the selection with nice and funny facts. The host is also very interest in you as a person and this makes it feel more like a comfortable conversation rather then an uncomfortable presentation by the host! Great place if you want to learn about French culture and taste beautiful products!

This experience was amazing!!!! I can’t recommend enough. Max is so knowledgeable, friendly & welcoming. He definitely knows his stuff!! He explained things in ways that were easy to understand without going too in depth! He’s also hilarious. There were a lot of laughs! Not to mention both the wine & cheese were absolutely delicious!! We booked this experience through Viator. It was Doriane’s first session as a wine/cheese tutor in this establishment. She was excellent. Her knowledge and use f English was great. She explained everything so well, both with the cheeses and the accompanying wines. The group was small and diverse which was great. We learnt a deal about the cheeses in particular. My only disappointment was being served goat’s cheese, having stated no goat’s cheese, with pre booking dietary requirements.Two out of eight were left by me! The other good aspect was the follow up e mail, giving details of the wines and cheeses we were given. Very efficient.

My grandma and I booked this tasting on a whim for my birthday, and we had an absolutely AMAZING time!! It was two hours of laughs, great wine, and delicious cheese. The space is cozy with just enough people to make the experience intimate and inviting. Max is so kind, funny, and knowledgeable, and truly made this a great time. We tried eight different cheeses with six different white wines, which was more than reasonable for the cost per person. I recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic experience in a beautiful Paris neighborhood, and have told everyone I know just how much this tasting made my birthday so special for both me and my grandma. Things to know: - there was a lot of cheese for each person and I actually enjoyed them all (even the blue cheese which I normally don’t like) - all the wines were white or champagne (apparently red wine overshadows the flavors of the cheese) - this was not a session where you engage a lot with other participants as there’s so much information to cover with 8 cheeses and 5 wines. But there was absolutely time to ask questions.

A plate of 8 cheeses and 5 wines can sound daunting, but he gave excellent details, interspersed with stories and happily fielded all sorts of questions. The cheese and wine tasting in Montmartre with Max ,who is a local Cheesemonger in Paris ended up being one of my favourite things I did in Paris. Max was such a great host, really knowledgeable but also relaxed and funny. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does. He walked us through 8 different French cheeses, all completely different from one another, and explained where they came from and what makes each one special. The wines were thoughtfully chosen and paired really well with the cheeses. Some combinations totally surprised me in the best way. It was fun to taste how the flavours changed depending on what you paired together. The setting in Montmartre was perfect, cosy, intimate, a group of 12 in total. It felt personal and welcoming. Everyone got involved and it was just a really nice atmosphere overall. If you’re in Paris and love cheese (or even just like it), I’d absolutely recommend this experience. It felt authentic, delicious, and just genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

This was the best experience we have had on a Viator activity. Max is truly an expert that understands how to explain the complicated world of cheese to the inexperienced. He made it so enjoyable that the 2 hours went by so quickly because it was laughs and tasty cheese. The tour included the most amazing tasting cheese that we had not experienced before and paired with beautiful wine. He also provide some great tips and tricks so that we enjoy our vacation in Paris. We highly recommend this tour because it will not dissappoint.

100% worth it for an amazingly authentic Parisian experience. The host Max makes the class intimate, with a small group which allows for a cozier atmosphere. The portions are very generous with a tasting of 8 cheeses & 4 wines. He goes extremely in depth of explaining the process of cheese making, the origin, going through the pairings, and demonstrating with actual cheese wheels. It was nice to know that the profit is going to a business man with a family and truly he enjoys what he does! .

Max was hilarious and really fun. I learned so much about wine and cheese. The conversation was great. This was definitely our funnest wine tasting in Paris and we have been to a few.

Moreover, his passion is very contagious and his wit is truly entertaining. And, not unimportant of course, the cheeses and wines? They're like little angels pooping and peeing on your tongue. You have to go see Max! The Wine & Cheese Tasting was one of the best experiences from our recent trip to Paris. We had so much fun at the tasting. Max did a wonderful job of sharing his extensive knowledge of the French wine and cheese making in a warm and fun environment. We particularly enjoyed learning more about the customs and history of wine and cheese in the French society. We highly recommend signing up for one of Max's classes for a relaxed, fun and delicious afternoon in Paris!
