The Bruges Small-Group Full-Day Trip from Paris was absolutely worth it! Our driver did not speak English, but that never caused an issue. He was incredibly thoughtful about translating everything through text, answered all of our questions, and stayed in communication with us throughout the day. We never missed a beat and always felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. And honestly, what’s not to love about this adorable city? Waffles, beer, fries, beautiful streets, and so much charm! It was a wonderful way to escape the crowds of Paris for the day and experience Bruges. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely book this trip again. We’ll definitely recommend it to our friends! Overall, a good tour. Beware… if your small group is cancelled and you still want to make the trip from Paris… it is VERY expensive! Even though they cancelled (the small group) and we still wanted to make the trip, it cost us an additional $380. To me… VERY VERY disappointing! The tour guide was phenomenal from an informational and engagement perspective - my only negative was that he was asking for tips before tour started and basically gave you a range of what the tips should be.
This is a complete scam. the wording makes you believe that this is a small group private tour. It is not. Our family was taken to Bruges. Then we were left with a free walking tour group. We could have booked that tour ourselves on GuruWalk or FreeToursByFoot. There was nothing private about the tour since the group had 20 people in it. We felt scammed by the tour company. We paid over $1000 for 3 people and it was wrong of the tour company and viator to mislead us this way. Be warned and avoid this tour if you can. There is no way for us to recover the money, but I am hoping others can avoid this pitfall. I am sure we could have booked a private taxi to Bruges for far less or taken the train, which is pretty convenient. Do explore those options before selecting this tour
There was confusion upon arrival in Bruges. This resulted in some lost time for us in the city. We were told our tour would be capped at 7ppl and there were 14ppl. Also, from the beginning, our guide told us the tour was “free” and that they only get paid with our tips. They said that Viator doesn’t pay anything for the tours. Since we paid over $1,000 for a family of 3 this was very disheartening. Of course we planned on tipping our guide, but this approach was not what we expected. We use Viator for all of our tours and have consistently had great experiences. This one was a disappointment.
I wish I could give this zero stars. I can't even give a review because no one ever showed up to take us on this tour. We woke up very early, paid for an Uber to our pick up spot and stood in 40 degree weather for over an hour waiting to be picked up. No one made any attempt to contact us to let us know they weren't coming. We only made contact with them after my husband final got a hold of someone through Whatsapp. No explanation just "That's our fault. We will refund you." While I did eventually receive a refund I am still out the $25 I paid for an Uber. We were extremely disappointed. This was a part of our trip we were very excited for. I would not book this tour if you actually want to go to Belgium.

Very informative. Driver / Guide were amazing. Punctual, respectful, and made sure we had bathroom breaks and time to stretch.
Great city and day trip. but its quite long. Overall wonderful experience and a must visit city for all.
Brugge is special. If your only way to visit is a day trip from Paris, then do it. It really deserves more time. Our driver , Vadim was terrific. The vans not the most comfortable for this long drive, but ok. Our guide in Brugge, Jerome, was amazing… the type of guide you always hope to get.
I think the tour was excellent! The driver was also punctual. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in visiting Bruges from Paris to join this tour.
Amazing day trip! The drive from Paris to Brugge was relatively short and pleasant. Once in Brugge we were greeted by our tour guide Gerome. The tour was great, we learned lots of history about the city and our tour guide Gerome was great throughout the entire tour. After the tour we had some free time to explore the city on our own and we were given great recommendations from our tour guide. Overall, amazing sights and great time on our tour!
Excellent day-trip with Alex driving and Jerome as our personal tour guide. Jerome was very knowledgeable about all things Brugge- enjoyed spending several hours getting to know the city and it's colorful history. Thank you
Our guide, Jerome, was top notch! He was informative, friendly, entertaining, and provided excellent historical as well as humorous information about Brugge and the surrounding area. We highly recommend this tour and spending the day in the area and requesting Jerome to show you around.
The day was cancelled by vendor after we notified them we were waiting. We were told the excursion was cancelled due to tehnical difficulties. Very disappointed.
This was a great experience! Fun day trip from Paris to Bruges. We were able to do a tour and shop in all the wonderful stores. Our driver Aslan was the best!
Where to begin? Brugge is absolutely enchanting. Like nothing else we’ve ever seen. Nothing we’ve ever experienced since visiting outside of Paris on this trip. The architecture took our breath away. The rich history. We love Antiques, art and anything “old“. We got a kick out of the fact that some of the 16th century buildings are referred to as “newer“. Of course, you don’t need to hear it from us, but try the chocolates! The cheese croquets! The waffles. The LOCAL beer! Sit and relax and enjoy the views. Take a boat ride on the canal. The favorite part for us was the company. We were lucky to have only another couple in the minivan with us. Ivan was our driver, so friendly & kind, made sure we knew where to be later when he dropped us off. (I wish HE was driving us on another tour we have scheduled this Friday.) He’s a gem!! Of course, our tour guide on the ground was wonderful. Jerome!! I have a feeling that everyone in the area knows him. Funny. Down to earth. He knew everything about the history. Political, religious, architectural, pretty much everything we saw… He knew absolutely everything… the statues. The faces on the walls. He made sure that we saw every important historical site. And yes, he knew where to get the best chocolate. So thankful. We were fortunate to have a small group, but I think because of our tour guide and driver, this tour was a home run like no other so far.
Brugge is an enchanting place. We really like the tour guide and he was knowledgeable and gave us tips where to go
Everything was great , the driver , the guided tour , and the free time to roam around the town was all as promised ! No deception worth the money !
The driver was wonderful up and back , the tour guide was incredible, and very open to conversation .. very knowledgeable of area , I was able to share stories from states ( history of Stetson hats )
Our tour guide Jerome was great. So knowledgeable and took the time to explain even the little things. This was a really fun tour- would highly recommend.
At first the tour seemed a bit pricey but it was well worth it. When they say full day they really mean it! We left our hotel at 7:30 am and returned at 8:30 pm. They did not have enough people sign up to do the tour as originally planned but they offered us 3 different alternatives if we wanted. We chose to go with a private tour and it was wonderful! Driver picked us up right on time. Jerome was our guide in Brugge and he was very knowledgeable about the city's history. Brugge is a wonderful medieval city.
Awful experience We we never picked up at the meeting point The tour provider said aviator never notified him of our booking Absolutely awful treatment of us by Viator If we aren’t properly compensated we will post our total experience on the web
Driver was excellent. He did not speak much English but was clear on what was happening and very courteous. Our guide in Bruges was fantastic. I apologize I can’t name him my wife and I disagree on what we heard and I don’t want to be wrong. Regardless he was awesome. Informative, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Great tour. Bruges itself is a gem.
Such a wonderful day. Our driver, Uni was exceptional, such a courteous, professional. We spent 2 hrs on a walking tour with Jerome which was a bit "meh" but then had plenty of time on our own to shop and explore. A very memorable day.
Everything was great. The driver picked us up at our hotel and we had a pleasant trip back and forth from Bruges. So easy! The tour guide was interesting and very knowledgeable. He led us through Bruges while giving us the background and history of each place. We even stopped at few chocolate shops and got many samples. Loved my time in Bruges and highly recommend using this guide.
Jerome our guide was very knowledgeable and took us throughout the city. He actually stayed longer than the planned tour duration. It is clear that he has a passion (it isn’t just a job for him) to share the city and its history that he grew up in. I would highly recommend.
I booked this tour months before our trip to Paris. I booked this tour through Viator in the United States. I had multiple direct emails with Clewel, specifically with Cyrus G. regarding my pickup hotel. Upon arrival in Paris, I had the hotel call Clewel to confirm our trip and pickup hotel. On the day before the tour, with less than 24 hours notice, I receive an email that they are cancelling the trip because their car is in the shop. I had to scramble to find another tour company to take us to Bruges at twice the cost. I found out that my wife and I were the only people signed up for the tour, so I suspect that is why they cancelled. It is hard to believe that a large tour company as Clewel only has one car available. Be aware, this can also happen to you.
This was my first experience using Viator. We were excited about having a smaller van take us to Belgium and back to Paris. We arrived at the pick up location 15 minutes early so as not to be late. The minivan driver arrived 45 minutes late. We stood outside in 40° weather that was windy and cloudy for 60 minutes at 7 AM. We tried calling Clewel Travel direct multiple times with the contact information on the voucher. They did not answer the call until after the third attempt over a 30 minute period of time. We weren’t sure if we would be going to Belgium or not that day, which was very disappointing for a first time Viator experience. The reason we were told that the driver was late was due to the other couple being late. We were not confident that that was a true statement, rather an excuse. It was very disheartening and disappointing that for a tour booked with five participants that only speak English that the driver would not speak any English and could not. That made for an uncomfortable 7+ hours in a minivan without an ability to say when it’s getting hot or cold or someone needed to stop for a restroom break. The driver was unfriendly in disposition and did not drive safely. At one point he stopped so abruptly someone in the backseat fell forward and hit the seat in front of them. In another situation, a passenger screamed when there was almost an accident. Because we were departing Paris 60 minutes late, a text was received from Clewel Travel and Viator that we would receive an additional hour of time to spend in Bruges, Belgium. Since the driver could not speak English and did not receive the message, we did not get the extra hour we had been promised. There were four bottles of water left by each of the seats and when we asked for a fifth one for the fifth person, the driver couldn’t understand what we were asking or couldn’t find more water. It was unclear. So one person was just out of luck on the tour, we did notice the driver was drinking one of the bottles of water. The tour guide in Bruges Belgium was very pleasant and nice. He did not though read his audience very well. It was explained to him in the beginning that because we were arriving so late, that none of us had had lunch. It was about 1:00 PM when the tour started. After two hours, it was clear that all of us were very hungry and wanted to break for lunch. His passion for history of Bruges did not enable him to see people squirming and uncomfortable and wanting to eat lunch. So we asked to discontinue the portion of the tour so that we could eat. Maybe some advice for the English speaking guide in the future would be to ask when do customers want to break for lunch, rather than what the schedule dictates-specially given any adjustments to the schedule for lateness on behalf of the tour company. The Bruges guide was friendly & helpful otherwise. Overall, late driver… unpleasant driver… unsafe driver… no-to-low communication… shortened trip… promised extra time but not received… and long, long day. Would never take a trip again via Viator if Clewel Travel is listed as the local provider.
We switched to the private tour bc we were the only.ones in our groupf. It was great to have driver pick up and drop.off at our place. We had an amazing tour by Jerome that me and my daughter loved and then just loved all the free time to explore, have lunch and enjoy this beautiful place. Highly recommend
Bruges is a beautiful place to visit and our guide, Jerome, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. There were only two other people on our tour so it was a nice small group with plenty of room in the mini van. Unfortunately, we selected a cold and rainy day to visit so we decided not to take the river boat cruise we had been looking forward to taking. We still managed to have a great time, take beautiful photos, shop, as well as enjoy some Belgian fries, waffles, and chocolates!
This is a definitely must do trip. We cannt wait to try this experience again. Our driver Rusty was excellent, the ride was comfortable. Our tour guide Jerome was the best tour guide in Bruges, he was very knowledgeable and dedicated. I would definitely want to request him as our tour guide again.
We had a great time. The driver was excelent and the guide very well informed and charming. The town is wonderful and the history amazing. We fully recommend it.
The overall trip was fun and the ride is very comfortable. we were just hoping that the walking tour was shorter. it took almost 2hrs and we ended having less time for eating and exploring the city. But will still reco the tour as we travelled hassle free and comfortable ride.
Boat tour in the canal , the belfry, the chocolate shops, the walking tour of Bruges, the site of the city
Travelled with two couples and we really enjoyed the tour. Yes there are no bathrooms on board but I found the stop on the way there adequate (half way) and on the way back there wasn’t a stop but we weren’t bothered by it. The tour was just long enough (approx 1.5 hours) to learn a few things and then have roughly 3.5 hours on your own to explore. My only complaint is the guides microphone died and it became difficult to be able to look around while hearing what he was saying since we were with a larger crowd, being prepared with a backup seems mandatory. Keep in mind you are taking just a day trip to Bruges so if you are wanting to explore the city longer then stay there or the surroundings areas for a night or two. This isn’t that type of trip, its to give you a basic history of the area, immerse yourself in its beauty, see a few things on your own and head back to AMS
Great place to visit. Driver was excellent, courteous, friendly, but his English was very limited. Guide in Bruges was fantastic.
This was the highlight of our Paris family trip. We had lined up different tours throughout our entire stay in Paris, but this was by far our favorite. Our driver Vadim took great care to get my family safely and comfortably to Brugge and back to Paris. We were a family of four who had a very comfortable van, driver and exceptional tour guide all to ourselves. Our guide Jerome was truly the best tour guide I’ve ever had. As a teacher and resident of Brugge, he is both historian and citizen. He had a great sense of humor and mastery of historical storytelling that kept even the attention of my two kids (both young adults who usually hate tours) engaged for 2.5 hours. I especially loved how he would weave his deep knowledge of history with personal stories of what life was like growing up in Brugge. The tour felt like we were visiting a friend ( less like a cold checklist rifled off) . Jerome took his time to explain and meander into sights to look and explain -not just walk by and preach which is what many tour guides do. I underestimated how impressed we would be with Brugge . I learned to love so much about this amazing town because of this tour. It is the reason why I’ve vowed to return for a longer stay in the future. Can’t recommend this tour enough. If there is one tour you do on your trip to Paris, it should be this. Worth every euro/penny and more.
We had such a great time. Long drive from Paris but totally worth it such a lovely town/ city we loved it and are so glad we did that tour.
Bruges was a beautiful city and true Venice of the north. Just be aware the trip includes the drive there and back and they connect you with a large group free historical tour. That guide was good but we thought we were going to have a more personalized tour guide for the day.
Van driver was excellent. Walking tour was good+, but your is not handicapped accessible. Many problems!
Amazing trip !! Our driver was very nice and the guide tour excellent too . I recommend this trip 100% . The city is beautiful.
Trip got canceled because 2 other people canceled and the company giving the tour wanted more money (on top of what we already had paid)in order to take us to Bruges
We really enjoyed Bruges and would definitely recommend it as a day visit or also an overnight. It is such an interesting and pretty city. While the local tour guide (Jerome) was great and the driver was professional, I wouldn't recommend taking this tour if the same number of people were packed into the minivan as we had. We had a total of nine people (including the driver) in the minivan, which had three rows. My husband and I had to sit in the front on the way to Bruges, with me in the passenger seat and him in the middle (between the driver and me) and with no headrest for him. I cannot emphasize enough how crammed we were in that space and how uncomfortable it was. I do not think it is acceptable to put someone in that front middle seat, especially for a drive that was 3 hours & 15 minutes on the way and about 3 hours & 45 minutes on the return. Everything else about the trip was great, so I am sad to have to give this review.
The tour was great. The driver picked us up on time from our address, took us to Bruges where we met our guide, who gave us a great tour of the city, and then drove us back. The only issue I had is that they packed 9 large adults including the driver in a minivan for a 3 hour ride to Bruges and 3 hours back. Two families shoulder to shoulder with each other. I did an earlier similar tour where they had a larger vehicle. Other than this issue everything else was great. My family and I enjoyed it.
Great day tour. Our driver was very friendly and professional. We arrived to the city where we met our tour guide, a charismatic and knowledgeable person who did a fantastic job. Bring strong umbrellas with the emphasis on strong. Depends on the day but we had rain and wind that munched our cheap umbrellas :)
This was lovely. Valerie was very knowledgeable. I feel like we somehow saw most of the city in a small amount of time. Try to eat before, it’s an early start, a long drive and the tour is right when you arrive. Seeing Bruges was beyond memorable. It’s a fantastic city. Just fantastic.
The tour was amazing. The drive to Bruges was not too long. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is an unforgettable experience. visiting the Bloedbasiliek was an important experience. highly recommended. beer tasting is awesome.
Awesome place to visit for a day. Valerie was a wonderful guide as well as Rustam. I Highly recommend this Tour. Definitely will visit again.
Terrible communication with the tour operator; they canceled the activity a few hours before due to payment issues without having sent us any notice beforehand, which left us having lost this activity that was outside the city!
