Itinerary
After a safe and scenic drive from Paris to northern Belgium, you’ll arrive in the medieval centre of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its canals, cobbled streets and beautifully preserved Flemish façades. Follow your guide on a walking tour through the old town before enjoying free time to explore on your own, have lunch and discover the city at your own pace.
Enjoy a canal cruise, offering the best views of Bruges’ medieval façades and most iconic photo spots (every day from April to October). In winter, the cruise is replaced by a visit to the Gothic Hall of the Town Hall, and the city transforms into a magical setting with Christmas lights, markets and festive decorations.
Visit Market Square, the lively heart of Bruges, lined with colourful guild houses, cafés and bustling terraces. It’s one of the best places to feel the city’s everyday rhythm, from passing locals and visitors to horse-drawn carriages and open-air cafés.
Then turn your eyes to the Belfry, the tower that dominates the square and once served as Bruges’ main watchtower and symbol of power. Your guide will point out its key features and share stories about its role in medieval life, as well as show you where to find some of the most famous fry stands (frietkoten) if you’d like to try authentic Belgian fries.
A peaceful complex of whitewashed houses and a quiet green courtyard founded in 1245. Once home to Beguines – independent laywomen who lived a devout but unmarried life – it is now inhabited by Benedictine nuns and a few Bruges women. Your guide will explain the history of the beguinage and why it is part of UNESCO’s protected heritage. It’s an oasis of calm just a short walk from the canals and one of the most atmospheric places in Bruges.
Stop at Rozenhoedkaai, one of the most photographed viewpoints in Bruges, where canals, façades, trees and bridges form a perfect postcard scene. From here you can really understand why Bruges is called the “Venice of the North.”
Then continue towards the Lake of Love (Minnewater), a romantic lake with swans and historic buildings that once formed the old harbour of medieval Bruges. Both spots are ideal moments for photos and for simply soaking up the city’s atmosphere before or after your free time.

It’s a very long day. Jean Baptiste is a superb guide and driver who makes everyone as comfortable as possible. Bruges is worth the trip but if I had it to do over, I would begin the excursion somewhere closer than Paris.
Great way to get to Bruges directly from Paris. Beautiful place to experience and see. Andres shared a lot of historical facts and recommendations of places to eat, shop and see.
Tour did not live up to the description in the Viator brochure. Trip was 4 hours each way, not 3 as stated. Had we known we would not have booked. Tour guide (Frederick) provided absolutely no descriptive narrative at all as described in the brochure. Tour guide walked at a very fast pace and never looked back to see if group members were keeping up which was quite stressful. Very disappointing.
Great experience with our guide Vivian. As our guide mentioned the weather was unpredictable. 100% would recommend!
Sebastian was a great guide. We had a wonderful time. Bruges is beautiful. My only suggestion would be to have a clearer meeting place. The bldgs began to look the same after awhile. But that’s our fault for not taking a picture beforehand. Thank you again.
My husband and I had a great experience. The tour guide, Andres, was knowable and attentive to all of our questions and our needs - considering it was a warm day in August.
Roland was great! Remarkable on his knowledge of history and art. A fun filled day with great communication and care.
We showed up at the meeting place on Jluy 31 @ 7am with our confirmation and several emails from the company counting down to our trip date. However when the guide showed up to collect all passengers, our names were not on his list. Checking in with the office we were told that our names were on the list for August 1. The company was apologetic and we received a complete refund in a couple of days.
The ride from Paris to Bruges alone is worth it. Cheaper, faster and more comfortable than public transportation. My only regret is not Having more time in Bruges! The city is a dream. Take a pillow to sleep in the car. Our guide was a little hard to hear for the back row in the car, and his thick accent made it hard to understand everything he said. But that being said he was very nice and knowledgeable- he shared some great shops and restaurants.
Saved on travel cost and got to enjoy a beautiful city.
It was perfect the visit, just maybe I can suggest expend more time in brujas.
Great day trip out of Paris. You get to enjoy a different country, a different world. Great atmosphere.
Bruges is absolutely worth visiting!!! The city is gorgeous. I wish we traveled there with a large bus versus 2 small white vans with no commentary; just a quiet 4 hour ride. The guides were nice enough though.
It is a long drive but totally worth it! Our guide Roland was great. There were 8 people on the tour, he flipped from English to Spanish when talking to us all, very inclusive and excited to share his local favorites. Bruges is everything the pictures show! Don’t miss the handmade lace store and make sure you hit up Lizzi’s waffles!!!!
This tour basically consisted of a drive to Brugge and back. It was a 3 hour drive there and back (no traffic). The van is cramped. 8 people in a small mini van. The driver didn't offer any historical information or fun facts about Belgium or Brugge. Once we got to the town we road on the canal (not in English) then the guide walked us to the market and the rest was on our own. It's not really worth it in my opinion but to each their own.
Our guide, Tim was excellent! The exploration was enjoyable. I would book again, lovely atmosphere as well.
Our day trip to Bruges from Paris was “c’est manifique!”. Our tour guide Andres was amazing and was the perfect host. Traffic was a bit sticky getting out of Paris, but once we hit the highway it was smooth sailing. We made a quick bathroom and breakfast pitstop on the way and then arrived in Bruges around 11 for a wonderful quick tour with Andres. He was very informative and was an excellent photographer, offering to take photos at all of the right spots. We took a quick boat tour and then were given ample free time to explore the city before heading back to Paris. The weather and pacing for the day was perfect and allowed us time to enjoy lunch, shopping, and the beautiful scenery. I would highly suggest this trip to anyone wanting to enjoy the charm of Bruges, without staying over night. We truly were able to enjoy the city, and some chocolates of course, without any trouble. This is the perfect way to travel to Bruges and make sure you see all the sights in a short amount of time.
Our guided trip to Bruges was outstanding. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the long drive enjoyable with easy and pleasant conversation. He also shared interesting information about the city’s historic landmarks, which added valuable context to the visit. As we had just come from Paris, we chose to spend our time in Bruges simply strolling, relaxing, and enjoying great food and local beverages. He provided excellent recommendations for dining, chocolate shops, local beer, and waffles. We followed all of his suggestions, and each one exceeded our expectations—his recommendations were truly spot on. We would gladly book another guided tour with him in the future.
Sébastien is a brilliant and lovely tour guide. He introduces many attractions and shops in Bruges. I would highly recommend this trip.
Very misleading. 9 of us including the driver were in a small cramped minivan. It was a very long way to travel in a small vehicle. We were lead to believe it would be a coach. Very uncomfortable and only one usb to charge 9 phones. We were not offered champagne or Belgium chocolate. Bruges is a gem of a town though.
Our guide Remy was wonderful and gave us great insight on where to go for a delicious lunch. The boat ride was so fun and make sure you have your cameras ready for some beautiful pictures of the city. Yes it is a long day of driving, but definitely a great experience!
Bruges itself was absolutely lovely and well worth visiting. The canal tour was a highlight, and the city is charming, walkable, and full of character. Unfortunately, I would not recommend visiting through Viator. The drive was stressful due to the guide’s erratic driving, and the “guided tour” consisted mostly of very basic commentary with no historical or cultural information. The guide also arrived late, and there were several moments where she seemed unprepared. If I were to do it again, I would take the train and hire a local guide in Bruges. The train is faster and more relaxing, and exploring with a knowledgeable local guide would have made for a much better experience while allowing more flexibility to enjoy the city at my own pace.
Andres was fantastic guide! I appreciated how accurate he was on how the trip would run. He knew a lot of good information about Bruges. Would definitely go on another tour with him.
Was to be English speaking. First hour on bus - continuous Spanish. Late arriving at location so walk to boat was faster than some (I) could handle. I thought boat driver jokes were inappropriate. Included champagne and chocolate were never provided. One of tour leaders recognized the swift walking issue and slowed down the walk back to the bus.
The place is beautiful and worth visiting. Our driver and tour guide, Remy, was fun and very knowledgeable. Bruges is just one of the those places you have to visit.
This place is a total ripoff!!! We waited for over an hour and the guide never showed up, and we were told that the tour had been cancelled. We requested a refund but are still waiting. This is unacceptable and people should avoid this company at all costs!!!
Briggs is beautiful , but our time was very limited. I felt rushed the whole day. To hear the guide you had to be right at his side. And he walked so fast that it was hard to keep up with him. He did not have a microphone or us earpieces like many other groups I noticed. So even though he had a loud voice if you were not right by him you missed out on what he was explaining. Again the city is beautiful and we plan on going back but not with a guided group. I do not think that 3 hours is enough time to eat lunch visit the city and be ready to be practically running to the bus.
Surprisingly it’s a very charming city. The river cruise experience is one of a kind it’s a lot better than Venice. The water is clean and the place is serene. It’s probably a unique Belgian vibes. Plus the tour guide is very pleasant and friendly. I dont feel neglected and isolated even though I was the only guest that non Spanish speaking. Kudos to that guy. Sorry I forgot his name.
Our guide (handsome young black-haired gentleman) was wonderful! He didn’t over-speak; which left time to rest and enjoy the ride. He also had a trainee along, who talked a LOT. When we arrived, we were well informed about our area and toilets. The canal boat ride was LOVELY! We were directed to the best waffle restaurants and chocolate shops, then given ample free-time to roam, eat and shop. My husband and I had a really nice time in Bruges!
This was more of a ride to Bruges than it was an actual guided tour which to me was no problem. Our driver was a young, nice guy but we didn't catch his name. He guided us to where to catch the boat for the canal cruise which was awesome and left us for a few hours. Bruges is beautiful - like a fairytale. We had a great time and I would highly recommend!
Best experience and travel guide! Travel guide was elaborate and helpful and easy to understand and helpful. Side note, I got lost for a moment but my travel guide took the time to find me :)
As others have said, this is more transport than tour. Nine people in a very cramped and uncomfortable van for four hours each way (vs the three advertised). The driver was nice enough but didn’t offer a lot of interesting information. He had a notebook to refer to but often got mixed up or confused. Bruges was lovely but very touristy. Canal ride was the nicest part but the captain had to speak in three languages and offered very little historical information. The town is essentially waffles, chocolate shops, and cafes. I should have been prepared how many tourists there would be but it was a bit overwhelming.
Don’t waist your money. Don’t get me wrong, the tour driver is very friendly and engaging but he is not a tour guide, and those were his first words starting the tour. For what we paid, we could had taken a luxury taxi and then download a walking tour guide or if I wanted to save $$, we could have taken public transportation, a local walking tour and a nice dinner in town. The river boat, is not catered for English speakers. The boat captain, will also let you know that he is not an official tour guide, he is just the captain of the boat. He share some anecdotes and stories mostly in German and French but not in English. In other words, “a waist of money and time”. We really didn’t learned much about Bruges and its rich history.
Perfect day trip to enchanting Bruges. Canal cruise lovely. Enjoyed fries and waffles. Guide, Renaud, was relaxed and helpful. Viator tour description doesn’t match actual excursion. Besides the canal cruise, no guided tour of sites - perhaps advertise as self guided tour? Arrival to Tourism France at 6:30am, left standing on sidewalk.
Great day trip from Paris. We saw a lot of sights. Very friendly tour guides. The river cruise was wonderful!
The guide was a jerk and a bit racist, calling me put of my name. The tour itself was very interesting and I would like to spend more time there. I loved the museums and canal trip.
Serge was our guide and he was fantastic! He was very friendly and patient, considering he had to repeat everything in Spanish and English for our group. This was our engagement trip and Serge was so thrilled about it, which made us feel extra special. The drive was a bit long but this was expected—We had a bathroom/snack break on the way there and back, so it was okay! He made sure we were all a comfortable temperature in the van. When we got to Bruges, he gave us some great history of the city, led us to our canal cruise (which was great—not too long or too short), and then walked us through the town to show us the best places to purchase chocolates, beer, waffles, etc. which was greatly appreciated. He also informed us of the classic Flemish dishes so we could experience the food culture while we were there. My only complaint is that I wish we had more time to spend wandering around Bruges! But I understand that time was pretty tight. On the drive back to Paris, Serge made a point to tell us of some of his favorite restaurants in the city to make our last couple of days as memorable as possible. He was such a great guide! I definitely recommend this tour, especially if you have the chance to have Serge as your guide!
This was a beautiful and fun trip. Serge was an awesome driver and tour guide and he is very knowledgeable and entertaining! We highly recommend this tour. We give it 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️out of 5!
Unfortunately, this is not a tour. It is literally round trip transportation from Paris to Bruges. We were in a small van with six other people (four hours each way…not three as mentioned in the tour description) Bruges is lovely and worth a visit, but take the train. The driver provided zero input.
The best tour. The tour guide Flavio is very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this Bruges tour.
Since it's within driving distance from Paris, we decided to visit Belgium – Bruges in particular, due to its medieval architecture and canals. We were a small group in a mini-van. The ride is a bit long, but was broken with a rest-stop (snacks/washroom) on the way there and back. Another washroom stop was available on arrival (and departure) and it was a short walk to our canal boat ride. The canal ride was fun – not too long, but enough for some nice views and a fun narrative. The wait for the boat was also quite quick! After the canal ride, we walked around the area of Markt 20, while our friendly guide Simon noted places to see and then we separated for our own personal time: to eat, shop and take in the town. I recommend researching for the better chocolate and waffle shops to avoid tourist traps – the best shops are all on the outskirts of the Markt 20. The trip was well-planned at a relaxing pace: no rushing to keep up and plenty of rest stops. Plus with a good balance of group and personal time.
Michel was great, juggling between a Spanish speaking group and our English speaking family. He's a knowledgeable tour guide and safe driver. Michel took us on the canal ride which was fun and informative. Then he showed us a few shops and sights. After that, we appreciated a few hours to lunch and explore on our own.
It was great experience, beautiful city....a lot a lot of history...few hours is not enough. And more than 8 hours on road
The Bruges tour was overall great. Florian our tour guide was the best. He was very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us through key areas of what to see and eat during our day tour of Bruges. I highly recommend this tour.
Phillipe was such a great guide. He drove all the way and back and having a small group of seven made it the perfect number to walk around Bruges. In addition to telling us the history and taking us to all the places promised for the tour, he was able to recommend restaurants off the beaten path from all in the hustle and bustle and noise in the streets. We had a nice quiet lunch and enjoyed walking around looking in the shops and enjoyed every minute of our day. Merci boucoup Philipe.
This is a great way to see Belgium as a day trip from Paris. It was approximately 3 hours each way and in total a 12 hour trip. Our guide, Simon, was truly knowledgeable and personable connecting with each guest.
No it was mis leading the size of the bus. It was a mini van for 7 people and I being a tall guy and no room. Was seated in the very back and felt very uncomfortable to ride that way for 3 hour was not good so we didn’t go.
Bruges is a one a kind place world wide. Charming old town well over a century old. Belgian waffles, Beer, chocolate and much more. Don’t let the drive scare you. Amine, our guide made the ride go quick with history and music.
We recently went on a day trip to Bruges and was not exactly sure what to expect. There are so many options online and prices and reviews vary so widely. We opted for this trip simply for the convenience in location to our hotel. The bus itself was quite small and cramped (not the large bus I was expecting) but the trip was quite enjoyable. We had a fantastic guide who was very knowledgable, pleasant, and really cared about our experience. It was a very long drive to Bruges but the town itself is gorgeous (if overrun with tourists). The trip also included a canal ride. I’d definitely recommend this trip.
