Mangrove, Beaches And Islands By Kayak Tour

A fantastic tour in every way from the scenery, nature, peace and quiet - and the friendliness of my guide Giuliano and Michael the company owner. I can't recommend this tour highly enough for someone like me who loves wildlife and nature and who craves a bit of peace and quiet when visiting special ecological places such as these mangroves and quiet islets. Giuliano was super knowledgeable about the area and shared his insights and passion for all the creatures that live there. This will be one of my memorable days from 6 weeks of nature exploring in Brazil.

We had a fantastic experience with Paraty Explorer's tour "Mangrove, Beaches and Islands by Kayak". Communication was excellent before the tour started. We were provided with a clear map by Whatsapp to guide us to their meeting location. They knew we were arriving by cruise ship and were very accommodating with the start time to fit the arrival time of our ship. We were with 3 other couples. Michael was very patient and took time in explaining how the kayaks work and adjusting each of them before we started. We are accompanied by a second guide, Pippo. Both guides were very knowledgeable about the area and vegetation. We kayaked through a mangrove area and then had a break on a beach nearby. At the end we had an option to go to another area. The other couples were ready to head back. Once again, they were very flexible and willing to accommodate everybody so one guide escorted that group back to the shore. Pippo, the other guide, took my husband and I to another mangrove area so that he could show us a Cabybara (really interesting looking animal). We really enjoyed our tour. I am a travel agent and would not hesitate to recommend Paraty Explorer to any of my clients.

We had a fantastic kayak tour through the beautiful, unspoiled mangroves with Paddy as our guide. The scenery was peaceful and stunning — a perfect way to connect with nature. As first-time kayakers, we really appreciated Paddy’s calm, knowledgeable guidance. He made us feel completely safe and at ease, while sharing fascinating insights about the area’s ecosystem and wildlife. A truly memorable and relaxing experience — highly recommended!

This was a lovely trip and suitable for teens and adults . We went in double canoes that were very safe. We mainly paddled hugging the coast and then travelled though a mangrove. It was surreal and fascinating later we paddled to a restaurant for drinks and then back a different way. We all enjoyed it very much and our guide Juliano was very knowledgeable and fun. He spoke perfect English.

A great excursion that. It was well organized, guides were very knowledgeable and overall a great time. Would highly recommend for your time in Paraty.

We really enjoyed our kayaking experience with Michael. We kayaked in the bay stopping off at a lovely beach, an island where we had a light bite, and on our way back, via a mangrove. Michael was a great guide who gave technique tips for paddling and was knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife. 100% recommend.

Great fun and Paulo our guide was excellent. The kayaking was exerting but not overly challenging. We always felt safe and in good hands and Paulo gave us useful info during the experience. I’d highly recommend these guys if you are staying in Paraty - it’s a great way to see some of the mangroves and beaches.

It was our first time kayaking. It would have been a great trip because both the tour and the tour guide were otherwise excellent, but our kayak had a small hole near the right steering pedal that no one knew about. The result was that my area in the kayak gradually took on a lot of water that needed to be pumped out several times during the tour. Not knowing of the hole, the tour guide initially blamed my rowing technique for causing water to come into the kayak, which was VERY stressful as I tried to overcompensate even as I didn't know what I had done wrong. Eventually, as the kayak continued to take on water, the tour guide watched my technique and concluded that it wasn't me. So, when an opportunity came up, he examined the kayak, found the hole and improvised a plug (pieces from a styrofoam cup, I think) to plug the hole, significantly slowing the intake of water. As if that wasn't bad enough, the left steering pedal broke off during a max left turn while returning back to the beach. I didn't even get any pics. I tipped the tour guide because I didn't really blame him for what happened and he was great, including towing us for quite a bit of the way. Although incidences are probably rare, it seems that a good practice for tour operators would be to inspect each kayak before each use (at least for holes).

We did a kayak tour with Michael in Paraty and we absolutely loved it! I had never kayaked before, Michael was an excellent teacher & guide! I highly recommend this tour!

Had the best time with Patary Explorer. They were so accommodating, we were in a cruise ship and were worried about tender times etc for their fixed tour. They told us not to worry and put on a special tour for this of us in the ship, starting a little later and said they would meet us at the tender pier and adjust accordingly depending on our ships arrival. Booking in advance and payment was seamless and communication from Michael & Rodrigo was excellent during booking and then the day before arrival to confirm arrangements. The kayaking was brilliant, impressive kayaks that were comfy and fast! Had a great tour of the local area with constant information on flora & fauna and history. Had a little adventure into the mangrove which was fun. Thank you for a great day!

Loved the tour! Unfortunately the Viator listing says that the tour includes snorkeling and snacks at the beach you kayak to and that was 100% not part of the package on the tour companies end. I would recommend booking with Paraty Explorer directly for clarity.

We had a fantastic time. Everyone involved was really welcoming and friendly. The guides also speak English, they are really fantastic, able to answer your questions. The tour on the bay is amazing, including a stop on a beautiful remote beach and a trip through the mangroves if possible. We were beginners and had no problems. A definite recommend !

Unnecessary long puddling which doesn’t worth the effort. finally we visited only one mediocre beach easily accessible by land. Mangrove was interesting, but could be quicker reached from the starting point. Be ready to strangle on the way back as the current takes you away from the land. Not smth very difficult, but we preferred to be warned about it and given better tecnics to cope. PS we are pretty physically fit couple 😜 conclusion: don’t lose you time unless you are a big fun of puddling PS positive side: our guide juliano was a nice and very friendly person, speaking fluent English although we booked the trip in Portuguese 🤣

This trip was a real highlight of our time in Paraty. Michael and his team were great instructors and fun to be with. They were very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife - and we felt completely safe. We kayaked to a remote beach, and through the beautiful mangrove and saw lots of birds and crabs! We would highly recommend this trip to those who enjoy being active and exploring beautiful places.

It was great to paddle around Paraty bay with Paraty explorer kayaks. I totally recommend to take this tour, no matter you are experienced or it is your first time kayaking. The guide Michael was very kind and explained us many things about nature, rainforest, animals... Kayaks are confortable and safe and you can take your things with you, as they are protected in waterproofbags. We also stopped at a paceful beach and relaxed for a while. Lots of fun and beauty, with stunning views. Go for it!

Wow this was an excellent tour. Pipo led the tour and he is just terrific. We did the all day kayak tour. The equipment is excellent. The two person kayaks are stable and fast. The views are beautiful. Stopped at a beach and had lunch at an island. Highly recommend this trip. Rodrigo is also an excellent communicator. They are a great tour company. Everything is very well done. Especially enjoyed being with Pipo, he is fantastic. Thank you.

Wow! Such a great day exploring Paraty by kayak! From the moment we first contacted Paraty Explorer, Michael couldn’t have been more helpful, he gave us plenty of options and we chose a full day tour. Our guide was called Pipo and he was so so nice, speaks great English (also French and Spanish and of course Portuguese). He is so knowledgeable about the plants and animals living in the bay and really enthusiastic about showing you all it has to offer, we saw many different crabs, birds, monkeys, turtles, fish and more! I wish we had planned it better so we could do a longer tour! 100% recommend, such an amazing day!

Brilliant kayaking trip visiting mangroves and beaches! Spotted lots of wildlife. Michael and Peepo were great guides - loads of local knowledge and provided us with a fab day! We went as a group of 6 friends and had lots of fun. Highly recommend!

Great morning out on the kayaks with Michael. He's a super guy who speaks fluent English and Portuguese. We went to a couple of beaches, one on the island and one on the mainland and then headed back through a mangrove forest which was awesome. The beaches were a great stop with time for a swim. We saw lots of birds diving for fish which was very cool and lots of crabs when going through the mangroves. The kayaks were in great condition and Michael was a relaxed and fun guide, a great way to spend the morning in Paraty!

Michael was our guide to a lovely kayak trip to the mangroves in Paraty bay with a beach landing in a magical secluded beach. Michael is knowledgeable, funny and accommodating and made our last vacation day a memorable one. Highly recommended.

What an incredible experience we had kayaking in Paraty! So much fun!! Totally recommend the tour! Exercise within the wonders of nature! Plus, you learn a lot about the local history and endemic species. We had a blast! Definitely a no brainer for nature lovers!

The Kayak tour in Paraty is a must do! The landscape is breathtaking. You can see many birds during your exploration of the bay and many crabs in the mangroves. The guide is super knowledgeable and friendly, which makes the tour even better!

I had a great time on the kayak tour with Michael. It was a bit rainy so instead of stopping on the beach, he suggested a very cool route through the rivers around the town. Going through the mangrove was also a highlight. We saw monkeys, birds, crabs, and fish leaping out of the water! Highly recommend this tour & company

The views of the bay are amazing! We didn’t get into the mangrove area because the tide was too low. But the guide was very good and accommodating. For example, we got pretty tired, so he suggested we paddle to a restaurant where we could rest for lunch. Fantastic food and a relaxing beach.

We loved the kayak tour with Michael! He was a great guide and we were also lucky enough that the conditions allowed us to get in to the mangroves which was really fun. We saw lots of wildlife and got a good workout at the same time. You don't need to be an expert kayaker but be prepared for a little exercise! Definitely worth it, would recommend!

A lovely way to see the bay. Unfortunately we didn't get to go to the mangroves due to tidal conditions, this was no fault of the operator but maybe they could have advised us of this in advance, then we might have chosen a different day to go. Ask about this before you book. The kayak is good quality, all safety measures are taken seriously.

We had a fantastic trip with Michael, kayaking through the mangroves and visiting 2 nice (empty!) beaches. The kayaks were of high quality and we covered, what felt like, big distances without too much effort. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful weather! Our tour guide was so kind! Would definitely recommend. Keep in mind the trip is a bit long so if you’re not a regular kayaker be prepared :) and wear sunscreen!!

Discovering the beaches around Paraty in a 4-5 hour Kayak tour was one of our best experiences there. Enjoying bay and beach(es) with the quiet of a non-motorized boat - which is an exception in Paraty - and experiencing the magical atmosphere and beauty of the mangroves. In addition, our guide Giuliano was very good company and told us a lot about the islands, beaches and their people. Many thanks!

It was an amazing experience for us ! I would like to thanks Mickael for its availability and Pipo who was the guide and was wonderful ! We got the opportunity to row through the mangrove and stop by for taking a cocktail in a secret beach as a break ! I strongly recommend this activity

4 hours of straight paddling with a 20 min break at a beach, so come prepared! Our guide was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us a lesson before the kayaking began and got everyone set up. He even took some picture of us as well. It was cool to go through the mangroves and see the crabs and the beach break was nice and much needed! If you’re not the best kayaker (like me hehe) then make sure the person you’re going with can carry your weight.

We only had two days in Paraty total, but only one complete day. It was supposed to rain, so we thought that kayaking would be more fun than hiking on muddy trails. It didn’t rain after all - and we had a fantastic time. Pipo was our guide - he was terrific. It was a great way to spend half of the day. When we returned, we ate at the quips air at the end of the beach - perfect. Would definitely recommend this experience. Note: we have some (not much) experience with kayaking. The crossing can be just a bit windy and you can expect some waves - it is the ocean, after all. Couples who don’t work well together (synching the paddling) might want separate boats so as to avoid ruining the rest of the trip! But hey - there’s no better place to learn. The guides are great and the water is bath temperature. Highly recommend.

My partner and I had a wonderful experience with Michael and Pipo. Michael was great at coordinating everything and even gave us an orientation session before we departed. Pipo, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the region and about Brazil in general, his taste in music is also praisable. We had two stops which gave us the opportunity to swim and had a chance to visit mangroves and witness the local wildlife. It was magical. We enjoyed the weather so much and wished we could prolong the tour.
