We were a group of 4 adults (two couples). We took two tours. On day 1, we took a 4x4 to explore the waterfalls. Our guide was a biologist who not only took us to the waterfalls but showed us many plants and birds. On the second day, we were picked up at our hotel (Paraty Contemporary Suites was superb) and took us to a marina about 15 minutes out of town where we met our captain, Fabiana. He took us to several islands for swimming and viewing different land and sea animals. We went to a nice marina in one of the islands for lunch. The boat was pristine and very comfortable for four people. Nathan Vitor @Paraty Tours helped me with the bookings and arrangements. He was VERY helpful - thank you, Nathan. If you have only a few days in Paraty, these are two “highlight” tours. We really enjoyed them and appreciated the excellent arrangements made by Nathan and Paraty tours. We took the third day as a rest and relax day at our beautiful hotel. If you are looking for a restaurant for dinner, I highly recommend Caminho do Ouro. The sea bass is excellent (both preparations) and they have a very nice Angelico wine. Our course, you should start with a George du Amado caipirinha!
Very well organized ! Our guides Louis and Pipo were excellent! Our Jeep driver Tuchi made us feel safe and secure. We met so many interesting people from all over the world, shared good food and laughs !
This tour is a must. The guide’s were outstanding, explained everything, and had wonderful attitudes. Book this if you want great service.
6.5 hour tour of waterfalls, a Cachaça distilery, lunch at a restaurant and fortress. The tour is nice but not breathtaking. The dirt roads are bit bumpy, enough time at every stop to have refreshing swim. Lunch is buffet style with plenty of different choices from pasta, salad bar, meat fish etc. Lunch is not included and you pay per weight. Our guide Everton made the trip so much more fun.
Absolutelly amazing trip, one of the best of my life. Pefrect guide, transfer and tour with jeep. Beautiful nature, food and all. 1000% recommendation👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This tour is absolutely worth every penny. It was a gorgeous hike with many waterfalls, the famous rock water slide, delicious lunch break, tons of cachaça tasting, museum, AND ending at a viewpoint. Then at night when they drop you off, its the pure city center for souvenirs, shopping, events, etc. im so overjoyed and not only that. It actually went so well that we made friends and hung out with them later. Its truly incredible. Definitely book it !
Really enjoyed it even if the weather was noce the greatest, the guides and the places we visited made up for it
Guides were good, waterfalls too. Only negative is all the diesel exhaust on the jeep ride. Guessing all the companies have the same issue, but it's noticeable. Get there a little early so you aren't in the back of the jeep.
Was a great experience. Fantastic sights and great drinks. Everyone else on the tour was really friendly. Would recommend to anyone traveling solo.
A fabulous day out at the waterfalls. Everton and Luan, our guides, were absolutely brilliant, showing us all the best places to go in the waterfalls, helping us in and out, and sliding us down the toboggan run which is an absolute 'must do'!
It's reasonably priced, but I think I was forgotten about on the tour so that is why I gave 3stars I am sure others would say otherwise
Today we took the tour to the waterfalls and distilleries in Paraty, but we were abandoned even though we'd told the guides we were going to the bathroom. We had to ask for help from a restaurant staff who knew the tour the guides were doing, and they took us to the jeeps.
Fantastic day out, great fun and very well looked after by amazing guides, Everton went beyond the call of duty to demonstrate how to surf the waterfall in a puddle in the car park! The pace and formality of the day meant we met lots of people and enjoyed sharing the experience, the tour of the distillery was really interesting too, thank you!
This tour was a 10/10. We had a great day. The tour guide spoke every language, which was really nice. He was funny. Nicely organized, it was lovely. Would do it again.
The staff was efficient in checking everyone in with their prospective guides. I would recommend Paraty Tours to our friends.
If swimming in waterfalls and sliding down a huge rock is what you are looking for, then this is exactly what you need to book. On a very hot day, this is a splendid activity, otherwise, it will be cold. The alambic tour and the visit to the old fort are fun also.
Everton is just the best! Smooth ride and lots to learn and see and swim in. Kids loved the waterfalls. Adults liked the cacacha. Everyone loved our host and his steady, beaming stream of local history, plants and hard truths. What a great way to get a glimpse into one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Very nice experience. We were a group of 8 people + guide & driver. Tour was combining waterfall & cachace distellery visit + liqueur tasting. We enjoyed a lot this tour; our guide (edworton) was fun and very friendly ; he made us tasted several flowers with different flavours. I recommend this tour. Go for the sliding on the rocks; We did it .. it was amazing !
Fantastic tour whilst in Paraty! The tour allows you to visit 3 different places, the first stops allows you to see two waterfalls (One for pictures and the second you’re able to stand under if you wish), be careful it is slippy! There is also opportunity to swim at the first stop if you are brave enough to embrace the cold. The second stop is the distillery, really interesting as you’re provided with a talk about the history and how Cachaça is made and then you get to taste many flavours!! Then you head for lunch at Restaurant Poco do Tarzan, we ordered chicken, rice, fries and beans for two it was delicious and the portion was huge! It cost around 128 Brazilian Reals. Then you get the opportunity to slide down the waterfall. Brilliant day, there was only a hand full of us who spoke English but we had our own guide! He was very friendly, knowledgeable and allowed us to have a brilliant experience. Although the other guides had minimal English, they really went out their way to make sure we had a brilliant time! It was an incredible tour, plenty of opportunity to relax, eat, drink throughout the day! There are bathrooms at the different stops if you are wondering. We made friends with three lovely women from São Paulo!
We thoroughly enjoyed the jeep experience, even though the weather wasn't great. It was varied and informative and the tour guides were all friendly and helpful. Our jeep was full of fun people too which was an added bonus. Highly recommended!
The tour lacks a proper tour guide. There's a lot of people taking the tour at the same time, so there are several jeeps that take everyone to the spots. Each jeep supposedly has a tour guide for the people traveling in it. The whole ride to the spots is taken without any information given, and on arrival the information provided by a tour guide is very lacking. The distillery tour is super quick, and very unorganized as well. Unless one is really close to the distillery guide, you'll miss most of the information. He doesn't wait for everyone to hear.
We had a great and fun experience with this tour! The tour guides were so very friendly and attentive to making sure everyone was safe at all times. Really recommend this tour for anyone! The restaurant they took us to was amazing also
To be honest this experience was of waste of time, places were nice and guides super helpful and friendly but we felt like we were in a herd of cows, each agency took too many people at once, too many people EVERYWHERE (around 50 everytime) too many cars… it ruined our experience. Tourist trap.
Nice well organised tour. Great advice from helpful Gabriella in the sales area. Her English was great. The Jeeps were comfortable. Cachaca distillery very interesting. Lunch stop was lovely. However the waterfalls were a bit too far to walk. And too steep unless you have reasonable fitness.
Many agencies operate jeep tours with similar itineraries in Paraty, and definitely Paraty Tours is a good choice. They can easily cater to non-Portuguese speakers like me without keeping us apart from the others (which for me is preferable so you can still interact with some local tourists) and they are well-staffed, with guides who are friendly, helpful and always are mindful of your safety. They also don't squeeze too many people into each jeep, which allows for more space + more opportunity to get to know everyone in your vehicle. The tour was also well paced, with just the right amount of time given at each stop (including lunch), especially if you want to swim at each of the waterfalls where it's allowed. As they make clear in their publicity, the tour is not meant for those with limited mobility / fitness due to the walking / hiking involved, but it is still very manageable. The itinerary is very waterfall-heavy though, so if you don't have hiking + swimming / viewing multiple waterfalls in mind, you may want to choose another tour. On the whole, Paraty Tours is a very reliable agency and I'd highly recommend them - shout out too to Rosa (?) who was very friendly and helpful in managing my booking for my airport transfer to Guarulhos Airport.
This was an excellent tour. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and informative and made the excursion super fun! Would definitely recommend
From the minute we talk to the agent Gaby and the second we got dropped off at our hotel by our guide Everton was an amazing experience. Every minute was a positive blast. Extremely recommend Paraty Tours, they accommodate my mother in law capacities, we have a nice and pleasent time, no rush, very informative, fun and relax. We can’t wait to come back to Paraty and experience couple more tours w them. A+ agency Thank you Gaby and Everton keep it up. Excellent team right there!!!!
Nice trip with a 4x4 jeep. To several waterfalls and a Chacaca factory where we did a tasting. Also the lunch restaurant was good. All was very well organized by Paraty Tours!
It rained all day so my review is influenced by this. It would have been more fun if we could have swim in the rivers. It was just too cold. It would have been fine on a warm day. We enjoyed it anyway. The cachasa tasting was interesting and all your drivers were friendly spoke English.
Professionnel team the driver and tour guide were friendly and very nice. We had visited many beautifyl place. Even the restaurant was good and i am muslim the tour guide helped me to choose halal food. Thank you very much
I took this excursion offered by a cruise line when we were anchored here. The roads are bad and bone-jarring but they take you to several wonderful waterfalls and a brandy distillery. Access to the waterfalls was a bit treacherous and strenous and this is not for anyone with mobility problems. We were in the Bocaiena National Park. Excellent tour. Two guide to each Range Rover.
We were in Brazil for a few weeks and went on many tours, but this was by far the worst. The main issue was that the tour was oversold - we couldn’t possibly enjoy any of the stops due to the sheer number of tourists on the tour with us. We’d read reviews that this company take large groups due to it being the most popular in Paraty, but our tour had at least 60 other people spread across 8 cramped Jeeps. This meant it was impossible to take a photo without waiting in a lengthy queue, and then your photo would be ruined by the hoards of people in the background. Lunch was a complete disaster. We waited an hour for our food, a portion of chips, and a further 40 minutes for our drinks. We then had to queue for 20 minutes to pay. We had problems with the restaurant staff that our tour guide told us she’d stay around to help with, only for her to disappear downstairs with the rest of the tour guides who all knew how disastrously it was going. Two chips and two drinks cost us £25. Everybody in our jeep asked to go back to the hotel rather than the last stop, and I know of at least two other jeeps that day that did the same. The only positive is that the tour itself was cheap, but two hours in I would’ve paid more for it to end. Choose a smaller tour company in Paraty, it’ll probably be just as cheap and it will definitely be a more personal experience.
The tour was perfectly thought in all the details. We left around 10:30 and were back approx at 17:00. It was well balanced between natural stops (waterfall and forest) and visit to cachaçarias. The driver was amazing, and even if the road was not the easiest, we felt almost nothing. And the guide (Juan ai think was his name) explained us about plants, and animals, and flowers, and histoey of the area.
Amazing excursion, my family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers loved every part of it! Very reasonably priced and great value.
My elderly mother and I took this tour and the service all the way through was amazing. My mother doesn’t walk well and all through the day the driver and guides did all they could to help. At the final waterfall we were told it would be very difficult for her to walk there. As an alternative to waiting for the rest of the group to tour the fall, they offered to take me to see the falls and take some pictures and then to drive us back to the hotel. This we accepted and feel very grateful for. I highly recommend this company for its professionalism and friendliness.
We spent a day in paraty but unfortunately it was a rainy day. So we chose this tour without beaches. Anyway it was interesting and amusing, some of us also had bath in the falls and slides in the natural stone slide. The guys of the agency are very nice, we had Luana as guide and she was great.
The tour was excellent. Altough it was raining, the temperature was very bearable and I could fully enjoy this experience. The landscapes were fascinating, I could feel close to nature. Guides made this tour even better, they are very lovely, always smiling and giving information about each area we visit. In each site, they left the group some time to wander around, take some pics (if interested) and maybe talk to locals at their shops.
Quite disappointing although to be fair the poor weather didn’t help. Seemed quite rushed and some of the potential panoramic views were not considered. Guides although pleasant didn’t provide any information about where we were during tour. Also there was no information regarding gold road landmarks. Additionally, there were so many people that it was difficult to get pictures without someone else in the frame. Often felt like we were being herded around. And, when we stopped for lunch the priority was to get the tour guides fed while the customers had to wait and smell their food. Then also charged for service and some additional bizarre tourist charge when they wouldn’t have had any customers without us anyway!
I went on this tour on my own, while traveling around Brazil, and it was definitely worth it. The staff was amazing, not only the guide but the drivers too. They are really helpful and, in my case, our driver (Iván) even took us to a cheese shop for a tasting after the official tour. Although the tour is longer than the 6 hours scheduled I would recommend it for everyone.
Perfect, better travel service. Everything practical, punctual, and very kind!!!!!!!
Unmissable trip, everything was organized by the manager of Pousada Arúa, trip to waterfall, forest, distilleries, natural places with spectacular views. Perfect for all ages, the family enjoyed it to the fullest. Lunch is served in a rustic, yet very comfortable restaurant. Thanks for every minute 🫶
Very beautiful day. Pleasant waterfalls, well-organized tour, very good lunch break (tasty and inexpensive), excellent guides (who speak English). Very pleasant views of the city with little monkeys in the trees.
Very good trip to the waterfalls, excellent guide, and in an equipped Jeep. We stopped at a Cachaça factory.
Paraty Tours overwhelmed in all the activities we did with them! From the transfer from Rio de Janeiro (go and go) to boat tours (fished 3 with them) to Jeep Tour! All are super professional and nice, the boats a delight with excellent food! Super recommend any activity with them!! Thank you very much, you made our trip to Paraty be magical!!
This jeep ride will take you to super fun waterfalls and a traditional restaurant. ALL Paraty drivers are knowledgeable, careful and understand that you should be shaken up in the back when you drive rough. Tribute to these drivers
We sat with 6 people plus a guide and driver in an open jeep and visited the various stops (waterfalls, distillery, restaurant). Overall, everything went well. We can recommend the trip with a clear conscience. It was a fast-paced event!
A very enjoyable jeep excursion to beautiful waterfalls where we were able to enjoy a swim in some of their waters. Excellent support from our guide Luan. Very attentive to the entire group. The visit to the distillery was very interesting, and the attention from their staff was also very good.
Very nice day discovering the forest , waterfalls and a small distillery of cachaça. A top guide. I recommend this activity.
It was fantastic!! The guides (Flor, Andre and Everton, among others, were great. Andre was very attentive and careful with my 88-year-old mom. My 12-year-old son took too much! Unforgettable family tour! Very worth
