Be careful when booking this hotel. We were driving to Paraty from the Rio GIG airport when our gps went from a 3 hour drive to 10 hour drive because route 101 was closed to due to mudslides and flooding. We had been watching the weather and over 70 people had lost their lives in that region because of recent flooding so we turn our car around because of safety reasons. This hotel didn’t seem to care about our situation and decided to keep our money and not even give us a credit for another time. It was three rooms and over $4000.00 US dollars.

In the very heart of charming Paraty, Pousada Literaria is a heaven of calm, aesthetics and high class service. Everything is pleasure to your senses. Nice restaurant with fine and well prepared local food, open to the public so reservation advised.

Location is fantastic, breakfast delicious, a great spread every morning, buffet style and a la carte. Also have a small but lovely pool, and spa with a great list of services, very attentive and helpful staff. A little oasis in a bustling historic city full of tourists. I just suggest they open the rooms when not being occupied, my suite had a musty smell of a place that never airs. I would not skip lunch and visit to their Fazenda Bananal - it's a reserve farm 10 mins away, scenic and lovely.

Superb pousada! Beautiful structure! Caring and trusted staff that goes above and beyond to provide the best experience, delicious food for breakfast, at the pool and their own restaurant nearby. This is the perfect place to relax and disconnect, surrounded by lush green, peacefulness, where one can watch little monkeys play and hear birds sing from the heated pool. The suite and bathroom were spacious, beautifully decorated. Nice spa and gym. We loved our stay and will certainly be back!
