Myelin was a wonderful tour guide. Thoughtful and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this wonderful city and her experiences in it.

This walking tour was super. Casco Viejo has so many interesting places that I would not have known about even after exploring several days on my own. I'm disappointed that I don't remember the name of the tour guide. Super nice and very knowledgeable guy. And a school teacher. Loves to share about his city. And it was fun seeing him interact with the parents of his students as we walked around. certainly a 5 star tour. I hope he'll respond to this and remind me of his name.
This was a wonderful walking tour of Casco Viejo! Our tour guide, Heavenly, was very knowledgeable, and provided a great deal of information and history about Panama and the history of Panama City and Casco Viejo. She answered all questions that we had, and ahowd us some wonderful sights!
It really was a wonderful experience and very informative. My only issue was the tour did not end at the place. It started as it was said in the directions, and we were kinda left in the middle of a place, we had no idea where we were
We had a wonderful walking tour of Casco Viejo with Eustacio. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and engaging throughout the tour. He shared so much about the history and culture of Panama and Casco Viejo, which made the experience both interesting and enjoyable. Eustacio was also very personable and took the time to answer our questions along the way. We really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend him to anyone visiting Panama City and looking for an informative and enjoyable walking tour
Maria was friendly and very knowledgeable. She was happy to go at our pace. We learnt a lot about the history of Panama, but also about the different people who live here, coffee production in Panama and the story behind Panama hats. Very good value for money.
Our guide spoke English well. He was very proud of Panama's old town World Heritage status. He had stories about nearly every building. It was a leisurely, pleasant walk that included a couple of "cooling off" stops as well.
Amazing guide and amazing experience
We didn’t move outside of the one block in 45 minutes. Mostly it’s standing and listening to a history lecture. I always enjoy city tours but this is the first time we left a tour early. There were other groups that seemed to be moving around and exploring will try a different one but our group of 4 did not have a good experience on this tour.
Our guide Mylin was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful history of Panama and specifically about the old city. From Panama hats to the Canal, we learned so much! Would highly recommend this tour
Great tour and would highly recommend! Eustacio was very knowledgeable - it was just my husband and me, and we felt the tour was catered to what we were interested in. Eustacio also gave great recommendations for places to eat in Casco Viejo, and we ended up eating dinner at one of the restaurants after the tour. Thank you Eustacio!
Very informative but redundant and slow to get to the point. It was good to learn the history, but the guyed did not have to name each individual and provide quite so much detail. The tour could have been shortened by half and provided the same amount of information, and allowed us to go into some of the places the guide talked about.
This was very informative but kind of boring - we stood outside of each stop for a very long time and did not cover much area. The tour was long enough that we could have gone into some of the places that we discussed. We learned a lot but could have learned that much in less than half the time without all the repetition and so much detail.
Elmer was very knowledgeable about the history, geography, and culture. He even helped me schedule a coffee experience for the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Our guide was excellent! He knew everything about the area. The history, dates timeline. He is a walking encyclopedia! Very friendly as well.
Amazing morning with Marlin learning about Panama's history in Casco Viejo. Marlin was so knowledgeable & passionate about the rich history she conveyed so much information with enthusiasm & showed me books with pictures of the people she was talking about. I’m so glad I took this tour - it was like being transported back in time - the only regret is that I did it on my last day there instead of the 1st day because there were so many places I wanted to go back to visit. Marlin brought in personal touches too & pointed out where her Dad used to wait to ride the elevator in the grandest house owned by the Arias family. Would recommend this tour- 5 stars all round! Fascinating & fun - Marlin was an excellent guide.
Elmer was excellent and very knowledgeable. I learned so much history and current information as we saw beautiful parts of the city. I highly recommend!
Elmer was very knowledgeable. Kind and informative. I learned a great deal.
Elmer was a wonderful tour guide. Explained history of city and neighborhood and its many historic sites. Pointed out the blend of diverse architectural styles. He was very attentive and gave us a sense of the rapid development and restoration of this old neighborhood and its many beautiful churches as and squares.
My tour with Elmer was great! I am traveling solo and felt like the tour was really thorough and it’s clear how much Elmer knows about the old town. This particular day the area was alive with music, dance performances, and the Brazil/Pamana soccer match. I would recommend touring with Elmer anytime you visit Panama!
Amazing tour! Very informative and engaging, Elmer made everything interesting and easy to follow. I learned so much and really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend!
Huge shoutout to our tour guide Elmer for making our street tour through the old city such an amazing experience! He showed us the best spots for souvenirs, shared so much interesting history, took great photos for us, helped carry our stuff, and brought us to some incredible sites. Such a kind and knowledgeable guide — I’d definitely recommend him to anyone visiting!
Richard was very good. It was just my husband and I so it was like visiting a city and having a friend show you around. It was a good two hour walk. He gave all sorts of good information about the history of Panama, the city and even Latin America. I highly recommend.
We booked this tour after we saw the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. Richard, our tour guide was so knowledgable and we learnt so much about the history of Panama. It was really good value for money especially when it was just my husband and myself.
Richard did a good job at showing us all around Casco Viejo. You can tell immediately he has a ton of knowledge about the city and his country. I’d definitely recommend to anyone wanting to learn about the city.
Elmer was an outstanding guide. He answered all of our questions and was very knowlegeable. He was cognizant of the heat..walking in the shade when possible and going in and out of air conditioned churches and museums.
The old quarter is small but this walk makes you think it’s bigger than it is. We walked by the major churches but the tour doesn’t take you inside any of them nor did it highlight what was unique about each of them. It does walk you past the major buildings and the parks where vendors are waiting to sell you things
Our guide was very well educated about the area and its history! He answered questions very effectively!
Elmer, our guide, was excellent. Very knowledgeable aboout old town. Wonderful walking tour. Would do this trip again
My husband and I had a private tour with Elmer who was a great tour guide. Casco Viejo was beautiful and we learned it is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
In February 2026 we spent the 1st night of our trip to Panama in the historic district of Casco Viejo, Panama City, at the lovely La Concordia Boutique Hotel, near the (highly recommended) Cafe Coca Cola. Walking back from dinner, we stopped at the Mini Super Santa Ana convenience store on Calle 12 Oeste to get some things for the morning and saw the Aurora Cantina directly across the street. Having researched "Dive bars within walking distance of La Concordia Boutique Hotel" ahead of time (iykyk) I was aware of the general location of the Aurora but hadn't been able to find any reviews online. We decided to walk over and have a cerveza, and after thoroughly enjoying the Aurora Cantina, I decided it was time someone wrote a review. This review is not meant for those looking for a 'cruise ship in port for an afternoon' version of a local bar. Nor is it meant to be anything short of glowing and sincere (in fact, we had such a fantastic 1st day and night eating, drinking, sleeping, and exploring Casco Viejo on foot that when our trip home was delayed by 3 days due to a canceled flight, we opted to scrap our planned airport hotel prior to departure and instead return to the Old Town, and to the Aurora). The Aurora Cantina is a colorful neighborhood staple, a community gathering place and a well-run no-frills bar steeped in local history. It is partially open-air, and dimly lit. There is table and bar seating in the front room with restrooms (for customers) in the back, and room enough for dancing in between. The well-stocked bar with coolers of beer, seltzers, sodas, and juices runs the length of the cantina space. The juke box is always playing, and the tv above the end of the bar is always on. The cantina is open most days, all day; if the gate is up and the swinging doors are open, so is the Aurora. The outside is decorated in pretty murals of local scenes, and the original artwork continues on the inside of the bar. Many walls in the time worn gem feature vibrant 1970s psychedelic art of animals and powerful nudes in various exotic locations and positions. The Aurora is staffed by the most welcoming, gracious, entertaining bartenders who without a shared language still kept the conversation going and the cold cervezas coming. They introduced us to Panamanian Telenovelas while we returned the favor with games of dice (purchased per die from a big plastic bin at the Mini Super across the street)! The drinks are strong and are priced well below other area bars that cater to a more typical tourist crowd. Although we were visitors in the Cantina, we were greeted like old friends from the neighborhood every time we walked in. Some of my favorite memories of Panama are of time spent together in the Aurora Cantina. Highly recommended.
I ended up on a private tour with Ricardo. He was very knowledgeable about Casco Viejo and Panama City as a whole, and we alternated between English and Spanish so we could both practice our skills. I highly recommend this tour if you're at all interested in Panamanian culture!
We had such a great experience at Casco Viejo with a wonderful tour withElmer. He was full of knowledge and experience at Casco Viejo. Panama is full of history that we enjoy so much.
Alex as a great tour guide and he had a lot of information about the area. Alex is very educated about is craft.
Julio adapted our walking tour to fit our wants and needs. We went to the Geisha coffee experience and learned about cultural aspects of Panama life. He’s a great guide and I would definitely recommend him!! Well worth it!
Perfect experience to learn about Casco
Interesting to see the old town. But the tour guide seemed to be frustrated that UNESCO is funding the updating of the buildings so very negative.
Elmer our guide was very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond what was expected and gave great suggestions of other things to see an do. Highly recommend this tour with Elmer.
The tour was everything I could have asked for. I was the only one in the tour and Elmer treated it no different than if it was full. I was very happy with the experience.
Ricardo was a great guide!!! Very personable and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the fascinating history of Casco Viejo!!
Elmer was very knowledgeable about the area, history and buildings. It was a very enjoyable experience. He answered all my husband’s questions. We would definitely recommend.
Ricardo is an exceptional tour guide and did a fantastic job. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and ensured we had a great experience.
We did the Old Town Panamá tour combined with a visit to the Panama Canal at the Miraflores Locks. Very informative tour, and our guide, Julio, was excellent. Very knowledgeable, able to answer all questions and was very good humoured. Great tour, would recommend it highly.
Fantastic overview of Casco Viejo, I highly recommend doing at the beginning of your stay in the area. Lots of interesting information about the history of Casco and the country.
Elmer was great! Took my friend and I on your thru Casco Viejo and pointed out all the good spots we should visit, and told us about the rich history of the area. Highly recommend!
Great experience and views of Casco Viejo, Albrook and the Panama Canal. We also visited the Panama Canal Administration.
Very knowledgeable and shared both cultural details as well as “current affairs”. Good pace and the guide’s English was great.
Roderick was skilled, polite, funny, took care about the group, reacted on individual wishes. We do not believe that there is any better guide for Panama City available. Ulrich & Regine
Julio was very knowledgeable and you can tell that he loves his country. He was very punctual and a pleasure to tour with. He also offered some other interesting ideas for our trip.
An excellent tour by Ricardo; very knowledgable and really brought the history of Casco Viego, to life.
