Private Fishing & Scenic Cruise – 27ft Proline | Taboga Island

We went to relax on and around Taboga Island and Lino, our captain, was great. We were at Taboga on a weekday so it was quiet and peaceful. We hung out on the beaches a little and then we took the boat to a quiet cove where we could swim. We tried to fish but failed to catch anything. Lino provided just the right amount of information about the area and then let us relax. The boat was spotless and well-stocked. I would do this again - or do it with a large group for more of a festive atmosphere.

Lino and Alfredo made our fishing experience memorable, we caught a Dorado and they offered to prepare a ceviche for us while still at sea, I was skeptical for a moment but agreed. Alfredo filleted it to prepare the freshes most delicious ceviche I have ever had. great experience!

Such an amazing day. I always wanted to see Panama in all its beauty and we were able to do it all. When we were having fun snorkeling they tailored the itinerary to allow us to do just that. Then we had a super fresh lunch with a whole fried fish for me, brought to the shore so we could enjoy it on the boat. And then still had time to explore the islands. This is worth every penny. 10/10.

The boat was very good the staff were very nice and professional but were not bilingual like advertised which made communication very difficult. We made the most of the day but I do not think they were fishing experts based on what I saw with how far back from the boat we were trolling the size of hooks and bait for even bottom fishing, but it was hard to communicate where or what to just try to catch anything for the kids. I understand fish are not promised. So we went to the beach to swim and got stung by jelly fish as we swam into the island and beach. Apparently they are prevalent this time of year and you can’t see them. We finally gave up as we were trolling in the middle of the ocean and they did take us towards the canal which helped salvage a rough day on the water. Once again staff was great and boat was great but were hard to have a personal experience with lack of communication. The only guy that spoke English came and got the final payment and pushed us out to sea. That was just our experience but met others that had very good ones.

GEM charters is professionally managed and the staff is responsive and trusted. We had a great trip with our Captain Miguel who was accommodating, flexible, and very knowledgeable about the area and history.

Best experience ever. Miguel and Alfredo were amazing. We saw whales , caught fish, swam and snorkelled. Our family of five can’t wait until we can come back and will definitely go with this company again.

It was simply AMAZING! We had a beautiful day fishing, I caught two fishes, plus the amazing scenery watching humpback whales, a group of dolphins jumping around and two turtles mating. What an experience!

A great day on the boat! We enjoyed fishing around the islands, swimming in a cove, exploring and lunch on Tabago, and sunset cruise up the canal and around the city. Moises and Alfredo were great captains/guides and had the boat stocked with ice, beer, water, and Gatorade. Moises even made our reservations for lunch and arranged for our golf cart transport on the island. We loved every minute of our trip!

A great experience, even tho it rained (just for a little bit) the crew made everything work perfectly. We were treated like royalty and I'm absolutely sure we will return. This is the best Charter Company in Panama for sure!

We really enjoyed our tour! We were promptly picked up at our hotel and taken to the boat. Once we arrived we asked if we could change the itinerary at the last minute and they graciously accommodated us. The boat was comfortable, clean and well maintained. The captain and first mate provided top notch service. We enjoyed Tobago, swimming, fishing and seeing lots of wildlife. We finished our tour with a great view of Panama City. This was a great find! We decided to book this at the last minute and they responded right away and accommodated our group. The boat was clean and comfy and we all fit in it comfortably. Our captain and all of the crew was awesome and took great care of us. They cooked the barbecue for us and it was delicious. We couldn't get enough. The floating pool was everything. It was the perfect day and everyone in the company was very professional, friendly and took wonderful care of us. I will pass along their info to everyone I know.

The entire experience was wonderful from booking to return to our hotel. Eddie worked with me to design a great charter for the day for our party of 9 and helped arrange transportation to and from our hotel as well. Miguel and Oscar, the crew, could not have been more accommodating, fun, and caring. We left the dock at 6am on our 47 foot Viking. The air conditioning was already on inside for those in our party that were not the most excited boat people. By 6:30 after a quick harbor cruise we had lines in the water and proceeded to catch 13 fish over the next three hours. Our crew knew what they were doing and helped many of our kids feel like accomplished mariners. We then went to Tobago Island for snorkeling and the beach. It was here that the crew made us some ceviche to go with the cold drinks they had packed on board for us. Before the day ended and we left back for the dock, Miguel allowed us to wake Board “Panama” style being pulled behind the boat with ropes and boogie boards. It was so much fun for the kids and such a nice touch making the experience even more fun. I’ve been able to go on many fishing charters and snorkeling adventures separately but this was the first time that I was able to combine both together with the family. And the crew made it memorable and awesome. I highly recommend the GEM Charter crew in Panama to you - especially if Miguel and Oscar are on board.

What an amazing trip! Miguel was an excellent guide and showed us a great time. He was able to put up with my old grandparents AND stubborn cousin who all he wanted to do was fish. Wonderful funfilled day with friends and with Captain Miguel. An attentive and safe captain who made sure we were enoying our day on the water and during our time spent on Taboga Island. Informative about the fish, the canal and Taboga itself. Highly recommend for families and groups of friends.

My wife and I travel outside of the US often to experience the different cultures, food, and also have a little fun! One of the activities I try to slip into the agenda when she allows me too is fishing. It was easier with this full day charter because it also involved a little stop off at Taboga island, which is always good to get to see places like that when you can. The trip did not start off well....... but that was my fault. Had a little dental issue that forced me to change the original day of the trip to the following day, but GEM was able to accommodate us! We arrived at the dock little before the departure time of 6AM (Get out there to fish early!). For those who have not been to Panama, they have a major tide movement in and out of 18 feet or so. Very important to know which marinas you can get in and out of depending on the tides. Miguel was our captain/ tour guide/ Friend for the day. Great personality and was willing to talk us "Newbies" through how the canal system worked and answer a lot of questions from us. We went on the 27' proline boat that accommodated us well, it was a smooth ride and enjoyed the fishing with some Jacks and Bonitas caught. Taboga is a cute little island and the little restaurant there was Delicious, get the Ceviche for sure!! Thanks GEM and thanks Miguel for the great time!

My family and I decided to book a fishing day trip to Taboga island, we were 3 adults and a 8 months baby. We were a bit concern because it was the first time for the baby to be on a boat. The whole crew made us feel super safe and took all our worries away, they really are expert not only in fishing but in security and in safety. Not only we were able to catch a Mahi Mahi, but on the way back we had the pleasure to see a family of whales! Definitely a one una a life time experience. I strongly recommend Gem charter for any type of trip and specially with kids. We will be sure to come back!

We celebrated a friend bday party, it was super fun, we had a very nice and safe trip!!!! Can't wait to do it all over again!

We met with Captain Miguel and Gem’s well equipped 26’ Proline with twin 150 hp Yamaha four strokes at 8 am. After a prompt check in with the feds, we were off and running. Very quickly, it was obvious that Miguel loved fishing as much as we did. About 10 minutes into trolling diving birds and crashing bonitos, we caught our first couple of bonito. Not a few minutes later and just outside the ocean buoy, we had a double of Spanish mackerel and dorado. Then, on our way to lunch, we caught a very nice bull dolphin that Captain Miguel expertly gaffed on the first try. A great asado at Tabago, and then back for some afternoon trolling. We are eating dinner of fresh mahi we took home now. Excellent. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 💯

I cannot really describe how amazing this trip was with GEM Charters. Since we made the reservation, the GEM team was very useful providing all the coordination and information that we needed to know in advance. They offered us a free beverages and food catering, so we did not have to worry about food and drinks before the trip. They also offered pick-up service at the hotel to take us to the port. As soon as we left the port, Captain Miguel made us feel we had also hired a tourist guide since he explained to us many interesting facts about Panama City and the Panama Canal. We were able to appreciate a panoramic view of the bay of Panama and the canal, then we went to start the first objective of the day: fishing. We were very lucky because we were able to catch large fishes, including mahi mahi (which I totally love). The Captain was in charge of filleting the fish, and he prepared the freshest ceviche of mahi mahi that we had never tried. A delicious and unique flavor! After several hours of fishing and achieving our goal, we headed to a beautiful island of white sand and crystal clear water, Isla Taboga. We all enjoyed the afternoon there, we had a walk to get to know more the island and had lunch at a local restaurant to try the Pacific Ocean cuisine: fried fish, octopus, shrimp, coconut rice and fried plantains. Amazing flavors that I hope to be able to try again! I am very grateful because absolutely everyone enjoyed the trip, we would never forget this day. I totally recommend it for children and the elderly.

Panama is a beautiful country, very clean and safe. We stayed 5 days in a resort 2 hours from the city to enjoy the Pacific beaches and returned to the city for 3 days to enjoy the tours as most tours depart only from the city. We went to San Blas, beautiful but very rustic special for adventure lovers. We knew the Panama Canal, this walk should be done preferably in the afternoon. Albrook Mall is for a whole day, good deals.

The experience was great, the boat is an impeccable Viking 46. We went with my family and 5 children, friends of my son, all 12 years old. The Captain and assistant, excellent, respectful, proactive and professional. We fished a lot and we really had a great time. I reserve the photos since they include children who are not my children, but if I showed them they would be from a magazine. We will return.

They are definitely too excellent a team, 100 in attention and comfort. I went with my husband and 9-month-old son and we felt very safe from departure to arrival to the island and back.
