Private Fishing & Scenic Cruise – 27ft Proline | Panama Bay

We purchased the 4-hour fishing package in Panama Bay. We met at the marina at 6am - Plenty of free parking. We were on the water by 06:20 and started fishing around 7am. Caught our first fish (Mahi) at 7:17! We caught a total of 5 fish, including a twofer/ tripleheader (caught a Blackfin Tuna and Almaco Jack on the same lure and another Blackfin Tuna on the high line at the same time)! We skirted thunderstorms and had great conversations with the captain and Moises. We were back to our car with tons of fresh fish in ice by 10:20!

Operator stood us up the morning of our trip because they were double booked. They did not tell us until we were about to leave the hotel so I had to pay the driver who was going to take us. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if they had told us sooner, but we also missed out on the opportunity to do other things on our short vacation.

Amazing views! I went with my family (9 on board) and we fit comfortably. We took a 2 hour tour over Panama Bay and had a great time thanks to Yoel and Oscar, best tour guides in town!

Just a beautiful trip. The best fishing in Panama by far. We went to Taboga Island for a snorkel, some fresh seafood and fried fish!

Our trip started great. Some heckling by guide in context of my fishing experience (which he didn’t know) but I excuse that to just guy talk. We caught a few fish, which I’m grateful for. Beautiful views. Nice boat. We were prepared a bowl of mahi mahi for lunch. Cereal sized bowl with lime as condiment. Fresh fish was good but very small amount. Rest of my mahi mahi was put back in cooler. When we finished trip, we asked about fish and they said “oh we give to the dock guys”. Mind you, before trip I tipped 100 dollars, because I to am a guide on my families ranch for hunting. I know what being a guide takes and service that should be provided. I tipped additional $75 upon pulling up to dock before I asked about fish being cleaned and taken. Once they had that second tip I felt like they wanted us off that boat asap. So I guess I paid $700 for a bowl of mahi. I guess were just cheap half day clients….

The captain and his assistant were so courteous and helpful. We really enjoyed the views and the boat ride- it was so relaxing! The boat was super clean and looked even better in person! We hooked up our music to their bluetooth and we had a great time! we highly recommend Gem charters!

Took my 4 grandsons 11-19 years of age fishing with Gem. They had a blast and were successful in all getting fish. The captain and crew were very helpful keeping an eye on them and helping them catch and land their fish. No hesitation in doing it with them again.

What an experience! The crew were really caring and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. The captain even taught us about the Panama Canal and the boat routes, it was super fun! 5 stars, and highly recommended for anyone visiting Panama and curious to learn from experienced locals about Panama and the beautiful Canal.

My wife and I had a fantastic morning of fishing with Capt. Miguel and his deckhand Oscar. They took us offshore to the outer edge of Panama Bay, where the coastal shelf drops off and the feed is plentiful. In short order, we hooked onto a fish and I landed a nice Mahi-Mahi. A little later, we also had 4 Bonito hit all at the same time and I landed two of them. Oscar fileted the Mahi and made a delicious fresh civiche out of a piece...best breakfast ever with Ritz crackers and a cold Balboa! Thank you guys for a wonderful trip! We both give Gem Charters two thumbs up and totally recommend them to anyone wanting a quality time out fishing!

This was a great experience! We were able to get a last minute booking. The staff communicated well and was quick to respond. We did 4 hours in the evening and it was just enough time and got to see the sunset. Miguel and Moses were great to have on board with us.

We chose to fish with Gem Charters. The day was everything we could have hoped for and more! The captain and mate were so polite, knowledgeable and professional! We caught 2 nice Mahi, one of which they made us fresh Ceviche right there on the boat! Delicious!!! The boat is very nice and excellently kept. We felt very safe and had a nice sunset to follow us home that evening. We highly recommend Gem Charter!

The captain got us on some fish and kept us catching them at a slow but steady bite all day. The targeted species wasn’t biting but we were still able to take back a lot of meat for the grill.

We had an excellent day fishing with Jose. We caught a lot of fish and enjoyed a beautiful tour of the area. We found the service to be truly exceptional. For example, when my wife indicated that she was feeling sea sick, Jose flagged down the charter's sister ship and found her some medicine that quickly made her feel much better. We also enjoyed fresh ceviche and sashimi from the fish we caught. Eddie helped organize our day and was very helpful and professional. Eddie went above and beyond to help us when we had a challenging experience with our bank. Overall it was a great experience.

I did a half day of fishing with Miguel and his assistant on their 27' proline. We caught a lot of fish and miguel is exceptionally professional, enthusiastic and capable. We left at 2pm and caught bad weather late afternoon. No problem...miguel pulled us into a cove, we were covered by the top and during what could have been a miserable time miguel and his assistant made various types of sashimi (one with soy sauve and other ingredients and another with lemon and other ingredients) and they were upbeat, confident and talkative. Miguel kept us fishing through most of the rain until the lightning was bad, and I loved that enthusiasm. They're fantastic!! We also saw 3 humpback whales nearby

We had a fun outing on a beautiful boat! We cruised by the Panama Canal, the beautiful skyline of Panama City, went to a beautiful beach where we swam and snorkeled. Overall a wonderful experience with a very professional and attentive staff! I highly recommend them!!

The Gem charter team worked with me every step of the way to schedule a tour that fit a really tight schedule. They schooled me on the benefits of a late afternoon charter instead of the usual early morning trip I’ve made before. Pick up, fishing and drop off were flawlessly on schedule. I’ve fished with several different captains over the years. They’ve all been great. Miguel was awesome. We rocked some great music and caught some big fish.

Eddie was a great Captain and put us on some great fishing. The trip to the island was great. The mate, Edgar whipped us up some nice ceviche with one of our fish...can't get any fresher than that.

Excellent deep sea fishing experience. Captain Miguel and first mate Pedro were great. We caught 5 different species of fish I including a baby shark (which we threw back into the ocean). We had a a wonderful time. The tour took us through the gulf of Panama, Panama Canal and Tobago Island. The Captain was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thank you!

Miguel, our captain/ tour guy was very friendly, we had a great afternoon, fishing big mahi mahi, eating fresh fish, watching the sunset from taboga and closed view of the canal!!! Fabulous!!! 1000% recommended!

My family had such a great time in our first trip to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we took another trip for my daughter’s birthday. Our captain, Miguel, was excellent in all areas, including finding tuna and mackerel to catch, cooking on his grill for all 6 of us (inc two vegetarians), and creating some fresh ceviche. Eddie was very professional and flexible, esp as we prepared the decorations and surprises for my wife’s bday. We highly recommend GEM tours for a fun and memorable experience around Isla Taboga.

Great experience on this fishing tour for the whole family. We never expected to find Dolphins and Whales on this trip it was just amazing!!! Great chatting with our captain Miguel who managed to make sure everyone had a special day.

What an unbelievable experience! Everything was well coordinated and taken care of for us. We fished, snorkeled, saw whales, some rare birds and a waterfall. I never expected such an adventure from one trip. Miguel is a great captain and very experienced in fishing and the area. I will definitely use them again and I fully recommend them.

My son and I took a leap and decided to charter Panama Gem for a fishing trip! We have never done anything like this before. Our Captain Miguel and his aide (so sorry O forgot his name) were Won-Der-Ful. We felt safe, included, cared for as we learned Panama from a waterfront view... not just fishing but life. Our stop in Tobago was wonderful with nice lunch, easy walk, beautiful chapel! But the best—— was the beast we caught! Memories for ever! If I could tell you how excited we were, how gracefully he cleaned that fish on the boat and how delicious it was!!!!! We will treasure this always!

We opted for the half-day fishing trip and enjoyed a relaxing morning ride out to the bay. We caught several fish and had a blast trolling the Panama waters. The guide was great, made us fresh ceviche from the mackerel we caught and was very knowledgeable about Panama and the local area. I highly recommend this outfit to anyone looking to charter a fishing trip in Panama!

Great customer service in all parts of the process. My two friends and I decided we wanted to do a last minute fishing charter and they were able to accommodate us easily. They tailored a unique fishing expedition for us. Early in the morning, we got out on the water with our friendly and knowledgeable capitán. Upon entering the fishing grounds, we caught a few Sierras and a good size Dorado. Later, we went to a special spot where we were able to catch dozens of snapper, jacks, and smaller fish. We were able to keep these fish and prepare them for dinner, so be sure to bring a cooler or check with a local restaurant that could prepare the catch for you. All in all, they provided a quality service for a reasonable price. It was custom tailored for us (we wanted to do more fishing and less sight seeing) and they brought everything from the pamphlet on board. It was all done for us, super simple and just an all around great experience. For those serious about fishing, I recommend doing the 8 hour tour. We only did the half day and caught dozens, so imagine what a full day would entail!

My group of 15 chartered the large catamaran and had a great experience the entire trip. The captain took us to an island with a beach and then took us for a tour of the bay by the city. The boat was well equipped and had everything we needed. The back office is very professional and has systems in place to ensure successful coordination prior to the trip.

I already knew Gem when I came to Panama in 2015 and I had a great memory. This time I did the sunset cruise with my husband and my 4-month-old baby. I don’t have the words to describe the incredible afternoon we had. The staff were very caring, they took out the pool (my baby loved it!) and for the barbecue they even took vegetarian sausages for me! It was delicious 🤤 We went all the way to Taboga Island and back we enjoyed the sunset over Panama Bay. My husband learned fishing while mom and baby took a nap in the master bedroom. We booked another afternoon with them to go to lunch this time in an island restaurant that was also delicious. Thank you to the entire Gem charters team for their Welcoming, kindness and good humour. We will return to Panama just to experience again, next time we will go further to las perlas or discover another island!

To warn you that this company has misled us. We had to make modified boat at the last minute too small. They overloaded us, for their mistake we were ready to go. Trapped, very bad experience. Fishing null , snorkling in low brown tide view no fish, brown beach delay in morning departure .........

Didn't book the trip 24 hours before departure and everything worked out perfectly. Communication in English and totally uncomplicated. 50% were paid by bank transfer and 50% cash handed over on site. At the pier we were picked up and after a bit of paperwork we started. The captain was great, friendly and very experienced and could tell us a lot about the surroundings in good English and of course knew where the best chances of a good catch were. He kept his word and we made good catch (2x Mahi Mahi + 1 Tuna). Equipment was top and reliable. The tuna was still filleted on the boat for us and we could eat it only 15 min after it was out of the water. Everything was taken care of, even soy sauce and wasabi were on board, which rounded it all off. The rest of the tuna we could take with us and eat at home, the other two were also filleted on the boat and given to us in. In addition, a wide variety of drinks were ice-cooled on board and were available without limit (incl. beer). In addition, we could play our own music. It was a really great experience that you don't forget so quickly. Would book the trip again immediately and can only recommend it to anyone. You really get a lot for your money! Clear tip for a good day and 100% referral rate.

I have made this trip several times and I really recommend it very much. You feel safe and very well taken care of. We arrived in Taboga in the afternoon and stayed there for a couple of hours. The beach was quiet and we could see the sunset of Panama from there. On the return we had dusk and the view of Panama Bay at night which is very nice too. I can't wait to repeat it.
