We had a very enjoyable experience! Our guide, Natalia, was a pro! We were impressed with her thorough knowledge and expertise in hearing and spotting birds. We saw and heard (mostly saw) 52 kinds of birds in a span of 4 hours. She knew good places to go to find birds. In addition to her birdwatching abilities, her personality was very enjoyable. She was kind, thoughtful, patient, and very helpful. We truly enjoyed our experience and would like to do it again. We highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys birdwatching!

Soberanía National Park is the most accessible national park from Panama City. It's perfect for a nature-filled day trip with the whole family and is only 45 minutes from the city. The park is located near the banks of the Panama Canal and spans around 22,000 hectares. It contains a dry tropical forest, numerous species of birds and animals, and is crossed by the Chagres River.
Gamboa is a small town in Panama, situated on the Chagres River and near the Panama Canal. The town is surrounded by forest and wetlands that are home to diverse native bird species. Many of these birds live in Soberanía National Park, which is also inhabited by sloths and jaguars. There are numerous plant and animal species, including the harpy eagle. To the west, the massive Gatun Lake was created during the construction of the Panama Canal.

Great experience. Natalia is an excellent guide who was able to spot so many different animals that we would never have seen without her, and was very educational! She was very patient and accommodating as we were traveling with our toddler. Everything was very well organized and easy with no stress on our end about logistics and on time.
I had a great day with a Vincent. It was so nice that he picked me up at the hotel so I didn't have to get an Uber. He spotted and identified tons of birds. I was able to get pics of most of them...even an anteater.
Natalie was wonderful - very knowledgeable and great at finding and showing us birds. She was also great at taking photos of the birds through a spotting scope. We even saw a few rare birds! This was a wonderful tour. We walked 4km: bring comfy shoes and bug spray.
Knowledgeable guide who took her time and explained the birds and animals that we saw. She recognized bird calls and could spot them well. We saw all 3 species of toucan, both 2 and 3 toed sloths, a lizard, dragon flies, butterflies, howler monkeys, and about 20 or so different species of birds. We booked a private tour but ended up having one other couple with us and it worked out great. Small groups or private are the way to go!
Our experience with Clary was fantastic . As fellow nature nerds, we were incredibly impressed at her breadth of knowledge of wildlife in the area and talent for spotting creatures in the forest. We even saw monkeys, sloths, and caymans in addition to the birds. For any bird or nature lovers looking for an in-depth, intellectually stimulating tour, we recommend Clary 100%.
Amazing experience and a very knowledgeable guide that knew all about each bird and where to spot them. This was our first bird watching experience and we are now definitely keen to do something like that again. The rainforest birds and animlas are amazing start, too. Highly recommended!
Great day! Saw several monkeys and many birds. Clarival Sanchez delivered. Highly recommend this adventure
Walking slow and easy over 2K, bug spray should be used too. We saw over 30 birds and monkeys too! Great!
Knowledgeable guide, some exclusive areas, enjoyed every minute!
Natalia was absolutely fantastic - firsthand knowledge where one might find birds (not necessarily just following pipeline road), and an excellent ear for finding them. Understood my goal of photography and helped facilitate the right conditions for that. She has a great eye for finding what many other people, miss (including other guides). Highly recommend if you’re looking for the real experience.
We had a great time on our birdwatching tour today. Thanks to Clari’s knowledge and experience, we saw tens and tens of birds of different species and had a lovely walk in the rainforest down Pipeline Road, which is stunning. I am so glad we chose to go, and thank you Clari.
This was an outstanding morning in Soberania National Park. I was looked after by Juan our driver and guide Clarivel. I saw many species of birds; lizards, an agouti, a red-tailed squirrel, howler monkeys; a white-faced capuchin; stunning butterflies; a dragonfly and of course the famous leafcutter ants. Clarivel is extremely knowledgable and has an incredible eye for spotting birds from far away. A 5-star day!
Wonderful experience! With Clarivel as our guide we saw 49 bird species, a silky anteater, a troop of Howler monkeys, iguanas and even an agouti. Some of the birding highlights were a Toucan, a Puffbird, a Xenops, a Euphoria, a Woodcreeper, a Shrike vireo, a Tiger Heron, Jacanas, a Crake, Motmots, Trogons, Antshrikes, Antwrens, Antbirds, an Ant-tanager and, needless to say, ants. We are beginner birders and Clarivel was able to help us locate the birds easily.
Yina was extremely knowledgable about birds and was able to show us a wide variety of species (including a toucan!). She even brought us binoculares and taught us the basics of birding. We had a wonderful trip, and appreciated the round trip pickup and flexibility on timing. Great way to see nature and amazing animals
Focused birding excursion. The guide was a true birder, not just somebody who deals with tourists. One nice thing about Panama is that great birding destinations are very close to Panama City, and an old US Govt. pipeline road provides easy access (by foot) to a rainforest.
The birds watching tour in the Pipeline Road with Natalia was absolutely amazing. We have seen a lot of birds, monkeys, sloths, and other animals. An excellent tour in an amazing environment.
I had a great time with Clarivell and Juan. Originally I missed my original booking since my hotel wouldn’t allow the car in, but everyone at the company worked hard to get me the tour since that was my last day in Panama. We’ve seen lots of cool birds, monkeys and sloth. Even though the trip was cut short by rain, we just drove around and looked for animals from the car. Overall great experience
This was supposed to be a hike along Pipeline road, but it was more driving around through neighborhoods and congested roads. We did get to pipeline road, but we drove down it instead of walking. We did see quite a few interesting species of birds so it's wasn't terrible, but not really what we were expecting.
Our guide Natalia was excellent! She was extremely knowledgeable. And she has the eyes of a hawk! She showed us birds and animals we didn’t even know were there. Overall a wonderful experience! Thank you.
Thank you to Panamanian Aventures for a wonderful experience birdwatching...many thanks especially to our guide Gabe. He's knowledgeable, personable and passionate about birdwatching. We would definitely recommend this tour.
Our guide was knowledgeable and was able to find several birds for us both outside of pipeline road and on pipeline road but I found the Viator description of the tour to be misleading. We expected to have 2 hours to explore Gamboa and then 3 hours on pipeline road for bird watching. However, the time spent in Gamboa was obviously also for bird watching. The birds we saw in the Gamboa part of the tour were fabulous and for this I must give our guide credit but it just wasn’t what we expected as our friend was not as much of a bird enthusiast and we were only able to convince her to come on this very pricey tour because we would also have time to tour and experience Gamboa. The posting in Viator made it sound like our 2 hours in Gamboa were not part of the bird watching tour.
This is a must see trip. Will appeal to novices and advanced bird watchers. Guide is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful
I went on this tour with Natalia bird and animal watching and she was really terrific. Her knowledge of the different birds and animals on the Pipeline Trail in the Soberania national Park was quite impressive. She came fully equipped with a special camera that could study the birds and animals at very long distances. This trip could easily have gone at least a few hours on the trail, and unfortunately, I got very ill from dehydration, and I told Natalia we needed to turn around after 40 minutes. Therefore, make sure you bring plenty of water and I highly recommend this tour for individuals groups, and families.
Birding with Natalie. Picked up on time 6 am Saw well over 50+ species. Her ability to hear, see and identity and spot with a lazer pointer and telescope were amazing. Took some great photos and sent them to me. I have been on several bird tours in the world and this was the best Swamp area and pipeline road.
I had a fantastic time with Archie. He's so knowledgeable about the birds and has the eyesight of a hawk! We saw 56 different species of birds in the rainforest in the time we were there.
Our birding half Day tour with Natalia was amazing! She is a very experienced guide, found birds I would have never seen. She was patient with all of our questions, and was kind enough to honor our request to leave a half hour late. I would highly recommend this birding adventure, I now have several new lifers!
My husband said our guide, Natalie is world class. She could spot every bird. When she heard the sound, she could easily locate the bird. Most importantly, she could clearly tell you the location of the bird!!! We wish Natalie every success in her birding tours!
Natalia arrived promptly and was a great guide to see birds and mammals on the pipeline trail. We enjoyed every minute of it.
The tour operator did not seem to coordinate well with the guide. It was a rocky beginning (guide was an hour late due to traffic) but once we got going it was a great trip. We walked the Pipeline trail and saw lots of birds and other animals. Natalie was very knowledgeable about the birds. She recognized their calls and could spot a bird amongst all the foliage.
Natália was extremely knowledgeable about all the birds, plants, fungi and mammals we saw. She had a good eye to see everything. Very rarely did she spot something before us. Often times she would know an animal by sound alone. We previously recorded some birds from a few days ago and she was able to identify them by sound (our videos were really bad quality). The 4KM hike along pipeline is relatively flat. Every few meters we were stopping for a new animal.
Our guide, Yina, was wonderful. She spotted bird after bird in the dense rain forest and identified them immediately. She scouted the area along the Gamboa pipeline for the best angles to shoot magnificent birds. We would not have seen half the beautiful birds without her. The experience was worth every penny.
The guide yina was extremely experienced and generous with her information. She was personable and a pleasure to be with. We learned a lot and saw a lot of things normally not seem. She had an incredible bill to see things that I would’ve never had picked up in nature. She was Passionate about what she does. I recommend her Highly
Despite rain and even a closed road Archie brought us to many habitats and spotted many Panamanian birds including a magpie, rarely seen here. All other birding guides knew him and gladly exchanged tips.
Picked up at the hotel at 6 am. clary is a very good guide and already knows the species of birds by their sound. Immediately seen 2 species of Toucans. During the tour very many different species of birds seen. The tour we highly recommend
The activity has been wonderful, and more with the best guide (Claribel) in Panama! We have seen many birds, and we have been able to photograph them calmly and at our own pace. 100% recommended
A very good excursion to see birds. Very well organized, with a Pro Guide. The route is simple, but the location of the birds in the jungle is complicated. It helps a lot to go with a good Guide to see the birds, know their customs, and enjoy the excursion.
