Panama Crafted Geisha Coffee Tasting Experience

What an absolutely amazing experience. Maybe the most personalized coffee experience I have ever had. By far the best I have had! Would highly recommend this if you want to either learn about specialty coffee or the process of it being made and rated, this is for you. Best two hours I had in Panama !

For coffee lovers, this is a must. Alan is super knowledgeable and the experience was different than any of the other coffee tours/tastings we have done. We really enjoyed it.

This was one of the most informative presentations that I have attended. Julio did a great job of explaining all the nuances of coffee ,both preparing and tasting. This is by far one that will remain in the memory banks. I highly recommend that everyone should attend this , it does not matter if you know nothing about coffee or are an expert, you will walk away with a new perspective on coffee. And a new friend named Julio.

This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. We had the chance to try six different specialty coffees, all from Panama, each showcasing unique production processes and regions—and the differences were genuinely eye-opening. Every cup tasted distinct, which made the experience both fun and fascinating. Alan was our coffee expert and was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and brought such a great energy to the session. Always open to chat and answer any and every question we had. He broke down what actually makes coffee “special” in a way that was easy to understand without dumbing anything down. You can tell he's passionate about what he does and not only that, but he's actually actively involved in the coffee world! Beyond just tasting amazing coffee, we walked away with a much deeper understanding of our own preferences and of the extensive process and importance of the coffee trade. What flavor profiles we enjoy, what to look for, and how to better appreciate coffee going forward. That alone made it worth it. Fantastic (and English-speaking friendly) 2-hour cupping experience from experts with international judging experience for a great overview of coffee and its relevancy to beginners, everyday drinkers, and also coffee enthusiasts. You can tell they really enjoy their craft. Highly, highly recommend!

Awesome experience. 6 tastings, many steps they walk you through (dry, wet, multiple tastings, guided cupping with a certified coffee judge). Both Alan and Julio were so welcoming and kind and answered our many questions. Super fun for a day with friends!! Great recs around the city as well.

You must do this! It is a tour for everyone. Comfortable air conditioned room. Excellent English and Spanish. It is Informative, fun and tasty. Learned so much about the processes. Don’t confuse this with the hotel and museum. You will taste 6 coffees here. Best hour we spent in Casco Veijo!

This was an excellent experience. Alan is, like many Panamanians we’ve met, a delightful and friendly man. On top of that, his knowledge of the coffee process and experience is superb. While we know a little about the roasting and brewing technique side of things, Alan really showed and taught us a lot about the process which brings the beans to the roasting stage. Truly fascinating and his descriptions and explanations are very clear and accessible. A short talk about coffee processing was followed by a coffee tasting on a truly professional level but not intimidating in any way. Truly fascinating to practise a little of the skill professional tasters use in assessing coffee. This taught us a huge amount about the flavours imparted by different processing plus a lot about the coffee grown in Panama. Gave us an entirely new perspective. To top it off, Geisha coffee was included and it was amazing to experience what a fascinating and delicious coffee it is. Unlike any we’ve tasted and truly special. My wife and I couldn’t recommend the Crafted Geisha experience more. Already a high point of our time in this wonderful country. Thanks Alan!!

Let me tell you!!! I learnt something new today. Before the Tasting experience, coffee was just coffee, a hot drink. Now I have a better understanding and appreciation of what all is involved from growing to the finished product in my cup. Time well spent

We had the most fantastic specialty coffee tasting experience with Al and Julio! We all enjoy drinking coffee but knew very little about the nuances between all the different varieties and processes that go into producing it. We learned heaps, got to enjoy tasting the most delicious coffees, and loved the chance to spend a couple of hours with Al and Julio who are two of the nicest (and most knowledgeable!) chaps you’ll find. They were both so generous with their time and also recommendations for other awesome things to do in Panama (and of course where to find the best coffee in the city!). Thanks so much for a wonderful experience and we would recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting Panama who enjoys coffee!

Blown away by the team at Gato Solo and the incredible geisha coffee experience. We’d looked around for an authentic experience knowing that roasters do it best - and the team delivered. A pro-style coffee cupping really enhanced our knowledge and the after-coffee served up different ways blew us away. Would highly recommend for the coffee enthusiast.

this experience was intense, informative, and fun! the owner is very passionate and the team is friendly and helpful. we learned a great deal about the coffee "lifecycle", from planting to harvesting to roasting to tasting. the blends provided for tasting were superb and we left with a large bag of goodies. the location is a little hard to find as the is no signage on the outside of their building, but a team member was floating around and guiding visitors.

This was a great experience! I was flying out on this day and wanted to have one more fun experience in Panama. I was the only attendee on this day, so the event was very memorable. I definitely recommend this.

This is an exceptional tasting experience. Alan was very helpful and responsive for coordinating. And the coffee experience advisor was knowledgeable about the entire coffee value chain. He gave a thorough almost like a lecture of how different coffee processes work. Finishing with both pour over and expresso form of the Geisha with a great complexity and texture. Absolutely one of my favourite activities in Panama so far.

Firstly, I call them the Coffee Trinity 🪽 Gianca is the Designer. ☕️ Paulette is the Heart. 💞 Allan is the Business Mind. 🪶 I was met (more like rescued from being completely lost 🤣) by Paulette whose welcome is as warm and inviting as the coffee experience you are about to have. 🫂 Then I met the designer. There is hardly anything more exhilarating and beautiful to watch than someone who enjoys what they do with all their five senses. Gianca is a coffee conoisseur but beyond that he is a Coffee Designer. I have never been asked to think of coffee as a Colour 🌈. His experience engaged ALL my senses. 👁️👃👄 Then…there was the moment when I tasted the most perfect cup of coffee …and literally…tears came to my eyes🙊. I met The One ☕️. That roast was a ‘mistake’ Gianca said…so I taught him how that is said in Jamaica🇯🇲 “Buck up”- a beautiful mistake. Lo and Behold The Buc Up Geisha Coffee 🎶 *cue Ave Maria sung by a choir in heaven*.🎶 As I brew my coffee in the mornings now…the air is suffused with the memories of this unforgettable experience as the scent of coffee wafts through time and space just before I take that perfect sip…miles between that first sip and that last lessen like an isthmus… I feel immensely blessed to have met them all and had this experience.🦋 You must have this experience! We got to sample a variety of Panamanian coffee and learn about the entire process, from farm to cup. The hosts were welcoming and passionate about their craft and would answer whatever questions we had. At the end, if there's a brew you enjoy it's also possible to buy a bag of beans to take home.
