Very professional service. All tour guides had good knowledge about the tour. We recommend Barefoot Panama.
We did the Panama Canal (Miraflores Locks) and Panama City ( Casco Viejo) Tour. Our guide was very personable and interesting. Very knowledgeable about Panamá and shared information and stories from start to finish which were both informative and humorous. The Miraflores Locks were interesting and well worth the visit. Then we headed to Panamá City for the walking tour. Turned out the “ring road” around the city was closed, along with another route. We were stuck in traffic going through Casco Viejo for 2 hours. Many times not moving. Due to this situation, there was no walking tour. Our guide tried to appease us with stories and info, but we were so disappointed with the situation it didn’t help much. Apparently he told us there are very good Panamá traffic apps that warn and advise you about traffic and closures in Panama City. It was very unfortunate that a Plan B wasn’t considered for such a situation, and that we ended up trapped in traffic with no option but to continue trying to get out of the City. Once free of the city, we stopped for a great lunch and a very needed nature walk, which took the tensions down a couple of notches. Even saw a few sloths!
Kevin Was a great tour guide We where picked up at our door. History and land marks pointed out on the drive into Panama city. Tickets for the canal and Imax. Stopped in the old town and had a walking tour. Recommended a local shop for luch . First rate. Do not hesitate to book
I did both the Panama City Day tour and the round trip day tour to Colon to visit the Gatun locks and San Lorenzo Fort. Kevin was very helpful and responsive in booking and confirming the tours and Jorge our guide for both tours certainly knows his stuff. Aside from his knowledge of local history, cultural influences and current life in Panama, he is engaging and has a fun sense of humour. He met us at the scheduled time and was flexible in adjusting the tours to meet the interests of the group. You wouldn't go wrong with Jorge as your guide. The van for both tours was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Highly recommended!
The guides for all of the tours are punctual, helpful and friendly. On 4 of the five days, the vehicle was comfortable. Overall nice arrangments.
Great tour. He was a very knowledgeable guide, he was a walking encyclopedia and very gracious. We highly recommend him.
Jorge was great. Some of our family only speak English, Some only Spanish. He was great at accomodating us in that manner and all others. If I truly was searching for a recommendation to make I would suggest grabbing a case of water to distribute. Add it to the cost if necessary. But again just constructive criticism. Everything was perfect. Quality and cleanliness of transportation, Uniformed tour guide, Respectful and punctual and very accomodating. Our group of 12 ranged from 4 years old to 90. Not an easy group to manage. Jorge did it with ease!
Levy was our tour guide. We had a super great day. He knew the knowledge of everything in front of him when any question was asked. They were on time courteous and said a pace that matched the clientele. Highly recommend this and any other tour by this company
Very poor communication. Kevin O’Brien is an inadequate and disrespectful leader of the company. Would stay away from this company.
Went with tour guide Jose. He was excellent. He showed up on time and got into the Canal in time to get the best spot to see the boats coming through the canal. He will keep Pushing but will slow down if you want to purchase or see anything that may interest you.
We really enjoyed our tour! It was well structured but relaxed, informative yet entertaining! I am really glad we went! My only advice is to pack water as it was quite hot and it was not always available for purchase.
Barefoot Panama provided an incredible experience for our camp participants and staff. Kevin worked with us to customize the week, which ranged from a walking tour through Casco Viejo, to snorkeling in the Bay of Portobelo, to ziplining, to an insightful tour of Wounaan Village. Big shout out to our tour guide Jorge, who provided entertaining and interesting details about Panama as we explored the country, and was an absolute joy to work with. You should definitely book Barefoot for your Panama travels - they provide a safe and enjoyable experience for you as you see all that the country has to offer!
The tour was great and visit to the Panama Canal was very exciting. The guide Gocho was awesome, friendly and very knowledgeable, he explained a lot about the history of Panama. Loved the tour and highly recommend it.
Greatly enjoyed my tour around the city, Elmer was an amazing guide and had a lot of interesting things to say about the area and its history.
Bare foot is an excellent touring company. I booked 3 tours with them based on Kevin’s (the owner) recommendation. This gave us great taste of Panama City. All his staff are very knowledgeable and extremely courteous. I would strongly recommend them for all your tours in Panama.
Our tour guide Jorge did a great job bringing us to the key spots plus some custom stops that we wanted to go. Highly recommended!
We did the Panama Canal/City tour with Jose. He spoke excellent English and as it was just the four family members and him it was a “private tour.” His vehicle was very comfortable and he was always opening and closing doors for us. He was very knowledgeable and guided us to the best areas of the tour for the best views/photos. Old town can’t be missed when visiting Panama City. We were fortunate to miss alot of the crowds as it was Carnaval week and most people had left the City. This tour came highly recommended and did not disappoint.
Our cruise ship had a full day stop in Panamá City and Kevin arranged an interesting tour for our group of 6 people. Jorge, our driver/guide, was a joy to have. His commentary was excellent and he gave us the time we needed at the various stops.
We were a group of 8 extended family members. We spent 3 days with Barefoot Panama. We did the Canal and City tour, the Monkey Island & Indigenous village and finally, the Caribbean Adventure. We were lucky enough to have Gonzo for our tour guide the first 2 days. Gonzo was great at giving us more and more information about our locations, the history of the places or the people we met. These were 2 fantastic days. Our Caribbean Adventure was enjoyable, but we did not realize the amount of driving around that we had to do. We were gone from our hotel for 12 hours. The smirking was just ok, but the zip line was great. Juan was a good guide, but we got very little information outside of the basics. We stayed at the Westin Playa Bonita and that made this day a lot longer because of traffic delays getting back. Overall, Barefoot was a great experience.
Excellent tour! Gonzo was a terrific guide and we genuinely enjoyed our tour with him. He was punctual and gave over a lot of information.
First of all, I need to let you know that I had only 4 hours to make a tour, as I had an 8 hour layover in Panama...so I was really pleased to be able to make my own choices of what I wanted to see and do. The pick up and the drop off at the airport was seamless. I didn't have to wait, Kevin was waiting for me. I really liked the walking tour of the city and also the IMAX of the Panama Canal. It was perfect for the time that I had, and I felt really secure as a solo female traveller. I would definitely recommend.
I've been on several tours in several countries. This was by far the best. Most experienced tour group I have ever seen. If you want to see Panama City, the Canal, and Old Town, book this tour. They can handle small groups and groups of 100 or more.
Jose was awesome. We were a little crowded in the car, but we made it work. The actual tour was great, saw a great deal of the city and surrounding area. The canal exhibit and show was first class. And Jose took us to an authentic Panamanian restaurant for an incredible lunch. I would do this tour with them again. Well done, punctual and very hospitable. Thank you.
We loved it! We were a group of 5 and the tour fit perfectly into our short stay in Panama. Seeing the canal ticked one more thing off our bucket list. Thank you so much.
A long way for a short time at the snorkeling place. No water, No snacks, lunch and beach chairs extra. It was a lot of money for a driver. Very unprofessional.
We were looking for a short day tour of Panama City before our trip to Bocas del Tory and Barefoot Panama was recommended to us by our hotel in Bocas. Kevin was helpful in making sure the tour length could be accommodated in our schedule, and then happily moved our tour to a different day when our airline travel from the States changed unexpectedly. Gonzo was our tour guide and we couldn't have been happier. He provided so much history and background context for the sights we visited, starting with the Panama Canal. When the van unexpectedly broke down, he was so mortified, but quickly a second driver was arranged to take us to the Smithsonian Center, and then Gonzo met back up with us in Casco to lead us on, again, a very informative walking tour of the area. I definitely recommend Barefoot Panama and ask if you can get Gonzo as your guide - he was great!!!!
This is an excellent tour of some of the key sites in Panama City. Gonzo was a wonderful guide - he speaks perfect English and has so much information and knowledge to share about the canal, Panamanian history, wildlife and nature. While you can visit the Canal visitor center on your own, we appreciated having Gonzo with us to explain more in depth about the locks and history. The visit to Punta Culebra was great for our kids -- the highlight was seeing so many sloths! Gonzo's knowledge of Casco Viejo was also incredible and doing this tour with him on our first day was helpful to orient us to the neighborhood we were staying in. Great communication all around during the booking process, timely pick-up, and very professional company. I highly recommend this tour and Barefoot Panama!
We have done a few tours with this company. Always amazing Looking forward to the next one . Amazing suggestions for lunch , informative and so fun
The personal attention was fantastic. Jorge picked us up at the airport and drove us around town while he kept track of the schedule for ships to go through the Panama Canal. There was some type of traffic jam at the Canal. He took us to a place at the mall called El Trapiche for lunch and I was very hesitant because I asked for authentic Panamanian food. He said "trust me" and I'm so glad I did! Everyone dining was a local and the food was delicious! He walked with us around Casco Viejo, including a fabulous coffee shop called Unido. We finally made our way to the Panama Canal just as a huge cargo ship was making its way through the channels. Perfect timing by Jorge! He then dropped us off at our hotel. The price included airport pickup, Panama Canel & iMax movie, plus a personal tour guide. We only spent 1 day in Panama City, and it was perfect. Highly recommend!!
This was extremely well rounded. We got to see a little bit of everything. It was a fabulous introduction and a good way to spend your first day in Panama, so you can see where you want to spend more concentrated time. Guide was excellent! Due to a national holiday, we were unable to go to the nature park, but they tried to show us sloths in the wild anyway, and we saw some!
The views were all awesome. It was a treat to see Panama City, the Panama Canal and Casco Antiguo! The experience was so much more than a tour-it was like a crash course in Panama history! I have been on multiple tours with Barefoot Panama and all of them were excellent. The locations are beautiful and the vast kinowlege of the tour guides make a tremendous difference on the tours. The next time I visit Panama I will tour with them again.
Very complete tour with a knowledgeable guide. We were well looked after by Kevin throughout. He came to tell us when it was time for the IMAX movie to start at the Locks. When there was terrible traffic entering Casco Viejo Kevin knew an alternate way. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
Great tour with knowledgeable guide. Saw everything and got the inside story about the city and the country. We’ll come back.
great experience! exceeded expectations! our tour guide was Jorge. took us to the canal which is super impressive then we went to casco viejo which was a gem. lots of good souvenirs there. had a nice panamanian fish meal for lunch. then zipped over to the conservatory where we spotted sloths hanging out. well organized and stress free. definitely better than just going to the canal by yourself.
We're from Toronto and were visiting with our sisters and husbands from the UK. Jorge met us on time and drove us to old Panama City where we toured the Spanish Colonial buildings, which are very attractive, and wandered through the narrow streets. Jorge took us to a lovely coffee shop and explained all the local coffee varieties. We spent about 1.5 hours in the old town. Afterwards he took us to the Smithsonian Education center where there are aquariums with local sea life and students (who speak excellent english) to explain their backgrounds. There were also at least 10 wild sloths who live in the trees and which can be seen at quite close quarters - a special surprise! We then went for lunch in a typical Panama restaurant with local foods, although Jorge would take you anywhere you requested for lunch - lunch is at your own expense. Afterwards we went to the Miraflores locks and watched a tanker ship transit through - about 1 hour complete with explanations on the lock workings. There was also a 45 minute 3D IMAX film on the history of the canal which was great. Throughout the whole tour Jorge engaged us with interesting facts and was extremely friendly and helpful. We had booked this tour before leaving Canada and Kevin always responded rapidly to email enquiries. We highly recommend Barefoot Panama and will use them again!!
Great day seeing the city and learning about it's history in a small group setting. Jesus was very informative and got us to all the highlights - and in spotting sloths :). So efficient getting us into the Panama Canal with pre-paid tickets and knew what time of day was best to go as the ships go through at different times. The price was fair, especially given it included entrance fees/pick up and drop off at our hotel. The communication with the company when arranging the tour was really great as well. Highly recommend!
Loved the tour including the walk in Casco Antiguo with the churches and the architecture. The Guide was awesome and knew how to make us enjoy the day.
Gonzo was a great tour guide! There were two couples and a family of 4 on our trip. Gonzo was great with all ages, pointing out things that would interest the children as well as being conscious of the limited mobility of one of the adults. Although there were no ships going through the locks at Miraflores when we were there, the IMAX movie was amazing. We loved seeing the city center, the aquarium and the old city. Great tour!
Fabulous! Florida without all the commercial Business developments! Much better than Florida! From Chicago All the Best!
Our guide(Gonzo) was fantastic and so knowledgeable so we were off to a great start from pickup time. Our boat driver had 'eagle eyes' at spotting wildlife & calling monkeys! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk in the jungle and wish we had more time exploring, sightseeing & taking in the beauty of the jungle. The village we saw was incredible and we really were captivated seeing the close proximity to the modern big city yet living in such primitive dwellings. Wish we could have had time to chat with the villagers and experience more of their day to day lives but we knew time was limited. Loved the dances they all performed for us & we got to partake it! I give this experience a superior rating as this was a once-in-a-lifetime Panamanian tour! Bravo all around & highly recommend this tour!
We loved our very personal and intimate tour around Panama City and the Panama Canal w Janet - it exceeded our hopes and expectations - we had an amazing day and ending it w a shared meal was also a highlight - we saw soooo many sloths and iguanas and birds - we loved the whole day and tour - high value and highly recommended
Our whole experience with Barefoot Panama was fantastic. We did this tour but privately as we only had one day in Panama City. Kevin made all the arrangements including our tour guide picking us up from the airport and taking us to our hotel afterwards. Our tour guide, Levy, was also amazing. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to; the places we visited were just what we wanted to see, including the Panama Canal and seeing a sloth at the Smithsonian Institute. Highly recommended.
This was a great experience and trip through Panama City's main attractions. Our tour started early in the morning so that we could get to the gates of the Panama Canal before they opened up for all the tourists. we spent the day exploring the old town, Amador Causeway, Cerro Ancon, and the visitor center at Miraflores Locks. The highlight of the day was lunch at a local spot where the food was downright amazing and 100% packed by locals. Outstanding guide service by Horhay who knew the city and history inside and out. We never felt rushed as we walked through the nature center to see sloths (seven of them), the canal, and all the shops in the old town. This was the perfect way to kick off our vacation in Panama City and gave us a bunch of ideas and places to revisit throughout the week. It was great not to have to stand in line for anything. All tickets, taxes, and fees were included in the tour price, and WELL WORTH IT! We had an absolute blast and highly recommend this tour!
We arrived in Panama City by ship. We were met at the port by Maty. Once we started using What’s App we found each other quickly and were soon on the way to the old Panama Canal locks. Maty timed our visit so we would see a large cargo ship in the locks. We not only saw that one but two others as they maneuvered through the locks. Maty was extremely knowledgeable about the history and operation of the canal and locks. He answered all of our questions. We had time for a coffee in the visitor center before seeing the IMAX movie narrated by Morgan Freeman. While we were slightly reluctant we thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the information we learned from it. Maty then took us to Old Town Panama where we wandered throughout the city visiting shops, churches and other historic sites. The biggest highlight was the arch which had survived numerous major earthquakes and convinced the canal builders that they could succeed despite all the obstacles. We ended our day having a scrumptious lunch which included typical Panamanian delights. Maty then returned us to the ship. We would highly recommend this excursion from Barefoot Panama. It’s a great way to learn about the city, its history, and the canal. Maty was the perfect guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and attuned to our needs in organizing the day. By the way prior to arrival I had several conversations with Kevin O’Brien the company’s owner. I found him to be helpful and responsive to all of my questions and requests. You can not go wrong booking a tour with this company.
Jorge was an excellent guide. My wife and I had a great time with another family of visitors. We saw all of the sites metnioned in the descriptions and had time to eat and leisurely wander around casco viejo. I highly recommend this tour.
Gonzo was an amazing guide. He knew everything. No question went unanswered. His driving was very safe.
Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Nice canal zone tour with imax tickets included. Old Town tour was just enough walking.
Jorge was great. After a small miscommunication on the pick-up spot, we were off and walking. He let us set the pace. Unfortunately, there were a few things on his normal walk that were not available/closed and he didn't really have anything to fill with. Still a very good experience!
Kevin went out of his way to make sure that I made the most of my one day in Panama City. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Panama City and made the walking tour of the old town fascinating. The tour included the other things I wanted to see - the Amador Causeway and of course the canal. He is obviously very experienced and knows how to organize a tour to optimize the group's time.
