What a great experience! Felt super safe riding through the streets as there is a leader, someone to stop traffic and a follower. Frequent stops to rest. Our guide was very knowledgeable!! Super impressed all round.

We covered so many areas and learned so much about not only the Panama Canal but also the history of Panama. The bikes are in good condition and the roads are definitely doable. We would totally do this again and recommend this tour to anyone who likes to cycle, learn about culture and history and cover many areas at ones. Jonathan was really nice and gave us tips about other places in Panama as well. 10/10 would recommend.
Jonathon was a fantastic guide. He Was very informative. We had Aaron as support who made sure we were safe on our comfortable bikes. Jonathon led us through 6 very differing neighbourhoods including Chorillo where he & Aaron grew up. We then stopped at a fantastic viewing point towards the Bridge of America & saw some very big ships going under the bridge towards or away from the Canal. Time was not an issue. Jonathon wanted to make sure we had the best experience. Highly recommend.
This is a great bike tour of the Canal Zone in Panama. The guides which we had two , one who guides in the front and the other who stays at the tail this helps to keep you safe in traffic etc. we were a small group as just myself and my wife were the guests. They equip you with a helmet and an ear piece to hear the descriptions and traffic advice from the lead guide. They do a great job with the historic information of the areas you travel through concentrating on the Canal Zone’s history and the people who lived in the areas the architecture and the current situation in each zone. Highly recommend this tour.
Nice bike ride visiting the canal administration building and to an overlook of the Bridge of America Our guide was very knowledgeable and made sure everyone stayed safe.l
The earpieces were great and the guide had so much to tell us! The route was great and busy but not too bad. Jonathan pointed me towards a restaurant for the evening and with his rec I got a free pisco sour ☺️
This was a great tour that explored the vast difference between the US developed canal zone and the neighboring local areas. Johnathan was a great guide with a lifetime of experience growing up in the hood. Excellent organization for this tour, highly recommend it!
Wow what a amazing experience. To start the tour I was given a long range ear piece so the whole tour was right in my ear. Without this you will never hear the tour. This tour sees it all, from casco viejo to the bridge of Americas (entry to the canal) and also some local neighborhoods. Our guides are locals that grew up in these neighborhoods and you can feel their passion for the local culture. The bikes were great. They all had a water bottle holder, shifted good, reliable brakes. Mine even had a handlebar cell phone holder so I could take video and still have 2 hands on the handle bars. The roads in panama city are not always your local park so a few spots require attention. We had a lead guide up front and a clean up rider at the rear to keep us together. With all that I did feel very safe.
This was one of my absolute favorite tours I took while staying in Panama City. It gives you a chance to see places outside of Casco Viejo and explore other great parts of the area. Bring a zip lock bag for your phone in case of rain ;) The guide is awesome, great to have conversations with, and provides great perspective on Panama culture and life.
If like me you didn't read the guide books before arriving in Panamá, no problem, just book this tour and Jonathan will tell you what you need to know, and more! I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is comfortable riding a bicycle and wants to explore Panamá City beyond the old town.
The bike tour with Jonathan and Elena was a very unique experience to see “less touristy” things in Panama City. We went to parts of the city that a tourist would not normally go to. Ths was the first time we had ever tried a bike tour, and the whole thing was well coordinated. We didn’t feel unsafe at all. But we heard a lot about history, how things got to where they are, and why some parts of the city are considered “no-go” zones and how the local community is trying to address that. We also got a unique view of the canal (not the locks, but the canal and the bridge of Americas) which I’m sure we won’t get if we weren’t on this tour. Both guides were fun and open to talk to. Certainly recommend this tour especially if you want to get a more autentic and local view of the country and the city.
Jonathan and Aron were great hosts. You feel super safe with the both of them stopping traffic. Jonathan is a local who is extremely passionate about his local area and that really comes through. He was really knowledgeable and really helped explain the differences in the various neighbourhoods around the Canal Zone! Would definitely recommend.
Brilliant bike tour with Jonathan at the front giving interesting insights into Panama’s social, political and cultural history alongside clear instructions about when to turn left, right and stop. Very well-organised with radio earpieces which worked well and were simple to use. Arun was a great support at the back helping guide traffic and explain how the gear levers worked. The bikes are decent and the ride is generally flat. Highlights included a boat and tug chugging under the Bridge of the Americas, fishermen bringing in their catch at La Boca, a mural showing Panamanian resistance over the years and just the contrast between the vibrant traffic-filled streets and the calm, empty, leafier areas. We even saw some deer. Overall a great way to see six districts of Panama City and get a real feel for its history.
The Best History Lecture You Take While Moving. Forget the engineering textbooks. This isn't a tour about how the Canal was built—it's about the messy, fascinating human stories of who lived there, who ran it, and how Coca-Cola became a political statement. The Vibe: A powerful, 2h45m dive into American cultural influence, Zone-era housing, and local resistance. You cover 15km of neighborhood streets, pedaling past architectural ghosts and political battlegrounds. The History: Our guide expertly swapped out talk of locks and dams for tales of social unrest and the surprising role of U.S. brands. It's an insightful crash course in power, identity, and logistics. The Ride: Short enough that you don't need to be a marathon cyclist, but dense enough that you'll be thinking about it for miles afterward. Verdict: If you want a vacation that makes you smarter and challenges your perspective in under three hours, stop looking and start riding.
A unique Bike Tour that showed us non-touristic spots about the history of Panamá Canal and how it influenced the surround neighborhoods. Jonathan was a incredible guide, and the rest of the team was always looking out for our security. This tour is a must do in Panamá City.
This was a wonderful tour, a ride through history and the neighborhoods that make Panama great. Jonathan explained the other side of the city that most tourists do not see, very knowledgeable and passionate about his community, highly recommend. Also the ear piece is genius so everyone is alert on the ride.
This was a great tour. A bit of exercise. A bit of history. Some social anthropology. It was delivered with great passion by the husband and wife team. And we saw a toucan!
Fun, exciting, extremely easy route to navigate, and best informative tour Guides! The husband and wife duo are the best at what they do. I felt safe, comfortable, and at ease during my tour. I am hard of hearing and they took great care of me. They use the ear walkie talkie to communicate everything you need to know. Most bike tours, I always feel left out and excluded, but not with Johnathan and his lovely wife, I felt included and I was able to hear everything. The bike path was easy to get around. I’m glad I chose them. Book them , don’t even think about it. They love what they do and it shows. And if you’re hard of hearing, the ear walkie talkie works! Brilliant idea on their end and it lets you know they put a lot of thoughts into their tour.
The day started well, with Jose calling us 5 minutes prior to let us know he was on time. We drove directly to the Miraflores locks, beating the tour bus crowds. He knew the best place to position ourselves for a cruise ship passing through, again avoiding the masses. These are small examples of his personal attention to details that made our day great. When we expressed particular interest in the period leading up to the 1989 US invasion , he extended our tour to show us how that history played out. He helped us pick a lunch spot, then stayed long enough to drive us back to our hotel. He went above and beyond expectations all day. Highly recommend.
The tour gives you a great insight on the history of Panama City and the Panama Canal. It takes you to some great hidden spots that you wouldn't discover by yourself.
It was a fun trip with lots of information. We thought it was going to be an e-bike but had no problem going up and down the hills.
Excellent history of the areas. This tour is unlike any other, it provides a background into some major neighborhoods in Panama City. Highly recommend!
Jonathan was an excellent guile . He was attentive to all the riders. He was extremely informed with all sections the group visited.. Highly recommended
Jonathan has designed a truly incredible tour that blends some of the most important elements of Panama City life. From the chequered history of Casco Antiguo, through to the Canal Zone and back, all while taking in some of the real neighbourhoods that make up this city. A beautiful tour from start to finish and we were sad when it came to an end. 100% thumbs up, must-do activity if you have a day in the City. Jonathan was a fabulous guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and easily imparted all his knowledge to us all the while he was biking and looking out for our safety. I would highly recommend him and I would use him again. The bikes were quite good and better than I expected them to be
Really authentic tour with Jonathan! Loved all the information he gave us and his way of thinking and showing us different perspectives! The tour with the bike itself is not heavy, not many too steep parts. He also took good care of us in the traffic. Good tour to support!
The tour with Jonathan was AMAZING, super authentic and local experience out of the "casco viejo Bubble" (aka el muro invisible). Highly recommended!
This was such a great tour! We got to see so many other sides of PC beyond Casco Viejo. Mainly how the “normal” folks love. I loved it!
Fantastic and splendid trip! I'm so happy to have found this trip and tour. Our tour guide was so involved and knew the city in&out! He had amazing anecdotes to all stories and points we visited. You end on the back roads of the Panama canal, that without a local, you cannot visit! If you like more history and emersion into culture, this is the trip for you! Have a good stamina for bike riding, but it's great! 😊
This tour was phenomenal; Johnathan is very knowledgeable and took us through incredible areas. The ability to see the contrast in different areas on a bike tour is always good, and this tour maximized it. There was a great mix of history, facts, and personal experience given. The earpiece was a great addition as well, allowing you to listen to what he is saying as you ride.
mr. alexander is perhaps the best bike tour guide ive ever had. im not a huge fan of the cookie cutter fake facaded images a lot of tourist destinations tend to veil you with, and this bike ride was just what I needed. I will try to sum it up quickly, 4 people signed up for the ride, only my partner and I showed up, so we got this amazing, catered for us, personal experience. I think we rode about 12-15 miles, and the whole time Mr. Alexander is guiding you letting you know everything about the city there is to know. and he took us through some places that would be less than comfortable if you were to venture there without a local, and I was so grateful for that, to see the real side of panama city, and not only the history of the smoke and mirrors, but the physical presence. it made me fall in love with the city, because every place that has undergone so much change and suffering, has and equal amount of soul and beauty to show for it.
Super fun 13 mile bike ride down to the Panama Canal and around Casco Viejo. Mr. Alexander was a great informative guide!
Amazing tour, you get to see and learn about many different worlds in Panama in a short space of time and beautiful views along the way
We had a great afternoon riding through the places of the history of the Panama Canal and also got the chance to witness a few ships coming through it at prime hour from a great spot! I would highly recommend this tour - we had a lot of fun and learned a lot :) The guide Jonathan was very nice and also adapted the tour to our individual needs!
The tour was amazing! For about three hours we discovered casco viejo, the panama canal zone and much more. Jonathan was a great guide and showed us non touristic areas where he grew up and provided us with so much history and knowledge. I highly recommend this tour at the beginning of your stay, because you will be provided with so many tips where to go and you will regret if you're running out of time!
This bike tour was the perfect way to start my Panama trip. Jonathan was a fantastic guide that provided constant information during the ride while ensuring everyone was safe and keeping up. The trip started and ended in Casco Viejo, but covered so much ground (17km). It was very well-paced and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
Jonathan was an excellent guide who gave me the confidence to ride a bike through the bustling streets of Panama City. Even though I've been living in Panama for almost 10 years, I had never visited the places he took us to. As a native Panamanian, Jonathan provided us with a unique perspective on the transformation of Casco Viejo, Ancon, and other sites of interest. It was nostalgic to see someone who studied in Casco Viejo's schools and grew up there, sharing the changes from his own experiences. You wouldn't think a bike tour could make you emotional, but the story of the 27 children is incredibly moving. Thank you, Jonathan, for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
Our guides took us to areas that no other bike tour in Panama will go! You learn about the area from a local who actually grew up in the area. I really appreciate the earpieces that we used on the tour! A huge upgrade from all the other bike tours I’ve ever had in other countries I’ve been. This is the only bike tour that I feel I heard all the details and could relax, concentrate on riding and admiring the city with no struggle to hear the guide. We could clearly hear Jonathan as he told us stories of his childhood, Panama history, and current happenings of the areas that we toured. I highly recommend this unique bike tour!
The Bike Tour given by "Not Another Tour" was an excellent showing of the tour guides both knowledge and passion for his community and country. The bike ride covered a lot of areas and took us on a trip through the side of Panama that most tourist don't get to see but should. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone looking to better understand the history and present state of Panama.
Amazing tour through different parts of area and the guide was very indepth and thorough when describing the culture and history of each of the places.
I had a morning tour with Jonathan and it was absolutely amazing! Not only did he show us around the city, but he also gave me food recommendations that only a local would know about. He is so friendly and knowledgeable and kept us very safe while riding in the streets alongside cars. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city for a couple days and wants to get out of Casco Viejo and see the real Panama City.
This was a fun tour. I will go again next time we visit. The guide was friendly and we got to see the areas we would not have found on our own
Best day I’ve ever had… And this tour was the highlight of it!!!! They way they lead you through all this magic places and give you different perspectives makes it so special and beautiful. They don’t miss any single detail and share all the information and stories from every single place. Amazing!!! I will definitely do it again!
This was a fantastic trip!! Definitely something off the beaten track and there is SO much to see and learn. Jonathon is a wealth of information having grown up and lived in this area his whole life (even saw the house he grew up in!) saw so many places you would never have known existed and yet so full of history and importance. And to get a local perspective on everything was really good. I lucked out on the day, not only seeing a massive cargo ship come through but having a local fishing boat come in with their catch, just in time for the first ‘forbidden mangoes’ to start falling from the tree (you’ll have to do the tour to hear the story about forbidden mangoes!) and catching the sunset. It rained a few times while we were out but it was actually really fun cycling in the rain and wasn’t a bit cold. The pace is easy, nothing too challenging at all, just great fun. Johnathon gave some good tips on really decent local places for food and drinks and they were spot on. Can’t beat local knowledge. For everything. Definitely recommend this trip, go see the bits they don’t tell you about!
I absolutely loved this tour!! So much rich history told on a interesting way, to get to hear it from a local, learning their perspective it's amazing! They were super knowledgeable, kind and fun people! The tour it self is well structured and he showed me places I would have never find on my own! And one thing that blew me away was the long range radios he had, he would be providing espectacular information while we were riding instead of stoping every two seconds so I wouldn't miss out on anything!! I cannot stress enough how great the whole experience was! How I was moved by his stories, I think everyone needs to do this tour at least once!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
I had the pleasure of participating in an incredible 19 km bike tour of various neighborhoods of Panama, and it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the beginning, they provided us with the bikes, helmets, and headphones that allowed us to hear the Guide clearly and continuously throughout the tour. It felt like going for a walk listening to an immersive podcast. The tour covered an impressive variety of historical and cultural sites, starting with the Old Town, an area full of charm and rich in history. Then, we explore Santa Ana, Avenida Central and Cerro Ancón, each with its own fascinating narrative. The Guide gave us interesting and in-depth details about each site. We pass through the Administration Building, the Bridge of the Americas, the Balboa Quarter and the Amador Quarter, each with its own role in the evolution of Panama. Coastal Ribbon Three offered spectacular panoramic views, and the tour concluded in El Chorrillo, a vibrant neighborhood with its own unique history. Our understanding of Panama’s history grew richer at every stop. The combination of exercise, education and the opportunity to see the city from a different perspective made this tour a truly unique and memorable experience. Jonathan and Maria know too much about the whole route and took care of the safety of the group at all times. I highly recommend this bike tour to anyone who wants to know more about Panama’s rich history in an active and fun way. An experience not to miss!
It was a very exciting bike ride. Our friendly guide, who grew up here himself, was able to tell exciting things first-hand and you get very close to the history of Panama and that of the canal. It is highly recommended for anyone who likes to ride a bike and does not like to see the typical tourist attractions. You get to know the good and maybe not so good sides of Panama City and get in touch with its friendly residents. I would do this tour again immediately.
Without a doubt the best tour to know the other side of Panama City, not a typical city tour. Jonathan is from the city and shows his love for it, as we go on the tour he tells us his memories, anecdotes and facts of interest. I loved to tour the non-tourist neighborhoods and so beautiful and green, it is certainly a unique adventure, the city for a moment becomes a small jungle and is full of history and avant-garde. Believe me it's worth happiness every minute!
A beautiful bike tour of Panama City, through which you can experience very interesting unknown places up close
