Our guide, Javier, was friendly and knowledgeable. He had an obvious love for the history, culture, and natural companions of the area. The tour gave us a close-up view of big ships going through the locks. The IMAX movie was focused, entertaining ,and worthwhile. It rained very hard on part of the lake cruise so some of the monkeys were not feeling social. But we got to see some tiny bats and a submarine!
Our guide was really fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a great experience seeing everything in the Canal. He was local so was able to give us a lot of information about the area around the Lake. I highly recommend him! You will not be dissappointed.
Booking a private tour was an excellent decision, and we were especially fortunate to have Ricardo as our guide. He arrived on time and was already waiting for us near our hotel. From the very beginning, he was attentive, considerate, and well organized. He even brought food for the monkeys, adding a special touch to the experience. Ricardo was patient throughout the tour and never made us feel rushed. His English was clear and easy to understand, and, most importantly, he was very knowledgeable. He explained the technical aspects of the Panama Canal, its history, and its operating schedule in an informative and engaging way. We truly appreciated his professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. We highly recommend Ricardo to anyone looking for an enjoyable, informative, and well-organized tour. And all in all that was the most interesting, informative and pleasurable experience and felt special.
Alex our guide was amazing. He knew all the places to be and at the right times. We seemed to miss all the big crowds. The canal boat trip is well worth the money alone. Highly recommend. 5 stars
Ricardo is the best guide, we had a magnificent day.
Excellent tour! Ruben was a excellent guide.
We had the most amazing tour with Ruben! We were able to see 3 different kinds of monkeys, and the canal. Ruben was full of so much interesting information, highly recommend him as your guide!
Our guide Dan was great. He did a wonderful job giving us the history of the canal and information about Panama in general. We really enjoyed it!
It was a great trip not only that we have a chance to visit cabal gates, watch the informative movie but later on go on the Gatun lake on the boat and see local animals and birds, pass next to big ships. The best part was our guide Dan who told us about Panama, thanks to him we have totally different approach to this country and we will be back.
What a great experience! Ricardo was on time picking my wife & I up from our hotel. He spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable about the Canal & surrounding areas. The Miraflores lock & movie was amazing but going out on the lake to see the giant shipping boats was wild. The star of the show was the monkeys. I would highly recommend this tour!
Ricardo was the best tour guide. He picked us up and dropped us off where we told him and on time. He was super knowledgeable about the history of the canal and was super friendly. He showed us all the monkeys and was a pretty awesome experience.
Excellent. Very informative and knowledgeable. Would do it again. Feeding the monkeys was a highlight
This tour was exactly as described and as wonderful as we hoped. It helped the Panama's weather cooperated, too! Ricardo picked us up right on time at our Casco Viejo hotel and started giving us Canal info on the drive out. He also provided bottled water as listed. Because we visited in the rainy season our small group tour ended up being private, which was nice. We got to the Miraflores Locks before any crowds and had perfect viewing spots at the front of the balcony. We saw three different ships go through (at different locks and distances from us) and then watched the IMAX movie. Ricardo kept us on schedule without being pushy. Lots of other groups showed up after us and missed any ship action. After the Locks we drove for a bit through the rainforest to get to Gatun Lake. We took a small boat and visited three different monkey islands (or three sides of one island, I'm not sure) and offered them fruit. Other boats hit up the same spot but everyone was friendly and we all got monkey time. During the boat ride our operator stopped at multiple points so we could get photos with some of the massive ships passing through the Canal. Ricardo also gave us more history about the machinery and process through the lake.
We only had a couple of days in Panama, so booked this 5 hour tour. It was a wonderful exoerience. Javier, our driver and guide, was great - told us lots of stories and facts about Panama, introduced us to his monkey friends and toured the Panama Canal. We were very lucky indeed to see a sloth crossing the road, and got out to stop traffic to ensure it could cross safely and was a couple of feet away from it. Usually you see sloths high up in a tree, so this was extraordinary! Feeding monkeys from the boat was also so much fun. Very mischievous! It was rainy season, so Javier stopped and picked us up ponchos. Still worth doing in the rain. Boating on the Panama Canal lakes was a fun time as well. I highly recommend this tour!
Javier was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and made sure we were able to see all the different types of monkeys close up. We also got to see a sloth and a crocodile. He provided a good overview and context of the Panama Canal and the Mira Flores locks.
This is one of the best tours I’ve ever taken, and it’s definitely the best way to understand the canal. Ricardo was fantastic and made sure we had the best timing for the experience. He even extended the schedule so we could watch a cruise ship go through the lock a bit longer. Highly recommend this tour!
It was a great private tour Pick up and drop off from and to hotel Ricardo was a great tour guide / driver Thank you
Ricardo was a great guide and gave us a lot of interesting information about the canal. He was on time and never made us feel rushed. We highly recommend him!
This tour provided us with a clear understanding of how the Panama Canal was built and how the locks work. Our visit to the Miraflores Visitor Center allowed us to see a large ship traversing the locks, guided by locomotives on each side. The lake is very large and our boat traveled alongside the large ships transiting the canal. The lake is full of islands, and our guide knew them well. He stopped to purchase fresh fruit and actually called the monkeys to come down to the boat. We hand-fed Howlers, Capuchins and Tamarinds, which was a truly unique experience. We even saw two crocodiles. We highly recommend this tour and thank our excellent guide, Dan Taylor.
What a fantastic tour. Great IMAX movie plus boat ride on the lake with much wild life sightings (monkeys, birds,,,). Our tour guide was fantastic. Knowledgeable, good story teller, knew everybody and they all seemed to hold him in esteem. Sorry, I cannot remember his name but he is tall... LOL
This is an outstanding tour to efficiently experience the Panama Canal and nearby jungle area of Gamboa in a few hours. Ricardo, our guide was prompt, courteous and instinctively knew exactly when to locate the best viewing positions. There’s a 3D IMax film which really helps you appreciate the history of the area and an engineering marvel. From watching giant ships navigate the Miraflores locks to a peek at the most elusive wildlife, including a tree-climbing iguana. Ricardo enhanced our experience. We saw three types of monkeys: Capuchin, Howler & Geoffroy’s Tamarin during the boat ride around Gatun Lake. Our driver (sorry we missed his name) even spotted a three-toed sloth sleeping high above the tree canopy. This contrast between the engineering marvel of the Canal and the wildlife of Soberania National Park is something you cannot miss …. Ricardo can make it happen for you!
It was excellent. Ruben our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we saw all three spices of monkeys, iguanas, and bats. We were actually on the Panama canal. Great experience. A must do
Alex our guide was terrific-he explained so much. The canal was great and d the boat to monkey island. Saw & feed so many monkeys!Got caught in rain near the end but actually felt great. Would highly recommend
Ruben our guide did an excellent job.
A must do when visiting Panama City. Javier is a friendly and a very knowledgable guide, he gave us lots of info about Panama itself as well. The tour is almost 5 hours (from hotel at 7.39 and back to hotel around 12.30). Everything went smoothly and on time. It includes all about the Panama Canal, observing a ship passing through the Canal lock + IMAX movie about the Canal. Then he drove us to the mountain and we took a boat to the lake. We were able to spot different types of monkeys and fed them by hand on the boat. Meanwhile we passed by several ships heading towards or away from the canal. Fully recommended tour and guide.
Ruben was exceptional. The tour was truly a once in a lifetime experience, and one my wife and I never thought we would have. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided all sorts of information I didn't even know I wanted but which we found extremely interesting. The route of the tour covered both the human side of the canal and the natural side perfectly. Having the tour just to ourselves was excellent, I couldn't recommend the tour, and Ruben specifically, more. We had a really nice time, for us it was quite the adventure, and learned far more than we expected. At no point did we feel unsafe or confused either. The tour and all the information that Ruben provided (including answering all our questions, many of which we would never have thought of before the tour started) gave us a much richer understanding of the country as a whole as well. So freaking glad we decided to sign up for the tour, worth every penny and more. It was without a doubt the highlight of the trip. Thank you so much Ruben! We will cherish it always.
On-time pick up, very informative guide (Demetrio did a great job and his English is excellent), and the opportunity to be on the water in Gatun lake next to ships crossing the canal (not to mention seeing monkeys in the lake’s islands) was priceless! Strongly recommend this tour!
A true nature paradise! 🐒🐊🦜 We saw lots of monkeys, a crocodile, and many different birds. Fernando was absolutely amazing — such a great guy and fantastic guide! Highly recommended! 🚤🌴
Visiting the Panama Canal—a must-see on any trip to Panama and a special treat with Daniela. She’s passionate about her country, is very friendly to everyone, and is very popular with the canal staff. She’s highly motivated to share the beauty and uniqueness of the country with her clients. The boat tour on Gatun Lake was beautiful—we were able to marvel at the unique natural scenery and plenty of wildlife, and Daniela’s interesting stories rounded out the excursion perfectly. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
We enjoyed the informative trip to Miraflores and learned a great deal about the construction of the canal as well as the day to day operations. The boat ride on Lake Gatun was well worth it as we were able to witness large vessels entering and leaving the canal. Very enjoyable.
Our guide, Javier, was knowledgeable and involved throughout the tour. Beta the lines and stay on time. Boat Tour was quite fun especially seeing the local fauna and flora.
The tour was wonderful. Dimetriou was a terrific tour guide. We first visited Lake Gatun and had a great ride on the Lake, seeing the wildlife and container ships. The IMAX movie was fun and informative and watching tankers and container ships progressing through the Canal was amazing; it really brought it home.
The Panama Canal / Lake Gatun outing was great. The van was comfortable, our guide (Demetrio with Safe Transportation) was attentive and knowledgeable and the overall experience was a great way to start our first visit to Panama!
This was an excellent tour. Not only was it informative (the Imax film about the Panama Canal), it was also a lot of fun (monkeying around)!
Daniella was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. If I had more time in Panama I would book more trips with her only!
We had a great time! Pickup at the hotel was on time, Ricardo is a safe driver and knowledgeable about the canal and the environs. Spotted some nice monkeys on the lake tour and we even got to feed them!
Usually don’t like leaving bad reviews but we were extremely disappointed in the tour. We were picked up 15 mins late. Afterwards the driver, picked up another family. Even though we booked an English tour, the driver Ricardo basically spoke 70% Spanish to the other group and 30% English. The monkey island tour was ok, we didn’t see much partially due to the weather. Our boat ride was extremely slow while it was raining and everyone was soaked. we also didn’t get to see the miraflores lock due to some accident. we ended up just seeing the Panama Canal off the highway. But then the driver kept talking on the phone and the group just waiting around. Didn’t get to see the miraflores locked but still ended up being a 6.5 hr tour because a lot of time was just wasted.
Oscar was our tour guide. He was absolutely amazing! Timely pick up in a clean car. He was exceedingly knowledgeable of all things related to Panama. Friendly and very funny. The canal tour itself was very informative. We saw monkeys during our boat tour and overall had a great time. Definitely would recommend this tour to everyone. Don’t forget to bring your own snacks if you want them.
Our trip to the Panama Canal was great. Our guide picked us up in time drove us to the canal and the tour was very interesting and informative!!! After we went on a boat ride to different islands to visit different monkeys. He was ready for each monkey species with their favorite snack!!! We feed the monkeys and had an absolute blast!!!
Bring sunscreen. You'll get up close with the monkeys but can move to back of boat if you want to observe from afar. The IMAX is VERY educational and enjoyable!
We had an amazing time with this tour. It is well planned and balanced with the boat tour, the movie of the history of the Panama Canal, etc. Our tour guide, Cesar, was phenomenal. He was funny, knew everything and was super informative. I would 100% recommend Cesar for your next tour!
my family and i had an amazing experience with Ruben. we would recommend this tour to anyone visiting panama!
Was a nice day and very informative. We saw some monkeys, no sloths. But it was nice.
We had an amazing time with our tour guide Alcibiades! He was an incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable guide with a plethora of information about Panama, the canal, and the tour itself. He made me and my dad feel like family and made sure we had a great time. The boat ride around Gatun lake was our favorite part, especially getting to see the local wildlife. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
This was a great experience. Our guide Rubin is very knowledgeable. He was born and grew up in Panama so he was able to share history of the area; even the history not found in books. He escorted us through the whole tour. Thanks Rubin and Panamá for sharing your beautiful country with us!!!!
This tour was a great experience. The pick-up from our hotel was on-time, and Fernando did a great job as our guide, getting us to all the best spots to see the canal in action. The boat ride in Gatun Lake (which is part of the canal) to see the ships (including the one that we had seen in the lock) and monkeys was also great. We gathered that one could do most of this as a do-it-yourself, but unless you are confident in Spanish and have time to get the tickets days in advance (the lines to get into the Miraflores Center that morning looked very formidable) this tour was definitely worth the cost.
We had an amazing experience on the Panama Canal tour! Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire trip enjoyable with interesting facts and great explanations. Everything was well organized, and seeing the Canal up close was truly unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Panama!
Had an excellent experience on this tour. It turned out to be only me and my driver Luis so I felt like a real VIP - Luis looked after me well and I felt very safe and cared for. Learned a lot about the canal I didn't know but watching the huge ships slipping through the jungle on Gatun lake really was the highlight for me.
Our guide was full of info on Panama as well. Now we have a better idea about Panama as well as a thorough understanding of the canal. The boat trip was great as well. We fed monkeys, saw bats and a sloth. Highly recommend this tour!
