Gatun Expedition Monkey Island Tour

We had a wonderful experience visiting monkey island. It was a 90 minute boat tour highlighting various vegetation, monkeys that actually came on the boat and we saw alligators and turtles. The guide Jenny was funny and very knowledgeable. Juliet was calling the monkeys with howls and was amazing too.

Had an amazing time! Maribel and the crew made it such a great experience and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We saw 3 different monkey species and many came on our boat during the tour. Highly recommend booking with them.

We (2 couples) used Camilo for three trips, first to monkey island and the Panama Canal. We then went up to Portobelo, three days later back to PC. He is a very safe and conscience driver with tons of knowledge about Panama and a great sense of humor. When we come back to Panama he will be our guide and driver!!

Over priced, we were sold a 5 hour tour that lasted 2 1/2 including 1 hour return transfer . On top of the tour price there was a hidden cost of $30 for the boat captain and monkey whisperer. the only good thing of this tour was the tour guide Daniella. Would not do again and don't recommend it either.

Daniel and his crew were great he was patient with picking me up and waited on the late bugs. The tour itself was great Daniel English is very clear for the English speakers. The boat was not too rough and is child friendly. Even though we did the evening tour where the monkeys don’t come out as much Daniel team mate Julia was able to get everyone to come and say hi. Would definitely recommend booking

The tour is well worth the price. The guide is friendly and has a great deal of knowledge. I would go anytime of the year, but my wife would have preferred it be dry season. You will see serval animal species. The monkeys come up to you. The guide will share history on the canal and places in Panama as you are riding to the docks. Strongly recommend this tour.

We were picked up at our hotel at the stated time. Our guide Milton was friendly and informative. We were made to feel welcome, and having a good experience was paramount. Julliette, aka The Monkey Whisperer, was a delight. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, and seeing a crocodile was an added bonus.

The tour guide was awesome he made sure everyone was satisfied with feed the monkeys and insuring we got all the pictures we needed. Highly recommend !!!

The company arranged a pick up on a short notice. The trip was great, we saw multiple species of monkeys, some of them come onboard for some fruit

Daniel our guide was excellent. We did see several types of monkeys and they came onto the boat which was pretty cool. Would highly recommend this tour!

We booked a private tour with Camilo to visit Gatun Lake and Monkey Island. He was always available through What'sApp and made sure that our tour went exactly as we wanted. It was a beautiful morning out on the lake. We saw all three types of monkeys as well as a toucan! I would highly recommend Camilo for your touring needs.

The tour was fine and the operators did a great job. BUT a major misunderstanding re the fees. Only AFTER I signed up was I informed that there would be a $30 upcharge each (cash) for the boat operator. They never asked for it throughout the tour so I assumed that was a misunderstanding. I gave Daniel (el jefe) a $30 tip to be shared and assumed that was the end of it. The operators are still after me for another $60!!

Your website says $20 additional for the boat ride. The tour guy changed the price for the boat ride from $20 to $30. That was cheating!

Company communicated well regarding pick up. Air conditioned bus to boat. Daniel was our guide and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable and perfect English with a great sense of humor. We had the ‘monkey whisperer’ with us and she attracted the monkeys. We saw 3 types of monkeys, some tiny bats, an iguana and many birds. A fun trip.

Our guides were Madeleine and Rafaelo. They were superb. I had a fantastic time and loved every minute. They spotted sloths, iguana, crocodile, white monkey, tamarind monkey, the ones up the tree and another species. They knew some by name too. Loved it.

All of the help were fantastic. The guide was the best that we’ve ever had. He was knowledgeable, entertaining, engaging, and generous in the amount of information that he gave us. It was a long trip and he kept us filled with information. It has been the best tour that we’ve ever been on. I highly recommend E guide Dan for anybody.

The experience was great!! Loved the monkeys! However I booked the day before and heard nothing from the tour personnel as to what time is pickup! I had to message them on the day of the tour for them to say that they can’t pick us up even though it stated it at the time of booking.. my tour was postponed until 2 pm! I booked for 12 noon! Late responses late with pickup also!! They didn’t take us back to the hotel!! I wouldn’t book again with Viator! Highly upset! Unorganized! If they overbook they need to state that and really need to communicate better with paying customers!! I will not book again! I felt lied to! And not satisfied! For the inconvenience of the time you all could have provided the transportation to make it right! That was ridiculous!! Never again!

A truly unique experience to discover the flora and wildlife of Panama Canal. The pick up at the hotel was in time. Our guide Alfonso was truly knowledgeable and his English was perfect. He gave us a lot of useful information about the tour, the city, the history, the animals and the flora. Well organised and friendly. The trip on a boat next to the vessels transiting Panama was a unique experience. We could see plenty of animals ( birds, monkeys, iguana, sloth…) I loved that the group was not too big. Alfonso answered all the questions we had about a lot of local topics and about the animals. It was great. Highly recommend.

Loved this experience with the monkeys getting on the boat and taking peanuts & grapes from our hands. It was also educational to learn about other wildlife & natural resources.

We had booked and prepaid a tour "Gatun Lake & Monkey Island: with this operator. The pick-up was to occur at 5:30 in the morning. They never showed up and also were not reachable until 8 am, at which time we gave up trying. Bottom-line is that they are unreliable and incommunicado. Viator refunded us the money, but having a full-day tour not happen without any advance warning when we only had three days in Panama really sucked. Our recommendation is to stay away from this operator.

Camilo was prompt and organized in booking us a tour with Luis (Abdiel). As reviewed by others, CAB service, knowledge, and language ability are stellar. We took the earliest departure at 5:45 as the weather was cool and there were few tourists. We were able to see: many birds (incl. toucans), a sloth, iguanas, ships, and monkeys. We personally had no issues with insects nor heat. All was agreeable and easy. Best to prepare US$ tip money in advance for guide - and also the local boat driver.

A 5:45AM departure from our hotel was highly recommended and well worth it. We had the islands to ourselves and were able to interact with a variety of animals. My highlight was a monkey who decided that my bald head was the perfect place to hang out for awhile.

We used Camilo for airport transfers along with a private tour to monkey island and for transportation to and from the canal. Camilo was always on time and spoke English very well. The monkey island excursion consisted of our group of 2 couples, Camilo and the boat captain. Definitely do this excursion with Camilo, it is well worth it. Email correspondance with Camilo prior to the trip was excellent, he would always reply in a timely manner. We would not hesitate to use Camilo in the future.

We recently used Camilo for a day trip to Gamboa for a boat ride to Monkey Island, a visit to Gamboa Rainforest Reserve and hiking in the rainforest. I highly recommend Camilo, as his prices are very reasonable, he is friendly, punctual, speaks excellent English and has a great sense of humor. I also noticed that he is very honest, he charged us less than his original price quote, so we gave him a nice tip to compensate.
