Excellent experience. Adventure. Food. Culture. Loved it. Part of a girl’s trip. We got picked up by van, taken to the Chagres where we got in canoes to the falls. Then we hiked with Emberra guides to the waterfalls. We went during the rainy season so we weren’t able to get close to the waterfall but the hike there was refreshing and exciting and we did get to swim. Then we hiked back to the canoes and went to the village, where they shared the history of the people and village and we had THE MOST delicious food. We actually saw children catching fish from the river and taking it to the kitchen. Will do it again.
Richard, our tour guide, did an outstanding job on this tour. His knowledge of history and interesting tidbits throughout the tour was amazing. He went out of his way to make this a very memorable experience.
I loved every minute of being with the tribe. The drumming, dancing and the lunch feast was spectacular. Thank you Phillippe for your guide and tour. You are the BEST!!!
This excursion provided an incredible look at nature in it's rarest form. Our driver Douglas guide provided pleasant conversation throughout the ride. The indigenous people were kind and friendly. The waterfall was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Italiano was especially helpful in helping us to maneuver our walk to the waterfall. When we returned to the village area we were greeted with local music. Their performance was heartwarming and genuine. The history of the people was fascinating. The food they served was really tasty and well presented.
It was a beautiful relaxing trip. The local people took us to the waterfall in a long narrow motor boat. The villagers were nice and welcoming. Our tour guide Richard was great explaining things
Richard was an outstanding guide and extremely knowledgeable about Panama and the Embera people. He entertained us with his insight and endless well of facts about Noriega, the relationship between Panama and the United States, etc. I would def recommend! Oh, and def wear water shoes not flip flops maybe even tennis shoes you can get wet. The climbing around the waterfall is not flip flop safe and barefoot is not comfortable, and bring water and a hat.
The best part of our trip was our guide Richard. He was so engaging and helpful. He stopped at some key locations in the city and told us a lot about the history of Panama. Throughout the drive he was a wealth of knowledge and history including his own as a Panamanian growing up. 5 stars for tour but 10 star rating for Richard !!
Very happy with the experience and the guide was very informative. Not sure I believe the village makes all the items available for sale but that did not deter from the experience.
Richard was an amazing guide. It was personalized, everyone was very attentive and nice. The waterfall was amazing. Highly recommended.
A great experience. Ali was an excellent guide. We were so fortunate to have had no one else on our tour group and had a private tour. Swimming at the waterfall was a unique experience and the Embera village people were wonderful!
This one is a must do for all, pleasant experience from start to finish, Daniel and the Embera family took excellent care of us, atmosphere, food, people were all excellent in providing the knowledge and experience of it all
Our guide was Very patient, helpful, friendly and took the time to educate us each way. It felt like we were at home
It was a wonderful honor to be able to learn about the Embera tribe's history and way of life. I am thankful that they allowed us to spend the day with them.
My husband and I started the day with a peaceful boat ride through Chagres National Park—absolutely stunning and so serene. After a trip to the rainforest and waterfall, we visited the Emberá village, where we were welcomed with warmth, music, dancing, and a delicious local meal for fresh fried fish and plantains. It was an unforgettable way to experience Panama’s natural beauty and rich Indigenous culture. Highly recommend!!
We had a great experience. The views were amazing. Our guide Richard did a good job. He took good care of us. We learned a lot about the Embera and enjoyed the waterfall.
It was a great trip , refreshing good food overall great service from pick up to drop off.Our tour guide Dan was exceptional I give him 10⭐️gave a detailed tour was extremely happy to had him.
Fabulous! We were met at our hotel by our Tour Guide Mario promptly as arranged. He gave us a great history review of various landmarks on route to our excursion too. Upon arrival to the river, we took a canoe and how beautiful the 20 minute journey in the powered canoe was to the creak. You feel so at one with nature. Be prepared to get your feet wet and wear aqua sandals - take your chances wearing anything else as you will walk across rocks and stones up to knee high. It's a 15 minute walk through little streams and up mini rock hills to get to the waterfall but once there....take a breath and take it all in. We did a private tour which was great and arrived just before the big groups. I can imagine that during peak season that it will be very busy. On the way back, we stopped at an Embera Village and was given a private history about the people, their land, their crafts. A simple lunch of fried talipia and plantain was served in leaves and was surprisingly delicious and comes from someone who's sceptical about where I eat. This was followed with fresh fruit and water and then a dance by the Embera people and then finally, the opportunity to spend some cash buying their crafts. A worthwhile trip! Thank you!
Hi, tomorrow is me and my husbands last day in Panama and we really want to do this tour. Is there anyway you can help us, it says there is no availability for tomorrow. My number is 1516-668-5892
This visit made the whole trip. After visiting them and having shared time and experiences with these people, it made me want to join their tribe. It seems like such a peaceful and harmonious environment. It was very interesting to learn certain things about how they interact with the rest of the world and how the government treats them or what they are allowed to do and not do.
Amazing all around experience, highly recommend for everyone! Worth the experience and effort. Great!
Lots of fun including the canoe ride to get there History discussion, dances light lunch and very friendly people It’s a bit pretense with the clothes but they do live there Family crafts with darling little girls salesman Take water with you Mosquito risk was greatly overstated, never saw any Some areas of red clay with rain
We had a great time. It was a wonderful experience. Everyone were very friendly and informative. Must do tour.
Our guide, Ana, was wonderful from start to finish. The ride up the river was awesome, our guides from the Embera tribe was great, friendly. We went dueing the dry season so we had to hike up to the waterfall, but that just made going in that much more enjoyable. Plus you get to see more of the flora as well. The Embara tribe were wonderful, the crafts they made and learning how they dye the material was just great. Food was fantastic. My only advice is to bring some extra cash because the crafts the tribe sells are awesome and it helps them maintain their culture.
Great day tour, I already posted about this. I just wanted to add another photo to show what a great time the Embrera Village people treated us to.
Ana led a very interesting tour to the waterfalls of the Chaga River and to the Embera Village. She was very knowledgeable about the tour, flexible with us, and fun to be with! We highly recommend this tour with Ana.
The trip was very informative and fun. Our guide Ana was awesome. She was very knowledgeable. Well worth going to embera village.
Not a lot to eat for lunch, you might want to eat a snack. Fun riding on the river and the waterfall.
I really wanted my kids to experience seeing a native tribe of Panama. The Embera people were really kind, and the meal was absolutely delicious. We ended up doing the swim in the waterfall before we went to see the villagers, and it was a little too cold for some of the people in our group. But overall, it was really nice. It started raining so we had to cut our trip slightly short. If you’re going to buy souvenirs in Panama, I recommend doing it while visiting the ember visiting the Embera village! The rainforest was absolutely beautiful.
The car ride to the village is extremely long. I actually got car sick because of how bumpy and fast the car was going. But it seems like everyone drives so fast in Panama. The canoe ride in itself was Amazing to see the trees, birds, and river. I would do the canoe ride by itself. Wish the canoe ride was longer. The walk to the waterfall is challenging due to the slippery rocks in the riverbed. Definitely bring water shoes or something with a good grip. The walk to the waterfall was at most ten minutes (but you are walking slow so you won’t slip). The waterfall was so beautiful. I loved it ! Once we got to the village, we were greeted with song and dance. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They taught us about their culture and history. They provided fish and plantains. They performed three dances. They offered to do their henna tattoos (but request a tip after). Also they sell their art which is higher than purchasing in Panama City. The art looks just like the items at the souvenir shops. I felt there was a lot of time waiting around in the village though.
We did the tour on a Monday morning. We left the hotel around 8am in Panama City. The boat ride was a fun adventure to the waterfall. You will have to walk on rocks to get to the waterfalll. I suggest water shoes to avoid slipping. Also If you have mobility problems this could be an issue. You must step up onto rocks. There are ropes on the wall to hold onto but if you are an elder this could be problematic. Also I suggest don’t bring any large bags. You need something you can strap to you. It is a great photo op and a good time. Next you go to the village. The village is informative and interactive. They will feed you fish and tostones along with fruit. It is delicious. You will also have an opportunity to buy items. On another note they will have you dance with them. Don’t be alarmed. It is fun and a basic two step. It is a nice outing.
We enjoyed the visit to the waterfalls and the Embera people and learned so much about their community and history. Our guide Daniel was very knowledgeable about the Embera and made our visit interesting and memorable! Kudos to Daniel and his assistant David .
From the tour guy Ali such a lovely man, booking was easy from the start to the end was the best experience I have ever had in my life this company made me feel at ease with booking with them and Ali the best tour guy ever if I could pack him in my suitcase to England I would. And Arnellll he was amazing from the Embera tribe that’s my family for life definitely keeping in contact with him. Thank you so much
This was a fabulous cultural experience! The lake and indigenous people are beautiful. We lunched on fresh fish they caught and prepared for us and a delicious array of fresh fruits. Twenty five families live in the village. We learned about their culture and survival.
Oscar was an awesome tour guide, super friendly and very knowledgeable! He gave great insights and knew the locals. The boat ride to the waterfall and local village was an amazing experience filled with breathtaking views!! I highly recommended tour!
Richard was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and respectful of our indigenous hosts. The village and waterfall experiences were one of the best in our many years of vacation/travel. It might be a bit of a hike in dry season, wear you bathing suit under your clothes, water shoes or similar would be best
My trip to the Embera village was so amazing. It was a unique experience to see how people are still living like all our ancestors lived. I have memories that will last me a life time.
This was such a great experience, we were lucky to have just us, another guest and Mario our guide for our tour. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the lake where we boarded a boat and were taken thru the lake and river as far as we could go then we put on our water shoes and walked thru the creeks to the waterfall. After some time enjoying a swim there we went back to the boat and then went to visit the village of the Parara Puru. We had a nice visit and lunch and were able to purchase some nice items that they made. They were very welcoming and such nice people. I would definitely go back if I come to Panama again. tips are make sure you bring bug spray and are ready and able to walk thru rocky water and do some climbing. we had water shoes that were recommended by the guide and so helpful but we saw other tours and their guests had on loafers and jeans and they were struggling.
Our tour guide Melissa was excellent despite not speaking much english, she made the trip so much fun and the tour was so enjoyable! We had a group of 6 and all of us had a good time.
This truly was a unique experience! From boating along the river to hiking in the jungle to swimming at the beautiful waterfall. At the end meeting/eating and dancing with the beautiful embera tribe. Amazing day!
We enjoyed our canoe ride down the river, the hike to the waterfalls was challenging and we loved it. The best part was the visit to the village itself. We enjoyed meeting the Embera people and their families. It was a warm welcome, we were given some historical background regarding the tribe, they showed us some of their traditional dances and even invited us to dance the rumba with them. We were very happy to be able to purchase a few items to commemorate our visit. We would love to come back and bring toys to the children the next time we visit Panama.
The whole experience was phenomenal and was enjoyed by all of us ranging from age 5 to 69. Our guide Manuel was the best and the Emberra people were so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the canoe ride, the hike, the waterfall and meeting the Emberra people.
great tour. Hike to falls was nice. Not a good trip for anyone with any sort of struggles in walking and footing. Sweet families at the village. Not pushy to buy stuff. great history lessons. Great guide was assigned to us as well. Door to door travel was fantastic.
Daniel was a knowledgeable and articulate guide. He provided a brief overview of Panama’s history and the seven indigenous tribes of Panama with an in depth history of the Embera tribe. He was responsive to questions and demonstrated an authentic, genuine care about the tribe and its members. It felt as though he was a respected and welcome person at the Embera Village. And, he was funny and engaged—someone who loved what he does. The reason for only four stars is because of the issue of the preliminary walk to the waterfalls. It was at best, a challenge and at worse, dangerous. The path was narrow, slippery, with areas of large and uneven rocks. The company should make participants aware of the challenge and dangers of walking on the uneven, narrow and rocky path during the dry season when the canoe cannot get close to the waterfalls
The trip up the river is the dug-out canoe was fun. The water fall was fun. The Embera Village was very interesting and the people told their story very well. The culture was nicely displayed and the lunch was good.
This day tour was completely worth it! Our tour guide spoke great English and gave us a full background on everything and gave great information. The waterfall was beautiful and we had time to swim before returning to the boat to go to the village. The village was a great experience. I had a wonderful time on this trip and highly recommend it!
This was the best tour we took while in Panama. This tour was very educational and the people of the village were so friendly. It was such a great experience with a very tasty lunch! Lastly, I can't forget our excellent tour guide Armando. I've traveled over 30+ countries and so far he's the best tour guide I've ever had!
Eduardo was a very good guide!! i wish i vould give him a 10!!! He gave us so much history on panama!! the food and fruits were good!! you get a glimpse of another side of panama!! i recommend this for kids!! our daughter - 8 year old enjoyed it so much!!
Loved everything! Was an adventure we will remember for ever. Everything was really well organized; can’t recommend this enough
Our group was 5 people, age range 64-76. Picked up on time by our English speaking tour guide Aura who was wonderful. Very organized tour. Boat captain (cecilito?)and boat hand (Aldo) were friendly and helpful. After a very smooth ride on Rio Chagres we arrived at the waterfall. There was one spot on rocks to get there that required some careful footing but there is rope to assist and it is over quickly. We had time to have a nice swim at the waterfall (bring your watershoes as bottom is weedy a bit). We continued to the Embera community to enjoy a small tour, an interesting informal presentation, a delicious fish dinner with a large platter of fruit, a music/dance presentation with time to chat and peruse/purchase their weavings/crafts. We all agreed it was a great tour.
