An eye-opening part of the trip was learning about waste management on these tiny islands. There are no public trash collection systems out here. Our guide explicitly asked us to pack all our plastic bottles, wrappers, and aluminum cans back into our day bags to dispose of them once we returned to Panama City. It’s a small effort to preserve a paradise

I spent 3 days/2 nights in San Blas — specifically Tubasenika — and it isn’t a destination you check off a list. It’s something you step into… and feel. Life there is stripped back to its purest form. No excess, no noise — just the rhythm of the ocean, the warmth of the sun, and a pace that forces you to slow down whether you’re ready or not. And somewhere in that stillness, you start to reconnect — with the moment, with the people around you, and with yourself. What makes it unforgettable isn’t just the untouched beauty, it’s the people. The kindness, the quiet hospitality, the way you’re welcomed not as a visitor, but as someone being invited, even briefly, into their world. There’s a sincerity to it that you don’t question — you just feel it. The nights, the conversations, the simplicity of it all… everything felt intentional without trying to be. Nothing rushed, nothing forced. Just presence. The kind that stays with you long after you leave. And then there are moments — rare ones — that don’t ask to be held onto. Not meant to stay, not meant to be defined. Just meant to be experienced fully, exactly as they were. San Blas gave me that, and more. And I’ll carry it with me, always. Thank you for everything.🌊🦈🌴
Sixto was an amazing driver! He was on time, drove us to and from, and helped make it an incredible experience. Very beautiful islands and experience. Pack lots of water and sunscreen!
Ssoo much fun. Just be sure to bring sun block. You will be bombarded by the sun! Visiting the islands was great and staying in the to tiny cabin was an amazing experience!
It would have been helpful if there were at least one worker who spoke and understood the English language
The expérience is very rewarding, leaving with the minimum and in total simplicity. However, there are things that need to be improved: the bed was stinking and very uncomfortable and there is a big lack of organisation.
I’m so glad I went in February. The sunny skies made the ocean look incredible. I’ve heard that if it rains, the boat rides aren't nearly as fun, so I'd definitely recommend sticking to the dry season to make sure your trip isn't spoiled by the weather.
The islands are so peaceful and the waters so many blues. Breath taking. There was only us the first night another couple the 2nd night. The people were so warm and friendly. To let people know the only way we could charge our phones was at 6pm when the generator turned on at the location we ate our meals. (So carry a power bank if you need one) Also the service is very very spotty. I would suggest instead of using your phone for pictures carry a water proof camera with batteries. You totally disconnect here which is what we all need. The meals were great. ( fish or chicken only) we stayed in a private cabin over the water , so when we got up in the morning there was eagle rays under our porch. The porch had 2 hanging hammocks for relaxing and reading or just watching the sunset. Don’t forget bug spray!!
A super relaxing and peaceful place, ideal if you want some time for yourself and to get away from all your responsibilities. They give you your personal space to have your own experience, but at the same time they are very attentive to everything. The water is very clear, the weather is perfect, nothing to complain about.
Well... I liked it but it wasn't perfect. They could focus on improving their customer service and training their staff who don't speak English. The beaches were fine.
The best trip of my life! They transported us from Panama City and from then on it was a unique experience. Beautiful islands and my children had the time of their lives. The drinks were delicious and included in the price incredible! I would definitely go again.
We stayed three nights on one of the islands in Sea San Blas, and honestly, it felt like the outside world stopped. Our cabin was super basic (bed, cold shower, sand everywhere, haha!), but as soon as you opened the door, you were practically in the water. No Wi-Fi, almost no cell service, only a few hours of electricity... at first it's strange, but then you realize it's exactly what you needed. The Guna hosts cooked fresh fish and rice; we spent our days relaxing in hammocks, surrounded by the sea, and watching incredible sunsets. Nothing fancy, but it was absolutely perfect.
Other travelers had consistently recommended this trip to San Blas, and although it seemed a bit pricey, I'm so glad I did. They told us the history of the Kuna people and made sure we had a fantastic, fun, and special trip for everyone. Everything was very well organized, and the food was incredible, including freshly caught lobster. We felt like we were the only ones in the world in these little oases of blue waters and beautiful palm trees, welcomed by lovely locals who shared their homes with us. This is an experience I will cherish forever, and I am so grateful for it.
We did an overnight trip to San Blas islands with Sea San Blas. Stayed overnight at Pelican Island. Few things we wish we had known; The boat ride is an hour long each way and you will get totally drenched. They will cover your bags with tarp. Make sure to keep your documents and phone in the bag. If it's on you, it will get soaked. Definitely carry a flash light and power bank Overall it was amazing trip, well organized. The excursion to visit other islands is okay. In future we will just stay put at one island and enjoy the beach. This is a highly recommended tour
We slept super comfortably and happily with the windows open and listened to the soothing waves all night. It was super relaxing.
We watched the beautiful sunset every night from the steps of our cabin. We couldn't believe the colors; the weather and the scenery were incredible.
Went with my partner and it was honestly one of the most romantic trips we've done. Quiet nights, clear skies, no distractions.
The Cayos Holandeses tour was a surprise bonus. So empty and peaceful. We loved that it wasn’t crowded like some of the other islands.
Private cabin was right on the water and so quiet at night... Waking up to ocean waves every morning was unbeatable..!!!
Should’ve booked 3 nights honestly. We loved every part of it, from the boat rides to the food to just laying in hammocks and chatting with other travelers.
Everything about this place felt like the break we needed. Calm, peaceful, and no pressure to do anything but relax. Cabin was clean and right on the Beach.
Good spot to unplug and just chill. No Wi-Fi, no cell signal, just you and the beach. The cabin was very basic but did the job. Be ready for the ride out — that road is wild. Loved the clear water and soft sand though.
Getting there took a while but it was all worth it. The island was peaceful, food was decent, and we really appreciated the effort of the local staff.
Everyone was really chill, from the guides to the people staying there. It’s not a party spot but more of a peaceful place to relax and recharge.
Woke up to the sunrise from our bed. Doesn’t get better than that. The extra excursion made the whole trip feel more complete.
We ended up extending our trip because we didn’t want to leave. Met other travelers and spent evenings just talking and watching stars. No Wi-Fi but didn’t miss it at all.
Everything was amazing but just know there’s not much to buy on the island — bring snacks and extra water. Also power is limited so charge your phone when you can.
It’s not fancy, but that’s not what we were looking for. The beach was clean, the staff was friendly, and our cabin had the perfect view. Bring a flashlight for nighttime.
Our group of 4 had the best time on this trip. Cabin was simple but fine, and the tours during the day were a lot of fun. Especially liked Diablo Island and the sunken boat.
Our driver showed up late so we got a late start, but they still made sure we saw everything. That was appreciated. Pelicano Island was small but very pretty and the water was clear.
Tour with ups and downs. The day before the tour I was informed to be picked up between 5.00 and 5.20 a.m. at my hotel but could also be little bit earlier. Waiting in the hotel lobby on time but no one arrived; I was even told by hotel staff that for San Blas they are normally not later than 5.00 a.m. at the specific hotel. I was having a number on which no one answered the phone when I tried to contact them at 5.25. I was then writing a WhatsApp to have at least done all that I could do that early in the morning, fortunately getting a very quick answer that they will take care and give me feedback. Twenty minutes later I was told the driver had an accident, they try to get me on another tour for the day. Another ten minutes later I was told there was an engine issue and there is no possibility to get me on another tour that day. I could choose between a full recharge or being booked for the same tour the day after. I decided to do the tour the day after, requesting some discount due to the inconveniences which was rejected because the "system does not allow" that. To sum up, an accident, engine breakdown whatever can happen, that's bad luck. At least I would have expected a proactive communication from the operator, even though I can understand that the driver may also be busy with other things during the engine thing. But normally I inform my employer etc in such a situation who can communicate to the customer; in addition, saying the system does not allow a deduction is in my eyes making it too easy by the company. Even if the system does not allow that kind of adjustments there would be other ways to satisfy a customer (e.g. giving 5 or 10$ to the driver who would pay some food or drinks for you when they are doing their stop at a supermarket right before turning to Comarca Guna Yala). Service via WhatsApp nevertheless was fine and in good English. Tour on the next day, stay on the island and return were without any issues.
This was exactly the reset I needed. Slept early, swam a ton, ate good food, met awesome people. Could use better signage at the port for finding the right boat but otherwise really smooth experience.
Great choice for couples or small groups. Our guide Luis made everything easy and was super knowledgeable. Only thing I’d change is starting the tour a little earlier so we had more daylight.
Booked this as a family trip with 2 teens and they loved it more than I thought they would. Snorkeling, exploring, meeting local kids at the village — it was all memorable. The boat rides were a little scary at times but fun overall.
My partner and I did this for a mini honeymoon escape and it was really special. The private cabin gave us privacy and the day tours were a great way to explore. We only wish there was a bit more info ahead of time about the itinerary.
Really fun time, though the drive was pretty brutal. Not for people who get car sick easily. But once we got on the boat and saw that water — wow. It felt like we were in a postcard. Bring motion sickness meds!
I’d say it’s more of a camping-with-walls situation than a hotel experience, but that’s what we were looking for. Loved the stars at night. Totally off-grid and peaceful. Bring snacks though, not much else available once you're there.
Solo traveler here — stayed in the group cabin and everyone was super nice. Got to know people from all over. The only downside was the shared bathroom was a bit rough at night, but manageable. Loved the vibe overall.
Stayed one night with friends in the group cabin and had an amazing time. The place is basic but clean and steps from the water. We loved the island hopping part of the trip — especially the stop with all the starfish. The boat rides were bumpy though, so hold on tight. Would totally recommend for laid-back travelers.
The private cabins are right on the beach, super peaceful. No frills, but waking up to the ocean was amazing. The tour was well-run and our guide was helpful, but we did wait around at the port a bit too long in the morning. Still, once we hit the water, it was all worth it.
First of all - San Blas is a paradise and definetly a must do while in Panama. It was a very unique experience due to our interaction with the guna. Unsure if you have to do it with Sea San Blas though. We booked a tour with Sea San Blas with one night on Aroma island in private cabin. Positive: + Interaction with Guna + Nature & Carribean paradise + pickup and boat transfers worked smoothly + food was pretty good, despite being very repetitive (fish + side) + island hopping / transfers between islands worked without a problem + our tourguide on the second day was a really fun guy and very engaged Some things you should be aware of: ~ don't expect a warm welcome, like you would in a Hotel. The Guna are living on the island and do their thing. So they pretty much ignore you, unless you actively engage and search a conversation and ask them things. Then you might get unique insights and a once in a lifetime experience. ~ they only speak spanish on the islands. Some other guests on our island had a pretty though time communicating. ~ it is not a guided tour, so unless you actively ask questions you will not receive any information. There were some hickups along the way: - since it is not explicetly mentioned on their website, we were under the impression that the private cabin has a private bathroom. Not a big deal, but should be mentioned somewhere that you share these facilities with the entire island. - the photo of the private cabin on the Website showed a completely different cabin than the one we received. We were told that the photo is of a cabin with a private bathroom, which cannot even be booked through Sea San Blas. The photos show what we expected and what we got. - we wrote them and they promised that someone would approach us and we would receive another cabin, which eventually did not happen. - so we ended up sleeping in a very rustic cabin, with the beds in the sand. Sleeping in a hammock on the beach would have been a nicer experience. But you will be so tired, that you will sleep anywhere. So I understand everyone saying its an adventure, however you end up paying 420 USD for two people which is a joke for what you get - especially considering you can stay a couple of nights in a five star hotel elsewhere in Panama.
I gifted my partner this trip for our second anniversary and we had a phenomenal time, it feels very private and romantic, the heat can become a bit overwhelming if you are not used to it but it is worth it without a doubt, a destination that I think I will repeat someday 🤍🌴
I spent the last six months doing work from anywhere in Panama City and needed to shut down my brain urgently. Close my laptop and spend two days without a cell phone signal in San Blas was the best decision of my year. I was reading online, hearing the noise of the sea and talking to the Sea San Blas team about the daily life of the county. I returned to the city with 100% renewed energy. I recommend it to anyone who is on the verge of burnout.
If you are planning a stay of several nights nearby soon, get ready to truly disconnect. There is no electricity at night, but lying in a hammock under a starry sky makes you forget about your phone and relaxes you completely; the sunsets this season are the most colorful of the year... just pack a good portable charger and a light raincoat just in case.
The tour description does not reflect reality well. It is a campsite on a nice islet, but there is only one electrical outlet for all guests. The cabin is literally a shack. The meals are identical for both lunch and dinner. The experience is quite wild, but the sea perhaps makes up for it. Final note for the car journey: it is very cramped, even with the suitcase on your lap as it happened to us, and there is a good hour of hairpin turns, so for those who suffer from motion sickness, be prepared!
I needed an urgent escape from the daily chaos, and the plan for the private cabin on Pelican Island was the salvation. An absolute silence, only interrupted by the wind. We spent our time exploring the surroundings by kayak and paddling slowly. The island caretakers are super friendly and provide total privacy.
I had an incredible experience with paradise-like beaches, turquoise waters, and a unique connection with nature and local culture.
Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy an unforgettable day in paradise. 🌴☀️🚤
Sleeping on the island is an otherworldly experience ❤️🩹 the sound of the sea is all you hear. We were worried about comfort but it's more comfortable than what we'd been told, very nice experience, it's really something I'll never forget
The experience is incredible, but you have to go prepared; The bathrooms on the island are basic and there are no luxuries, but the natural beauty is second to none, the organization went quite well, we were picked up promptly at the hotel in a comfortable and safe 4x4... as a tip I recommend that you take dizzy pills for the land leg and enough cash, as the locals do not accept cards.
