I recently stayed at the Exe Oriental Panama. Upon checking in at 3pm, the power went out. Even after it came back on, the elevator, running water, AC, and WiFi were still not functioning until about 7:30pm. My room was on the 10th floor so not being able to use the elevator was not only inconvenient, but also a safety hazard. There was no proactive communication with guests during this entire time about what the issue was or when it was expected to be resolved. Even after the water came back on, the water pressure was still an issue, with the sink and toilet spontaneously spraying water. The AC was not repaired until MIDNIGHT, leaving guests unable to comfortably or safely be in their rooms as the temperature outside was over 90ºF/32ºC. No apologies were given and the staff had a very rude and dismissive attitude. I was told by other guests that the same issue with the AC had occurred the day before as well. This again is not only an inconvenience, but a huge safety hazard. I was told by staff that all of the hotels in the area were having the same issue, however it became clear to me that they were lying because when I called these other hotels myself, they all said their water, power, and AC were working perfectly fine. All in all, the room was uninhabitable from the time of check-in at 3pm to 12am (9 hours!). This is inexcusable for any establishment, and upon inquiry about any reimbursement, the request was quickly dismissed. Separately, other issues arose: the Wifi was absolutely awful both in the room and in the lobby, with frequent lagging and slow speed. Additionally, the gym was not air conditioned and did not have any open windows. This basically made it unusable, which is a huge bummer as it is a large reason why I booked the place.

This could’ve been a good experience, as the rooms are nice and the location is decent. Day 1 was fine. Day 2 and 3 were terrible. The power kept going out, the AC didn’t work for the vast majority of the time, and the water didn’t work properly either. Staff weren’t particularly helpful nor apologetic about the situation, nor did they offer any compensation—I had to ask for free breakfast on the final day, which they reluctantly gave me. When I checked out, I demanded compensation for 1-2 nights. They told me to write to some email address to request it. I did but never heard back, so I escalated it via Hotels.com, which wrote them several times. The hotel either didn’t respond or refused to provide compensation, and thus this hotel took zero responsibility for the terrible experience they provided us. For that reason, I give this place a 1-star. Absolutely terrible customer service for very deficient stay. Exe Oriental Panama admin: if you’re reading this, how can you live with yourselves treating customers this way? Take responsibility for the things that go wrong.
Seemed like a good hotel and is located in a great spot. However, we encountered endless problems. There were major power, water, and AC outages both days we were there (started ~3pm each day and was restored around midnight). The hotel eventually gave us one free breakfast, but we really expected more from a 4-star hotel. Would not stay here again, nor would I recommend anyone I care about to stay here. The AC unit leaked everywhere and fortunately we didn’t have our cases on the provided case stand else everything we owned would be soaked through. Think twice before staying here. Rooms are large, but being able to sleep is more important. If you do stay here, stay on a low floor as these rooms get fixed faster when things go wrong.
The hotel service is below standards. My bed had stains and hair all over the bed. I do not have hair.....I asked to get new sheets, etc. They did nothing as if it's ok to sleep on a bed with hair and stains from someone else. Do not stay here. This is a legitimate 2 star hotel. I've learned my lesson.
I reserved my room online and arrived after a long flight, very excited to stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, upon check-in, the front desk agent told us there was “an issue” with our room and that we would be transferred to a different hotel. She refused to show us photos or provide clear details about the new property. When we looked it up ourselves, we saw it was nowhere near the same quality or star rating as the hotel we originally booked. The situation was handled extremely poorly. While the hotel did pay for the Uber to the new location, that does not change the principle of the situation. We were expected to accept a downgrade due to the hotel’s mistake, while other guests were actively checking into their rooms without issue. It was frustrating to be the ones moved despite having a confirmed reservation. It wasn’t until we mentioned that we booked through American Express that anything changed. Even then, communication remained unclear. We were Ubered to a different hotel without being properly informed that the destination had changed until we arrived. Overall, this was a horrible experience and extremely disappointing service, especially given the expectations set by this hotel. I do not recommend staying here.
