I have taken many tours over the years but this one has been my favorite. The Cotswold in the fall is so beautiful and the history so rich. The people we encountered were so gracious and helpful. Our guide, Andrew, was incredibly knowledgeable and warm the tour was an adventure I will always cherish.

Itinerary
A fairy-tale village of thatched cottages and beautiful landscapes that is away from the tourists. The home of several famous characters and the future home of royalty.
The centre of the wool trade in the Cotswolds. Here you'll have time to browse among honey-coloured buildings, cosy pubs, narrow streets, interesting shops and tiny tea rooms.
Our next stop is the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter, one of the most romantic villages in the Northern Cotswolds and set in the most amazing countryside. Larger vehicles are not allowed into this village.
Our next stop is arguably the most famous Cotswolds town and regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England; Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' there is plenty to see and do with a wealth of attractions, shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Here you have free time to explore and enjoy some lunch.
On route we go through some enchanting Cotswold villages to the town of Burford, often called the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds'. A very iconic town and home to one of the most beautiful and ancient churches in the region. Stories aplenty!
Travelling along the stunning Windrush Valley visiting hidden villages including Swinbrook. One of the most secluded villages and home of the notorious Mitford Sisters.
A real highlight of the tour which boasts plenty of Cotswold stone and thatched roofs, as well as holding the title of being the region's most haunted village. Minster Lovell is perhaps best known for the ruins of its 15th century hall, owned by generations of the Lovell family. A true hidden gem!

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, as it was my first tour in my own. My tour guide was wonderful and insightful about each location. Would definitely do it again.
Really fun way to see a slice of the Cotswolds. Sonya our guide was terrific, friendly and very knowledgeable. Having a small group was especially enjoyable.
It was a perfect trip. Our tour guide , Sonya was excellent in her knowledge and hospitality. She took good care of all of us and the itinerary was very well planned. We got sufficient time to explore the beautiful Cotswolds. Overall, I had a lovely day.
Really fun experience with Ian! He was really passionate and knowledgeable about all the Cotswolds villages. He was also very personable and was able to have everyone get well acquainted with each other and get along. We also were able to go to some places that other larger groups cant because we were in a smaller van. The only suggestion I’d have is that the last village was really private, so there wasn’t too much we saw there that we didn’t see elsewhere. Would definitely recommend to friends!
Ian was a superb host and the towns he picked to show us and the information he gave us just made the whole experience wonderful! I've been to the Cotswald's several times before, my friends never had been. This was new places and (off the beaten path👌) information along with tried and true favorites that you need to see if you've never been there before. I learned a lot I hadn't known before and they were charmed by the Cotswald's (as everybody is 💖)
This was the first private tour I’ve ever booked, and we had a wonderful time! We were able to choose which villages to go to, go at our pace, extend time when we needed, even stopped to look at birds and sheep. Our guide Andy was so knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. He provided excellent commentary and answered all our questions.
Was a very interesting and great tour.
Our encounter with Undiscovered Cotswolds was fantastic. With gorgeous villages, breathtaking countryside, and intriguing local tales, the tour felt intimate, laid back, and wonderfully timed. Our guide was amiable, informed, and obviously enthusiastic about the region. Instead of being on a tour, it was more like exploring with a local friend. Strongly advised for anyone wishing to visit the authentic Cotswolds!
Andy was our guide and was absolutely amazing! It was our first trip to the Cotswolds and Andy made it a special day for us. His insights, deep knowledge of local and regional history were incredible and made it an engaging and fabulous trip for us! We loved every minute of it!
We had a wonderful tour with our guide Sonya. It was just my husband and I, and Sonya drove us to various towns in the Cotswolds. We walked around and Sonya told us interesting stories about the various towns, buildings and churches.
Ian was a great tour guide, educational and entertaining. Plenty of time to explore and have lunch. Good driver. Relaxing time exploring a beautiful part of England.
The Cotswold villages were charming and our guide Sonya made our day special. Sonya’s knowledge of history and of the Cotswolds was an added benefit for us. We enjoyed the day immensely!
Andrew - what a delightful guide for our visit to the Cotswolds! He's a charming storyteller with great character voices. We learned so much English history. Highly recommend!
We had a super day out with Ian who is full of fun facts about the places we visited. It was a fun packed day covering at least 7 places with time to explore. I can really recommend anyone to do this tour.
Excellent tour guide. Ian was very informative and had wonderful stories about the places we visited. We were able to visit the smaller villages that larger coach tours couldnt. Wonderful day - a good mix of friendly people.
We really enjoyed our Cotswolds tour, at every stop Andrew shared historical information that made the trip so enjoyable. We had plenty of time to walk around each village and take it all in.
We had an amazing day in the Cotswalds with Andrew! We had a group of 6 - four adults and 2 kids. Andrew had a super comfortable van for us, and he and Ian created a perfect itinerary for our family and kids. Andrew was incredibly knowledgeable about the region’s history. We learned a ton but also had some free time to explore on our own. I’d definitely recommend!
We had a great experience going to the Cotswold with Andrew. Pick up and drop off right on time. Nice comfortable car. Very knowledgeable tour and good selection of places to stop. We were thankful that we did not attempt to drive this on our own, The driving is very difficult and required an expert driver. Andy navigated some seriously challenging narrow and windy streets!
My girlfiend and our parents (6 people) went for a private tour of the Cotswolds from Oxford with Andy who made our day memorable! He had a great knowledge of the area and its history, and even spoke French (which made it easier with our parents)! The Cotswolds themselves and their villages are charming and beautiful. We highly recommend this tour to discover the heart of the region.
Andy from Undiscovered Cotswolds was an awesome tour guide. We spent entire day with him and he was a world of information. We visited Lower Slaughter, Bourton on the Water, Burford and Minster Lovell. Andy recommended High Tea at Lords of the Manor (pictured) and we were not disappointed. This was our 1st time to the Cotswolds and Andy was patient with us while we explored, rested and took in all the places we visited. Definitely 5 stars and 5 thumbs up.
Jo was amazing! Her knowledge of the local area brought the Cotswolds to life, sharing fascinating stories and little-known tidbits that made the visit truly special. I gained an appreciation for this beautiful region, and loved the places she recommended for cream tea & lunch. Thank you to Ian & Jo for an unforgettable visit to the Cotswolds!
Andy was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and was willing to cater the tour to our desires. We saw more villages than I can count!
It was a fabulous experience in a van with a total of 6 persons. Andrew the guide, driver and everything else is exceptionally knowledgeable, patient and kind.
We recently had time in Southampton before getting on a cruise ship. We decided to avail ourselves of a guided tour with our driver Ian Mowbray-Williams of Undiscovered Cotwolds. It was a spectacular day! Ian picked up 3 of us for a fun tour of Stonehenge and Bath. Ian was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, sharing stories about his travels, education and experiences, as well as his in-depth knowledge of the history in both locations. We learned things that we would have never known if we had gone on our own. We stopped for lunch at a local pub in Bath (The Raven) which was one of Ian's favorites. Ian ate with us and recommended the meat pies which did not disappoint! You know it's a good place when all the locals eat there! I would highly recommend taking advantage of Ian's expertise and his easy-going personality - it was very clear that he loves his job! Our only disappointment was that we didn't have another day there as we would have loved to visit the Cotwolds with Ian!
I’ve been to the Cotswolds a couple of times and I have to say this is the best trip I’ve taken so far. Our tour guide Andrew was excellent giving a background of where we went and interesting stories and a great sense of humor comfortable ride and allowed time for someone who walks with a cane like me I will go again and again I would rate it five out of five stars.
Our tour was originally scheduled for Saturday from Southampton but we were notified on Thursday that the original driver was became unavailable so we were asked if rescheduling for Sunday would be OK. That was a bit disappointing because the weather Saturday was forecast much better than Sunday, but we agreed. Sunday, indeed, was rainy and that was a but disappointing. But enough about the weather. Our driver, Ian, was prompt, safe, very friendly, very knowledgeable, and provided a great tour complete with history, and local stories ranging from English history to Russian spies to Nazi scandals all giving us a connection to this beautiful part of the world. He told us what a "Marmite thing" is and I have discovered that I am pro-Marmite. Due to the rescheduling, the tour company treated us to a great Sunday Dinner at a beautiful Inn. These are all great memories contributing to why we travel.
We had a wonderful tour through the Cotswolds with Andy on my wife's birthday. Andy knows the area intimately and gives great context to the history of the region and specific sites visited. Recommend this tour very much.
My wife and myself recently completed in July the tour of "Undiscovered Cotswolds Private Tour" which comprised of several villages and historic sites. On completion of the tour in Oxford. We felt it was our duty to inform the tour operator of our disappointment together with some urgent suggestions to enhance their services especially with assisting the nominated driver and in-van commentary. The Mercedes passenger van that was used on the tour day required was in need urgent service/investigation since there was inherent drumming from the suspension and tyres creating vibration seriously impacting the cabin interior this combined with other road noise drowned out the drivers voice over, making all it extremley unpleasant not only to ourselves but and several other passengers, it was in fact impossible to actually hear the tour commentary without interrupting the driver/guide to raise the vehicle volume whilst she is trying drive and ensure everybody's safety. All this issues could have be simply be overcome with pre-recorded commentary between scheduled tour stops. We missed so much important detail on the day entire tour. Therefore given our experience it was a huge disappointment to my wife and myself after planning our visit to the Cotswolds from Australia. the company was informed by email with reply advising us to give them a 5 star rating!! which is clearly not the situation.
Ian, our driver was on time and never rushed us on getting back to London. Very patience and kind. Knowledgeable on Cotswold and we loved the itinerary he set for us. Thank you very much, Ian Hawai’i gang
Jo was an excellent guide for the 7 of us. She was informative, cordial & very accommodating to each of our needs. Highly recommend taking this tour. Also appreciated the small group size.
We had an outstanding experience on our Cotswolds tour with Graham as our driver. From the moment he picked us up in Windsor, everything was seamlessly arranged. Graham's expertise and personable approach made the day exceptional. Our journey began with a visit to the picturesque Castle Combe, followed by the charming village of Bibury. We continued to the delightful Bourton-on-the-Water, the beautiful Slaughters (both Upper and Lower), and drove through the historic Burford. Our tour concluded with a visit to Minster Lovell, showcasing the best of the Cotswolds. Graham executed our planned itinerary flawlessly, and we appreciated his smooth driving throughout the day. At the end of the tour, he kindly dropped us off at our Heathrow airport hotel as requested. It was a perfect day filled with stunning scenery and enriching experiences—highly recommended!
Amazing trip. Ian picked us up from Southampton port and took us on a wonderful trip to Stonehenge and then to Bath. He was super knowledgeable and was a ton of fun! He suggested his favorite local lunch place in Bath and we ate our first truly British meal. Needless to say it was delicious! It was truly a wonderful day! Would highly recommend Ian for your trip!
Our guide Andrew was amazing! Not only was he knowledgeable in every aspect of our visit, he went over and beyond with teaching us and awnsering our questions This was a highlight of our two week trip and would recommend to anyone looking to go see outside of the city
My husband & I visited on May 20, 2024 with Ian & we had an excellent experience! Ian was very knowledgeable & professional! Since we were staying at a hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, we visited the Northern Cotswolds with its picturesque villages, market towns & buildings made from the local Cotswold stone. Ian made the tour very interesting blending a mix of driving & walking per our preference, answering any questions we might have, allowing time to take photos & taking photos of us. We highly recommend the tour & Ian. Thank you, Ian!!
We had a wonderful day in the Cotswolds with Jo. Such a pleasure to travel with her through the area and modify our itinerary as the conditions dictated. Jo provided great insight into the villages we visited and made sure we experienced the very best of the region. On our next visit to England we will certainly give some other areas a try with her.
I have always wanted to visit the Cotswolds and our tour guide JO ( JOANNA) didn't disappoint. It was a small group and we went to some out of the way places. Jo was very pleasant and entertaining. We learned a lot about what we were seeing. I felt we have sufficient time out of the van but yet covered a fair amount of territory. We saw a lot!!!!
Ian was very easy and helpful to work with from the time we booked our reservation and making recommendations on the schedule based on our groups preferences. He met us at the Oxford train station since we were traveling from London for the day. He helped us have a smooth day from start to finish without the worries of renting a car. He had great historic information about each village and had great suggestions on places to get tea/ coffee and lunch. We saw four towns, side stops to see a rock circle, and Oxford. We travelled with two families with teens who all really enjoyed the tour. We would do again and recommend to anyone desiring a smaller guided tour.
Our tour guide was knowledgeable and organized. We enjoyed the trip and loved the small villages she showed us. It was nice to avoid the hassle of big tour buses and travel by minivan.
Absolutely wonderful tour along beautiful backroads and through gorgeous villages. Our guides were fun and knowledgeable and great story tellers. Being able to travel the backroads where huge bus tours cannot go was great. Time for photos, for food and tea stops, LOTS of pictures, it was just about as perfect a day as I could have hoped for!
We hadn’t realized that when we booked this tour that it was going to be such a small group (which was a lovely surprise). Driving through the countryside in a smaller van allowed us to go to places buses cannot go. Our guide JO was amazing and very informative. She even stopped for us to take photos at places not normally on the tour. The villages we went to were so beautiful. Would definitely recommend this tour.
This was such a great day trip from Oxford! Ian had some wonderful stories and history to share and the places we visited were charming. Great chances to take in the area without feeling rushed. A wonderful time and absolutely recommended!
If you want to see the Cotswolds, this is the tour to take. The van is super comfortable. A small group, so it's personalized and you get to learn a little bit about the others on the trip. Jo, the tour guide was an absolute joy. Fun and knowledgeable. She shared a sorts of interesting information. Don't hesitate.
Jo was a wonderful and friendly guide! She was very knowledgeable and we could tell she loved giving tours! We had a memorable day in the Cotswolds!
What a wonderful day! Thank you to Ian for showing us all around The Cotswolds, even more beautiful than we imagined. All the thatched cottages, beautiful gardens and scenery. We loved all the bits of history and interesting stories that Ian shared with us as we went along. We mentioned that we really enjoyed Downton Abbey and Ian adjusted our day so we could fit in a visit to Bampton and see where much of the show was filmed. So amazing! I highly recommend this tour.
Thank you Ian first and foremost as we made preparations from the United States as first time visitors to England and my wife Linda’s longtime wish to visit the Cotswolds. You made it so easy to pick the right tour both scenery wise and affordable. The “Undiscovered Cotswolds” tour was made even more stupendous by Jo. Her passion, knowledge of every detail and warmth made for an unforgettable full day for my wife Linda and daughter Maria and myself. She exceeded all of our expectations on visiting this magical region called the Cotswolds.
Our group of four friends had a very memorable personalized tour. Jo was a wonderful guide and expert driver. A highlight was a visit to Hidcote Garden. Our group had really wanted to see a Cotswolds garden as part of the tour, and we were delighted with the choice Ian made for us. We saw some lovely places and beautiful scenery. The whole day was outstanding.
We had a great time. Justin was the perfect host, very friendly and provided us with good information about the places we saw. We were able to visit several villages that were so lovely. I would definitely recommend this small group tour to others. A great way to get a snapshot of the Cotswolds. The advantage of a small group is that we were able to see places where the big coaches can't go. Thanks for the memories.
We enjoyed our Cotswolds tour with our guide Jo. She was friendly and informative. Nice to have 7 stops and just eight of us including Jo. So nice to visit the places that are not as busy. Beautiful places. This was not a private tour but small group meeting at Oxford train station.
Ian, the owner was very responsive in planning the route for us. Jason, our driver, was personable and very informative about the various villages we visited. It was a great way to get a feel for the Cotswolds.
