Really interesting tour from Paul Sutton, easy to find pick up point. Detailed information given, clearly with real passion, enthusiasm and not a little humor. Paul knows his stuff, ad has a conversational style, really enjoyed the 2 hour experience which brought the city to life. Lots of tips and directions given, so we could expkire the city later by oursrlves. Thank you very much
Guide mostly talked about his own experiences and opinions of attending Oxford 30 years ago. The history and story telling was at high speed, unintelligible and uninteresting. He’s a current guide and has been one for one year. We didn’t see much of the city or learn any history. Not worth the money. A waste of two precious hours in Oxford.
Guide walked so fast and several blocks at a time. Guide was in a hurry. When the guide did talk, he rambled 15-20 minutes at a time, not favorable to Oxford. I felt I should be taking notes as he was lecturing.
Really informative and fun tour by James! Was easy to find the pickup spot, and it was small group of only four of us, so plenty of time to ask questions and easy to move around.
Very informative. Rachael was really good We were a small group of five which helped as it was matriculation day so it was very busy in the city
Very enjoyable 2 hour walking tour, our guide Nigel was very informative, easy going and friendly. There was something for all the group from the children and Harry Potter to the architecture and history for the adults. Excellent tour would thoroughly recommend it.
Informative, interesting, but you know, two hours of walking, so take note He was well versed in the history of the school and the city. He proceeded at a rather frenetic tempo, probably could’ve backed it off one or 2000 revolutions per minute, but cordial, polite, professional
So interesting, our guide was informative and entertaining. He had historic and fun facts - a great 2 hours that zipped by so fast.
What a brilliant tour — the best walking tour I have ever done! Nigel, our tour guide, was outstanding: incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fun. I’ve lived near Oxford for most of my life, but I still learnt so much from this tour. The pace was just right, and the route was on flat terrain, making it an enjoyable walk for everyone. I would highly recommend this tour!
Do not carry anything heavy with you. Store it before you arrive. I heard the first 25 minutes and had to wait for my friend to catch up. I should have gotten an itinerary of tour and would have rejoined
Our enthousiastic and witty guide shared many great stories about Oxford University, also from her own experience as student and researcher. Learning about the centuries of history related to the university buildings, while standing in front of them, adde much to our visit of this special city.
Our guide (Jason Thomas) was just fabulous. We visited several sites at our own rhythm (we had the privilege of having Jason to ourselves !), and he could manage to provide us with all the historical background along with a great sense of humor. We definitely recommend this tour !
Highly, highly recommended tour, especially if Jason is the one leading it!! Great information, super interesting, and he’s a genius and super friendly! We loved it.
Point of departure indicated was easy to find. Richard spoke knowledgeably and was very friendly.
Good tour but guide was hard to hear and you are dodging lots of bicycle traffic. The tour really only skims the surface. A tour that gets you inside buildings is probably better.
Nigel was excellent. Informative, entertaining and engaging. We saw parts of the city that we probably wouldn't have discovered ourselves and the 2 hour tour just flew by. I've been on many city walking tours and encountered many tour guides. Nigel's warm and entertaining manner made this one of the best. Many thanks
My wife and I had a wonderfully informative conversation with guide Jason Thomas as he walked us through the Oxford town and university and almost a thousand years of English history. We came to appreciate far better, the central role of Oxford in early British history and the development of higher education in the UK. We feel very fortunate that we could have Jason as our guide. He did a brilliant job.
Guide was great. Easy to understand, kept moving, was open to questions.
This tour was informative, insightful and fun. Our guide, James, was excellent. He really knew his history and kept us interested for the 2 plus hour walking tour. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our tour with Paul Sutton. He was enthusiastic and entertaining. As a former student, he had lots of stories to share.
An informative, entertaining tour of an historic city and university. Lots of good stories about the evolution of Oxford, the city and the school. Beautiful, old world architecture wherever you look. Our guide, Richard, was terrific!
Very enjoyable tour with a knowledgeable guide. Lots to listen and learn and we got full value for our two hours.
Jason did a fantastic job bringing Oxford’s rich history to life, combining fascinating historical sites with interesting facts and funny anecdotes about the city and its world-famous university. The tour was both informative and entertaining from start to finish. Highly recommended!
The tour was great really interesting Jason was great friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about Oxfords history
Professional and passionate. Our guide was able to deal with the special circumstances of the day, and bring us a unique and special tour. Sights that were normally closed were open this day, so we all profited from the guides flexibility.
Lively & informative tour with Jason. We very much enjoyed learning about the history of Oxford & the University
Engaging tour guide covered the essentials of the history very well .V informative
Marcus was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and open to any questions we might have had. Would recommend this tour.
This is a walking tour. Wear comfortable shoes. Tour was good, detailed about Ozford and provided many campus sights.
We had a great time on the tour. Our guide Jason was so interesting, knowledgeable and engaging. Would highly recommend.
Nigel was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. We covered so much ground and history in 2 hours. I would recommend Nigel and this tour
What a great experience! We have wanted to visit Oxford for some time and it didn’t disappoint. Our guide, Becca, was so interesting and shared Oxford’s history in an entertaining way. We would highly recommend both this tour and Becca as a tour guide.
This was an amazing tour. Matthew, our guide, was fantastic. His knowledge and enthusiasm were exceptional. He made Oxford come alive! Every small, yet important detail from Oxford's history was shared in such an interesting fashion.
Wonderful experience! Jason was a fantastic tour guide — a true storyteller who really brought Oxford to life. We enjoyed every minute. Highly recommended!
Josh was a great guide. Pleased with route + pace, stories + information shared.
Very interesting tour, not too long, and our tour guide, Richard S., was great! Highly recommended!
Such a great tour with our guide Josh! He turned our visit to Ofxford into an unforgettable experience.
We got the most interesting and thorough tour of Oxford by one of their alumni Helena. She was terrific, providing lots of detail about not only the colleges, but about politics and royalty and tensions between groups and the architecture of the town. I would highly recommend it.
Excellent and informative guide Richard
When you arrive in a new town you ask a resident to help you around. That's what Oxford Official Walking Tours do. Our guide, Jim, was personable, organized, extremely knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. He made Oxford come to life and made us want to find out more about this historic city. He asked about our nationalities and included points of interest and anecdotes that related to those countries. The 2 hour tour flew by and certainly made our stay very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Our guide James was brilliant, friendly, fun and very informative. Tour was at a good pace, told us about the university and the city, lots of interesting facts. Answered all the questions, would highly recommend.
Rachel was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. We had a fantastic tour.
A great tour! I did this tour yesterday with Kate as our guide. She was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting faces about the city and university. She pointed out many things that I would have just walked past! It was great to experience life inside one of the colleges too and see the contrast between the hustle and bustle outside, and the calmness inside the walls. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon!
JASON was a delightful, engaging, intelligent tour guide! I learned so much and he brought history to life! this tour is excellent if you don’t have a lot of time. I only had the afternoon and it was perfect. 2 hours.
Jason Thomas was our tour guide and did a spectacular job. He was a wealth of knowledge, not only of Oxford but of all England. We were very impressed
Our guide Richard was extremely well informed about both the history of Oxford and the way this fitted into the complexity of English history over hundreds of years. He had wonderful amusing anecdotes and explained the college system to us very well. He took us to all the places we had wanted to see and allowed time for photographs. He kindly left us at St John’s college a beautiful peaceful place to sit for a while. Make sure you have some cash, we would love to have tipped him but only had electronic options and no UK pounds!
We had to cancel at the last minute due to my husband’s illness. This company was very understanding and compassionate. They were wonderful and we only wish we could have taken the tour!
We called the operator before booking because our main goal was to visit a college. He assured us that the jesus college was in the tour. So we booked. The guide started normal but halfway when we passed the jesus college he said it wasn't open and skipped this part. He didn't listen to us at all when we asked why. He just walked on. We were not amused! At the end of the tour we walked to the jesus college ourselves. They were open! And showed us that many other groups had entered of the same organisation!!! We told what happened to us with our guide and they gave us the oppurtunity to walk in by ourselves. Thanks to the generousity of the people at the college. NOT by our guide Harvey..
Lovely experience and awesome guide who took us through key locations and was detailed with his insights
