This was our first visit to Oxford and the Inspector Morse tour was a very definite activity for us. The Tour Guide was lovely. She was a very passionate guide and it was obvious she was a fan of Inspector Morse being very knowledgable in the subject and using pictures to support the subject. She made the tour very interesting and fun too. Unfortunately other than the rain spoiling things a little (thank goodness for umbrellas) whilst we were the Chapel we came cross what I believe may have been the Pastor who had words with the Guide about NOT taking refuge in the chapel from the rain! This action was most embarrassing as we felt we were literally being thrown out. Due to this we did not get to have a good look around the chapel and appreciate the beautiful stained glass windows etc. I do not think the Pastor realised how far we had travelled to see this building and all I could think of was it’s a good job the Innkeeper did not throw Mary and Joseph out of the stable! This was so unchristian and I am still deciding as to whether I should complain to the University about her actions.

We had the best afternoon on Saturday for our Inspector Morse walking tour in Oxford. The sun shone brightly and the city looked stunning. The real highlight was Magnus, our guide who clearly has a thorough knowledge of the Inspector Morse drama plus the Lewis and Endeavour series. It was amazing to walk around the city, hear a variety of stories and see the beautiful colleges.... an amazing afternoon, thank-you!! Don't hesitate to book it!!
Joan did an amazing job leading us through Oxford through the lens of the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour series. She gave us history and detail which shows her devotion to the series and her respect for her craft. Well worth the time and money!
The tour was excellent. It was pouring with rain but it didn’t detract at all. The tour guide was fantastic and easy to listen to.
We really enjoyed the tour led by Rebecca; it was a great blend of Morse/Lewis/Endeavour references and background along with very interesting snippets of Oxford history. Thank you! Highly recommend
Heidi was on time, friendly and informative. Been waiting to go on this tour for ages. Thanks
Very knowledgeable guide, interesting and well-paced. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Excellent experience. And we were brought around Oxford. Amazing guide and gave good information. Highly recommend
Magnus gave a wonderful tour. He is very knowledgeable about the filming of Morse, Lewis and Endeavor series. He has a great sense of humor and presented all sorts of unknown facts about the series.
The guide was amazing and his knowledge blew us away an amazing way to see Oxford and an amazing experience.
My wife and I enjoyed the Morse walking tour with our guide Magnus. It was the highlight of our entire trip to Oxford! Magnus was entertaining, engaging and knowledgeable. We are inspired to watch the entire Morse/Endeavour/Lewis series again! Thank you Magnus!
Really fantastic fun tour with very knowledgeable guide of Oxford and Morse/Lewis/Endeavour. Would highly recommend
We thoroughly enjoyed the Morse Tour of Oxford with Magnus. He was a well informed, and engaging guide, who kept our interest in the places and facts relating to the series of Morse, Lewis and Endeavour. So many surprises - we will have to watch the series again to spot the interesting facts!
Magnus was a fantastic guide and made the whole tour enjoyable. Really enjoyed it.
This was a good walking tour of Oxford. I was interested in Endeavor and thought this would be interesting second day tour to supplement the standard Oxford University Tour that I did the first day. This was perfect since she highlighted different places to visit and got to see new things. Helped to get a better feel for the city and tying into the show was interesting for me. Overall very good - highly recommend.
Great tour delivered by a great guide. Magnus' knowledge was extensive and shared in an engaging way. Highly recommend.
My mum loved every minute of this, as part of her 80th birthday celebrations. The tour guide was full of informations about oxford not just about Morse. The tour was great value for money. Everyone who was there seemed to be enjoying the tour as well.
Sorry to say that we left the tour not long after start. It was impossible to hear anything that the guide said if you were only a bit far behind. She also spoke very fast, after all we were a bunch of tourists and many were maybe not that good at english.
I was not expecting much but I was blown away with this enjoyable 2 hour walk. The tour guide was friendly, inclusive ( I took my daughter who indulged me as she isn’t a morse fan) so knowledgeable not only about the series and its connections to Oxford but about key history and interesting facts. Her enthusiasm shone though and she encouraged questions about anything Oxford based. It was not rushed. The small group size was just perfect and the points of interests to visit later on (pubs!) lived up to the descriptions. Fantastic value for money.
Great walking tour as an avid fan of Morse and Endeavour. Tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and gave interesting insights to the 3 different characters and buidlings. Would highly recommend!
Heidi was an excellent guide! She has an impressive depth of knowledge and a fluent, engaging, and often amusing way of telling the stories behind the series and their filming locations. She also had photographs showing scenes from the series at the different locations, which was a wonderful addition.
This walking tour was a present from my husband, as I have been a fan of the Morse series from the beginning. The tour was very well organised, and our guide, Magnus was full of interesting facts. Oxford is a lovely city; we have visited several times, but I saw so much more today. Seeing the filming venues in real life, made it all the more special. Magnus is a very amiable gentleman who is very knowledgable and passionate about his subject. We had a brilliant time. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour. If you are a fan of Morse, Lewis and Endeavour, you won't be disappointed.
For our Morse walking tour of Oxford on Saturday 25th July, Heidi was the best guide we could have wished for. She was very insightful, a real Morse, Lewis and Endeavour fanatic. Having witnessed the filming of many episodes, Heidi was able to draw upon these experiences of meeting cast members, and of the various filmset locations used. An abundance of anecdotes and references to particular episodes. Definitely a must for every enthusiast of the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour trilogy.
Heidi did a great tour very interesting, and really enjoyable with really good facts, that we were not aware of.
Guide was very experienced and knowledgeable with a lot of information about the locations used in the filming of Morse Lewis and Endeavour which really helpful.
Magnus from Walking Tours of Oxford gave a fantastic tour of Oxford with excellent insider scoop and details on the Inspector Morse/Lewis/Endeavour shows and their points of interest in Oxford. If you are a fan of the shows and/or novels, you will really enjoy this walking tour. Thank you Magnus for a very fun and unique tour of Oxford! - Bridget from California
Great tour , very knowledgeable guide , not too far to walk and also a good pace . Thoroughly recommend
Really terrific walking tour led by the engaging superfan Heidi, who's enthusiasm really shone through, making this a really fun engaging tour - in fact, it was the absolute highlight of our two day trip! Highly recommended, thank you Heidi
Very informative and interesting walk around Oxford where they did the filming on the shows. Would highly recommend.
We had a very enjoyable day in Oxford and the Morse tour was the highlight. Magnus our guide was excellent, very professional, informative and knowledgeable.
Enjoyable glimpse into the world of Morse. Stopping off at filming locations and stories attached to them. Magnus was engaging and knowledgeable about the subject, clearly spent a lot of time watching and rewatching the shows.
We really enjoyed our tour. The pace and content was just right. Our guide, Magnus, was fun and intetesting.
Morse, Lewis and Endeavour tour around some of the murder Venus and filming spots backed up by photographs. Entertaining stories about books and the way the three series were filmed by Magnus our guide. A party of around 18 people.
Excellent tour with knowledgeable guide Marcus. We thoroughly enjoyed it and he knew all about Endeavour, Morse and Lewis.
The tour guide was excellent. It was also good that they gave you an ear piece so you never missed out on anything the tour guide was saying. If you are a Morse, Lewis or Endeavour fan you will enjoy it and there are some beautiful buildings and walkways to experience.
Our tour was great! The itinerary covered lots of Oxford-based filming locations and our guide provided lots of insights and background information. I highly recommend this tour!
Brilliant tour! Magnus was informed, entertaining, thoughtful and gave some great insights into locations and filming. A lovely dip into some absolute fabulous television. Thank you!
Although Oxford was great and our guide did a decent job of showing the highlights. I wish I had known in advance that most all of the colleges no longer allow you enter the grounds. I was looking forward to seeing more of the Morse filming spots. Saint John's college is open, but New College was the only other that was open but that cost 13 pounds separate from the cost of the tour.
Excellent tour, really informative and interesting. Our guide,Magnus was brilliant and we learnt so much. It was great fun.
Rebecca was wonderful. In addition to the prepared information, she was able to address random questions from a particularly intense Morse fan in our group. it was a real pleasure. This tour was the first thing we booked when we planned our trip here and it did not disappoint!
Fabulous tour and guide. Well worth it to get insights into the 3 series and fun info on the filming locations.
Great fun tour - there are some cobbles but generally if you have trainers or equivalent footwear and are steady on your feet you are fine. Not huge amounts of walking but there's nowhere to sit for the 100 minutes or so. Informed guide who is passionate about the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour world and knows the episodes well. Great back stories from the Sweeney and the producers / directors involved. Plenty of photos from the series produced at key points of the tour. Rebecca was clear and articulate and answered all of our questions from the whole group from 3 continents. Definitely recommended. 12 people on the tour was ideal.
Rebecca our guide was absolutely brilliant and so knowledgeable about locations used and also explained lots of history about the colleges in Oxford. Thoroughly enjoyable tour. I loved it! Thank you Rebecca!
So obsessed are we with Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour, that we returned to Oxford for a private tour with Heidi Boon Rickard. We absolutely loved the hours we spent with her. Heidi could have a PhD in this topic, and her direct interactions with the actors and others involved made her distinctive; I also recommend highly her recent book: "Morse: Lewis, Endeavour and Oxford" . Summery: we HIGHLY recommended booking a tour with Heidi, who is knowledgeable, warm, articulate, and just who you want!
Magnus was so knowledgeable and entertaining - appealing to everyone in the group. There were some massive Morse fans in our group and some who were just curious about the stories behind the character. He made the whole experience really enjoyable.
Excellent guide with great stories. Even though our group was made up of varying ages, she kept us all entertained and wanting more. Her knowledge of EVERY show was surprising to us, and we appreciated the references to episodes as we stood at a filming site. The crowning tidbit was that she attended Colin Dexter’s funeral along side the stars! We’d loved to have seen a nametag so we could refer to her by name… old ears don’t always catch names.
Heidi was a wonderful tour guide. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of Morse, Lewis and Endeavour was amazing. It was such a fun and interesting walk round Oxford
A wonderful experience! Our guide, Magnus, was very knowledgeable, entertaining and professional. We were part of small group which made the experience enjoyable. The length of the tour was just under 2 hours which was perfect for seeing the sites where the shows were filmed. It was a great day, wonderful atmosphere, and value for money!
Heidi was a very good guide. Really enjoyed it, a must for Morse anoraks !
We're long time fans of the show from the US. It was a great tour, showing us where various scenes were shot and the filming tricks to keep things in the correct time frame. Can't wait to rewatch the shows and look for familiar landmarks.
