A good way to spend an afternoon touring Cheltenham. We usually go for walking tours with a guide (person), but as there were none available, we settled for the audio guide. Can be a little difficult to hear against noisy traffic.

Poor show, might be me but bought it for 2 but you can only download on one phone…so my partner was out of the loop when I used my ear phones and using speaker phone on busy streets doesn’t work....there was no easy way to share via ear phones …there may be a way round this but not obvious & I don’t want to mess around on the street working it all out…Will not be ever using this again….
This tour is just the right length, especially for a very warm day! It shows some interesting and varied sights and gives just enough information to be absorbing without being over the top. It is easy to follow and quickly corrects you if you stray off course. By the time we’d walked from the John Lewis car park to the starting point, round the tour and back to the car, we’d done 10,000 steps. Cheltenham is beautiful and whilst the tour is superficial in terms of the distance that can be travelled on foot in one go (compared to all the delights the wider place has to offer), it was an excellent way for a prospective student to learn their way round and to see what Cheltenham has to offer. I would definitely recommend the tour.
An enjoyable and informative hour and a half with a very easy to listen to guide.
Clear directions (even when I went off track) easy to use and informative. I downloaded it so no problems with connection.
We stayed at 131 hotel, it was a gift from our daughters. It must be the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in. We went to eat at The Ivy which was beautiful.
Great informative tour, the narrator had a very nice voice, the directions were easy to follow and the information was very interesting
A well designed and narrated tour which takes in all the key interest points and historical sites in and around the centre of Cheltenham. We learnt a lot more from the tour than if we had just wandered around ourselves. We found the Audiomap app was not always intuitive to use, and initially struggled to find the menu option to enter the code provided on purchase. We also struggled with location access settings for the app - only solved by setting access to location data on permanently, and not just whilst using the app.
We came to Cheltenham for a short break. I knew it was steeped in history but we wanted to explore the town at our own pace. This was a brilliant option that allowed us to find out loads about Cheltenham without restricting us to a timetable. We were able to pause the tour at any point to explore shops and stop for lunch etc. The tour can be done in as little as 90 minutes but we stretched it out across a whole day and really enjoyed ourselves. We only got lost once and that was because we talked over one of the directions. We were quickly advised of our error and returned to the previous check point. I would definitely recommend to the inquisitive independent traveller
Very user friendly and helpful virtual guided tour. Nice voice, easy to follow directions and plenty of interesting information. Stopped when I stopped and automatically picked up when I moved on. Took me places and showed me areas that I would not have ventured to, but nothing too far off the beaten track! Very good overall and worth the cist
Great way to get to know a city especially when you’re on your own. The app worked well - the only time I went slightly off route it was easy enough to find my way back on and the tour was interesting and the guide lovely to listen to. Sometimes you do feel a bit weird standing still in random places (like next to the coach station) but just look confident and it’s fine!
Easy to follow and interesting and just about the right length. We'd been there a day already but would have missed loads without this tour.
An excellent way to explore Cheltenham at my own pace. Informative commentary which kept pace with the route. I was able to stop and explore the sites that were of most interest to me. A highlight was the Cheltenham Minster where I was guided by lovely volunteers. This is so easy to access and has opened up new your options for me elsewhere. Great value for money.
Loved learning more about Cheltenhsm. The tour worked well except for a little hard to follow at St. Stephens Square.
We were really impressed by this tour. Sat nav ensured that we were given information of each site at exactly the right time. The level of information was perfect.
It was a great way to discover Cheltenham. The guide was easy to use and the guide was very knowledgeable about the town. A few glitches on the way round which were probably our fault but we soon got back on track!
A very interesting audio tour of Cheltenham. My wife and I shared an earpiece each and found the tour easy to follow and very informative. This is the second tour of this kind we have used, and we enjoyed them both. I like the clever gps technology it uses and look forward to using the app again sometime.
Good walk around Cheltenham with GPS allowing to guide to start and stop talking while telling you where to go.
This is a great tour! Loved how the app teed up the talk track with my location! I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the walk too.
My family and I had a day in Cheltenham and wanted to make the most of it. This tour is a great way to see the main sights of the town and learn some local history. We stopped for lunch at Montpellier half way round and were able to go at our own pace. The app was easy to download and use. We have already recommended the tour to several friends who live in Cheltenham but don’t know much about the history and architecture. You won’t regret using this. If you need WiFi just head to one of the local cafes for a coffee whilst getting set up and borrow their WiFi
We are a group of friends who booked 3 headsets, and chose this tour as it On our first visit to Cheltenham. We liked the advertised idea of discovering the sights at our own pace, and being able to stop and start the commentary. Ideal! Sadly it didn't live up to expectations. From the beginning, the quality of the sound was poor and breaking up throughout, so very difficult to follow. We all found the directions confusing, and got lost several times. Quite often the street signs were absent, so time was wasted revisiting streets we had already walked along. There needs to be far more detail when giving directions. When we did manage to hear clearly, the information was interesting, but much of the tour led to great frustration, and we seemed to spend more time trying to work out where we were, and where we should go, rather than enjoying the sights and listening to the history of this magnificent town. The whole experience was very poor, and quite demoralising. If you had visited Cheltenham before, it might have been different, and once we finished, and breathed a sigh of relief, we all said the directions would have worked had we started again, once we had orientated ourselves in the town. We are all technically able, and reasonably intelligent but this really was a complete shambles, and we could not recommend the tour in its present format. Details say it's suitable for those between 6-99, but I'm not sure how. It could have been so much better with a little more thought.
This tour of Cheltenham, UK, was excellent. Clear, concise instructions with interesting and informative comentary. It was easy to stop the app while I had breakfast and to resume it when I was ready. I'm am not skilled with modern technology but was able to handle this easily and enjoyed a good walk too. I now feel that I know this lovely town better and understand a little of its history. The only problems I had were when the GPS lagged a little so I overshot my spot for the commentary but I could read the on screen map and retrace my steps to make the necessary adjustments quite easily. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.
We had a fabulous time working the streets and listening to the commentary… found a great place for lunch along the way.
Really enjoyed the tour. Learned lots about Cheltenham. Saw places along the way that we would otherwise have missed. Easy to download and use. I would have given 5 stars but the GPS was sometimes slightly out of sync with where I was and the audio didn't start but I think this may be more to do with my phone being a little older. Would recommend and worth the money.
This was interesting although the instructions were sometimes a little confusing. It took a lot longer than the blurb said
Excellent, first tour and exceeded my expectations. Very well put together and presented. Clear and sufficient information. Worked really well, delighted with tour.
Unfortunately am unable to comment on the tour! There were 4 of us in our group and the instructions to download on 4 devices were not very clear. And because we didn’t all have access to WiFi or 4g we were unable to download and were therefore unable to do the tour. Very disappointing!
I enjoyed the walk around the town, visiting some of the most iconic areas of Cheltenham from the 1700 and 1800s, a beautiful experience back in time. The tour application was simple to use, and I could go at my own pace. I enjoyed the whole thing.
Going along the tour took me out of the bustle of the streets and to the stories that make Cheltenham what it is today. The app is easy enough to use- it automatically plays at just the right times as you walk along the route. Very informative and a lovely walk.
